Happy Sunday! Just one more week to go until the Chicago Marathon. Should I be freaking out yet? I’m not, so maybe that’s a good thing? I’m just really looking forward to a fun weekend full of running, food and meeting up with other runners π Speaking of Chicago, here’s information for the WeRunSocial meetup. Stop by if you can!
Here’s my recap for week 13 of marathon training:
Monday, September 30
OrangeTheory Fitness – Strength (60 minutes).
Thank goodness it was a strength day because I was able to lift heavier. My legs were pretty much toast between Saturday’s 14 miler and the DriTri on Sunday. I was also able to PR my chest press which I was pretty excited about! I love the feeling of getting stronger.
I also ended the month with 125 miles.
Tuesday, October 1
Spinning (30 minutes) + core work (10 minutes)
My body was SUPER sore so I needed something less intense. The spinning + core work was a good combo to achieve this. I also started the 30 day Peloton Fall Launch Challenge which means I’ll be doing at least one of their classes a day during October. It’s nice because you can mix it up between running, walking, spinning, stretching, strength classes, yoga and meditation.
Wednesday, October 2
OrangeTheory Fitness – Mount Everest Prep (60 minutes).
The treadmill block was all about increasing inclines which was BRUTAL. I don’t mind doing speed intervals on a treadmill but millwork? No thank you. Luckily the floor block had a bunch of TRX exercises which I loved!
Thursday, October 3
Rest Day π
No workout, but I was a guest on The Daily Grind podcast! You can listen to it here. It was so much fun speaking with Kelly.
Friday, October 4
OrangeTheory Fitness – Strength (60 minutes).
I was happy that it was a strength day because that always means we get to lift a little heavier on the floor block π
Saturday, October 5
4 mile run.
All of my runs were during my OTF classes (whoops)! I needed a stand-alone run so I got these miles done early in the morning. They felt good, and so did the Winter like temps of 33 degrees.
Sunday, October 6
8 mile run.
Last long run of my training cycle! I decided to use a local 5K as part of my run. Might as well get a medal, right? I’m happy this run went well since I only got 4 hours of sleep the night before. Our smoke detector went off at 2:15am (thankfully a false alarm), but I couldn’t fall back asleep after that.
Total Weekly Mileage: 19 miles
Marathon Training Miles: 349.7 miles
Summary: 5 runs, 3 strength training workouts, 1 core workout
Grade This Week β A
October is shaping up to be a great month already! Did you know that it’s National Pizza Month? This is like my personal Christmas and my time to shine LOL.
This week went very well. The beginning of the week was a little rough coming off of my 14 miler and the OTF DriTri but my body felt back to normal around Wednesday.
On Monday I have my last OTF class before the marathon. I’m going to hate not doing it for a week but I know I need my legs nice and fresh for rest day. Besides getting in a few runs next week, I probably won’t do many more workouts.
That’s it! I hope you had a great week π
Iβm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Congrats on that OTF PR! And glad the smoke alarm was a false alarm. That sounds like it would be pretty scary waking up to that.
kookyrunner says
Yeah I was just too startled to go back to sleep unfortunately π I was just glad it didn’t really effect my running.

Good decision to forgo OTF this week! You definitely need to rest those legs, especially since you’l be traveling.
Glad that you felt better as the week went on.
