Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: If you could run anywhere in the world, where would you run? You can write about this or any running related blog post. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
Well this is a fun topic for a year where we can’t really travel anywhere. I’ve actually given this topic a lot of thought over the past few months since I haven’t done a racecation in almost a year. I absolutely love racecations because they give me a chance to visit a new place and explore that city by foot. Here’s my list and I look forward to reading your list!
United States
Atlanta, Georgia
Yes, this city has my arch nemesis (hills, hills and more hills) BUT I hear it’s a beautiful city and the food scene there is supposed to be amazing.
Denver, Colorado
I don’t know too much about Denver but
Honolulu, Hawaii
Who wouldn’t want to run in Hawaii? Visiting Hawaii has always been on my bucket list and I’ve heard so many wonderful things about the Honolulu Marathon.
Seattle, Washington
One of my best friends moved to Seattle last year and I really want to visit her and explore the area. There are tons of races in the city, but I would really want to visit Pike’s Place and of course, Starbucks!
International
Australia
I have an image of me running next to a kangaroo. Of course, this will never happen, but it’s fun to think about, lol. But seriously, can you imagine how much fun it would be to run in Melbourne or Sydney?
Spain
I feel like Spain is a country rich with culture and architecture. It would be amazing to take a running tour of different cities there and learn more about the country’s history.
Italy
I’ll be 100% honest, I would probably do more eating than running if I ever get the chance to visit Italy, but I feel like that’s appropriate. I would eat so much pizza and pasta, and we can’t forget about the pastries. YUM!
Tell me: If you could run anywhere in the world, where would you run?

Right now, I’d just like to run in Chicago. I know it sounds dumb, but I’m just really missing racing in the city.
OMG me too! You know how much I love that city and I really do miss it 🙁
^^What Wendy said. The Shamrock Shuffle is the same weekend that we visit my SIL in Chicago every year, and I have serious FOMO over that race. I was registered this year and lol we all know how that turned out.
Beyond that…Australia sounds really awesome. I think I’d need a full month there at least.
For the past 5 years I’ve visited Chicago at least once a year. I was so sad to miss visiting this year because it’s my favorite city to visit.
Being a small-town gal, I love visiting the big cities. Seeing all the nonstop action is a nice change of scenery for me. I love my college town, but I think I’ve run every street, many times, in both directions LOL
Even though I grew up in a city, I agree with you about visiting the big cities. Chicago still remains my favorite big city to visit.
When my husband and I were dating, he lived in Australia and I visited a few times. One of my regrets is that I wasn’t a runner then as I would have loved to run there and even race!! We did some hiking which was a great experience. I think I’d like to run in some of my neighbouring countries. I’ve done South Africa (but not Cape Town which would be amazing) plus Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe – this year we had planned to run the Victoria Falls Half Marathon in Zim which would have been amazing. Plus a run in my mum’s home town in Norway. Now things just need to return to normal so I can get all this done, LOL!
That’s awesome! I bet your husband must have so many great stories about living there. I’d love to run in Cape Town one day.
Just sign me up. I love all the places that you picked.
I made a promise to myself to travel more once things are back to “normal” – whatever normal means now!
I’m right there with you on eating more than running in Italy. Had Spain happened, I’d have missed the Madrid half by one day. If that trip is rescheduled, I’ll plan better
I so wish I’d been a runner when I lived in Japan, Australia and others. I’ve since learned it’s a great way to sightsee.
Wow I didn’t know you lived in Japan and Australia! We’ll definitely have to talk about that whenever we’re able to meet up in person one day.
Absolutely. Hopefully the Oyster Festival will be a Thing next year as I love that and know it’s close-ish to you.
I moved to Japan three weeks before 9/11.
You’ve got some great pics! I went to Germany and Spain for the first time last year but I didn’t run at all since walking was enough of a workout! I’d love to go back there! And of course, Hawaii is high on the list!
I’m hoping to check Hawaii off my list next year!
What a great list! I realize from the cities you mentioned that I still have a lot to do in the US. I love the crowds at the US races. Oh, and I would love to run Boston one day!
I did run a few races in Spain which was fabulous. The Spanish have some great runners!
I’ve run a half marathon in Boston – it’s a fun city!
Australia, Spain, Italy, Iceland — these are all places I’m dying to go! And New Zealand of course.
Seattle is SO damn hilly. We’ve been visiting for like 15 years since we have relatives there (actually, our first trip was 25 years ago but i definitely wasn’t running then). I finally did find a relatively flat place to run the last time I visited.
Hawaii is so far our favorite place. We’ve been 3 times. Only a short time in Honolulu though (long enough to visit Pearl Harbor). Of course, we haven’t yet been to Australia, New Zealand . . . .
So many places. Sedona was a place I absolutely loved & would love to go back & explore more.
Denver is a fun city, we’ve been there several times.
I could co on and on obviously.
Icleand and New Zealand would be amazing! My friend already warned me about all the hills in Seattle, lol.
I have run in Spain and Italy and they do not disappoint. I loved running in Alaska a couple years ago and running across the San Francisco Bay bridge twice was epic!
I’ve run in San Diego but San Francisco would be awesome!
I’ve run in Seattle, Denver, and Atlanta but not Hawaii. It is also on my list. Europe should be fun too! Let me know and I will join you!
Sounds like a plan!
