Happy Sunday! I hope that everyone had a great week. Thank goodness we finally got a small break from the oppressive heat and humidity for a few days this week!
Here’s how my workouts went this week.
Monday, July 19
Spice Girls Core Strength 7/14/21 – Olivia (20 minutes)
Spice Girls Run 7/15/21 – Becs (30 minutes)
Spice Girls Ride 7/13/21 – Leanne (30 minutes)
Spice Girls Cool Down Ride 7/13/21 – Leanne (5 minutes)
Spice Girls Two For One Yoga Flow 7/15/21 – Aditi & Anna (30 minutes)
This was a fun way to kick off the week! I heard nothing but good things about all of the Spice Girls classes so I was looking forward to stacking them. They were all very good – lots of fun and a nice way to wake up on a Monday morning. I got through the workouts but noticed that my energy was pretty low all morning. Well that all made sense once my friend made her monthly appearance – I really don’t like her, lol. It’s amazing how it just drains my energy.
Tuesday, July 20
LHM Celebration Ride 10/10/20 – Jess K (30 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (45 minutes)
In the Heights Run 7/13/21 – Jess K (30 minutes)
Core Strength 4/8/21 – Jess (15 minutes)
We had cluster sets for the floor block at OTF. I really enjoy those because the reps are short which allows me to life heavier weights. I’ve never seen In The Heights on Broadway or the movie) so I’m not familiar with the soundtrack but I enjoyed all of the songs that Jess King selected for the run. They were super fun and upbeat (think lots of salsa type music). The core class was a good burn too.
Wednesday, July 21
Pre-Run Warm Up 10/5/20 – Matt (5 minutes)
HRZ Endurance Run 5/27/19 – Jess (45 minutes)
Full Body Strength 7/25/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
Spice Girls Ride 7/18/21 – Mayla (20 minutes)
Spotify Viva Latino Ride! 10/15/20 – Hannah C (20 minutes)
Spice Girls Yoga Flow 7/16/21 – Nico (30 minutes)
The HRZ Endurance run was perfect because it focused on staying in aerobic zones 1, 2 and 3 which resulted in a very basic run at the same pace with a few small inclines. This was exactly what I was looking for because I didn’t want to deal with a bunch of inclines or speed increases. The yoga class was much needed after signing off of work after a long day of back to back meetings.
Thursday, July 22
Sagres Scenic Class (30 minutes)
Santa Monica Beach Class (15 minutes)
LHM Celebration Ride 9/29/20 – Tunde (30 minutes)
LHM Celebration Ride 10/4/20 – Christine (30 minutes)
Core Strength 7/21/21 – Jess (5 minutes)
Upper Body Strength 5/1/21 – Chase (20 minutes)
My powerwalk included walking through a part of Europe and near the beach. Right now this is my form of travel, lol. I was feeling the effects of the upper body class a few hours after I finished the class. That’s how I know I couldn’t have lifted heavier weights!
Friday, July 23
LHM Celebration ride 9/19/20 – Hannah C (30 minutes)
R&B Walk 7/21/21 – Jess (20 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (60 minutes)
Yoga Slow Flow 4/30/21 – Chelsea (30 minutes)
Now that I’ve completed the Peloton AFO classes, I’m back to working my way through a bunch of older classes. Right now I’m focused on finishing up the Latino Heritage Month classes from last year. So far the classes have been just “okay”. The songs are decent but sometimes the instructor’s energy is off. We worked on single leg moves for the floor portion of the OTF workout, which I always appreciate because it always reminds me that my right side needs a little more attention since it’s my weaker side. I need to focus more on single leg moves at least 1-2x a week.
Saturday, July 24
Momento Latino Ride 10/9/20 – Robin (30 minutes)
Warm Up Run 3/4/21 – Jess (10 minutes)
Verzuz Bootcamp 7/24/21 – Jess (60 minutes)
Post-Run Stretch 7/12/21 – Becs (5 minutes)
The Verzuz bootcamp class was a lot of fun. It had a great playlist and I loved the flow of the strength moves on the floor and the cadence on the treadmill for the run portion.
Sunday, July 25
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (45 minutes)
Fit Family Brain Break Cardio 12/24/20 – Jess (5 minutes)
Verzuz Full Body Strength 7/23/21 – Chase (30 minutes)
Core Strength 7/7/21 – Jess (10 minutes)
Focus Flow: Floor Poses 4/20/21 – Ross (20 minutes)
For the first time in forever I was able to sleep in a little bit, which was great because I really needed it. I felt like I was moving in slow motion once I got up around 7:30. I did get a boost of energy after my OTF class but I didn’t want to do any of the Peloton classes I previously stacked (run/walk class and a cycle class). I opted to do additional strength workouts instead.
Total Weekly Mileage: 16.6 miles
Summary: 7 runs*, 1 bootcamp, 9 cycle, 4 yoga and 11 OTF/strength/HIIT classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 370/373
Is it just me or do the Olympics seem like a sh*tshow this year? I love the Olympics and was really excited about them a few weeks ago, but it just seems like so many things are “off” that it’s making it hard for me to watch and enjoy the events.
On Thursday I went downstairs to grab lunch and when I peeked outside I saw these two hanging out by our deck. They stared at me for a while, I waved a few times, and they just ignored me and went back to eating the leaves from the trees, lol. We’ve seen WAY more deer this year than any other year we have lived here – it’s really odd!
About two weeks ago I received a sample of Honey Stinger’s newest product, their rapid hydration mix (in strawberry lemonade) in the July StrideBox. I tested it out this week and I really liked it! Love the flavor (not too sweet) and I think it gave me an extra boost of energy too. I’m definitely going to order some more, and maybe try the other flavors available too.
…and now for this week’s memes
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

That rocket meme is on point LOL!
You always have such a great mix of workouts! I need to add those Spice Girls classes this week.
I wonder why you’re seeing more deer. We seem to have bunnies everywhere…go figure.
kookyrunner says
I have laughed at the rocket meme every day since I first saw it. I really don’t understand the urgency to explore space but I guess billionaires do, lol.
You will enjoy the SG classes – tons of fun! I’ve seen bunnies a few times this summer but the deer are now making weekly appearances.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Nice mix of workouts this week, Kim!
My sister always has deer at her house. I tried to take photos of the doe and her fawn, but they just didn’t come out good enough to share. This morning I saw what I’m relatively sure was an Eagle in our neighbor’s yard (why couldn’t it be ours? Then again, stay away from Bandit!). Later in the day Mr. Judy saw Albie (our resident Albino squirrel taking a bath in one of our fountains. Alas, he scared him off so no photos.
I’ve lived in Athleisure a long time & I’m ok with that. 🙂
kookyrunner says
I love the name Albie for the albino squirrel, lol. I have never seen al albino squirrel before!
I still live in leggings and sweatpants during the week, but I make sure my shirt is work appropriate lol.
Deborah Brooks says
still pretty much in workout clothes of some sort most days. I always am inspired by your mix of Peloton classes. I need to branch out more! Have a great week!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I try to mix it up so I won’t get bored, especially with the strength and running classes.
Jenny says
I wonder if the Olympics seem kind of “off” because of the lack of spectators? It definitely has a different feel. i had it on the other day and my son actually asked if it was really the Olympics- he thought maybe it was some other qualifying competition or something. I hope the athletes are still getting the full experience.
Great week of workouts as always! Like the “squeezing into office clothes”meme, ha ha. As a massage therapist I always wear yoga pants and running shoes to work- i don’t think my body will tolerate anything else at this point.
kookyrunner says
I think you’re right – the lack of the crowds and the cheering and support makes the events not as exciting. I am also sad that the athletes can’t have their families there – I’m sure they are missing that support as well.
Wendy says
Nice week for you Kim and can I just say : I do not miss my period at all!!!
Looks like my deer friends are visiting you while I’m sidelined… :p
And yeah, that rocket meme…when I saw the launch, I commented how phallic it looked. My mom was horrified. The memes are totally making me feel vindicated!
kookyrunner says
Oh trust me, I will welcome the day I don’t have to deal with a period anymore!
When I first saw the rocket I was like “hmmmm…” so it was funny to see a meme state exactly what I was thinking, lol.
Coco says
LOL on the rocket MEME. They say they are doing it for the sake of humanity. 8-/ I did the Spice Girls ride as a rare afternoon de-stressor and it did the trick! I still haven’t braved Olivia’s 20 min core class. I wanted to see The Heights before I did any classes, but I’m not sure when that’s going to happen at this point.
Have a great week!
kookyrunner says
I have to say that Olivia’s SG core class wasn’t too bad! Usually I feel like roadkill after her core classes but this one definitely manageable.
Kimberly Hatting says
Those Spice Girl workouts really sound fun! While I wasn’t a fan of them, back in the day, I can really see how their stuff would be invigorating for workout mojo. Great week for you (as usual)!
kookyrunner says
I was pretty obsessed with them back in the day, lol. Their songs are a lot of fun which makes workouts fun too.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I think I’ve seen more deer this year too- and more foxes! Great week of workouts. Love the memes about wearing bras and regular clothes again!
kookyrunner says
There is a random fox that has been making his way around the city but I haven’t spotted him yet!
Darlene S. Cardillo says
That last meme is so true. Dresses work. So far no dress pants.
Another active week. You get so many workouts in. Impressive.
Walking in Europe sounds fun. I plan to sign up peleton on July 31.
kookyrunner says
I’m so used to wearing leggings and sweatpants that it would be hard for me to wear dress pants again lol.
Awesome that you will sign up with Peloton at the end of the month!
Liz Dexter says
Glad you had a break in the heat! We had a heatwave last week, it was mid-80s all week which is huge for us and of course our houses are not made to cope with it. So 3 miles one day in the week and 15.5 miles at the weekend! Love the deer!
kookyrunner says
The heat is back this week unfortunately 🙁 I can’t wait until Fall!
Jessie says
What a full week! That deer looks very comfortable hanging out in the yard.
Do you plan all your Peloton stacks ahead of time or go with the flow? I’m still adjusting to the sheer amount of classes available!
kookyrunner says
Haha right?! They were very comfortable eating their leaves for lunch and wanted nothing to do with me, lol.
I usually plan my Peloton stacks ahead of time so that I don’t have to think about putting together classes when I wake up in the morning. It’s hard not to overdo it because there are SO many classes available!
Cari says
ooh I’ll have to look for that honey stinger. Love their strawberry lemonade chews so I think I’ll like this. I was really wishing for a hydration mix this morning but luckily had a replenish zero (7 eleven’s knockoff on Gatorade) waiting and chilled
Way to go with the Spice stack. I’ve only done the strength but need to find a way for a 30m run #SpiceUpYourLife
kookyrunner says
I used the Honey Stinger gels and chews for years but then they started to mess with my stomach, so I was pleasantly surprised about the hydration mix!
The SG run with Becs was great!
Renée @runlaugheatpie says
So Sagres… Portugal??? Because I’ve been there several times! If it was that’s super cool that you could do a virtual powerwalk there.
you do so many classes – it’s really impressive Kim!
Loving the deer!
I felt like that Frog (toad) the last two weeks when going into the office LOL!
kookyrunner says
Yup, it was Sages Portugal! That’s so cool that you’ve been there before.
I am still trying to wrap my mind around working in an office again. I’m glad that I’m a permanent WFH employee although sometimes I do miss the face to face interaction with people.
Jenn says
I am absolutely an ultra introvert pro max. No question! I would also love a break in the heat, but that’s not to be, I guess.
I don’t think the Olympics should have been held this year. As a result, I’m not super into it. It could have been an international morale booster, but instead, there are no spectators, cardboard beds, and all sorts of related issues. My heart breaks for the athletes who trained so hard for this substandard experience.
kookyrunner says
I think that’s my main issue – I don’t think they should even be having the Olympics this year. It has to be so hard for the athletes to be there without their support systems cheering for them in the stands.
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I saw a momma, daddy, and three baby deer in our back yard a dusk yesterday. I wonder how common triplets are in deer.
It sounds like I need to get on the Peloton app so I can travel to Europe again! LOL
kookyrunner says
Wow, you had the entire deer family make an appearance 🙂
Marcia says
I was thinking exactly what you wrote. The Olympics seem to be a royal cluster so far. I suspect the IOC forced Tokyo to go through with them. What a mess. Great week for you as per usual.
kookyrunner says
I totally agree with you – I think the IOC forced this which is a real shame, and things seem to get worse every day. I just can’t get into it.
Zenaida Arroyo says
What did you think of the Momento Latin Ride? OMG, I loved it! It is one of the best ones I’ve taken. I only watched the Opening Ceremony but that’s it. They’re all so early! I do hope I remember and will be up for the Track and Field events.
kookyrunner says
I enjoyed the Momento Latin ride too!
