Happy Tuesday! I hope that everyone had an awesome holiday weekend. I was still in a slight food coma yesterday – there’s just something about holiday foods!
Today we’re talking about new gadgets. When it comes to fitness gadgets, I definitely have my fair share, but I don’t think that I go overboard. I always enjoy looking at all the latest and greatest gadgets but I really try to be smart when it comes to purchasing items. Let’s face it – how many variations of a foam roller do you need??
This week’s Tuesday Topic: What are some new fitness gadgets you’d like to try? You can write about this topic, or feel free to post any running related blog post. Remember to Link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
Here are a few fitness gadgets that I wouldn’t mind trying out in the near future.
So, I’ve actually already tried this one (but don’t own it). My ART doctor uses this gadget during every appointment and it always feels amazing, even though he only uses it on my back for a few minutes! It really gives your muscles a deep massage but it’s never painful. It’s $599 so it will most definitely not be added to my gadget collection until it goes on sale (and by sale I mean clearance), but it’s still nice to look at!
We all know that the number on the scale can be deceiving. I always wonder if the number goes up because of an increase in fat or muscle. The Skulpt Scanner looks like it could help me with this question. It measures body fat percentage in 24 different areas of your body. That may seem like a lot but I always believe that knowledge is power. It’s also not terribly overpriced at $99.
Bowflex Selecttech 560 Dumbbells
My current dummbell collection is slacking, big time. I only have a set of 5lb and 10lb weights. It would be nice to have an entire set that didn’t take up too much room in the basement. I love that the Bowflex Selecttech 560 Dumbbells can replace up to 30 individual sets of dumbbells and that the dumbbells can be adjusted from 10-60 lbs. It’s a little pricey at $499, but I feel like this would be something that I could use for many, many years.
Tell me: What are some new fitness gadgets that you’d like to try?

I have a set of weights similar to the Bowflex (but much cheaper). My biggest problem is it’s not really that quick to change the weights.
The Skulpt Scanner sounds really cool!
kookyrunner says
That’s good feedback about the weights as I was wondering how easy it would be to shift from size to size.

That theragun looks like something my carpenter husband has in his toolbox! I wonder if he could modify it.. :p
I have quite a few different foot massagers–after my lengthy battle with PF, I don’t ever want to go through that again!
kookyrunner says
LOL – it kind of does look like a tool!
Darlene says
The sculpt scanner sounds cool but scary.
I’d love to try:
a Peleton
a personal trainer
gym membership
newer Garmin
Oofos
When I win the lottery…lol
kookyrunner says
I’d love a personal trainer too!
Karen says
My PT used a Theragun on me and I LOVED it! Have you heard the latest craze on those? People are buying jigsaw’s off amazon and turning them into their own (cheaper) version of a theragun. Seriously. A coworker of mine who does crossfit did it and she loves it. I’m honestly scared to try it! Haha!
kookyrunner says
OMG – that sounds super unsafe!!
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
That theragun looks like it hurts so good. I would try it! I have a new torture device coming my way that I will share about once I test it. Thanks for the link up!
kookyrunner says
lol right?! It looks like it would be painful but it’s really not – it feels great!
Kimberly Hatting says
I’m kind of crushing on the dumbells that are adjustable. I have 2-lb (why???), 8-lb, and 12-lb. I also have a 15-lb kettlebell, which doesn’t see much action….
kookyrunner says
For some reason I always preferred free weights to the kettlebell too.
Shathiso says
Those adjustable weights look awesome! I wonder whether they have them in different colours, say pink or purple 😉
kookyrunner says
You never know! I’m sure there is a brand out there that has a similar system in different colors.
Coco says
You need more weights!! That weight set is neat, but since I use different weights during my workout, I wonder if it would be a pain to switch them out. I do need 12 lb weights and I still don’t have a Bosu ….
kookyrunner says
I know! I think I would be fine with a nice set ranging from 2.5-20 lbs.
Debbie says
Well, the Theragun makes the Hypervolt look cheap at $300! It’s similar and pretty amazing. We keep one at work so I have access for me and my clients. I so have the Myobuddy which I received through a campaign and love it too. And I have a vibrating massage ball, basically shaped like a large double lacrosse ball which I love and which only costs $60!
kookyrunner says
I still use my Myobuddy too!
Jenn says
Oh, I love those dumbbells! I only keep a couple of light weights in the house so those would be super convenient.
kookyrunner says
Having a good set of dumbbells would be so great!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
You picked some great gadgets! Some kind of high-powered massager would be amazing to have in my toolbox. I wish I had more weights at home! Definitely worth the splurge!
kookyrunner says
I agree! I think eventually I will end up getting a set of weights for the basement.
Laurie says
Those dumbbells look awesome. I have been using my hubby’s, but I need some of my own. By the way, I tried and tried to get on your website yesterday, but something weird was going on and I could not access it. I tried several different ways. Glad to see the problem is cleared up!
kookyrunner says
Unfortunately my website was down for about 8 hours yesterday 🙁 Luckily it was back up an working by the evening. Super stressful but it all worked out, thank goodness!
Cari says
Wow the combo dumbbells seem cool. Total space saver.
kookyrunner says
That’s the part that I like the best as well – I’m all about anything that can save space!
Chris Tiley says
I hadn’t heard of the Skulpt Scanner, I’ll def check that out. It’s one of my pet hates when people get too hung up on weight rather than body fat percentage, this should make it easier to measure.
kookyrunner says
I’m thinking of trying out the Skulpt Scanner too.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
That Theragun looks like one serious piece of hardware! I once saw a chiro who used a similar tool and I will say it was pretty amazing. Too bad it’s so crazy expensive!
kookyrunner says
Right? It feels so good though!
Marc Pelerin says
I just got ART done on my calf and he used the theragun on my calf and hamstring. Boy did it feel good!
kookyrunner says
I’ve never tried it on my calf but I really should!
Angela Cardamone @marathonsandmotivation.com says
I had not heard of any of these products! I think I would really like the Theragun though, I will have to look into it more for sure!!
kookyrunner says
It’s so good!
Esther says
I have not really tried any new gadgets lately. I did try out the Theragun G2Pro last year at my gym and it was really great, but WHOA on the price!
Those weights look so great and helpful, but again, the price!
kookyrunner says
I wish i had unlimited funds to purchase #allthegadgets LOL
Black Knight says
That Theragun looks interesting. I use a similare item since the time I had to recover after my shoulder incident. It works very well.
kookyrunner says
I’m glad that the similar item works well for you!
