Happy Sunday. It was a hard week – heck, it’s been a hard two weeks to be honest. So much sadness and violence in the world right now. It’s all really quite upsetting and I’m concerned that I am becoming desensitized to it since it happens ALL THE TIME. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but here’s how my workouts went this week.
Monday, May 23
50s Rock Ride 5/7/22 – Mila (20 minutes)
60s Rock Ride 5/7/22 – Mila (20 minutes)
Cool Down Ride 5/14/22 – Mayla (5 minutes)
Warm Up Run 11/8/21 – Chase (5 minutes)
Rock That Core Bootcamp 5/2/22 – Selena (45 minutes)
Harry Styles Yoga Flow 5/20/22 – Mariana (20 minutes)
#nevermissamonday right? Well when my alarm went off my body said “absolutely not”. I slept for an extra hour and it was much needed. I split up my workout throughout the day and did the cycle classes during my lunch break and then did the bootcamp and yoga classes after I logged off work for the day.
Tuesday, May 24
2000s Rock Run 5/7/22 – Susie (20 minutes)
2000s Rock Full Body Strength 10/23/21 – Rad (20 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – “Full Body Flip” (60 minutes)
90s Rock Ride 5/1/22 – Emma (20 minutes)
Rad’s class cracked me up because he took many opportunities to sing song lyrics. Let’s just say he should stick to his day job, lol. Emma’s class had a great playlist. I am very fond of 90’s rock music and she played a lot of my favorite songs. Each of the OTF classes during Mayhem week have a special name (similar to Hell Week). I’m not really sure what “Full Body Flip” had to do with this particular workout since we didn’t use the TRX straps. The strength section of the class wasn’t too bad since all of the moves were slow and controlled but the treadmill block was very spicy.
Wednesday, May 25
Vinyl Vault Ride 4/22/22 – Hannah C (30 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – “Base-ically Upside Down” (60 minutes)
90s Rock Run 4/27/22 – Tobias (20 minutes)
HIIT Cardio 5/14/22 – Rad (10 minutes)
Everything just felt hard today – probably because my mind is someplace else and my heart wasn’t really into the workout at all.
Side note – Anyone else concerned that we just continue on like everything is normal after a mass shooting? I found myself kind of having an out of body experience while on a conference call. It’s just not normal to be expected to work like it’s business as usual after such a heinous event.
Thursday, May 26
Iron Maiden Run 4/25/22 – Tobias (30 minutes)
Indie Rock Ride 4/16/22 – Mayla (20 minutes)
Classic Rock Ride 5/3/22 – Christine (30 minutes)
Classic Rock Glutes & Legs Strength 4/19/22 – Selena (30 minutes)
Can’t say I really enjoyed any of these classes, but I’m still working my way through all the Rock 22 classes. Hoping to finish them up by next week.
Friday, May 27
API Heritage Walk 5/16/22 – Selena (20 minutes)
Rock Ride 5/6/22 – Robin (20 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – “All Out Darkness” (60 minutes)
Norah Jones Pilates 5/25/22 – Kristin (20 minutes)
R&B Yoga Flow 5/17/22 – Chelsea (20 minutes)
Finally finished #AllOutMayhem with this OTF class. I thought this was the easiest class of the week, except for the strength block which kicked my butt. I really felt the burn during the pilates class but loved the playlist. Norah Jones is so soothing and relaxing.
Saturday, May 28
Classic Rock Ride 4/30/22 – Bradley (20 minutes)
K-Pop Ride 5/8/22 – Leanne (15 minutes)
Saturday60: R&B Bootcamp 5/28/22 – Jess (60 minutes)
Cool Down Walk 5/11/22 – Matty (5 minutes)
API Heritage Yoga Flow 5/7/22 – Aditi (30 minutes)
The K-Pop ride with Leanne was a lot of fun! It felt nice to do another live Saturday60. I don’t do a lot of live classes, but I look forward to this one because I love Jess and it’s so nice to get high fives from other members throughout the entire class.
Sunday, May 29
Norah Jones Walk 5/25/22 – Joslyn (20 minutes)
2000s Rock Ride 5/2/22 – Olivia (20 minutes)
Classic Rock Ride 5/3/22 – Mayla (20 minutes)
API Heritage Full Body Strength 5/9/22 – Adrian (30 minutes)
Norah Jones Slow Flow Yoga 5/25/22 – Aditi (30 minutes)
The Norah Jones walk was great – very low key and the perfect class when you want to take things a little easy. I used today as an active recovery day so it was perfect. I’ll do the yoga class later on this evening.
Summary:
Running – 12.55 miles
Cycle – 48.55 miles
Strength Training – 100 minutes
Orangetheory Fitness – 180 minutes
Bootcamp – 60 minutes
Peloton Artist Series Classes – 605/620
Not too much new to report this week. My knee continues to be a little wonky. I’ve been trying to give it a little more TLC. If it continues to be an issue this week I will probably take a few days off of running. I actually think the pain in stemming from a tight IT band so I’m hoping that if I continue working on that with different PT exercises that it will help the knee pain (fingers crossed)!
…and now for this week’s memes.
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Another week of amazing workout combos! I always get class ideas from you! Hope you have a great long weekend!

Thanks! And hope you are enjoying your current travel adventure!

Oh, I am going to stack that Norah Jones walk for tomorrow. Susie Chan’s walk was really nice.
We had a big “town hall” meeting on Wednesday with different speakers. People started by taking a minute to acknowledge how we were all reeling, but then made awkward transitions to the regularly scheduled business updates. There’s an article in the paper today that says we “move on” about 4 days after a “tragedy”—and that is really tragic. On the other hand, how much can we bear?
kookyrunner says
I think you will really enjoy the Norah Jones walk.
Totally agree with you – how much more can we really bear? I don’t think humans were designed to deal with so much tragedy constantly, and let’s not forget the trauma of everything that came with Covid.
Michelle says
I know what you mean about that “out of body” experience – I’ve caught myself on several occasions in the past two weeks just thinking that returning to my regular work schedule (or any schedule for that matter) just felt so bizarre. I hope whatever’s going on with your knee/ITB calms down for you.
kookyrunner says
It’s so odd right? I was like “I really shouldn’t be working right now but everyone else is so….”
Darlene Cardillo says
Yes, it’s been tough. I don’t even want to listen to the news.
Thanks for the memes. They always cheer me up.
I fell while gardening and my knee has been wonky or stiff but today the knee wasn’t my problem… it was the heat.
Jenny says
The Parkland shooting hit us really hard because it was so close (the town right next to us.) Everyone seemed so outraged then, we thought “this was the last one.” HA! I guess the gun lobbyists are stronger than we are. So sad and frustrating.
Anyway… we have to go on. You had a great week of workouts! I hope your knee is okay and starts to feel better soon. Love the memes, as always!
kookyrunner says
Wow – I didn’t realize that Parkland was so close to your town. So scary.
It’s so frustrating to know that things can be done and laws can be put in place but that doesn’t happen because the politicians answer to the NRA. It’s disgusting.
Wendy says
I hate to say it, but I almost wish i could become desensitized if that makes sense. I’m overly sensitive and feeling very sad about everything that has gone down in the past couple of weeks. Today’s run helped a lot. i need to stop watching the news!
Nice week of workouts. We just have to keep moving!
kookyrunner says
I do understand where you’re coming from. I guess I don’t want to be too desensitized to it because that means I’m using my ability to be caring and compassionate. I haven’t watched the news in a few days and I also stayed off social media for the bulk of the weekend – that helped a little.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Great workouts this week! I agree- what is going on with this world. At the school function this week for my son we did have a police officer in attendance, which was unusual. I can’t even imagine living in that community, or any place which has had a tragedy like that. It is just so sad. I don’t know what is wrong with people.
kookyrunner says
I feel so badly for school aged children – they shouldn’t have to grow up in a world like this.
Marcia says
I’m struggling with the feelings of hopelessness these days with all the hatred and violence lately. We’re in such an awful, politicized place in so many aspects, it’s overwhelming to say the least.
Glad you leaned into your workouts! Nice job!
kookyrunner says
I agree with you that its very overwhelming – almost paralyzing because you’re not sure how to help.
Kimberly Hatting says
My heart has been heavy as well. It’s just such a crazy, inconsiderate (?) world we live in. None the less, congrats on a great week of sweat equity, #KimTwin…such great variety! I’m going to bookmark that Rad class…gotta see what his singing voice is all about, LOL
kookyrunner says
You will not be disappointed with Rad’s singing voice, lol.
Jenn says
Hugs. It’s been awful. I’ve been absolutely useless this week. I don’t know how we can keep moving forward like nothing has happened. It makes me so sad and mad.
kookyrunner says
I 1005 feel the same way – I hate that we have to keep moving forward when so many things in this country are completely broken.
Cari says
I feel you on the fear of desensitization. Buffalo was barely a blip when it should have been longer.
I can’t believe it’s two years since George Floyd and Christian Cooper, and not a damn thing has changed. Plus of course 24 since Columbine This world
Boo on IT Bands.
kookyrunner says
It’s crazy that Buffalo now seems like it happened a while ago when really it’s been less than a month.
Wendy says
Regarding the shooting in TX, I *do* feel like this is an expectation that life should just carry on. An out of body experience is a good way to describe how I felt most of the week. I finally lost it during an exceptionally moving sermon in church on Sunday, but then once again felt like I needed to suck it up and get back to “normal.” It’s been a struggle.
kookyrunner says
It’s been a struggle for me too, mainly because I don’t feel like we should have to soldier on like everything is okay.
