Happy Sunday! Did this week seem super long to anyone else? Although I was pretty busy at work, it seemed like each day just dragged on and on! It was another hot and humid week. Fingers crossed that August isn’t a month of sweltering heat!
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, July 27
Peloton 2000s Bootcamp 7/18/20 – Jess (60 minutes)
Peloton Shakira Yoga Flow 9/23/19 – Kristin (30 minutes)
Started of week 3 of Pelothon with some of my #LegendsOfFun instructors! The bootcamp class had SO many turkish getups – it was brutal. I don’t want to do another one of those for a long time. I definitely needed the yoga flow after the class to stretch and decompress before starting the work day.
Tuesday, July 28
Peloton Spotify Mint Fun Run 1/23/20 – Olivia (45 minutes)
Peloton BHM: Fresh Friday Ride 2/21/20 – Denis (30 mintues)
I was a little annoyed by the run because the music was so-so and the instructor did a crapload of intervals. It was supposed to be a ‘fun run’ so after a while I just ignored the intervals part and settled into a steady pace.
The BHM: Fresh Friday Ride was amazing! A few Peloton members had suggested this ride so that’s why it was on my radar. The whole playlist focused on playing the original version of a song, followed by a song that sampled it. For example, he played ‘Between the Sheets’ by the Isley Brothers and then that went right into ‘Big Poppa’ by the Notorious BIG since that song sampled the beat from the Isley Brothers song. I’ve never done a ride like that before so it was really, really cool!
Wednesday, July 29
Peloton Work It vs. Rock the Boat Ride 1/15/16 – Cody (45 minutes)
Peloton HIIT Cardio 7/23/20 – Jess (10 minutes)
Peloton HIIT Cardio: Live from Home 6/3/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
Peloton Common Yoga Flow 7/29/20 – Chelsea (30 minutes)
I’m in a few Peloton groups on Facebook and the ‘Work It vs. Rock the Boat Ride’ has come up in discussion multiple times so I decided to check it out. I had to dig far back in the archives for this one (2016!) but it was well worth it. All the songs for the ride were from Missy Elliott and Aaliyah so I knew all the songs and could jam along. It was a very well put together ride. The HIIT cardio classes I took after the ride weren’t as fun (lol) but I can always rely on Jess to give me a great sweat.
At the last minute I decided to do the Common Yoga Flow class live later on in the evening. It was a nice way to decompress from a crazy work day! It was my first yoga class with Chelsea and I really enjoyed it – her voice is so soothing and I was able to modify all the moves that I couldn’t do.
Thursday, July 30
Peloton 2010s Bootcamp 7/25/20 – Jess (60 minutes)
Peloton Common Ride 7/29/20 – Tunde (30 minutes)
Another #deathbyJess bootcamp class 🙂 I usually don’t do any other classes after a 60 minute bootcamp class, but I thought that the Common ride would be nice because his music is really mellow and I could take the class easy. There was one hard section that really worked my legs, but other than that I kept medium resistance on the bike – enough to get a good workout, but not too high where I felt like I wanted to cry, lol.
Friday, July 31
Peloton Common Run 7/30/20 – Jess (30 minutes)
Peloton Common Bootcamp 7/30/20 – Chase (30 minutes)
Peloton Common Full Body Strength 7/30/20 – Adrian (20 minutes)
Finished up the Common Artist Series classes with this awesome trifecta!
Saturday, August 1
Peloton Groove Ride 7/20/20 – Cody (60 minutes)
Peloton Hip Hop Bootcamp 8/1/20 – Jess (60 minutes)
Both classes were great! I had not taken a 60 minute cycle class in over a year, so I was a little nervous going into the ride, but it was really good. Cody is my go-to cycle instructor because he makes the classes hard, but fun. I also got a huge PR on this ride so I was thrilled about that. My favorite bootcamp instructor, Jess, was teaching her weekly 60 minute bootcamp class live so I decided to jump on after my ride. My legs were kind of sore/tired, but I was able to push through the discomfort. Oh, and it was a total sweatfest as expected.
Since I’m not training for any Fall races, I’m dedicating my Saturdays to longer workouts. I would typically be running 2-3 hour long runs if I was training, especially for a marathon, so having longer workouts on this day just made sense. I still want to maintain my endurance during this time and I hope this will pay off!
Sunday, August 2
Peloton Celine Dion Run Matty 12/18/19 – (30 minutes)
Peloton New Tracks Ride 8/2/20 – Kendall (20 minutes)
Peloton Hip Hop Ride 7/29/20 – Kendall (20 minutes)
Peloton Celine Dion Yoga Flow 12/16/19 – Ross (30 minutes)
Ended week 3 of Pelothon with another Artist Series run, followed by a few cycle classes. The Hop Hop ride was REALLY good – it was just what I needed which was a party on the bike! Followed up those classes with a yoga class. My hips have felt a bit tight this week so I hope that the yoga class will help.
Total Weekly Mileage: 19.8 miles
Summary: 6 runs*, 6 cycle, 4 bootcamp, 3 strength/HITT and 3 yoga classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 98/110
Grade This Week – A
Can you believe that we’re already in August? July was another crazy month so I hope that August is very uneventful. I ended July with 80 running miles and 181 cycling miles, both of which were able my goal, so I was happy with those numbers!
In non-fitness related news, my company has extended our voluntary work from home period to January. I’m not at all surprised by this and I will continue to work from home for the rest of the year. If employees want to start going back to the office in October, they can, but with tons of precautions of course. I’ve reviewed the list of procedures we would have to follow and it’s just way too much. I would be much more productive working from home. But….while I don’t mind working from home, I don’t 100% love it either. Eventually I hope that I’m able to split time between the office and home.
…and now for this week’s meme collection..
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Nice July, Kim! Sorry about your work from home being essentially extended. I know you’re ok with it, but I also know it can get old. I’m not really surprised thought. Life seems to be on hold right now.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Judy! Definitely not surprised about the work from home extension. Of course I wish things could be different but 2020 is all about rolling with the punches!
Wendy says
That Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding Meme just cracks me up. And yeah, what next 2020? I swear it’s just crazy!
Your workouts sound like a lot of fun, and I’m all about the music! Glad you were able to adapt your run to avoid the intervals! LOL
kookyrunner says
At first I felt bad laughing at that meme but it really is funny, and so damn accurate.
Shathiso says
I’m declaring you the Pelothon Queen! You’re killing it out there!
kookyrunner says
Hahaha thanks! I have definitely embraced it a lot more ever since the pandemic hit.
Laurie says
Your Peloton workouts sound amazing! You get such a good variety of workouts in. Way to go! I think you are smart to work from home until January. You just never know what is just around the corner since the pandemic hit. Thanks for sharing the memes. I needed the laughs! 🙂
kookyrunner says
Thanks Laurie! I’m pretty comfortable with all of the Peloton classes now. When I first started I would only do the cycle classes but I’m happy that I took a leap of faith and branched out to try their other classes via their app.
Deborah Brooks says
You did such a great job of mixing up your classes this week for fantastic variety. You are almost done w the whole artist series?! Wow! Love the Nancy Kerrigan memes. This year -ugh what a doozy
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I’m almost done with the Artist Series classes. After my run this upcoming Tuesday I’ll be done with all the cycle, strength and running classes and then I’m just left with a bunch of yoga classes to get through. Hopefully I can finish all the classes by the end of the month!
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
Yes, not a surprise and probably for the best on staying home for the rest of the year. It would be nice to see my coworkers in person but work wise the transition to home went very smoothly and honestly there’s no benefit to being there in person. Unless numbers go down a lot I’m sure we’ll be at home for the rest of the year as well. At least not having the commute makes more time for workouts! You’re crushing it!
kookyrunner says
I have a good relationship with my manager so I do miss seeing her in person and grabbing lunch, but other than that, I’m good working from home for now. Like you mentioned, the transition was pretty good. I also see my co-workers every day on video calls.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
That Kermit meme cracked me up! 🙂
I love all of the Peloton workouts you do – looks like another awesome week!
I don’t blame you for choosing to continue to work from home. The numbers across the board really are not moving in the right direction 🙁
kookyrunner says
The Kermit meme made me laugh too! Actually, every meme makes me laugh now – it’s my form of comic relief lol.
Thanks! I try to plan out my workouts for the week on Sundays to try to make sure I have a good mix of everything, but sometimes its hard!
The Covid-19 cases in Connecticut are still pretty low but looking at the rest of the country, I don’t know how long that will last here 🙁
Kimberly Hatting says
Wow, until January, huh?!? That’s rough, but probably the safest and certainly makes the most sense. I’m not set up to WFH, but wish I was…I’m really stressed with Max right now. Again, congrats on a stellar Peloton week, Kim 😉 You are so dedicated!
kookyrunner says
Yeah, I think it’s definitely the safest call right now. It’s a global policy so it takes into account the hot zones in the US and also other countries like Brazil.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I will most likely be working from home through at least January too. Its going to be so weird whenever we do get back into the office!
Great job with your workouts this week!
kookyrunner says
Right?! That first day back in the office is really going to feel like an out of body experience.
Liz Dexter says
Wow – what a great week’s working out and some great sessions there. I love the idea of the song and sample pairings one!
We had the UK’s 3rd hottest day ever on Thursday but I seem to have got my runs onto the cooler bits of the week.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Liz! Yeah that ride was really cool – such a great mash of music.
It seems like it has been brutally hot everywhere over the past few weeks. 2020 continues to throw us curveballs.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Haha, the first meme is so funny! But yeah I am also wondering what the heck is next.
I have downloaded a few running workouts from the Artist Series and am looking forward to them. I did not realize there were so many.
For the run workouts, I run at my pace. I like the music and sometimes pay attention to what the instructors say. I do like it when Matty says “Fun fact” or something like that, meaning I need to pay attention as he will say something interesting and educational.
I am glad work is giving you the option to work from home till January. I don’t love working from home either but do know it is the best thing right now. I am hoping that I will be allowed to go in once or twice a week to teach from my classroom.
kookyrunner says
Yeah the Artist Series has a lot of classes and I think they added 4 more artists to the collection in July alone! Matty is really good at storytelling so I enjoy his runs because they are more relaxed.
Darlene says
I have no idea how long I will work from home. They don’t say. Right now at least until Oct.
Peleton does sound fun because of the music. I recently listened to a Ali on the Run podcast interviewing Jess. Give it a listen.
I agree about yoga. The voice is important.
Again you had an active week.
kookyrunner says
It seems like most companies are doing work from home until at least September/October. I wouldn’t be surprised if some extend that.
I also listened to that Ali on the Run podcast with Jess – it was really good. Jess is my favorite instructor.
Marcia says
No I can’t believe it’s August. It’s so strange to have time slip by as we sit in this holding pattern. My hubby’s work extended their home time through September. I suspect that may change. IT’s crazy. Great month of miles and rides for you!
kookyrunner says
Yeah I feel like companies are continue to readjust the work from home plan and each month passes. The sad thing is that there’s really no “best” answer – everyone is just doing the best they can. I wouldn’t want to be a CEO right now – so many decisions to make and so much pressure.
Chaitali says
I love the raccoon finger painting! Sounds like a great variety of classes this week for you :). Great job with those July miles. I forgot it was August until I read your post.
kookyrunner says
The raccoon finger painting meme was too cute not to share!
I also felt like August kind of snuck up on me too.
Wendy says
That raccoon! I saw that last week. I wonder if his work is for sale?
kookyrunner says
That’s a great question! If it is, I would buy it 🙂
Cari says
Oh my god that Tonya Harding, Nancy Kerrigan one. I hadn’t seen it.
Congrats on the PR
Love the idea of a sampled song and it’s next generation – such a fun idea.
Without office run group, Thursday NIght Football I struggle to know what day it is in general. COVID has not helped one iota
kookyrunner says
That meme is probably in my top 5 of Covid memes – it’s so darn accurate!
Jenn says
The fingerpainting raccoon made my day. Maybe I can teach Luna to paint.
I’m so glad your company extended their offer to work from home. I’m sure that’s much appreciated. Here’s hoping that August behaves itself.
kookyrunner says
If you can teach Luna to paint that would be so cute!
Coco says
Thanks for the warning on the Saturday 60 with Turkish get-ups! I don’t mind them, but it’s good to be prepared, LOL. Wow on the WFH extension to January. It might be that long for me, but they haven’t announced it yet. DC extended it’s state of emergency to October for now. My firm basically said parents can keep WFH as longs as schools are not 100% in person, which I was really glad to see.
You are crushing it with the Peloton workouts!
kookyrunner says
LoL, no problem! I’ve never done that many turkish get-ups in a class before so my body was like ‘whats going on?’
That’s great that your firm is being very reasonable with the WFH situation, especially for employees that have children that will most likely do virtual learning at home.
Melissa says
OMG that raccoon. it can’t be real, right? it’s just too amazing. Great workouts this week! I’m jealous of all the Peloton action for sure.
kookyrunner says
I think the raccoon is real – I had my doubts at first too, lol.
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
You are really killing it with your Peloton workouts! Sometimes I wish I’d kept the app but with the return of OTF classes, I decided I’d let the subscription go because I didn’t think I’d be using it all that much anymore. Especially since we resumed running with a few friends and now we talk during the runs so I don’t need the music or guided runs anymore. If we went back into a lockdown though I’d resume it for sure!
I also love your memes and cannot BELIEVE it is already August!
kookyrunner says
It’s hard to balance out both OTF and Peloton. Pre-Covid I was doing OTF 5x a week and barely using Peloton. Now that I’ve gotten into Peloton more I decided to cut back to OTF 3x a week so that I can still use my Peloton bike and the app. Also I think going to OTF 5x a week would eventually be too taxing on my body!
