Happy Sunday, and Happy Halloween! I hope that everyone had a great week. I’m getting ready to hand out candy to all the kids tonight. Not sure how many kids we will get tonight but I made 30 candy bags so I’m sure that’s more than enough.

Orangetheory Fitness- The Burpee Breach (45 minutes)
Sundays with Love 10/24/21 – Ally (30 minutes)
Another Hell Week workout done! I know this sounds crazy but I actually enjoy burpees so this class was perfect for me. We had 5 variations of burpees and I loved them all š Overall it was a hard class, but felt easier than the class the day before. Just one Peloton class today. Starting last year, my company gives us two official Mental Health Days off and today was out second one of the year. I could have done more Peloton workouts, but I decided to slow down for the day and rest after the OTF class.
Tuesday, October 26
Warm Up Walk 10/24/21 – Joslyn (10 minutes)
BHM: Motown Run 2/17/21 – Matty (30 minutes)
BHM: Movie Buff Ride 3/1/21 – Kendall (45 minutes)
Dance Cardio 10/7/21 – Emma & Cody (20 minutes)
Loved Matty’s BHM Motown Run. I’ve had this class bookmarked for a while so I’m glad I finally took it. The music was great (you can’t go wrong with Motown) and I always get a history lesson whenever I take a class with Matty. I think I’m going to start filming myself doing the dance cardio classes because it’s quite comical. I finally caught on to the routine after about 10 minutes, lol.
Wednesday, October 27
Orangetheory Fitness – Decoding the Drop Set (45 minutes)
Labrinth Run 10/26/21 – Joslyn (20 minutes)
Core Strength 5/30/21 – Erik (15 minutes)
HIIT Cardio 9/25/20 – Jess (10 minutes)
Elton John Yoga Flow 10/27/21 – Kristin (30 minutes)
I’m halfway through the required classes for Hell Week! This class actually wasn’t bad at all. I love drop sets and there were a variety of moves. This was my first run with one of the new UK treadmill instructors, Joslyn. I liked her! I think she actually talks a little less than other instructors which is nice if you want to really hear the music.
Thursday, October 28
Warm Up Walk 10/1/21 – Marcel (10 minutes)
Elton John Run 10/27/21 – Jon (20 minutes)
Elton John Cool Down Run 10/27/21 – Susie (10 minutes)
Elton John Walk 10/27/21 – Jess K (30 minutes)
To put it nicely, this day was an absolute sh*tshow. I woke up super sore and very tired so I decided to work out in the evening. I’ve had a 2 day virtual conference at work this week which kept me pretty busy. On breaks I would answer emails/do a little work on open projects and then go right back to the conference. During one of the breaks I drove my mom and sister to an appt. I was sitting in the parking spot checking my email and a woman backed her SUV right into my car. She obviously wasn’t paying attention so I was glad I was still in the car so she couldn’t just leave the scene. Granted it’s something that can be easily repaired and I can still drive my car with no issues, but I just got my car detailed on Saturday so I was kind of pissed.
Then when I logged off my laptop I started my workout but had to walk about half of the Elton John run because I received an urgent email to proofread a brief so I pretty much had to walk on the treadmill and take care of that. After that I was just too annoyed to really focus on any type of workout so I just did a walk. Overall it was a crappy day.
Friday, October 29
Iceland Hike – Ben & Jess (20 minutes)
HIIT Cardio 10/28/20 – Jess (10 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – Meltdown (60 minutes)
Warm Up Ride 8/30/21- Mayla (5 minutes)
Savannah Ride – Adrian (20 minutes)
Full Body Stretch 1/27/21 – Erik (10 minutes)
Meltdown was the perfect name for this OTF class. We had an entire block of rowing which was just brutal. I think everyone clocked at least 5,000 meters. This was followed by alternating between sprints on the treadmill and power moves on the floor. Peloton has a new badge for taking scenic classes on the bike or treadmill so I decided to do two scenic classes to get that badge quickly. The Iceland hike was SO pretty. It definitely made me want to visit. The bike ride through Savannah was really great too.
Saturday, October 30
Elton John Warm Up Ride 10/27/21 – Bradley (10 minutes)
Elton John Ride 10/27/21 – Jenn (45 minutes)
Elton John Cool Down Ride 10/27/21 – Bradley (10 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – Pyramid Scheme (45 minutes)
The Elton John rides were a mixed bag – Bradley’s rides were really good – great music and full of energy – Jenn’s ride was the opposite. It was one of those rides where you just kind of zone out to get it done.
Maybe I’m too sore, or slightly delirious, but the class wasn’t too bad. With a name like Pyramid Scheme I was expecting lots of inclines on the treadmill but the pyramid part of the class was more about chipping away at time on the treadmill and number of reps on the floor for the strength portion. I was happy it was my last class to complete Hell Week and get my shirt. Also, since I was not taking class on Halloween, I decided to dress up for this class.
Sunday, October 31
Pre-Run Warm Up 10/1/21 – Marcel (5 minutes)
Halloween Run 10/26/21 – Matty (30 minutes)
HIIT Cardio 6/9/21 – Jess (10 minutes)
Full Body Strength Warm Up 9/15/21 – Marcel (5 minutes)
Elton John Full Body Strength 10/27/21 – Matty (45 minutes)
Happy Halloween! I knew I wanted to do Matty’s Halloween run today and it was absolutely hilarious. He dressed up as “Jim Bunny” and stayed in character for almost the entire run. I still have no clue how he was able to run in that costume, but as you can see below, he really went all out!
The rest of the classes were good, especially the Elton John strength class, but nothing be the Halloween Run. It was pure comedy.
Total Weekly Mileage: 10.6 miles
Summary: 9 runs*, 7 cycle, 1 yoga and 10 OTF/strength/HIIT classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 433/435
On Saturday I completed my 3rd Orangetheory Fitness Hell Week. It’s a killer week of classes but I honestly look forward to it each year and I’m already thinking about all the fun corporate will have in store for us next year, lol.
…and now for this week’s memes
That’s it! I hope you had a great week š
Iām linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Someone who likes burpees?! HMM…Congrats on completing another hell week. Looks like they are fun in a crazy hard way. Yes, the whole packages thing is kind of a mess huh?
kookyrunner says
LoL I know I’m an oddball but I love all versions of burpees.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Oh no on Wednesday! Even if you can still drive your car, that’s always a drag. I hope it’s fixed soon. And of course all the other stuff that happened that day, too.
You have a lot on your plate, Kim, you totally earned that mental health day!
kookyrunner says
October definitely wasn’t the best month but I have high hopes for November! š
Kimberly Hatting says
Oh, I love Motown! I can only imagine how great that class was!!! Way to go on Hell Week #3…the tank top is WAY COOL! Very well-earned!
kookyrunner says
I may do that Motown run again because it was just that good!
Coco says
I canāt believe you did all those peloton workouts AND Hell Week! I am thinking about going back to OTF, but still wary of our covid numbers ā they seem to be trending down at least. Maybe once we get through the holidays ā¦.
I am still mad at Matty for that Little Bunny FooFoo song. š
kookyrunner says
The Little Bunny FooFoo song was hilarious! I was glad it was a very short song though.
Jessie says
Kudos to you for loving burpees! I hate them š
That’s awesome that Matty stayed in character for the whole class, that’s impressive.
Ugh, I have TOTALLY had those days where I’m trying to do some sort of workout in the evening and something urgent ruins it all…at least the rest of your week was better!
kookyrunner says
I think I’m part of the 2% of the population that loves burpees, haha.
Matty is a true gift – he really has no problem being silly and making runs fun, which is totally what I needed today.
I do 98% of my workouts in the morning and every now and then I’m reminded of why I do morning workouts, lol.
Cari says
So glad your company puts some priority on mental health. So necessary. Wish you could have earned a bonus day after your “No Good, Very Bad” day. Do you remember that book from when we were kids? HUGS. Hope you get a break.
Congrats on Hell Week. I can’t wait to do Matty’s class. It wasn’t on demand Thursday yet, so hopefully will do it Tuesday.
kookyrunner says
Yes, I’m very thankful to my company for giving us two mental health days during the year. I know not every company provides that.
I totally remember that book and that would describe that day perfectly – thanks for the hugs!
Wendy says
Ugh to your bad day. I had one of those on Wednesday, where I was slammed with really complicated patients–mental health issues are a big problem for kids right now. Actually, I could use a mental health day. AS IF my company would give us those. Thank goodness for running, right?
Congrats on finishing Hell Week! I’d do it for the t-shirt, for sure!
kookyrunner says
That makes me so sad to hear that so many children are dealing with mental health issues. It totally makes sense based on everything they have dealt with since last March.
Jenny says
Congratulations on completing Hell Week! Sounds like you enjoyed it- other than Thursday. Whenever I decide to work out in the evening, I seem to have a day like that! Things go better if I just get it done in the morning.
LOVE that hell week shirt!!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jenny! totally agree that things are just better when the workout is done first thing in the morning.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Sorry about your car! That sounds like a stressful day I had to laugh when you said you you made 30 candy bags. We made 240 and they were all gone! Some kids may have taken more than 1 when we were inside, but most of the time we were out there handing them out.
kookyrunner says
Wow! 240 bags is awesome. I think the most we’ve given out before was 60 bags. We don’t have a lot of kids that live in my development anymore so the numbers have definitely decreased.
Black Knight says
Congrats on your Hell Week and the shirt is very beautiful.
Love the meme with the cat (you know, I’m an animal lover)..
Happy Halloween!!!!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Congrats on completing another Hell Week; and yes, I like your hard-earned shirt as well! I’m sorry your Thursday was so tough. š
kookyrunner says
Thanks Debbie. Hoping I won’t have any more fender benders for a very long time!
Jenn says
Yay for a third Hell Week! Matty in the bunny head is a no go for me – that’s scary!
Sorry you had a not so great day sprinkled in. That’s never fun!
Hope you got some trick or treaters! We had quite a few, and it ended up being a really nice night.
kookyrunner says
Matty’s costume was definitely…unique? LoL. I found it to be scary but also funny.
We had around 35 trick or treaters which is about normal for us.
Liz Dexter says
Wow on the burpees! Even though I’ve been told how to do them, I still worry I’m doing them wrong and will hurt myself. What a great week for you, even with the crappy bits interspersed. I have actually been for a short run this morning, so that feels like big progress and I’m glad I’ll have running in my life again (hopefully).
kookyrunner says
It’s definitely easy to get injured doing a burpee the wrong way (that has happened to me before). I always make sure I’m set up properly before doing them.
