Happy Tuesday! It seems like February went by in the blink of an eye and now we’re suddenly in March! Since it’s the first Tuesday of the month that means its time for another edition of Tunes Tuesday!
Today’s theme is “Pump Up Jams” but since my marathon is less than two weeks away (eek!), I thought I would highlight some songs on my playlist for the Shamrock Marathon. For me, music can really help to make my runs much more enjoyable. When my legs are burning and I just want to stop, a good upbeat song can totally change my attitude. Here are some of my current favorite songs on my marathon playlist.
Song: Stayin’ Alive
Album: Saturday Night Fever: The Original Movie Soundtrack
Artist: Bee Gees
Genre: Disco
Year Released: December 1977
This might seem like a weird choice but I’m a HUGE fan of Disco music. I also like ” rel=”noopener” target=”_blank”>this version by Wyclef Jean (both versions are on my playlist).
Song: Thunder
Album: Believe
Artist: Imagine Dragons
Genre: Pop
Year Released: April 2017
I’ve been really enjoying a lot of Imagine Dragons lately, especially this song.
Song: Finesse (Remix)
Album: 24K Magic
Artist: Bruno Mars f/ Cardi B
Genre: Funk
Year Released: November 1996
I’m totally obsessed with this song and video. I’m a sucker for anything with an early 90’s vibe.
Song: God’s Plan
Album: Scary Hours
Artist: Drake
Genre: Trap
Year Released: January 2018
I love the concept for this video. It’s nice to see artists give back when they can, especially in a music video. It’s currently the #1 song in the country so I think a lot of people feel the same way about the song.
Song: Shake
Album: U.S.A. (United State of Atlanta)
Artist: Ying Yang Twins f/ Pitbull
Genre: Southern Hip Hop
Year Released: August 2005
I mean it’s Pitbull and the Ying Yang Twins. Of course this song was going to be good!
Do you make a playlist for your races?
I’m also linking up with Marcia from Marcia’s Healthy Slice, Erika from MCM Mama Runs and Patty from My No-Guilt Life for Tuesdays on the Run.
I use a lot of pump up jams on my playlist. I shuffle my playlists, so I need some good songs throughout the whole race.
Me too! I’m constantly adding pump up jams to all my playlists to give me a boost of energy.
Great songs! I’m a disco fan as well and have some BeeGees on my playlist. Woot for two weeks til GO time!
Thanks Marcia! Disco music just always makes me smile and puts me in a good mood!
Great list! Iโm also an imagine dragons fan! Best of luck with your marathon! I know youโre going to do great!!
Thanks so much Karen! The music from Imagine Dragons is really growing on me!
I do love me some Bruno. I don’t know if I could run to it because I’d be seriously stopping to dance in the street!
You’ve got some good ones here!
LOL I have come across that problem during training runs, but sometimes a quick dance break is necessary!
Haha, that has totally happened to me during a race but a mini mid-race dance session isn’t a bad thing ๐
You’ve got some great songs on your playlist! I have to admit I haven’t heard the Drake song yet…
I haven’t made a race-specific playlist in a while but I have a marathon playlist that I add more songs to from time to time. I might need to add some Ying Yang Twins, lol!
I think you’ll really like the new Drake song!
I will caution you that adding Ying Yang Twins to your playlist might result in some mid-race twerking lol
Yessss. Love all these tunes – God’s Plan by Drake is my hubby’s new fav and he won’t stop singing it lol.
LOL, same! I find myself singing it randomly.
My current favorite song on my running playlist is Ponteme by Jenn Morel! I just love that song!
Thanks for the recommendation!
I have one playlist on Amazon Prime that I listen to while I run or when I’m at school. I also have a couple more in my Ipod. I pick one depending on my mood. ๐
Same here. I have about 5 different playlists on my ipod that I use. Like you said, all depends on the mood!
