Happy Sunday. Is it just me or has January felt like a long month? Maybe it’s all the chaos of the political climate mixed in with the pandemic. Regardless, I was thankful for a 3-day weekend and a shortened work week.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, January 18
Orangetheory Fitness – Power (45 minutes)
Peloton Core Strength 6/27/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
Peloton Power Walk 11/1/20 – Adrian (30 minutes)
The OTF Transformation Challenge started today and I was happy to see a power day workout on the schedule since those are quickly becoming my favorite. I did my weigh-in before class and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but I still wanted to curse out the machine, lol. I did another power walk class with my friend once I got home after class.
It was nice to have the day off for MLK Day. I usually like to do a service activity on this day, but there weren’t many in-person volunteering events available so I dropped off some items to a food drive that was being hosted by my mom’s school.
Tuesday, January 19
Peloton Club Bangers Ride 12/19/20 – Alex (45 minutes)
Peloton Arms & Shoulders Strength 6/13/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Walk + Run 1/6/21 – Adrian (20 minutes)
Started off the day celebrating my 400th Peloton ride! I didn’t mind celebrating my milestone with an on-demand ride because I knew it would be fun (I looked at the playlist beforehand). Alex’s energy was infectious so it was a great way to celebrate. The arms & shoulders class was only 10 minutes but that was really all that was needed for total arm burnout! The walk +run class was 2 minutes of running with one minute of walking which was perfect as I’m still trying to go easy on my knee.
Wednesday, January 20
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance (45 minutes)
Peloton Tiesto Ride 1/15/21 – Erik (30 minutes)
Peloton Glutes & Leg Strength 4/25/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
Happy Inauguration Day! I woke up with a little more pep in my step. It feels good to have hope for the future again.
There’s a 12 minute run for distance benchmark at the end of the month and this class was prep for that. I’m keeping my pace slower due to my knee so it actually wasn’t too bad. I just kept a nice consistent pace throughout the run.
Thursday, January 21
Peloton Tiesto Run 1/13/21 – Becs (30 minutes)
Peloton Tiesto Ride 1/13/21 – Matt (30 minutes)
Peloton Tiesto Full Body Strength 1/14/21 – Ben (20 minutes)
I enjoyed all of the Tiesto classes. I knew that he was a DJ but didn’t realize that he was featured in a lot of different songs that I enjoy. I think I liked the run the best because Becs always have the best energy – I love her attitude!
Friday, January 22
Orangetheory Fitness – Power (45 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Ride 12/18/20 – Robin (20 minutes)
Peloton AHM: Bollywood Arms Toning 5/26/20 – Kendall (10 minutes)
Peloton Core Strength 3/15/20 – Cody (5 minutes)
Peloton Power Walk 8/10/20 – Matty (20 minutes)
I don’t usually go to OTF on Fridays but it was a benchmark day and I didn’t want to miss it. I haven’t done the 200 meter benchmark row in over a year so I was curious to see if I would be faster and luckily I was. I was happy with my time but I think I can do a little bit better. Even shaving off another 1-2 seconds would be good!
I’m also loving the Year of Yes classes because all of the instructors always drop nuggets of wisdom or great mantras. I’m actually going to start writing down the great things I hear during the classes so I can refer back to them later.
Saturday, January 23
Peloton UK Celebration Ride 9/24/19 – Leanne (20 minutes)
Peloton Advanced Full Body Tread Bootcamp 1/23/21 – Jess (60 minutes)
Peloton Chest & Back Strength 6/18/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
I slept in until 8am and I swear I felt like a brand new person when I woke up. I think my body needed the extra rest! Started off the morning riding virtually with Kim and Coco π Then it was time for a live #Saturday60 tread bootcamp class. It was very spicy, as usual!
Sunday, January 24
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance (45 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Ride 12/21/20 – Robin (20 minutes)
Peloton Pride: Arms Toning 6/20/20 – Kendall (10 minutes)
Peloton Core Strength 3/18/18 – Denis (5 minutes)
Another morning where I just couldn’t get it together to wake up early. I usually hit up the supermarket earl on Sunday mornings to get my grocery shopping done for the week but it was 4 degrees when I woke up and I was still tired so I just rolled back over and went to sleep. I guess my body just needed the extra hours of rest this weekend.
Thankfully I didn’t have my OTF class until 10am. It was an expected 3G class which meant equal time (14 minutes) on the rower/floor/treadmill as opposed to 22 minutes on the treadmill and floor. I was super happy about this because I really didn’t feel like running on the treadmill today.
Total Weekly Mileage: 12 miles
Summary: 7 runs*, 1 bootcamp, 6 cycle and 12 OTF/strength classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 210/211
Grade This Week β A
Week 1 of the OTF Transformation Challenge is complete! It was a good week in terms of my workouts but the nutrition was hit or miss. I am planning on doing some meal prepping this afternoon so that should hopefully help me make smarter choices throughout next week.
My mom and I went ahead and placed the order for the Peloton treadmill and scheduled a delivery date for mid-March. Hopefully we will get the treadmill on the date that we scheduled. The delivery company that Peloton uses is notorious for re-scheduling deliveries so I’ll just keep my fingers crossed. I’m definitely looking forward taking the bootcamp classes on the treadmill!
I found out earlier today that I won a giveaway hosted by Phrase Lounge and Love & Paper Design Co! I can’t wait to hang up the poster in my basement, right near the weight rack. I know it will provide inspiration, especially when doing Peloton strength and bootcamp classes!
…and now for this week’s memes π This week we have a special ‘Bernie edition’!
That’s it! I hope you had a great week π
Iβm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
In Case You Missed It
Tuesday Topics: What I learned about myself during the pandemic
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I had a feeling you’d have Bernie memes. π
Great week of fitness, Kim! I’m sure meal prepping will help on the nutrition side. Somehow I’m just not that good at it. I know it helps and then somehow I just put it off.
kookyrunner says
LOL, you know it! There were so many amazing ones to choose from!
With the meal prepping I can only do it for a few days at a time. I get sick of eating the same thing over and over so if I meal prep on Sundays I only do enough to carry me through to Wednesday.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
I am dying over Bernie! Wednesday was a heavy meeting day so I was constantly sneaking peaks at my phone and then watched the inauguration that night. As for the poster, “but did you die?” is my all time favorite.
kookyrunner says
There Bernie memes have been amazing. Each day I see new ones and they crack me up even more!
That poster has so many cool quotes, lol.
Deborah Brooks says
Oh the Bernie memes this week really cracked me up! Very exciting on the tread! I am sure you will love it. Way to crush the workouts this week. I have those same posters that you won. I love them and. a great addition to your home gym. Have a great week!
kookyrunner says
The Bernie memes got more attention than the inauguration lol! I’m so excited to get the poster! I know they also sell one that has just Jess Sims quotes and I think I will probably order than one too eventually.
Wendy says
OMG, fitness-themed Bernie memes! I love them. I also love the Power Rangers caption. I pretty much love everything this week. What a difference from a week ago, right?
Nice week of workouts, Kim! I have been on the waiting list for the book The Year of Yes and it just came in today! I can’t wait to read it. Sounds like the perfect read for this year.
kookyrunner says
The fitness Bernie themes were the best, LOL. Totally crazy the difference a week makes, seriously!
I hope you like the book! It was an easy read and it really made me think about not shooting down opportunities and saying yes more than no.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Love the Bernie memes! I agree that January has felt SO long. Congrats on the new treadmill! I hope it comes on time!
kookyrunner says
The Bernie memes have been the highlight of the week!
Coco says
I knew youβd have the best of the Bernie memes! Congrats on your 400th ride and WOW on the Tread+! Canβt wait to hear what you think of the knob controls β they worry me with my lack of coordination on the run.
Good luck with the OTF Transformation Challenge!
kookyrunner says
There were so many great Bernie memes to choose from – it was very hard to narrow it down!
I know it’s going to take me a while to get used to the knobs on the treadmill, lol.
Darlene S Cardillo says
lol so many Bernie memes.
Sorry I missed the ZOOM bike ride. I ran and froze. Biking would have been a better choice.
Today was cold but not as much wind and I admit, the sun felt good!
I love 3 day weekend. We have another in Feb!!
You are killing those OTF workouts!
kookyrunner says
The Bernie memes have give me so much joy this week, lol. Kudos to you for running outdoors this weekend – it was so cold and windy!
Zenaida Arroyo says
How exciting about the treadmill! I was this close to making an appointment to check it out but decided against it since I know I won’t buy one anytime soon. Love the Bernie memes!!
kookyrunner says
I was hesitant to make an appt because I knew I would probably like it and want to buy it lol.
Zenaida Arroyo says
By the way, sleeping in and getting much needed rest feels wonderful.
Kimberly Hatting says
Oh, poor Bernie LOL I gotta say, I’m not his biggest fan, but I actually felt sorry for everyone making fun of him. Anyways, wow, what a week of sweat equity you had !Lots of great stacks (#fistbump). SO fun seeing/riding with you yesterday π
kookyrunner says
It seems like he took it all in stride – he is selling sweatshirts with the photo and giving all the proceeds to charity!
Cari says
Oh my god, hadn’t seen the Power Rangers one. But I’m with you on hope & optimism and trust. Loved all the Bernie memes. Hadn’t seen some of yours.
Congrats on your 400th ride. That’s amazing.
It’s kind of funny – when I used to think about moving out of the city it was for things like place to park a car (which I no longer have). Then it was and still is outdoor space. Now? Oh I could have a stationary bike when I can’t run. Don’t think I need or want a Peloton but we had a bike growing up and I always enjoyed it. Glad you were able to order a Tread. Hope the knee continues to improve. Do you even really weigh in if you don’t yell at it?
kookyrunner says
I feel like there are 800 Bernie memes – I’m sure I’ll see some new ones tomorrow, lol.
When I look at places to purchase I always think “will there be space for a small home gym”. That is definitely a new mindset that started last year.
Cari says
and do I want to risk someone above me having a treadmill. I so lucked out in this place, top floor, not sure I could do someone above me again. I’m still working on a yoga nook, but I’ll get there. Isn’t it weird how our brain shifts?
kookyrunner says
Totally valid thoughts! There’s so much to consider.
Marcia says
Congrats on your 400th ride and all the best with the transformation challenge. Omg the Bernie memes are the best! I can totally relate to the one waiting on Staten Island. Haha! Great memories.
How fun you’re getting the Peloton mill.. My BIL loves his. Hopefully it’ll show up sooner than later.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Marcia! The 400th ride kind of snuck up on me so I was glad I remembered it lol. I think the State Island Bernie meme was the best. I felt like I was waiting there all day before actually starting the marathon!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I have been loving all of the Bernie memes! And, I love that Power Rangers one…definitely feeling more hopeful these days.
How exciting about the Peloton tread! Hopefully, they’re getting better about delivery. I did get my bike on the day it was supposed to arrive. Those posters you won are great – perfect additions to your home gym set up!
Congrats on your 400th ride!
kookyrunner says
The Power Rangers one was great! That’s definitely how I felt on Wednesday. It’s nice to have renewed sense of hope – something that’s been missing for four years.
That’s great news that your bike came on the actual delivery date. I hope that means that their delivery issues are hopefully not as bad now.
Liz Dexter says
Fab memes and a good week for you, too. Hooray for extra sleep, right?!
kookyrunner says
Yes, hooray for extra sleep. Always a good thing! I hope you had a great birthday π
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
How exciting that you and your mom decided to order the Peloton treadmill! I’m sure it’s a quality machine. Fingers crossed that it arrives when you scheduled it and they don’t move it back to later. Waiting longer than necessary would be the hardest!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Debbie! We’re looking forward to the new treadmill π
Jenn says
There were so many great Bernie memes. Every time I thought I saw the funniest one, another great one popped up.
It’s hard to get up on those super cold mornings. I don’t blame you for staying in bed.
How exciting for your new Peloton! I hope it comes on time so you can get spinning and working out in Peloton style! And look at that PR! Great job!
kookyrunner says
LoL, exactly! I would think they couldn’t get funnier and then they did. I’m excited for the Peloton treadmill. I love the bike so much so I think I’ll love the treadmill too.
RenΓ©e @runlaugheatpie says
OMG the memes! π
Looks like you guys are doing the cooper test! That’s the 12 minute benchmark run I used to do with my training group! Fun times!
Glad you had a good week! And yeah sometimes. you need extra sleep! Congrats on ordering the treadmill! Fingers crossed you get it when you expect it!
kookyrunner says
I didn’t know that was called the cooper test – that’s cool! I know my time will be slower when I re-test on Saturday because we have to wear masks but that’s okay.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Best Bernie memes ever!! That’s a great poster. Congrats on winning!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Lisa!
