This week is all about pump up songs. You know, those songs that give you a little extra power to finish up your run or workout. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of rap music when I feel like lifting a little heavier or running a little faster. These songs have been re-introduced to my playlist this week because they’re just fun!
Song: Back That Thang Up
Album: 400 Degreez
Artist: Juvenile f/ Mannie Fresh and Lil Wayne
Genre: Hip Hop/Bounce/Dirty Rap
Year Released: February 1999
I remember jamming to this song way back in high school (I was probably a sophomore). I’m sure my parents would not have appreciated me listening to this back then, lol. This song, and video, just screams 90s hip hop to me.
Song: Can I Get A…
Album: Vol 2…Hard Knock Life, Def Jam’s Rush Hour Soundtrack
Artist: Jay-Z f/ Amil and Ja Rule
Genre: Hip Hop
Year Released: August 1998
How can you hear this song and not get pumped up? The only problem is that sometimes I’d rather dance to this song instead of working out, lol.
