Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: Show us your year in bling! You can write about this, or any other running topic. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
Sooo….how do you write about your year in bling when you didn’t run any races? Although I don’t have any traditional race medals, I do have Orangetheory Fitness goodies to share! I’ll basically torture myself all for items that I don’t really need, like shirts and water bottles. Honestly, it’s more about the bragging rights!
DriTri
I love the DriTri because it’s a great test of your endurance. I also hate the DriTri for the same reason, lol. It’s offered twice a year and luckily every time I’ve done it outside we have had beautiful weather! The DriTri consists of a 2,000 meter row, 300 bodyweight exercises (including lots of burpees) and a 3.1 mile run. In March we got really cool towels and a water bottle and in September we got an insulated water bottle.
Hell Week
Ahh the dreaded Hell Week. This is a week that truly lives up to it’s name. These workouts are brutal and often have me saying WTF at least twice during class. If you complete 5 of 8 classes, you get a shirt (either tank or short sleeve). This year’s shirt also glows in the dark!
12 Days of Fitmas
The best way to describe 12 Days of Fitmas is to take Hell Week and dress it up in a Santa costume, lol. The workouts are pretty rough, especially as the days go on. For example, on December 10 we had a 10 minute row block and on December 11 we had 11 minutes straight of bodyweight exercises. You have to complete 7 classes in 12 days and the reward is an awesome beanie. OTF didn’t do 12 Days of Fitmas last year, so it was nice to have it back again this year. I love this beanie and can’t wait to wear it, especially on outdoor runs 🙂
Tell me: Do you have a favorite medal from this year?

Haha, Kim, that’s so true about torturing yourself for stuff you don’t really need!
Every time I look into a swag bag and see the goodies I think “I already have a gazillion water bottles, buffs and T-shirts! But it’s still fun.
I love your OTF hard-core workouts. I couldn’t imagine doing that Dri Tri thing – I’d be exhausted after 2’000m row, never mind the 300 bodyweight exercises!
kookyrunner says
LOL exactly! I literally don’t need any more shirts or water bottles.

I’m so sad! For the first time ever, I won’t be doing a Bling Post! Last year, I had a few from before the start of the pandemic and then some from challenges during the year. This year I had no races but I did get two medals – one from a walk I did and the other was a medal for mileage done for a charity.
Wendy says
Those two count, IMO!
kookyrunner says
I agree Wendy!
kookyrunner says
I know what you mean! This year I thought I would have some bling but sadly didn’t run any races.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I love beanies! And towels! The water bottles, especially the plastic ones . . . I have a bag of them in my car trunk. You know, just in case. 🙂
You definitely earned bragging rights for surviving!
kookyrunner says
I love that we got a beanie this year for 12 Days of Fitness – it’s something I will definitely use.
Kimberly Hatting says
You definitely didn’t “sit this one out” in terms of being busy. Your swag came with a lot of sweat and determination, so well done!! I’m loving that beanie, too. And, it’s a given the skull tank from Hell Week is on-point 😉
kookyrunner says
Thanks #kimtwin! you’re right – I didn’t think of it that way, lol.
Wendy says
It was a weird year, wasn’t it? I have an ‘alternative’ bling too, from my hike and that’s definitely my favorite! All of our bling, running or not was earned. Never given, right?
kookyrunner says
Very true! Even if it’s not a “traditional” medal, it’s still earned!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Your OTF challenges sound intense so you deserve double the bling! The beanie is a fun piece of swag!
Thanks for the linkup and have a great rest of your week!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! Sometimes the OTF challenges, especially the DriTri, seems harder than a race!
Jenny says
Yeah, my “year” in bling would be one medal from the Turkey Trot I just ran. SIGH! I like your medal alternatives better though- towels, water bottle, shirts and hats are much more fun!
kookyrunner says
That’s still great that you were able to run a Turkey Trot last month!
Virjinia @ With Purpose and Kindness says
I love this! Just because it wasn’t a race doesn’t mean you didn’t push hard and crush it! My new gym does different kind of programming so I don’t have a “hell week” anymore and I kind of miss it, lol. It’s hard but I think it’s a huge mental aspect of getting up and making it to class knowing it’s going to be tough. Way to crush these events!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! Totally agree with you in regards to the mental aspect of having those “harder” classes.
Denise says
That’s some great swag! You definitely earned it all. Kim. I’m pretty sure I’ve mumbled WTF a few time in Pilates. Lol
kookyrunner says
thanks Denise!
Deborah Brooks says
It was a strange year indeed! Don’t forget all of those Peloton milestones and badges you earned as well. I managed to squeak out a few races the last few months..Cheers to next year!
kookyrunner says
Ahh good point Deborah! I totally didn’t count all of the Peloton milestones 🙂
Black Knight says
Actually I prefer “alternative medals” to bling but then the memories remain (bling) and the other things don’t.
The Hell Week shirt is very nice.
kookyrunner says
That’s a very good point!
Michelle says
I love all of your OTF swag – definitely hard-earned! That skull tank is so cool!
I agree with Deborah on all of the Peloton milestones you achieved. I think you did such an awesome job pushing yourself this year.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Michelle!
Zenaida Arroyo says
You crack me up! Yep, anything for a beanie, shirt, etc. But not me. 🙂 No bling or prize for me this year but hopefully next year.
kookyrunner says
Yes,, hopefully next year we will both have some bling to share!
