Happy Tuesday! Welcome to another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week is all about footwear.
This week’s Tuesday Topic: What are your favorite running sneakers? You can write about this topic, or feel free to post any running related blog post. Remember to Link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
I’ll admit that when I first started running, I selected sneakers based on the colors I liked. Very dumb I know, but luckily I learned my lesson. After some trial and error I realized that I needed sneakers that would offer me stability/support.
My go-to sneakers FOREVER were the Mizuno Wave Inspire 10s. I ran my first marathon in them and countless other races. These were literally the perfect sneakers. I easily got 400+ miles per pair and they never hurt my feet, ever! I actually stocked up on a few pairs when they were on sale and those lasted for a while but eventually I went through my final pair last year. I tried the updated styles of the Wave Inspires but they just fit so different. They weren’t comfortable for me at all.
It took a few months but I finally found two styles of sneakers that are currently working for me. I had to switch brands (Mizuno to Brooks) but my feet are happy so that’s all that matters!
Brooks Ravenna 9
I’ve always loved the colors and design of Brooks sneakers but I had experience testing out a pair of their sneakers a few years ago (the sneaker was SO heavy). I’m happy that I decided to give their sneakers another try! I use the Brooks Ravenna 9s for shorter runs (usually less than 6 miles). IT’s a support sneaker but they are super lightweight, which I really enjoy. I don’t do speed work often, but when I do, I wear these sneakers.
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18
I do all of my long runs with these sneakers. Not only are they lightweight, but they have a bit of bounce as well. Similar to the Wave Inspires, my feet never hurt after doing a long run in these sneakers. I’ll be wearing these sneakers for my marathon in October!
I’ve purchased multiple pairs of each sneaker so I know I’ll at least have them to use throughout next year. Hopefully the updated versions of each sneaker will work for me when it comes time replace them!
Tell me: What are your favorite running sneakers?

I have been wavering between Mizuno and Brooks, but I am leaning more towards Brooks. They are so responsive and comfy! They are also very light, which will be helpful for my goal of pursuing the 5k next year. Plus they have so many awesome designs!
kookyrunner says
Totally agree with you – I find the Brooks to be more responsive and I enjoy the extra bit of bounce/cushion.

When I’m not in Newtons, on easy running days, I’m in either Brooks or Mizuno. Compared to my Newtons though they’re heavy!
Glad you’ve found the right ones for you.
kookyrunner says
I’ve never tried Newtons but everyone I know that runs in them absolutely loves them!
Zenaida Arroyo says
You know what my answer is to that question. 🙂 Brooks all of the way! Makes me happy to see you like them too. 🙂
kookyrunner says
LOL yes, I know you are a Brooks superfan! 🙂
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
I use to wear stability shoes and now I am more comfortable in a neutral shoe. I am currently wearing the Brooks Glycerins. I admit that I still buy shoes based on colors sometimes 🙂 Can’t have too many-or can you?
kookyrunner says
You can never have too many running sneakers. I always joke that I have more sneakers than high heels, LOL
San says
I am a Brooks girl. I haven’t branched out much, but maybe I should… but then again, don’t fix it if it ain’t broken, am I right? 🙂
kookyrunner says
Yes! If it’s working for you then continue using them – No need to branch out when what you have works just fine 🙂
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
You know I’m an Adrenaline fan too. I haven’t tried the Ravenna. It’s great that you’ve settled on your marathon shoe – definitely smart to buy extra pairs to have on hand since manufacturers keep insisting on messing with their shoe designs!
kookyrunner says
Ugh you know that’s my biggest pet peeve! I just feel like the manufacturers mess too much with a good thing when they try to add all types of different features.
Cari says
I have too many sneakers right now – my last pair of running v2s, a pair of V2s that never quite fit and New Balance gave me a credit for but told me to keep, a pair of 880s that really don’t work for me but are OK for short distances sometimes, and my two 1080s in rotation. I need some shoe storage
kookyrunner says
A few years ago I tried a pair of the New Balance V2s and they were awesome for like a month and then all of a sudden they started to hurt my feet. I was bummed because I really liked the look and feel of them!

I swear by my Sauconys. I love their cushion. Plus I don’t like change and have been wearing them for years. I bought a pair of Asics at an expo for half price and I liked them (wore them for my marathon and didn’t have any issues) but went back to my tried and true Sauconys when I needed a new pair of running shoes. Old habits die hard!
kookyrunner says
I’ve never tried Sauconys but always love the look of their sneakers! I wore a pair of Asics for my first half marathon but then switched over to Mizunos.
Black Knight says
Often I have to change brand because they change the shape of the shoes (the same model can become larger or narrower one year later).
My current favorite brand is Brooks.
I have always 2 different pair of shoes to alternate every other workouts.
kookyrunner says
Yes, thats the issue I had with the Mizuno Wave Inspires. The 11s were okay but then every model after that really hurt my feet because they changed some of the dynamics.
Laurie says
My current faves are my Nike Air Pegasus. I don’t want to run in anything else. They are so light and responsive.
kookyrunner says
I have a few friends that run in those and they love them!
Jenn says
I love the Ravenna 10s and the Adrenaline GTS. I used to run in Mizuno Wave Inspire, but they have been too heavy and clunky lately, so I’ve gotten away from them.
kookyrunner says
Yes! I don’t know what happened to the Wave Inspires. It’s like they went through a complete re-design or something. My feet hated the newer versions.
Cedar says
I used to have that exact pair of Brooks Adrenaline sneakers! I LOVED that blue color. For me it’s Brooks Adrenaline all the way!
kookyrunner says
I also love the blue color. I have two more pairs that are still in the box – one blue and one gray – so I’ll have these sneakers for a while, lol
Marc Pelerin says
In college, we were sponsored by Nike, so that’s what we wore. Now that I have to buy shoes, I’m totally a Brooks guy. I’m now in the Levitates and I love them.
kookyrunner says
I’ve heard many awesome things about the Levitates!
Angie @ Roam says
Oh Lord, this is like asking which of your dogs you love more. lol. But really it is not hard. My forever favorite shoe is the Asics Gel Noosa-Tri. I first got them when they came out in the US in 2010 and have gotten every version since then. Just keeps getting better and even after trying other shoes, I keep coming back to this one.
kookyrunner says
That’s so great that you found a shoe that really works for you!
