Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: share your home gym! Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
Let me start off by saying that I feel super lucky to have workout equipment in the basement of our house. I know that’s definitely considered a luxury and I don’t take it for granted! I would say our home gym really started to come together last year. I ordered a few sets of dumbbells right before everything shut down due to Covid-19. As I spent more time in home gym, I started to think of ways to shift equipment to make the most of the space in the room. I finally achieved the look I envisioned in the Spring and I love the results! Here’s a quick look into my home gym.
Treadmill
The Peloton treadmill was added to the home gym family a few months ago. When re-doing the room, I first started with the treadmill to make sure it was in a safe location, facing away from the wall. After that was set up, I moved everything else around. There’s also enough space behind the treadmill to safely do the strength portions for the treadmill bootcamps.
Towels and Accessories
This basket is perfect for holding all my gym accessories – multiple towels, lifting gloves, jump rope, foam knee pad, etc. I like having everything in one spot so that I can easily grab what I need before or during a class. It saves me a lot of time in the mornings as well.
Bike
We’ve had our Peloton bike for about 3.5 years and it’s such a great investment! With the addition of bike bootcamps, I moved the bike in front of this wall so that I would have space behind it to do the strength portions of those classes.
Dumbbells
This might be my favorite area of the home gym. Although I need a bigger weight rack, this will do for now. I love that I have a variety of weights ranging from 5-30lbs to help me get stronger!
Tell me: What’s the favorite part of your home gym?

You have all the essentials I would want in a home gym! I bet you get a lot of use out of it, especially the Peloton bike.

I actually wasn’t using the bike that much pre-covid because I was at OTF 5-6 days a week. Obviously that has all changed now, lol.

That’s a neat gym, Kim! I have a similar basket with a gym mat, towel and bands – but it stands in our front room of our tiny apartment. I love your weight rack. I have dumbbells ranging from 2 – 20 lbs but I have to adjust the weights, which isn’t as practical.
Do your parents use the gym as well?
kookyrunner says
I love the basket because I feel like it has all my essentials in one place. Definitely makes those early morning workouts easier.
My mom uses the gym too so it’s definitely well worth it!

Nice set-up, Kim!! How about I start by telling you my least favorite part of my “home gym?” That would be Milly LOL Since everyone knows how I really feel about her, I’ll just leave it at that LOL As much as I love being outside, and definitely prefer that to my indoor options, I am quite grateful to HAVE indoor options when Momma N isn’t playing nice. I would like to add a few more options to my dumbbells, but the ones I have have worked well.
kookyrunner says
Thanks #kimtwin 🙂 LOL I somehow knew that Milly would make it into the home gym conversation!
Deborah Brooks says
You know I do love a great home gym! I don’t think I ever will feel the need to go back to a studio for workouts again. All things Peloton have changed my perspective.
kookyrunner says
Same here. While I love OTF I honestly don’t need it because of all the great Peloton content. The one that that does keep me going to OTF is the community or members and also the awesome coaches.

It’s so wonderful to be able to work out at home, isn’t it, Kim?
My treadmill might actually be my favorite part (I can just hear all the shudders from other runners). Even though I do most of my running outside, it’s so nice to have that option when the weather isn’t good.
kookyrunner says
LOL! You know I don’t mind running on the treadmill so now shudders from me, haha.

Nice set up.
The only thing I have is a bike. I only got it because I was stuck at during the pandemic. Haven’t used it in a long time.
kookyrunner says
Hopefully you will get to use your bike more soon, maybe as the weather gets colder outside.
Jessie says
You have a wonderful home gym Kim! I would never leave 🙂
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jessie! I really do love my home gym and I’m so thankful it has all the essentials for a kick-ass workout.

Awesome that you have a tread AND a bike and space for a weight rack. I am definitely envious (in the best possible way!) of the dedicated workout room you have! That would be a dream! I currently have my spin bike in the living room and everything else (mat, yoga blocks, weights) stacked in a corner.
kookyrunner says
Thanks San! The home gym really came together over the last year or so, especially the weights and weight rack.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
You’ve got a great range of weights. And 30s! wow! My top weight is only 15. I really love having a mirror in my basement gym so I can monitor my form. It’s become really handy when my son works out with me because he has needed some corrections (he’s new to it!). I like your space!
kookyrunner says
i can only use the really heavy weights for leg exercises like sumo squats and deadlifts – definitely no bicep curls or anything like that, lol. A mirror is one thing I am definitely missing in my home gym – that’s a great idea!
Jenny says
Wow- you have actually turned your basement into a gym! I especially like your variety of dumbbells. You’re really set up for anything- no wonder you’re crushing all those Peloton classes every week!
kookyrunner says
Let’s just say we had a lot of free time during the lockdown to explore the best way to utilize the basement space lol.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Great gym! I love it! I need that fan too. I do get really hot on the bike as well.
kookyrunner says
OMG I get SO hot every time I workout, no matter what I’m doing, lol
Cari says
The basket is a game changer. Gave me an away to put things in which makes me feel less like it’s messy since it’s behind me on zoom
kookyrunner says
Definitely! And if I didn’t have a basket I know I would forget to bring something for workout, like lifting gloves.
