Tuesday Topics: Running Items I’ve Tried This Year

Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: Running Items I’ve Tried This Year. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post. Since most of my running is on the treadmill, I’m going to share some non-traditional running/workout products that I discovered this year.

Slim Minimalist Front Pocket Wallet

I haven’t used a normal purse since March 2020. I am proud member of ‘Team Fanny Pack’ and I also use a cross over bag sometimes. Because of this, I don’t use my large wallet when I leave the house – I just bring the essentials. I wanted a safe way to carry my cards and ID so I purchased these slim wallets. I also love this wallet because it also fits in the pocket of my leggings for my outdoor runs. I can put my ID, one credit card, my house key and cash all in the wallet and then tuck it away in my pocket. Not only it is safe, but it’s also an efficient way to carry those items.

KF94 Face Masks

I still wear a mask anytime I am indoors, so this includes my OTF classes. Now I won’t lie and say the masks are super comfortable but they are the best masks I have found for working out. These KF94 face masks are lightweight, but offer great protection because of the layers and adjustable nose clip. Also, the ear straps do not irritate my ears because they are not too tight.

POWERADE Sports Freezer Bars

I found the Powerade sports freezer bars on Amazon a few weeks ago and I really like them! It’s strange because I don’t drink Gatorade or Powerade while doing training runs or during races, but these freezer bars don’t upset my stomach. I like to eat one after a hard workout like a Saturday60 bootcamp or an Orangetheory Fitness class. When I do, I noticed I don’t feel as tried post-workout. Here’s a little more information about them:

The future of electrolytes is here with POWERADE Sports Freezer Bars. When frozen, these frozen bars match the electrolyte levels of ready-to-drink POWERADE on a per ounce basis. Formulated with ION4 Advanced Electrolyte System and B Vitamins, Powerade Sports Freezer Bars help replenish electrolytes that are lost in sweat. The frozen popsicle format of Powerade Sports Freezer Bars is the perfect way to refuel after playing sports, exercising or enjoying outdoor activities so you can keep going strong.

Tell me: Have you discovered any cool new running items in 2022?

Those Powerade Freezer Bars make sense! Cold, refreshing and full of electrolytes. These would also be good to stuff in your hydrovest flasks so that you have a cool drink.
I wonder if you could freeze regular Powerade to get the same result?

That’s a great idea for the Powerade freezer bars! It would feel awesome during a long run, especially in the summer heat.

Those slim wallets are nice! I have a similar one that came with a matching coin purse (the wallet part actually fits inside the coin purse). It’s handy because of its slim size & silhouette…perfect for stashing in my pocket of my shorts or biking jersey 🙂

The slim size is so convenient! I often look at my purses in my closet and tell them I’m sorry for not using them, lol.

I have a small wallet that fits in a pocket — I’ve had it many years. Now I usually just have things in my pockets without it. The only real downside is that I have to remember to removed things from the pockets! Sometimes I forget and have to go looking for my keys or license — and recently I laundered the $20 bill I always carry.

I almost always use a mask indoors, too — so thanks for the recommendation!

no problem – always happy to share mask recommendations. it’s so hard to find ones that you like. I’ve been using these for over 6 months and love them.

I always wear a mask at work, obvi, but also when I go to a store or when traveling. I was wearing my N95, the kind we wear at work, but I found some masks similar to yours that are much more comfortable. I also use a fanny pack or a crossbody. I hate carrying a purse, lol.

I tried running snowshoes this year, but only once, so the jury’s out on that one. Besides new clothing and shoes, I can’t think of anything else exciting!

I also have N95 masks that I use for when I go to the supermarket but I found them too thick for my workouts. The KN94 masks seem lighter even though they have a few layers of protection.

Ooh! I’ll bet those sports freezer bars would taste AMAZING after a long, hot run.
I didn’t bring a purse on my recent trip, just used a fanny pack. But I just put my cash and credit cards in the front pocket of that and it was kind of annoying- I need a slim wallet!

For sure! Since I’m not training I am not really doing long runs but I know the freeze bars would taste amazing after that.

I have a similar wallet (!) and the KN94s are my favorite masks to wear, too. I haven’t exercised with them though.

A cool new running item I discovered (but haven’t bought yet)… a running shirt with pockets! I love that idea.

I used to freeze half of the water in my handheld so my water would stay cool during the run but it only lasted like 15 minutes, lol. I love the freezer pops!

Those little flat wallets look very handy for stuffing in cycling jerseys. I wouldn’t have a place to put it when running unless during the winter when it’s cold enough for a jacket or capris.

Oh, I bet those Powerade freezer bars are refreshing after a hard workout!

    Thanks for the linkup!

I have a small pocket wallet. I love it because it fits in the pocket of my skirts. I use it a lot when I travel so I don’t have to carry a purse.

I am now on team fanny pack and those wallets look great! I may have to get one of those myself. My husband has actually tried those ice pops at work. I had no clue what they were but he said they’re great. I think a cold treat like that after a workout or working outside is the best!
