Happy Sunday! The first week back after vacation is always the hardest, right? This week was jam packed with a lot of meetings and conference calls but luckily I was still able to get in all of my workouts.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, July 13
Peloton Pop Bootcamp 6/20/20 – Jess (60 minutes)
Peloton Philly Soul Yoga Flow 2/10/20 – Kristin (30 minutes)
Another #deathbyjess 60 minute bootcamp class. I don’t understand how someone that looks so sweet and innocent can leave me in a puddle of sweat on the floor at the end of class. I think that doing a yoga class after a bootcamp class might need to be my new combination moving forward. It felt so good to slow down for 30 minutes after an intense bootcamp class and really stretch. This yoga class in particular was great because the music was on point.
Tuesday, July 14
Peloton Celine Dion Ride 12/19/19 – Leanne (30 minutes)
Peloton Live DJ Ride with Madame Gandhi 3/13/20 – Robin (30 minutes)
I wanted to give my legs a day off from any type of running so I opted to spend an hour on the bike. Both classes were good – the Celine Dion ride was more soulful and the Madame Gandhi ride was really energetic – the best of both worlds!
Wednesday, July 15
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance (45 minutes)
Peloton Desmond Child Run 6/19/20 – Andy (30 minutes)
Afternoon Walk
Peloton Britney Spears Ride 7/15/20 – Cody (30 minutes)
The OTF class was hard! It was endurance workout which meant no walking recoveries and longer pushes on the treadmill – all while wearing a mask. There was no rowing but the floor exercises made up for it. This has been my highest calorie burn so far for the shorter 45 minute classes. When I got home, I did a 30 minute run and ended up with 5 miles for the day. The humidity FINALLY broke so I was able to get outside for a lunchtime walk as well.
I was kind of sore from my morning workout but I just HAD to take the Britney Spears ride live. Cody absolutely loves Britney and I knew the ride would be super fun and it absolutely was.
Thursday, July 16
Peloton Whitney Houston Run 7/1/20 – Matty (30 minutes)
Peloton Whitney Houston Ride 7/1/20 – Ally (30 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness Plank Challenge (10 minutes)
Afternoon Walk
Working out to Whitney Houston jams was the perfect way to start off my Thursday! After those classes I did the Orangetheory 10-minute Plank Challenge and it was hard! There were two rounds of four different plank moves (1 minute each) followed by a 1 minute “finisher” which was a hollow hold. My abs were on fire!
I had to mail something so I walked to and from the post office during lunch – it was a little over a mile total. I figured I might as well get some exercise while running an easy errand!
Friday, July 17
Orangetheory Fitness – Power (45 minutes)
Peloton Desmond Child Ride 6/19/20 – Jenn (30 minutes)
Afternoon Walk
Peloton Smokey Robinson Yoga Flow 2/18/20 – Denis (30 minutes)
Another great OTF class! The treadmill block alternated between push and all out paces so it was a great way to work on speed. The floor block had something called rolling burpees which involved burpees on a bench – it was my first time doing them and I oddly enjoyed them!
Another trip to the post office resulted in a 1 mile roundtrip walk in the afternoon. Later on that night I did a yoga class with Denis and I really enjoyed his teaching style.
Saturday, July 18
Peloton Britney Spears Power Walk 7/16/20 – Matty (30 minutes)
Peloton Britney Spears Run 7/16/20 – Becs (30 minutes)
Peloton Britney Spears Bootcamp 7/15/20 – Rebecca (30 minutes)
Peloton Britney Spears HIIT Cardio 7/15/20 – Matty (10 minutes)
Peloton Britney Spears Full Body Strength 7/16/20 – Robin (20 minutes)
Peloton Britney Spears Arms Toning 7/15/20 – Cody (10 minutes)
Peloton Britney Spears Warm Up Ride 7/15/20 – Cody (10 minutes)
Peloton Britney Spears Ride 7/16/20 – Erik (30 minutes)
Peloton Smokey Robinson Post-Ride Stretch 2/16/20 – Hannah (10 minutes)
You could say I had a Britney morning full of workouts, lol. Since I’m not training for a half marathon or marathon this year, I’ve decided to make Saturdays my longer workout days. I would usually be spending 2+ hours doing a long run so now I’ll spend that time doing other types of workouts. I was looking forward to this Britney Spears stack workout all week because I knew it would give me a mix of cardio, strength and cycling!
Sunday, July 19
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance (45 minutes)
Dolly Parton Ride 6/26/20 – Robin (30 minutes)
Great endurance class at OTF this morning. I was surprised that my stats weren’t a little bit better because I felt like I was busting my butt everywhere, especially on the treadmill and the rower, but it was still a great workout. I did a 30 min cycle class when I got home to help flush out my legs, followed by a 10 minute stretch.
Total Weekly Mileage: 17.8 miles
Summary: 8 runs*, 7 cycle class, 3 OTF class, 2 yoga classes and 1 bootcamp classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 76/99
Grade This Week ā A
Week #1 of Pelothon 2020 is complete. The challenge for this week was to take at least one class from each member of your team. Also the charity recipient for this week was the Food Bank of New York City. So happy that Peloton is making a donation on behalf of all its members taking part in this event! I’ll also be following Coco’s lead by making a personal donation to local food banks every week of the challenge. Such an awesome idea!
I’m also making my way through the OTF #Backatitchallenge.
And although it wasn’t a shock at at all, my only race this Fall was cancelled. The Philly Love Run has been moved to March 28, 2021. They didn’t offer an option for a refund – just defer to the new date or run the race virtually. I would have preferred a refund but I’ll just keep my fingers crossed that the race can happen next March (I don’t really have the desire to run a virtual half marathon).
…and now for this week’s meme collection..
That’s it! I hope you had a great week š
Iām linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
In Case You Missed It
Tuesday Topics: What are your favorite running views?
Wendy says
I so look forward to your memes, lol! I have to send that WWE one to my boys. They were so into it back in the day.
I loved that you walked an errand to get miles in. I’ve been riding my bike to CF, just because. Why not, right?
2 1/2 hours of Britney is 2 1/2 hours too many, IMHO. You are a way better woman than I!
kookyrunner says
The WWE one was pretty good! Because it’s been so hot this week I wasn’t able get in to many afternoon walks so I figured walking my errands was the next best thing, lol.
Wendy says
I love this idea of doing extra long workouts on Saturday, to replace long runs. I will try this out next weekend. Thanks!
kookyrunner says
No problem! I just thought of it a few days ago, lol.
Deborah Brooks says
oh you alway make me laugh with your memes! Wow you crushed week one. (I thought I did a lot of classes!) Love your Britney day how fun. Some of those are on my list. I love her music. Have a fantastic week ahead and thanks for linking
kookyrunner says
Well I’m also still working my way through all the Artist Series classes so that’s probably why it looks like a lot, lol. Thankfully I’m almost done with all the ride and run classes, so I’ll work on doing more yoga classes in the future to get through all of those.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
Nice week! Jess Sims was on the Ali on the Run podcast recently and it was a really good episode. I’ve never done a Peloton workout but I feel like I “know” her from everyone’s recaps. The only reason that I’m still interested in virtual half marathons is b/c I’m still relatively new to the distance. I think that if I had run as many as you have I’d be good with sitting out until racing returns for real. Between you and me, I think you are really smart to focus on Peloton right now instead of long runs.
kookyrunner says
I keep hearing about that podcast so I’ll have to listen to it this week! I’m actually enjoying not doing super long runs right now, but I’m sure that will change in a few months. I go through ups and down with long runs, primarily because I also love strength training too.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
OK, first I have to say just reading about all of your workouts made me tired! LOL! Great job this week! Also, I love your idea of doing a longer workout in place of a long training run. I’m going to give that a shot next week.
And thank you for the memes – absolutely cracked me up! I especially liked the one from Family Circle š
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I actually just thought of the idea for doing longer Saturday workouts a few days ago, but I think it will be something cool to work on throughout the rest of the summer and into the Fall.
The Family Circle meme really cracked me up lol.
Coco says
You had a terrific week. I canāt believe youāre doing the OTF challenge and a zillion Peloton classes. Yowzie. But your Britany stack made me laugh! Iām glad this week is over so I can get back to taking classes with Jess ā even if #deathbyjess is real.
Yay for supporting local food banks. With extra unemployment payments ending soon I know there is a greater need than ever.
kookyrunner says
Yeah I think I’m doing like 3-4 challenges at once so I’m always making sure I keep on track with all of them, lol. The good thing is that it keeps things interesting, which is nice!
Kimberly Hatting says
Wow, you had a busy week (and not just back at your work desk). That Britney workout really sounds l.o.n.g., but you made a great point in comparing the time spent to a long run (if there were any races that warranted a long run LOL). Great week!!!
kookyrunner says
What was so good about the Britney workouts was that I only heard duplicates of songs a few times so it kept all the workouts fun and interesting.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Wow – all the workouts on Saturday! Good reasoning though, the long run would take up all of that time. Why did they have so many Britney Spears classes? (sorry, not sure if it’s just a favorite or I missed something that was going on… because I don’t watch the news!).
kookyrunner says
Peloton does a few ‘Artist Series’ classes a month. Basically these classes just focus on music from one artist/band. Last week was Britney Spears and this week is Lil Wayne. They will usually do one cycle, run and yoga class but the Britney Spears series had more classes than usual!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Sorry about your last race! Do you know that my May half was moved to September and they still haven’t cancelled it? They keep pushing it back but we have the option to defer or run it virtually. I can’t imagine that they can push it back any more because now its getting so close to next year’s scheduled race!
Great job with all those classes this week!
kookyrunner says
Hmm…I am surprised they haven’t canceled that half yet – especially since the original date was May! So for my race the original date was March, but then they moved it to October and now it’s “re-scheduled” for March 2021 – but basically they need to just say the 2020 race was canceled, lol.
Laurie says
That Philly Soul yoga sounds awesome! I would love to try that. Your Saturday workouts look insane! What a marathon. Good for you! Between Peloton and OTF, you are doing great. Very inspirational! There are some small, in-person races happening here. Maybe you could find a small race in your area this fall? I think the upper limit in PA is 250 people. I am signed up for a 5k that also has a half with it (it’s on a rail trail) for August.
kookyrunner says
That yoga class was really cool – the music was so laid back and really set the vibe for a nice yoga flow. Saturday’s classes looked like a lot when I wrote them down but it didn’t seem that long when I was doing the workouts, lol. I am curious to see if my city will hold any races this Fall. There is usually a small 5K race on Thanksgiving morning (less than 500 people), but I’m not sure if that would still be considered too large of a group.
Liz Dexter says
Well you certainly get the value out of your Peleton subscription – that’s an amazing week! And I love yoga after a workout or run but I hate going to my class sweaty – I should just do it in the garden now there are no classes anyway.
Do you have a special dryfit mask for OFT? It strikes me all our cotton ones would be gross for that!
kookyrunner says
Oh for sure! Best money I have ever spent, lol. I tell anyone that even if they just want to purchase the app subscription for $20/month, it’s well worth it because of all the content available.
No specific masks are required for OTF but I have tried a few and really like the ones made my Reebok and Adidas.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Seriously I am so impressed with all of your Peloton classes. Now I am aiming to do one per day. I am liking the running ones but still find one of the instructors annoying since he talks too much. š Now I am wondering if it is said instructor or that it was an outdoor versus a running (indoor) class.
I liked the meditation class I took. I never mediate and those 10 minutes were very relaxing. I see Cody is teaching those classes now so you know I will check those out.
I’ve seen people rave about the Britney Spears class. I will also have to check it out!
kookyrunner says
I do find that some of the instructors talk more than others. In those cases I just try to focus on the music if possible, lol.
I have done one of Cody’s meditation classes and really enjoyed it. I pretty much like anything that he does!
Darlene S Cardillo says
I get exhausted just reading about your workouts.
You are badass.
and you post the best memes!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! The Peloton workouts look like a lot when I write it out but the workouts really are fun!
Shathiso says
Give me some Celine, Whitney and Britney any day! How awesome that their music is used for different workouts/ themes.
I’m all for putting 2020 in rice. It’s worth a try right?!
kookyrunner says
Right?! I love that their music is used for workouts. Always puts me in such a great mood.
Jessie says
It’s hard to get jazzed about virtual races…I really wonder if any big races will be back in 2021? At least not until summer I bet…If I had known Atlanta was potentially my only race this year, I would have cherished it more!!!
You’re killing it with all the activities! You must be one of Peloton’s biggest supporters š
kookyrunner says
I agree! Even though my race was rescheduled to March 2021, I honestly wonder if that’s gonna happen.
Awwe, thanks for the kind words about Peloton. I definitely enjoy the workouts! š
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
You had a great and busy workout week and yoga following a tough boot camp sounds like a great combo to me!
I haven’t heard yet, but I suspect our annual Thanksgiving Day race will be canceled or changed to virtual. It’s the only race at this point that I would potentially sign up for. My friends and I might do a run together instead, but who know where we’ll be with the virus at that point…
kookyrunner says
Same here in regards to the Thanksgiving Race. That’s really the only race I could possibly see happening since it’s a local race with not too many people, but I even think that will probably just be cancelled unfortunately š
