Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a great week and currently enjoying the long weekend. Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, August 29
AFO Hike: Saweetie 8/19/22 – Kirsten (15 minutes)
AFO Ride: Saweetie 8/19/22 – Ally (20 minutes)
AFO Core Strength: Saweetie 8/19/22 – Assal (10 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness (60 minutes)
#nevermissamonday π The Saweetie classes were fun a good way to kick off the week. The OTF class was spicy with a lot of sprints on the treadmill.
Tuesday, August 30
AFO Ride: Flume 8/19/22 – Matt (15 minutes)
AFO Run: Flume 8/19/22 – Jeffrey (15 minutes)
AFO Seated Adaptive Strength: Sofi Tukker 8/19/22 – Logan (15 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness (45 minutes)
AFO Yoga Flow: Amber Mark 8/20/22 – Kirra (30 minutes)
I was only familiar with one Flume song but Matt and Jeffrey both did a great job with their classes. I liked the adaptive seated strength class because it really forced me to use my core as I was doing the arm strength moves.
I had to hustle, but I was able to get the extra mileage to hit the ultra marathon goal for OTF Marathon Month. I am surprised I was able to surpass the Marathon distance goal, but this lets me know that I can hit the ultra marathon goal when we do Marathon Month again next year.
Wednesday, August 31
AFO Warm Up Run: Alanis Morissette 8/19/22 – Jess (10 minutes)
Saturday60: Pop Bootcamp 8/27/22 – Jess (60 minutes)
AFO Post-Run Stretch: The 1975 8/19/22 – Jon (5 minutes)
AFO Pilates: John Mayer 8/19/22 – Kristin (20 minutes)
AFO Yoga Flow: Alanis Morissette 8/21/22 – Aditi (30 minutes)
Finally, the last day of August! Does this mean the heat and humidity will go away too? I couldn’t believe that Jess was able to fit in a listening game for her 10 minute warm up run, but she never ceases to amaze me, lol. Her bootcamps was really good too. I usually don’t care too much for the pilates classes but I actually didn’t mind Kristin’s class – maybe John Mayer’s music made the moves more bearable!
Thursday, September 1
Our Future Selves: Premiere 8/30/22 – Becs (20 minutes)
Our Future Selves: Cool Down Run 8/30/22 – Becs (10 minutes)
AFO Warm Up Ride: Rufus Du Sol 8/19/22 – Ben (5 minutes)
AFO Ride: Rufus Du Sol 8/19/22 – Erik (30 minutes)
AFO Ride: Big Sean 8/20/22 – Alex (30 minutes)
AFO Arms: Swedish House Mafia 8/19/22 – Ben (10 minutes)
The Our Future Selves classes were very interesting. I really enjoyed the conversation in both classes, and it was nice to learn more about Ashton’s charity, THORN, and also his ‘why’ for running the NYCM. I look forward to future episodes with different instructors and guests.
I was happy to knock out this stack before meeting up with one of my best friends. She was visiting family in the area so it was nice to see her again since I haven’t seen her in about a year.
Friday, September 2
AFO Walk: Flume 8/19/22 – Joslyn (20 minutes)
AFO Lower Body Strength: Purple Disco Machine 8/19/22 – Daniel (10 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness (60 minutes)
AFO Yoga Flow: Flume 8/19/22 – Kirra (20 minutes)
At OTF we had the 2,000m rowing benchmark. I didn’t aim for a PR but used it as a way to see what time I should be aiming for when I do the rowing as part of the DriTri. It ended up being super helpful!
Saturday, September 3
Pre-Run Warm Up 7/17/22 – Jermaine (5 minutes)
AFO Run: Wu-Tang Clan 8/20/22 – Jermaine (30 minutes)
AFO Bodyweight Strength: Wu-Tang Clan 8/20/22 – Adrian (30 minutes)
AFO Ride: Wu-Tang Clan 8/20/22 – Cliff (30 minutes)
AFO Post-Ride Stretch: Becky Hill 8/19/22 – Hannah F (5 minutes)
AFO Yoga Flow: Wu-Tang Clan 8/20/22 – Chelsea (30 minutes)
It felt odd to wake up on a Saturday and not have an OTF class or any errands to run! I took advantage and slept in until 7. I was also finally able to complete all of the Wu-Tang Clan classes from the All For One collection. I was happy I stacked them all together because they were all SO good, although Adrian’s class was very hard. Bodyweight exercises always sneak up on me!
It was also my sister’s 50th birthday. We celebrated on a day early on Friday and took her out to lunch and then kept the celebration rolling with cake. A local bakery did such a great job with the cake!
Sunday, September 4
AFO Walk: Maggie Rogers 8/19/22 – Matty (20 minutes)
AFO Barre: Carrie Underwood 8/19/22 – Hannah (20 minutes)
AFO Ride: Maggie Rogers 8/19/22 – Emma (20 minutes)
AFO Ride: Purple Disco Machine 8/19/22 – Leanne (20 minutes)
AFO Ride: Purple Disco Machine 8/19/22 – Mila (20 minutes)
AFO Post-Ride Stretch: Maggie Rogers 8/19/22 – Mayla (10 minutes)
I used today as an active recovery today, although the barre class was a little spicy!
Summary:
Running – 13.9 miles
Cycle – 40.29 miles
Strength Training – 125 minutes
Bootcamp – 60 minutes
Orangetheory Fitness – 165 minutes
Peloton Artist Series Classes – 729/826
I had a good week off from work. I got a lot of errands done but also had a few days where I didn’t do too much, which was nice. I made the mistake of logging into my work email on Friday just to “peek” at my email – worst idea ever! I ended up spending 2 hours looking at stuff but the only good thing is that now I won’t have to spend all day on Tuesday dealing with those issues (which is a good thing since I have meetings from 11am-5pm, straight through with no breaks on that day).
Starbucks released their Fall menu items on Tuesday. I always find it odd when so many of the pumpkin flavored items come out in August when it’s still close to 90 degrees outside, lol. That being said, I will definitely pick up either a pumpkin spice latte or pumpkin cold brew coffee once we have our first day with cooler temps!
…and now for this week’s memes.
That’s it! I hope you had a great week π
Iβm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
In Case You Missed It
Tuesday Topics: Off Topic Tuesday – Part 2

That last meme was me on at least 3 occasions this week LOL!
I’m glad you were able to take some time off and that you enjoyed your staycation.
I also really enjoyed the classes with Ashton. I’m looking forward to the series but may have to skip the class with KK – I’m torn because Robin is the instructor.
Hope your week back at work goes smoothly!
kookyrunner says
LOL to the last meme π
I think I’ll do all of the Ashton classes. I know a lot of people have strong opinions on KK but I do like that she is very active in social justice issues and has gotten more active in the legal field over the past few years.
Deborah Brooks says
glad you had some down time and time off from work. You sure did pack in a lot of workouts! I still have no idea who half of the music artists are on the Peloton classes. π
kookyrunner says
As I’m working my way through the AFO classes, I’m disappointed that I am not enjoying the artists more. The classes have been great but the music has just been so-so. I guess the plus is that I have found a handful of new songs to add to my playlists.
Wendy says
I had a ‘staycation’ recently too–when I got Covid, I had to cancel my plans to go out of town. UGH. Glad you were more productive with yours, lol.
Happy 50th to your sister!
kookyrunner says
A forced staycation is never fun π Hopefully you’ll be able to do some fun stuff if you take another staycation soon!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Glad you had a nice week off, Kim! Sorry about the work emails. π
I’m not a huge fan of the Barre classes — at least not so far — but I was pleasantly surprised by the Pilates class I tried this week. I actually really like Pilates but it can be hard to squeeze in!
kookyrunner says
I kind of have a love/hate relationship with Barre and Pilates classes. For me it really depends on the instructor and the length of the class.
Jenny says
Sounds like you had a great week! I’m glad you have Monday off- it’s easier to start back with a four-day week.
So wait- is that picture of the dog bus real??? I know someone who takes her dog to “day care” a couple times a week so he can be around other dogs- but he doesn’t go on a bus. That’s hilarious.
There’s a funny Dunkin Donuts commercial about someone trying to enjoy the fall when it’s still 90 degrees. Well, at least there are iced pumpkin drinks!
kookyrunner says
So true to start back off with a 4 day work week. I already know tomorrow is going to be completely awful but once I get through that day the rest of the week should be fine.
I don’t know if that photo of the dog bus is real but I kind of hope that it is, lol.
Liz Dexter says
Sounds like a good staycation! We had a bank holiday on Monday but I forgot about it and booked work in, my husband went over to his parents so I didn’t feel too bad. Happy birthday to your sister and what a great cake! I noticed our coffee shop had swapped summer treats for blackberry and apple crumble and some pumpkin drinks, including Hallowe’en themed ones!
kookyrunner says
Blackberry and Apple Crumble both sound delicious! We have some Halloween stuff out here as well but I’m not ready to think about that holiday just yet, lol.
Darlene S. Cardillo says
Looks like you had a great staycation. Very productive. Itβs so tempting to log into work email when in vacation.
As usual your memes make me smile.
kookyrunner says
So tempting! I was mad at myself for doing it but it actually ended up being a good thing. At least now I’ll be more productive tomorrow.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
What a beautiful cake! My husband’s birthday is coming up this week, I need to whip up something equally as beautiful (ok, that’s not really going to happen… but I will try!). I hope she had a great birthday!
I’m always so tempted to log on to email, and yep, always regretting it when I do!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! She had a great birthday and we are still enjoying the cake, lol.
Kimberly Hatting says
Wow, you are really knocking out those AFO classes! Like Deborah, I don’t recognize very many of the artists either. Your sister’s cake is breathtaking! Did it taste as good as it looks?
kookyrunner says
I’m trying to do a few of the AFO classes a day – there are so many!
The cake definitely tasted as good as it looked – we are still enjoying it days later lol.
Jessie says
Oh, so glad you had a nice staycation! So hard not to get sucked into work at the end though, isn’t it. Sounds like it was a good thing though with your busy first day back.
I love the Ben Afleck meme, so true. Happy birthday to your sister!
I haven’t tried any pilates classes yet on Peloton, but we are moving today to our new place but none of our stuff will arrive for another 1-2 weeks, which includes my weights. I need to find some good body weight only classes. Any favorites?
Ruth is signed up for this doggy daycare adventure camp, once a week, and they will pick her up in a van to take her to the country side! I think she travels in a kennel though, darn π
kookyrunner says
So hard not to peak in on emails, but yes, I’m actually glad I did or else I would be logging into a sh*tshow tomorrow morning!
I actually just did a great BW strength class with Adrian – it’s his 30 min Wu-Tang class. I really enjoyed it!
Jenn says
I have seen video of that dog school, and I have never wanted to work somewhere so badly in my entire life.
So glad you had a great fitness week and a great staycation. Hope your sister had a great birthday – that cake is gorgeous!
kookyrunner says
I agree – working at the dog school would be a dream job!
Coco says
Congrats on exceeding your OTF marathon goal!
I understand the danger and temptation of peeking at work emails. Sometimes I spend a few hours on the weekend βso Monday wonβt suck.β Itβs tough, though, because time OFF is important!
I hope you have a great week!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Coco! Not sure my legs appreciated it, but at least that’s done and now it’s on to the DriTri.
Marcia says
Omg! The “quick call!” Nooooo! Your memes are hilarious. Love the dog school bus. Beyond cute. Great week of workouts for you and awesome job hitting that ultra distance. Happy Birthday to your sis. That is a wonderful cake!
kookyrunner says
The quick call is NEVER a quick call, lol!
