Happy Tuesday! I’m glad that we all survived the brutal heatwave this weekend. That was definitely not fun!
This week’s Tuesday Topic: What’s on your running playlist? You can write about this topic, or feel free to post any running related blog post. Remember to Link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
If you’ve been a reader of my blog for a while, you know that music is very important to me. I absolutely love it! For a while I had a ‘Music Mondays’ segment on the blog and then I co-hosted a Tunes Tuesday for a while as well, but that ended last year. Music is a huge part of my life – I listen to it while at work, in the car and while working out. I’m pretty much always jamming out to something! Here are a few newer songs that are currently on my running playlist.
Old Town Road – Lil Nas X Featuring Billy Ray Cyrus
I’m not really into country music but this is more of a “trap country” song and I love the mixing of the different genres. I don’t know how or why but this song grew on me and it makes me laugh while running.
Juice – Lizzo
I love Lizzo because she’s all about spreading positivity with her music. She also looks like someone that knows how to have a lot of fun. This song just makes me smile.
High Hopes – Panic! At the Disco
I haven’t always been the biggest Panic! At the Disco fan but I liked this song instantly. The lyrics are fun and the upbeat tempo makes it a great song for running.
Natural – Imagine Dragons
This is a great song when you need a little extra “oomph” to get up that hill or finish up that last mile.
Tell me: What’s on your running playlist?

Topic for next week – What are your favorite summer drinks to stay hydrated? We hope you’ll link up with us!
I’m also linking up with Marc from Train With Marc and Debbie from Coach Debbie Runs for Coaches’ Corner!
So funny–I had Old Town Road on my playlist for a while! It was one of those songs that made me laugh for a while until it didn’t. I actually saw a country rap band on TV–altho for the life of me, I can’t remember their names. Talk about mixing genres! I kind of like it!
Right?! I can;t help but laugh at that song because it’s so ridiculous!
I don’t run with music anymore but I love, love, love High Hopes. And i’ll Have to try to remember to check out Lizzo.
Oddly enough one of my favorite songs when I did run with music was The Climb by Miley Cyrus. That song just speaks to me! I don’t listen to her a lot even though I love her powerful voice, but I do love that song.
I can see why you like that song, it actually has a really positive message and it’s a good song to hear when you need a little boost of energy!
I need to go back to music…lately it’s been podcasts.
I haven’t tried running while listening to a podcast but it’s something that I would definitely try!
Honestly I’ve never heard of these songs. I am still stuck in the previous decades. 🙂 No?
LoL that’s fine! Most songs on my playlist are from the 90s 🙂
Never heard these songs before. Thanks for sharing.
As I am an old man I mainly listen the hard rock, the gothic rock and the progressive but I like to know other kind of music.
I have a hard rock playlist on my iPod. I always keep a few different playlists – all depends on what I’m in the mood for that day on my run!
I don’t run with music that often but I always have it for my gym workouts. The HIgh hopes song really grew on me. Thanks for some new ideas I am always wanting to update my playlist
Glad I gave you some new ideas for your playlist!
Great mix, KimTwin 😉 I’m not running with music all the time these days (for sure, though, for my long runs, if I’m solo). Billy Ray Cyrus cracks me up! I actually saw him in concert (many, many moons ago LOL), and almost died when the kids started watching Hannah Montana (that was many years ago, too).
I admire runners that can run without music. I need to run with music to drown out the crazy thoughts in my head, lol
I used to run with music, but I don’t anymore, for safety reasons and because I just enjoy the time alone in my head! 🙂 My grandson showed me the High Hopes video and I loved it. So cool!
I use the music to drown out the negative thoughts in my head when I’m running, lol.
These are great – High Hopes is one of my favorites too! I listened to Pandora for a while, but now I have Spotify Premium and not having ads makes all the difference! I love making my own playlists on there.
I still listen to Pandora at work but I’ve notice that Spotify has some great pre-made playlists!
Those are all great songs! High Hopes is one of the songs used in the dance cardio class I take and it’s always gets me moving! Old Town Road makes me laugh too!
Old Town Road still makes me smile and it’s been weeks since I added it to my playlist, lol
Actually I listen to books while I run (and I’ve never heard of any of these 🙂 )
I’ve never tried listening to books but I bet it makes the miles go by quicker!
Some good ones on here for sure! Always looking for ideas to update my running playlists
Glad I was able to give you a few more ideas!
Trap country is the perfect description of that song – it’s like when Tim McGraw does some of his duets. I’m a country girl who loves some pop on a run, so I love these hybrids even more. I rarely to never listen to Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus but is there a better finish line song than Party in the USA, Bad Blood or even Mariah/ODB Fantasy remix?
And re: rules. ugh. Sorry. I think I forget the badge more than I remember it in any of the linkups. I promise to try.
I really love hybrid songs too. I actually still listen to the Linkin Park/Jay Z mashup CD – it’s one of my favorites!
Will have to look for that one.
I’ll listen to anything Jay-Z with the exception of Empire State of Mind because I am SO SICK of that song
