Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: FREE! You can write about this or any running related blog post. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
This week we have a FREE topic, so it gives me an opportunity to share some of my favorite Peloton classes! This is a topic I’ve wanted to write about for a while because there are so many instructors and different types of workouts to choose from – it can be overwhelming! Here are my three favorite classes per workout.
Strength
Lil Wayne Full Body Strength 7/23/20 – Jess (30 minutes)
Holiday Flash 15 12/18/20 – Jess (15 minutes)
Miley Cyrus Core Strength 1/7/21 – Matty (20 minutes)
I’m convinced that Jess tried to kill me in the Lil Wayne strength class. I was sore for two days after that class. Literally any of the Flash 15 classes are great. You can’t go wrong with any of them, but so far this one has been my favorite. Matty really loves core work and this class was no exception! The music wasn’t the best but the moves were hard.
Yoga
Standing Yoga 10/29/20 – Kristin (5 minutes)
Yoga Flow: Hips 10/28/20 – Aditi (10 minutes)
Beyonce Yoga Flow 11/11/20 – Chelsea (30 minutes)
The app has a few different standing yoga classes. I like to do this one sometimes during the workday, especially when my back feels a little tight. The hips yoga class is great for tight hips. Chelsea did a great job with the Beyonce yoga class – loved her song selections and the flow of the class – she made it fun!
Stretching
The Weeknd Full Body Stretch 8/26/20 – Jess (15 minutes)
Smokey Robinson Stretch 2/14/20 – Matty (10 minutes)
Pre-Run Warm Up 10/5/20 – Matt (5 minutes)
I love the Weeknd stretch because the music is good and it’s a 15 minute stretch which really allows you to spend time in certain stretches. The Smokey Robinson stretch is another good one because of the really chill music. The five minute pre-run warm up is to the song “Get Low” but Lil Jon. You haven’t lived until you’ve done a pre-run stretch with Matt vibing out to Get Low, lol.
Cycling
Outkast Ride 12/2/20 – Denis (30 minutes)
Britney Spears Ride 7/15/20 – Cody (30 minutes)
Club Bangers Ride 1/18/20 – Alex (45 minutes)
The Outkast ride is hands down my favorite ride ever. Denis really knows A LOT about music so when he does an Artist Series ride, you’re always in for a treat. As you know I love music so I appreciate how much knowledge he has about different genres of music. Cody absolutely loves Britney Spears so of course this ride is phenomenal. You can never go wrong with a Club Bangers Ride and this one in my absolute favorite. The playlist is SO good!
Running
Lil Wayne Run 7/23/20 – Robin (30 minutes)
Halloween Run 10/28/20 – Matty (30 minutes)
Lizzo Fun Run 8/3/19 – Jess (30 minutes)
The Lil Wayne run made me feel like I was running in a club. Every song was a hit and the run was SO much fun. The Halloween run with Mara Thoner (aka Matty) was an absolute riot! I can’t remember anything about the songs or what was said during the run because I was laughing so hard. It was a true treat. I loved the Lizzo run because it was all about self acceptance and loving yourself – a great message to hear anytime.
Tread Bootcamp
Beyonce Bootcamp 11/14/20 – Jess (60 minutes)
BHM Soca Bootcamp 2/24/20 – Chase (45 minutes)
Two For One BHM Bootcamp 2/29/20 – Chase & Jess (60 minutes)
All three of these tread bootcamps are great for different reasons. The Beyonce bootcamp was full of powerful songs and mantras from Jess. The Soca bootcamp was one big party! Chase’s infectious smile and energy made it a super fun class. The Two For One bootcamp was great because Jess and Chase have a playful banter (almost like sister/brother), but they both still managed to kick my butt.
I haven’t done enough of the cardio, outdoor running or bike bootcamp classes, but here’s one class I have enjoyed from each category:
Cardio
Lil Wayne HIIT Cardio 7/22/20 – Rebecca (20 minutes)
Outdoor Running
90s Fun Run 3/28/19 – Jess (45 minutes)
Bike Bootcamp
Bootcamp: Upper Body 12/2/20 – Tunde (30 minutes)
For the meditations, you really can’t go wrong with any of the sleep or gratitude meditations, those are my two favorites and all the instructors are good!
Tell me: If you’re a Peloton user, what’s your favorite class? If you’re not a Peloton user, what has been your favorite group fitness class or run?

I’ve definitely enjoyed some of the Artist Series & the Broadway Series too. I get my meditation, Yoga, and strength training elsewhere, so I primarily use Peloton for treadmill and cycling. But it’s made my treadmill runs much more enjoyable for sure!
kookyrunner says
Totally agree about it making the treadmill runs more enjoyable!

I’m not a Peloton user, but just from what you’re saying about those classes makes me want to be one! I can imagine that they are great fun.
I wonder how many instructors Peloton has? I guess they used to have a number of people at every physical location and now “only” have the people who do the online classes? Or do the physical locations still operate?
kookyrunner says
They have physical studios in NYC, London and Germany. Pre-covid you could sign up online to take classes live in the studio but now they just have the instructors teach the class from the empty studios. They have been doing that since this summer and it’s worked out pretty well!
Laurie says
Wow! I had no idea there were So. Many. Peloton. Classes. And you have done a LOT of them! Good for you for trying out different classes and selecting your favorites. You have so many workout possibilities. I didn’t realize they even had meditation classes. Workouts are much more fun when you have good music to do them to.
kookyrunner says
Yup, so many classes! They have classes on there going back to 2017. I know that many people love doing the classes live but I really utilize the on demand library since there are so many great classes.
Kimberly Hatting says
WoW! So many options to choose from, not just classes but instructors! AS you know, I have not gone down the Peloton rabbit hole (yet LOL), but I fear there would be no looking back. Thanks for the great reference list!!
kookyrunner says
I’m here to say that once you go down the rabbit hole, there’s no turning back, lol.
Darlene S Cardillo says
Thanks for sharing.
I mainly use the workouts for cycling and running.
Before my trial membership ends, I need to try the ST ones so I appreciate your recommendations.
kookyrunner says
No problem! Hope you get a chance to try out the ST ones.

some of your favorites are also some of my favorites! I always thnk jess wants to kill me. I also love Matty for strength and core daily. The weekend stretch has been on repeat the last month I love it. Chelsea is just magical. Happy pelotoning
kookyrunner says
I laughed at “I always think Jess wants to kill me” LOL. That’s often how I feel but I still love her. I’m not doing Matty’s enCORE28 challenge this month but I think I’ll try it out sometime this year.

I’m not a peloton user but what I’ve learnt from you and others who use it is the variety and all the options! Quite incredible and I like how you get attached to certain instructors who gel with you just as you would in non-peloton classes. My favourite group fitness classes were definitely Pilates. I hardly skipped any classes and I really miss those. I can feel my core is no where near as strong as it used to be pre-pandemic.
kookyrunner says
Yup, that’s the beauty of Peloton. I do feel like there is something for everyone because of the variety of classes and instructors.
Liz Dexter says
This is so useful, as a Peleton newbie – I will definitely explore some of these!
kookyrunner says
Glad to hear it, and please let me know if you have any questions!
Ani says
OMG I had such Peloton envy *before* I read this post and now I’m feeling it even harder! I might have to try the app, even though I don’t have a Peloton. Is that a thing?
kookyrunner says
For sure! You can just use the app for the classes – I know many people that do that!
Zenaida Arroyo says
I love this! So many fun classes. I am going to check out that Outkast class because that Latin one I told you about might be better. 🙂 Of course Matty’s Halloween Run is on this list!
kookyrunner says
I love when Matty does any runs in costume, lol
Michelle D. says
We have many of the same favorites! I just love all of the options Peloton offers. I haven’t tried Alex’s Club Bangers rides yet – 45 minutes of AT scares me LOL! I’ve got Chelsea’s Beyonce class bookmarked – looking forward to it!
kookyrunner says
45 minutes of AT is no joke but it’s a lot of fun!
