Happy Tuesday! Since Valentine’s Day is this week, love is in the air π I don’t know about you, but my Valentine this year is running (and pizza..and wine).
This week’s Tuesday Topic: What do you love about running? You can write about this topic, or feel free to post any running related blog post. Remember to Link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
There are so many things that I love about running, but here are a few of highlights!
Running Friends
Runners are a special breed. Sometimes we do things that don’t make sense to a lot of people like:
– Waking up at 5am on a Saturday to get in a long run OR
– Paying money to run a race OR
– Running on vacation or during a racecation
You get the idea π I feel very lucky to have met my ‘tribe’. Through blogging and social media, I’ve connected with so many women runners, and I’ve been lucky enough to meet many of them in person. I’m happy to say that I consider all of these women to be my friends and I can’t wait to see some of them again (hopefully this year)!

Running Blogs
Throughout the years I have come across a lot of running blogs that I love. I’ve even highlighted a few of these blogs in different posts:
Ten Blogs I Love
Five Blogs I Love
Blogs I Love (Part 3)
Blogs I Love (Part 4)
(Some of these blogs are from a few years ago, but I believe most of these bloggers are still active!)
Confidence
While I still doubt my running abilities when it comes to certain things, I am glad to say that running has definitely given me more confidence. I really felt this boost in confidence after I completed my first marathon. This as something that I thought would be impossible a few years ago and I actually did it! After that, I became more confident in my personal life as well.
Memes
It’s no surprise that I love to laugh. I’m also a sucker for memes but I find running memes to be some of the funniest. I feel like you can find a meme for basically any running situation. Here are a few of my favorites:
Tell me: What do you love about running?

Topic for next week – What are your cold weather running essentials? We hope you’ll link up with us!
I’m also linking up with Lora from Crazy Running Girl, Marc from Train With Marc and Debbie from Coach Debbie Runs for Coaches’ Corner!
Yes to all! I donβt go looking for memes but I definitely enjoy a good one.
Non runners just donβt get it & to think just 10 years ago I was a non runner!
Agreed! Some of my non-running co-workers think I’m crazy for all of my racecations, lol
When you asked the question “What do you love about running?” the first response that came to mind was “everything!” I am back to just “running” on the elliptical now, but on the road to recovery. I miss being on the actual road, though. I think the thing I love most about running is my running friends!
I am glad that you are on the road to recovery!
I love so many things about running and will definitely agree that being a part of the community is the best. I hope we get to see each other this year – my race calendar is still so empty!
Being a part of the running community is really the best! I know that social media sometimes gets a bad rap but I love it for introducing me to so many great people.
The things I love about running are all that you listed above – running on vacay, getting up early on Saturday mornings for a long run, and running friends! It really is the best! π
Sometimes I feel weird if I don’t run on a Saturday morning!
A big YES to all of this – especially to running friends! I’m so glad you’re a part of my tribe and can’t wait to see you this year!
100% agree! And how lucky am I that I get to see you TWICE this year! π
The memes are great! And it’s so true about the confidence. Running has definitely given me more courage to try new things, even if I might not be that good at them.
Yes, exactly that! Running has also given me confidence to try new things. Things that may have seemed impossible before don’t seem that way any more.
Yes to all.
It wouldn’t be a vacation without a race. And only a runner gets it!!
LOL right?! If I don’t run when I visit a new place I feel weird, lol
The top meme is one of my all-time favorites! “I Thought They Said Rum” was the name of our Ragnar DC team one year and we used that image on our magnets that we used to “tag” other vans. The team name was my son’s idea. I raised him right! π
That’s so cool that you use “I Thought They Said Rum” as your Ragnar team name, LOL!
I am so glad I have found so many great running blogs (including yours!) – definitely a part I love about running.
Oh, the runner’s memes are always so much fun. LOL
Thanks so much San – I enjoy your blog too π The running memes always make me laugh because I can relate to about 95% of them, lol.
Thanks so much for linking up with us this week.
i love this post <3 i pretty much agree with you. running has brought me so much. Fun, Friends, good times, heartache, confidence, travel, sometimes free stuff, meeting people like you in person along the way (who knew we'd meet when I first did my runner interview with you?!??), confidence, ability to accept things that are just what they are, grit, determination, drive that I never knew I had, taking chances on OTHER physical activities… so many things. running is a true love and even a life saver!
I wish I could like this comment multiple times because I SO agree with everything you said! I can’t wait to see you in October π
I am so bummed for missing the RnR race in July! For sure I will see you in April in DE.
Yes, looking forward to seeing you in April!
I love everything you mentioned and then some. Running is such an amazing sport, and it continues to give back 10-fold (if not more). I”m SOOOO glad I finally got to meet you in Chicago, and then again in Philly! Hoping we can meet up again soon π
I agree – Running has given me so much! I feel lucky that I was able to see you twice last year and hope to see you again this year.
I’d agree with all those things! What a lovely post (and I love the memes!)
Thanks Liz!
I just want to copy and paste this post and say I wrote it!! LOL. I love the same things as you do – the running friends (and yes we are such a special breed!). A friend of mine was at someone’s 40th birthday party, had lots of wine and came home late. But the very next morning… 5 am… there she was ready for our long run! That’s who we are and what we do and no one really gets it but us! I’ve also loved this blogging community and “meeting” you and others has just been amazing.
Oh yes, doing a weekend run on very little sleep and/or hungover is a right of passage for a runner, lol
The friends and the memes for sure. There are so many funny ones! π€£
The memes are the best!
I don’t know what I did for friends and a social life before running! My running friends and running community (IRL and on line) have become a group I treasure.
Haha me too! It’s hard to make friends as an adult but running has made it a little easier.
LOL at the memes. I think that marathon one was me the other day.
I really love the friends that running has brought me, both actual and virtual. I especially love it when the virtual becomes the actual and I get to run my blogging or social media friends.
Me too! It’s the best when you meet online friends IRL π
I love a lot about running but I think I love that it helps me live a happy and healthy lifestyle the most!
Same! I hope to continue running for many years to come due to the health benefits.
I absolutely love the community. And it’s amazing that all my running friends love food as much as I do so it’s a great group to run with and throwdown with lol. And the memes are great! It’s kind of like “embracing the suck” together and it makes it that much funnier!
Haha yes, we do love food! Often I think about my post run meal during a long run, haha.
For me, it’s definitely the competition that I love. I love seeing if I can be better than I was yesterday or last year. I’m always striving to be just a little bit smarter, stronger, faster!
Thanks for sharing!
Running is definitely a great way to challenge yourself!
I love those memes! LOL There really are a fair amount that are running related.
What I love about running is the freedom, the “me time.” I started back to running when my girls were teenagers and it was my “me time,” my time out of the house, away from teenage attitude and drama, a time for me to reset, think (or not think) and just generally BE. Kids are grown (although, the drama and attitude hasn’t really changed in one of them) but I still appreciate the time alone with myself. <3
I’m always surprised at how many running memes there are, LOL
I agree that running is really great me time. It’s a great opportunity for me to leave work stress behind and just clear my mind.
My reasons for loving running have changed over the years. For me at this point in time, it’s all about the friendships! I hope we get to do another race together again.
Me too! If not, at least I will hopefully get to see you in Chicago in October.
I love my running friends! When I request off work for different racecations, I feel like my supervisor probably does not understand why I enjoy this hobby, but fellow runners get it!
LOL same for me, but now my co-workers just ask “where are you going to run” instead of “where are you going for vacation” LOL
I will run a lot of places for rum!
t’s funny how we will get up stupid early and pay money for races and all taht stuff, but we do it because we love running and don’t mind how crazy that all sounds.
Running memes rock, too.
LOL me too! I’d also run for champagne π
Yes, when you think about it, it’s pretty crazy what we do, especially when it comes to those early wake up calls for races!
Can’t wait to see you again in fall! When I started running I had no idea about the tribe. Truly it’s the best part for me.
Same! I really value my all the friendships I’ve made in the running community and can’t wait to see you this Fall!
I completely agree with you on the people, but especially the confidence. I have learned so much about who I am through running. It’s magic
I couldn’t agree more. The running community is full of amazing people.
