Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: It’s World Day of Music – what songs would be on your playlist?. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
Today is World Day of Music, a day to appreciate all forms of music. I’m more than happy to celebrate this day as I absolutely love music. It’s a daily part of my life as I use music when exercising, cooking, working, etc. I’ve always got music on in the background – sometimes it’s 90s rap, sometimes it’s 80s rock and sometimes it’s 00’s pop – I pretty much enjoy all genres of music, except country (BUT country pop is okay).
If I was building my perfect workout playlist, these songs would all be included:
Lose Yourself – Eminem
‘Till I Collapse – Eminem
We Are The Champions – Queen
Eye of the Tiger – Survivor
24K Magic – Bruno Mars
Just A Girl – No Doubt
Hollaback Girl – Gwen Stefani
Brin Em Out – T.I.
Everlong – Foo Fighters
Baby Got Back – Sir-Mix-A Lot
Turn Down For What – Lil Jon
Gonna Make You Sweat – C+C Music Factory
Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana
A Milli – LiL Wayne
What’s My Name – DMX
Numb/Encore – Linkin Park f/ Jay Z
Work Bitch – Britney Spears
Pup Up The Jam – Technotronic
Livin’ On A Prayer – Bon Jovi
Give It Away – Red Hot Chili Peppers

I think I’ve had most of those songs on my playlist over the years! I don’t listen to music as often as I used to–only when I run on the pavement–so it’s always a treat. Right now, I’m enjoying songs that I can sing along to–out loud or in my head, lol
kookyrunner says
I love the songs I can sing along to – those are always so much fun, even if I am out of breath by the end of the song, lol.

Haha! I didn’t realise it was World Music Day but I’ve been working on a blog for Friday about running with music! What’s funny is I’m not a music person – when we’re on a road trip everyone in the car gets to have time with their favourite music and when it’s my turn to choose, I choose to have silence, LOL! BUT… when I run and it’s getting tough, music is one of the best ways to get me and keep me going!
kookyrunner says
I think there’s a “national day” for just about anything these days, lol.
Music can be such a motivator – especially during a race!
Deborah Brooks says
You have some great classics on your list that are also on mine. I have a few more Britney and Pink songs on there. I like a mix of music as well. Especially enjoy music on race day!
kookyrunner says
Britney has so many great songs – I only listed my favorite one but there are tons more on my playlist lol
Catrina says
I don’t recognize all of your songs by name, but I would probably recognize the song if I heard it.
I love that you have such a great variety of favourite songs.
I don’t listen to music while I run, however, at home, there’s always music playing.
Right now, it’s “Talk” by Coldplay. 🙂
kookyrunner says
You can never go wrong with Coldplay! I don’t have any of their songs listed here but I really enjoy a lot of their songs.
Jenny says
Your playlist is cooler than mine, but I have a couple of your songs. I usually listen to podcasts when I run, but I do have a playlist I save for extra hard efforts. Like sometimes I’ll put on music for the last few miles of a long run- it REALLY helps when you’re getting tired!
kookyrunner says
100% agree! I always try to save “pump me up” songs for the last few miles of any race, especially a marathon!
Darlene Cardillo says
I LOVE most of the songs on your playlist. Mine needs major updating. It’s been awhile. Peleton is a quick link to some decent music and I do like Podcasts.
kookyrunner says
So true about Peloton! I have definitely gone back to look at playlists for previous classes I’ve taken to get new songs to add to my playlist.
Kimberly Hatting says
I’m SO glad you included Bon Jovi! Job & I go way back, LOL 🙂 I’ve gotten away from running with music (since my Shuffle died a few years ago), but I do live all the Peloton workouts with their music. I’d have to say I’m probably more of a classic rock gal these days, and AC/DC and Def Leppard are my two favs at the moment.
Kimberly Hatting says
I meant Jon, not Job 🙂
kookyrunner says
It’s not a workout playlist without Bon Jovi!
Virjinia @ With Purpose and Kindness says
My workout partner and I were joking about how everything from “8 Mile” is on every elder millennial’s pump up playlist. Eminem is just GOOD. I also love Linkin Park so anything from them gets me going on a workout.
kookyrunner says
LOL that’s so true!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
At least I know a lot of the songs on your playlist (although not all).
That’s one thing I still struggle with with Peloton — finding runs/cycles with playlists I actually enjoy.
kookyrunner says
With Peloton it can definitely be hot or miss, especially with their Pop classes, but I find that I enjoy most of the rock and hip hop classes. I think it also depends on the instructor too.
Denise says
Great playlist. I’ll be adding a few of these to my current list. I too have music on most of the time and listen to most genres.
kookyrunner says
I find it so fun to listen to different types of genres because every song is like a surprise, lol.
Zenaida Arroyo says
I was never a fan of Eminem. Not sure why. I do recognize a few of the songs on your playlist but then there are others that I have not. Do I get extra points since I do recognize the artists? 🙂
kookyrunner says
You definitely get points for that!
