Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: It’s National Vitamin C Day – How do you get in your Vitamin C?
As you know, there is literally a national “day” for everything, and today is National Vitamin C Day. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a nutrient your body needs to form blood vessels, cartilage, muscle and collagen in bones. Vitamin C is also vital to your body’s healing process.
Our bodies do not produce Vitamin C, so it’s necessary to get it from foods or a supplement. Here are a few ways I get in my Vitamin C:
Smoothies
I enjoy smoothies with protein powder a few times a week. Often those smoothies have tons of spinach and at least 1/2 cup of berries (blueberries strawberries), which are both good sources of Vitamin C.
Clementines
Clementines are my favorite snack, especially in the summer. I love the taste and also that it’s a smaller citrus fruit.
Supplement
When my diet isn’t the best, I do take a Vitamin C supplement. My favorite one is made by Nature’s Bounty.
Tell me: How do you get in your Vitamin C?

I think I get most of my vitamin c through vegetables – broccoli, bell peppers and the like.
Clementines are great! I prefer them to oranges.
kookyrunner says
Me too! I find they are easier to eat because of their size and they just taste better.
Wendy says
I get my Vitamin C through food–I eat smoothies almost every day and I eat a ton of fruits and veggies. Who knew there was a vitamin C day?
kookyrunner says
I am convinced there is a “national day” for everything lol
Darlene says
I eat a lot of oranges. And veggies of course.
kookyrunner says
All great things to get in your vitamin C!
Coco says
I eat 1-2 clementines (or similar small oranges) with my lunch every day. In winter I also eat a grapefruit a few days a week. I love citrus!
kookyrunner says
Clementines are so yummy and easy to eat – I love them!
Kimberly Hatting says
I love my tomatoes and bell peppers! I also like citrus fruits, but tend to eat them more often in the warmer months. Vitamin C is pretty easy to find in “food” form, so I don’t worry about taking a supplement.
kookyrunner says
Same! I tend to eat more citrus fruit in the Winter and berries in the Summer.
Deborah Brooks says
there does seem to be a day for everything! As a vegetarian, I get lots of vitamin C daily from my fruits and veggies. Tomatoes and bell peppers are my fave!
kookyrunner says
Both are such good sources of Vitamin C!
Jenny says
I think as long as you eat a decent amount of fruits and vegetables, you’re getting your C. I almost linked my post today, since i had some food pictures with kale, but I decided that would be pushing it- I was pretty far off-topic!
kookyrunner says
Yup, I totally agree since so many foods offer Vitamin C
Zenaida Arroyo says
We both like smoothies! Now I do think I get enough Vitamin C. I was wondering if maybe I needed to take a supplement.
kookyrunner says
I agree. If I’m on point with my nutrition I think I get enough vitamin C.
Jenn says
I get my C through my food, but also through supplements. Vitamin C is my fave!
kookyrunner says
It’s great that we can get vitamin C through so many different types of foods.
