Happy Sunday. It’s been so hot this month that I am more than ready for Fall. Anyone feel the same way? I was super thankful for a break in the heat and humidity at the end of the week.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, August 8
Standing Core Strength 2/14/22 – Rebecca (5 minutes)
HIIT Run 7/27/20 – Jess (30 minutes)
Cool Down Run 1/19/22 – Jermaine (5 minutes)
Summer Break Ride 8/3/22 – Cliff (20 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness (60 minutes)
#nevermissamonday! For some reason, I like to start off the week with an OTF class even though I swear their Monday classes are always crazy hard.
Tuesday, August 9
Summer Break Ride 8/1/22 – Erik (20 minutes)
Summer Break Ride 8/2/22 – Mayla (20 minutes)
Flash 15 5/7/21 – Jess (15 minutes)
Warm up Run 2/15/22 – Daniel (5 minutes)
2010s Bootcamp 8/9/22 – Jess (30 minutes)
2010s Run 8/9/22 – Jess (20 minutes)
I had another weird workday schedule so I split up my workout between lunch and after work. I forgot how crazy the Flash 15 classes can be. Since I was exercising after work, I decided to do two live classes with Jess and celebrate my 500th run with her 2010s run class.
Wednesday, August 10
Summer Break Ride 8/4/22 – Benny (20 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness (60 minutes)
Intervals Run 11/10/20 – Jess (30 minutes)
Lower Body Stretch 4/14/21 – Ben (5 minutes)
The Summer Break rides have been good so far. Even though they are in German, the playlists have been great! Dare I say that the OTF class felt normal today? It’s been so insane the last couple of weeks but this class felt more manageable. I loved the format of the Intervals run. My legs were pretty tired so I walked in-between each interval (instead of jogging). My hamstrings felt tight during my workouts so I added in a stretch right after my run (instead of putting it off until later). It felt great!
Thursday, August 11
Walk + Run 3/30/22 – Jess (45 minutes)
Summer Break Ride 8/5/22 – Charlotte (20 minutes)
Summer Break Ride 8/6/22 – Mila (20 minutes)
Flash 15 5/14/21 – Jess (15 minutes)
I have really been enjoying the walk + run classes lately. I find that I’m not as sore when I finish these classes – probably because of the walking recoveries. The Flash 15 was pretty brutal. I found it to be one of her harder Flash 15 classes.
Friday, August 12
Pop Run 3/5/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
Summer Break Ride 8/6/22 – Mila (20 minutes)
Arms & Shoulders Strength 12/17/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness (60 minutes)
I really enjoyed the pop run – great playlist and a very simple format for the class. The arms and shoulders class was a burner! OTF was great and we had a run/row format for the treadmill and timed strength exercises on the floor. I actually prefer timed exercises vs. number of reps.
We had a Hollywood theme class for OTF so I decided to dress up as Forrest Gump (from the running across America scenes). I think I nailed it? This is my favorite movie of all time and I’ve watched it too many times to count. I’ll also most likely wear the Bubba Gump hat regularly, lol.
Saturday, August 13
Sweat Steady Ride 5/14/22 – Jess K (45 minutes)
Flash 15 5/21/21 – Jess (15 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness (45 minutes)
This was a nice stack, especially the shorter OTF class. AI was able to increase my weights for my deadlift which made me happy, but the inclines on the treadmill did not make me happy.
Sunday, August 14
Climb Ride 5/15/22 – Christine (60 minutes)
Flash 15 6/18/21 – Jess (15 minutes)
Gospel Slow Flow Yoga 5/15/22 – Chelsea (45 minutes)
Originally I planned to do an outdoor run but I was SO sore when I woke up. Also my right hamstring was super tight so I decided to skip the run and opted for the bike since I thought that may loosen up my lower body a bit. It worked and I felt better after the ride. Threw in a Flash 15 and a longer yoga session to give my body an extra dose of TLC.
Summary:
Running – 19 miles
Cycle – 51.47 miles
Strength Training – 85 minutes
Orangetheory Fitness – 225 minutes
Bootcamp – 30 minutes
Peloton Artist Series Classes – 663/665
On Thursday Peloton released the lineup of artists for their All For One Music Festival taking place August 19-21. There are quite a few artists that I’m not familiar with (I think they are EDM artists) but there are some that I’m really excited about like Alanis Morissette, Big Sean, Green Day, John Mayer, Maroon 5, Saweetie, T-Pain and Wu-Tang Clan. I’m already planning out which classes I will try to catch live. There will be more than 160 classes in total (with 44 of those being live). Like last year, I’m excited to work my way through all the classes over the next few weeks!
Orangetheory Fitness rolled out a new update that will automatically update our maximum heart rate and heart rate zones after every 20 classes. According to OTF:
“Our members’ health and safety is always a top priority for us here at Orangetheory. The MaxHR adjustment utilizes a sophisticated algorithm using your personal performance results straight from the heart. Meaning, your new MaxHR has been determined solely based on what you have achieved in class. While we are committed to detecting any potential anomalies when tracking member results, always listen to your body and work with your coach to ensure you are working at the correct intensity for YOU.”
I haven’t noticed much of a change since my max HR only went up 1 point. What I have noticed is that I’m in the red zone more often since my new red zone range is 167-181 bpm. I think that after another 20 classes this will be adjusted. I actually think this needs to be higher (maybe starting at 175) because on the treadmill it will show I’m in the red zone but I don’t feel completely out of breath. Other people saw bigger changes in their numbers so I have seen some complaints online but hopefully people will get used to this new change.
…and now for this week’s memes.
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Ha, love that first meme! You’re doing so well as usual. I’ve had a frustrating week as we’ve had another heatwave so I’ve only got out running twice. I did meet Claire who I normally run with for a coffee in a coffee shop that felt quite cool, at least!
kookyrunner says
I hope that the heatwaves are done for the summer – August has been rough!
Deborah Brooks says
yes, I am so ready for fall! I am not ready to see people w all the pumpkin spice crap yet LOL Love the OTF costumes you 2 are always so fun w those. I have not done the classes in German except once by accident on a stretch. Ha! Love the memes this week too funny
kookyrunner says
Oh i totally agree – too early for the pumpkin stuff, although I think Starbucks releases their PSL on Wednesday, lol.
Chocolaterunsjudy says
That last meme — somedays that’s Bandit LOL! No, I’m not ready for Fall — but I will absolutely take the weather we’re having right now until then!
kookyrunner says
LOL! I could see Bandit making that face, haha.
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I love fall weather, especially for running! Now that I’m older, though, I reminded that fall ushers in winter and my fingers are going to stay cold until April. HaHa!
I love your Hollywood themed workout picture – it looks like your Forrest Gump mustache is above your nose! LOL
kookyrunner says
Same here! Fall is the best season for running and racing, that’s for sure!
Yeah the mustache part of the costume kept creeping up on my face because it was too big, LOL.
Jessie says
I am a big fall fan, but summer just went WAY too quickly…I guess b/c of the move for us but it sped by.
But nothing beats fall running, so I’m with you there!
Love the memes as always Kim!
kookyrunner says
I agree that Summer went by quickly, but also it’s been so hot and humid that I’m ready for it to leave, lol.
Wendy says
I’m not ready for fall, but yes to bacon! :p This past weekend was cool and damp, a good reminder of what’s to come. All in due time…
Love love love your Forrest Gump costume. You nailed it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in shorts!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! Forrest Gump is my favorite movie of all time but this is the first time I’ve dressed up as the character. That’s correct about the shorts – I very rarely wear shorts, I’m much more fo a capri and leggings person!
Coco says
Congrats on your 500th run! You were brave to do all those Flash 15s this week.
Very interesting on the OTF heart rate adjustment. I will always remember my high hr at OTF being on of the first signs of my over-active thyroid. Suddenly I could earn splat points on the rower ….
I have heard that a lot of the AFO artists are EDM. I look forward to checking them out even though EDM is not my favorite.
kookyrunner says
I actually didn’t realize how many Flash 15 classes I did last week until I wrote it all down – no wonder I saw sore this morning, lol.
I’m looking forward to AFO this weekend – it should be fun!
Michelle says
That last meme is so me – LOL!
Congrats on your 500th run! You’ve reminded me that I haven’t done a Flash 15 class in a while. They are challenging but oh so good!
Your Forrest costume is priceless – Love it!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle! I actually didn’t realize how many Flash 15 classes I did last week until I wrote it all down – whoops!
Kimberly Hatting says
I love seeing all the cycling classes you’ve been spanking. It’s been f.o.r.e.v.e.r since I’ve been on the indoor bike…it’s going to be a weird adjustment when I have to take my rides indoors (obviously, I’m still embracing my outdoor cycling, so I’m not in a hurry). 500 runs! That’s amazing 😉 Run, Forest! Run!
kookyrunner says
You have definitely been embracing outdoor cycling this summer!
Darlene S. Cardillo says
Forrest Gump is the best movie ever.
500 runs. You are him.
Walk run I’ve discovered is so much easier.
No. Not ready for fall. Getting dark earlier. No.
kookyrunner says
It really is such a good movie – Definitely my favorite, and Tom Hanks is just such a great actor.
Marcia says
I’m moving in the direction of fall but I am not specifically wishing for it just yet. I did see Pumpkin Spice bagels at Target though so all hell will be breaking loose very soon. Haha! Nice job on all the workouts!
kookyrunner says
The pumpkin stuff seems to me out earlier and earlier each year, but it’s hard for me to enjoy pumpkin flavored anything if it’s still 80 degrees outside, lol.
Jenny says
OMG- Forrest Gump!!!! That is hilarious. I hope everyone appreciated it.
You had a amazing week of workouts! I always wonder if you ever get sore- so I guess the answer is yes, and that’s why you always do such a variety or workouts. Congrats on run #500!
kookyrunner says
I don’t think some of the members knew who I was – there are a lot of people in their 20s that go to my OTF studio, lol.
