Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: FREE!. Today’s post will be all about my second PeloFondo experience. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
You may be asking – what exactly is PeloFondo? I’m glad you asked!
PeloFondo is a community event for Peloton Riders, focused on long distance mileage. There is no fee to join the event and riders can choose their distance goal between 35 and 120 miles. This event isn’t sponsored by Peloton, so you don’t get a special badge on your profile, but you do get bragging rights.
How did I approach my second PeloFondo?
Unlike last time, I split my mileage over both days. Last time I pledged 35 miles and this time I pledged 50 miles. Side note – I have no clue how people do 100 miles for this event. That’s just mind-blowing to me!
Luckily I had a bunch of Artist Series rides to catch up on so I decided to knock them out over the weekend. First I started with the Andrew Lloyd Webber rides. The music wasn’t really my jam but it was fine. After an intermission to take a 45 minute OTF class and start week 4 of the Arms with Tunde program, I went back to the bike to take the two Lizzo classes. These classes were really fun, and it was nice to do the Two For One class with one of my best friends that lives in North Carolina. She works in the medical field so her schedule is often crazy, but luckily she had the day off on Saturday.
On Sunday I planed to only do the 3 David Guetta rides. I saved these for the second day of PeloFondo because I knew the playlists would be amazing and help power me through to hit the rest of my 50 miles for the weekend. I even got an unexpected PR on the 45 minute David Guetta ride.
Final Thoughts
Overall, it was another great experience. Running and strength training continue to be my focus, but I am starting to enjoy cycling more. I always like a challenge so I’m glad something like PeloFondo exists. I think that the event could do a better job of promoting on social media. I had the dates marked in my calendar so I got an alert earlier in the week for the event, but other than that, I may have forgot about it.
The event takes place every 3 months so I plan on doing it again in October. I’m not sure if I will try for more than 50 miles, it just depends on what else I have going on that month.
Tell me: Have you ever done a long distance cycling event?

Topic for next week – Where I’ve been, A-Z: Letters A-I (this topic was borrowed from Judy). We hope you’ll link up with us!
Well done, Kim! I’ve never done 100 miles on a bike on a weekend. I’d love to try it one day.
Do you ever have trouble with your neck or butt when doing these long distances?
If anyone could do 100 miles in one weekend, it’s you!!
Great job, Kim! I didn’t realize it was this past weekend. Also, I didn’t know there were that many David Guetta rides. One day I will take Camila’s class.
The David Guetta rides are really good!
Congratulations! No, I’ve never done a long distance cycling event, but this sounds really fun. And you did it while also taking an OTF class and arms- it must have been quite a weekend!
Yeah the scheduled OTF class was an oops on my part, lol.
Well done Kim! You killed this and glad you were able to do even more than last time! I don’t cycle but I do get FOMO from my husband and kids so never say never. This might be me one day!
Thanks so much – it was a fun event! I love that there are so many riders that participate from all over the world.
You are awesome! Those Lizzo classes were seriously so dang fun,. I can see myself repeating them in the future. Way to set that goal and crush it even with some strength work in the mix!
Loved those Lizzo classes – I can’t stop talking about them!
well done! I like the idea of splitting it over 2 days, it sounds like a lot of riders do that. A great way to bang out some classes towards those milestones, I have not done one yet! Maybe next time.
Yes splitting it over 2 days worked much better for me this time and my legs weren’t as sore the next day.
Congrats. that’s a lot of miles in one weekend. Good idea to split it up.
Thanks Darlene! Totally agree – splitting up the miles was the way to go!
Great work, Kim. I am glad you enjoyed it 🙂
I can’t wait until the next one!
