Happy Sunday! Another week down and June is almost over, which is crazy to me. When I realized that next weekend was the 4th of July, I was actually surprised. Maybe the second half of the year will go by quicker than the first half? Let’s hope so!
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, June 22
Peloton Advanced Bootcamp: Arms & Shoulders 5/25/19 – Jess (60 minutes)
As always, Jess served me some humble pie to start off the week. Her regular bootcamps are great but her advanced ones are next level. I don’t know how she has the stamina to talk and teach us the moves and then do the moves – I can barely get through the moves lol. My arms were screaming at me when this class was over!
Tuesday, June 23
Peloton Chainsmokers Run 8/29/19 – Olivia (30 minutes)
Peloton Chainsmokers Ride 8/29/19 – Matt (30 minutes)
Can’t say I enjoyed these classes that much. The instructors were fine and I loved their energy but I couldn’t really get into the songs. I only like one song from each class, lol. Oh well, that’s the cool thing about the Artist Series classes – some are great and some aren’t, but it’s still a great way to learn about new bands and music artists. I also did a very regrettable afternoon walk, it was way too hot though!
Wednesday, June 24
Peloton 88Rising Ride 5/27/20 – Emma (30 minutes)
Peloton Machel Montano Ride 2/26/20 – Ally (30 minutes)
I didn’t feel like running when I woke up so I switched up my schedule and opted for an hour of cycling. The 88Rising ride was different – can’t say I loved the music but Emma is a great instructor so it was fine. Absolutely loved the Machel Montano ride because it was mainly Soca music which is always fun!
Thursday, June 25
Peloton 90s Bootcamp 6/13/20 – Jess (60 minutes)
Another spicy bootcamp class with Jess! I don’t understand how she finds new ways to torture us but she does! This class had a 4 minute block at the end of class – jumping jacks and burpees – no rest in-between moves. To put that at the end of the class was mean, lol.
Friday, June 26
Peloton Lady Gaga Ride 1/16/20 – Cody (30 minutes)
Peloton HIIT Cardio 6/16/20 – Adrian (10 minutes)
Peloton Dolly Parton Core Strength 6/25/20 – Selena (10 minutes)
Peloton HIIT Cardio: Live From Home 6/17/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
It felt good to do a few HIIT cardio classes to mix things up a little bit, plus I wanted a day off from running.
Saturday, June 27
Peloton Pop Bootcamp 11/23/19 – Jess (60 minutes)
Peloton Pride Bootcamp 6/27/20 – Jess (60 minutes)
A very spicy, and fun, double workout Saturday. I did the Pop bootcamp in the morning and the Pride bootcamp live in the afternoon. It was my 25th bootcamp milestone class and I normally like to do those classes live. That was so much sweat and cursing involved in both classes, lol. I don’t think I would do this double workout again since it was pretty brutal. I needed a high calorie burn day to complete my monthly Apple challenge so that’s the reason I did two bootcamp classes.
Sunday, June 28
Orangetheory Fitness Endurance, Strength, Power (ESP) Class – (45 minutes)
Peloton Mabel Ride 3/8/20 – Hannah (30 minutes)
FIRST OTF CLASS!! I have to say, it felt amazing to be back and I didn’t realize how much I missed the studio, the coaches and the staff. I was warmly greeted by the staff and coach once I entered the studio – I wanted to hug everyone but of course I didn’t! I was nervous about wearing a mask for class but it honestly wasn’t that bad at all. This morning there were only 6 people in my class (out of a possible 20) – Sunday @ 7am has never been a crowded class anyway so I wasn’t surprised. Here’s a little more info about the new procedures:
– Wait outside (6 feet apart) and wait to be called to enter the studio (you enter one person at a time)
– Your temperature is taken as soon as you enter and you’re asked if you have been in contact with anyone that you know that has had COVID-19
-Use hand sanitizer
– You walk over to the coach and get your assignment (today I was treadmill #3). Every other machine is empty to allow for social distancing.
– The coach lets you know when to start on the machine
– Wipes are provided after you finish each section (treadmill, rower, floor)
– There is no switching, i.e. you are the only person that uses your treadmill, rower and weights on the floor for each class
– After class you exit and follow social distancing, use hand sanitizer and then leave.
I felt safe and was very, very impressed with all of the new procedures that have been put in place.
Once home, I re-fueled with coffee and breakfast and then hit my bike for a 30 minute ride.
Total Weekly Mileage: 16 miles
Summary: 6 runs*, 5 cycle class, 1 OTF class, 1 strength workout and 3 bootcamp classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 39/82
Grade This Week – A
If you read my Summer Bucket List blog post, you know that my goal is to complete all the Peloton Artist Series classes by the end of August. To help me track this, I’m going to include my progress every week – this should keep me motivated too!
I kind of hit the workouts hard this week, so I’m going to give my body some extra TLC tonight – probably in the form of extra foam rolling and stretching. Right now, everything feels good so hopefully that’s a good sign. I’m just worried about DOMS.
…and now for this week’s meme collection..
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
In Case You Missed It

Deborah Brooks says
I think we are buying alcohol….Those boot camp classes scare me to death. You are crushing them! I loved the Dolly Parton core class too fun. Great week for you thanks for linking
kookyrunner says
With the amount of running and strength workouts that you do, you could totally do the boot camp classes. Start off with the 30 minute classes so you can get a feel for it!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I can’t even how much extra work this all is for gyms! Or how the smaller class sizes will effect them. Glad you felt safe!
2 one hour bootcamps? Girl, are you CRAZY????
I also don’t know how instructors talk during hard workouts. And by hard I mean holding a plank, LOL!
kookyrunner says
Yes, it’s so much extra work for them so I really appreciate them putting in the effort!
I was crazy for the two bootcamps – I don’t recommend doing this lol.
Catrina says
Great week, Kim! And thank you for the description of your first physical gym class. Sounds safe to me! 👍🏻😊
Make sure you get a rest day squeezed in your week – your body needs time to build muscle. 😊
kookyrunner says
Thanks Catrina! I know – I really need to build in an active rest day, like maybe a long walk.
Once it’s not as humid here, I’ll probably do some long walks.
Darlene S Cardillo says
so glad you were able to go to OTF.
We humans need humans. But so hard when I see my friends not to be near them.
You are killing all those workouts.
kookyrunner says
Exactly, and I pretty much hug everyone so it’s really hard not to do that, especially when you haven’t seen people in months!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
You had another great week of workouts. Yay for getting back into the OTF gym! I know how much you enjoy your workouts there.
Also, thank you for listing the protocol OTF is using. I’m grabbing ideas from various sources as I put mine in place since I will have my first in-person client coming tomorrow. I was on the fence about taking her temperature, but since I do have the right kind of thermometer to use, I might as well, right?
kookyrunner says
OTF is my happy place 🙂 I still plan on doing Peloton workouts at home but will incorporate OTF 3 days a week.
I think that the temperature check seems to be standard at a lot of places here so it couldn’t hurt – just an added safety precaution.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Definitely buying alcohol 😉 And that Chihuahua meme cracks me up!
I’m so happy to hear your return to OTF was a success! I think we still have a couple more weeks here before my studio opens, and while I’m still nervous about returning your experience is super encouraging!
I do not know how you made it through a double round of bootcamps! Nice work!!
kookyrunner says
The Chihuahua made me laugh SO hard, LOL. I was really impressed with OTF today and I know that you’ll have a good experience when you go back too.
I do not recommend the double round of bootcamps – that was definitely a one time thing!
Kimberly Hatting says
Dang. I see your daily workouts, and am always impressed…but seeing ALL of them like this is exhausting LOL You are kicking booty! I’m glad you got to go back to class, and I’m glad YOU felt safe being there 😉 Total win-win!!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks #kimtwin! My workouts were a little spicy this week – I think I need to ease up a bit this week – I don’t want to overdo it.
Wendy says
Aren’t you so excited getting back to live OTF? I was thrilled to get back to the gym. I was so pleasantly surprised about all the precautions!
kookyrunner says
I can’t tell you how good it felt to be back – like I felt it in my soul! I didn’t know how much I missed it until I was back there!
Jessie says
Wow- all those precautions sound amazing. I’m glad OTF is being so smart about this!
kookyrunner says
Me too! I was really pleased with the experience today.
Marcia says
That is a really fun summer bucket list item! How nice to be back to OTF. I too have been so impressed by how attentive all businesses have been. I just don’t know about the return to school at this point. Time will tell I guess.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Marcia! Since I’m not traveling anywhere this summer, I need something different to keep my attention, lol.
There has been some talk here of kids going back to school part time – they would go to school every other day and do virtual learning on the days they are home.
Coco says
Ha! My husband might wear those shoes. He wants everyone to step back! I’m so glad your OTF experience was good I think my studio is doing everything they can (but masks are not required while working out), but I’m just not comfortable being in a small room with so many people yet — I think they are doing 12 person classes and they all have waitlists.
I did that Dolly Parton core workout — it was tough!
kookyrunner says
I agree with your husband, lol. For now I’m only do the mask classes at OTF. While they have the no-mask class options, I just feel safer wearing a mask. I’m sure it’s probably all in my head, but it’s just what works for me right now.
My abs were on fire after that Dolly Parton core workout!
Cari says
Glad you felt safe, I know you love OTF and hope you’re able to bring it back into your life.
I need to look into whether we get a day off for July 4. We had Juneteenth so I don’t *need* a day off, but yeah I’d love one.
kookyrunner says
Since July 4th is on Saturday they gave us the day off on Friday – I’ll take it!
Liz Dexter says
You must be SO FIT! And hooray for OTF, that sounds like they did it really safely. No gyms here indoors yet, we’re not even allowed to use outdoor gym equipment in the parks!
kookyrunner says
It sounds like the UK is being overly cautious and I actually appreciate that. A lot of states here reopened things way too early and now they are suffering the consequences of that unfortunately.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I’m glad your return to OTF went so well! It sounds like they have alot of good procedures in place. Great job with your workouts this week!
kookyrunner says
I was very impressed with all of their new safety procedures!
Chaitali says
That’s great that the OTF studio is taking so many precautions! Sounds like they’re making it as safe as possible.
kookyrunner says
They have been so great about everything so far!
Jenn says
I am so glad your return to OTF was so successful! I think it would be hard to workout with a mask, so I’m glad to hear it wasn’t.
I also love that you had so many “spicy” workouts with Peloton! That sounds so fun!
kookyrunner says
I think it all depends on the type of mask too. A lot of the coaches prefer to workout with bandanas vs masks because it allows for a little more air.
Renée says
the Peloton Queen strikes again!! well done! and 60 min just arms and shoulders ??? (insert very frightened face here)
so happy you got to get back to OTF and it was a good experience! other places can really learn from OTF. We are not ready for that yet. Only outdoor classes are allowed right now. Gotta give it to some gyms though – they actually put spin bikes outside!
I confess I have bought 3 bottles of gin since lockdown. I have never bought that much gin in my life. While I do not think I need to go directly to AA , not pass go and not collect $200, it’s really a quarantine THING.
kookyrunner says
LoL at Peloton Queen – you are too sweet Renee!
That’s good that outdoor workouts are allowed there. I can understand that there is a lot of hesitation around anything indoors at this point.
I did one huge liquor purchase back in April and I’m still drinking my way through it lol.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
Your last meme is spot on. I often cough & feel fatigue that goes away as soon as I take my allergy meds and every time it’s like uh…
So happy that you were able to go back to OT in person. You have to figure that their standard of care is going to be way higher than the grocery store.
kookyrunner says
It’s like my allergies always know when to act up, and it’s always when I’m out of the house, lol.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Great week for you! Glad you had a good class at OTF. Glad to see they are taking so many precautions for the classes.
Haha, those shoes!!!
kookyrunner says
OTF has been good so far. I’m going back for my 3rd class on Friday.
