Happy Sunday π How were your first few days of 2020? Mine were pretty good. Everyone was back to work on Thursday and Friday, so the last part of my week was super busy but I still can’t complain. I hope that the year is off to a good start for you.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, December 30
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (60 minutes)
I love a good ESP (endurance, strength and power) workout! We had a lot of switching during this workout (rower to floor, floor to treadmill) but it did run smoothly. We have 4 “runs for distance” on the treadmill but I got a horrible side stitch during the 3rd run for distance so I had to slow down – that sucked!
I also shared my 2019 race medal haul on IG for the last #MedalMonday of 2019. It was a good year!
Tuesday, December 31
Orangetheory Fitness (90 minutes)
Happy New Year’s Eve! What better way to close the year (and decade) than with a 90 minute OTF class at 6am? This 90 minute class didn’t feel as hard as the 90 minute class I took on Christmas Eve so maybe I’m getting stronger? We had 3 28 minute blocks on the treadmill, rower and floor. I am also happy to report that my ‘head bopper’ I purchased from Party City stayed on for the entire class!
I also pulled my 2019 stats for OTF. Not too bad for just 6 months but I’m looking to at least double these numbers in 2020!
Wednesday, January 1
OrangeTheory Fitness – Endurance (60 minutes) + core workout (5 minutes)
Happy New Year! You just know I had to kick off the year with OTF, right?! I’ll admit that my body definitely was not well recovered from the 90 minute class the day before, or the class son Monday. Therefore my legs were pretty trashed and I couldn’t go as fast as I wanted on the treadmill, but I still got in a great workout, and my mom got an All Out PR on the treadmill!
I also started my monthly core challenge. I’ll be doing a core workout daily in January.
Thursday, January 2
Rest Day.
My body was feeling pretty beat up from the OTF class the previous day, so I decided to take a rest day. Also when I looked back at my workout log, I saw that my last rest day was December 19 – I would say I was due for a rest day, lol.
Friday, January 3
Peloton Cycle (60 minutes) + core workout (5 minutes).
Originally I was planning on doing a cycle/run workout by my right hip was bothering me so I decided to do another class on the bike.
Saturday, January 4
3 mile run + core workout (5 minutes).
I originally planned on doing a 6 mile run but about 2 miles into my run I experience a weird feeling in the arch of my right foot. I decided to cut my run short at 3 miles. I did a 1 mile walk after and it felt fine, so I’m hoping that it was a fluke. When I got home, I was going to take a Peloton cycle class but they were having technical issues so I couldn’t access any classes. It definitely wasn’t the best workout day, lol
Sunday, January 5
OrangeTheory Fitness – Endurance (60 minutes) + core workout (5 minutes).
It felt good to start off my day with OTF, especially an endurance class. My foot felt totally fine on the treadmill during class so I think that was just some weird fluke yesterday – thank goodness.
Total Weekly Mileage: 10.7 miles
Summary: 5 runs, 3 cycle classes and 4 OTF workouts
Grade This Week β A+
Overall, not a bad week at all. One thing that did irritate me this week was blog scraping. Basically two asshole websites have copied many of my blog posts on their websites. They don’t link back to me to give me credit at all. Yes, I know that this isn’t a big deal when compared to many other larger issues going on in the world, but it just REALLY annoys me that anyone would think that this is okay! I’ve taken the necessary steps to have the content removed but I doubt anything will get done.
One fun thing that did happen this week was becoming part of the inaugural Pro Alumni program (hooray for the class of 2020)! I’ve been a Pro Compression ambassador for many years and I have no graduated to their new alumni program. Looking forward to continuing to spread the word about Pro Compression in the new year!
Also, as I mentioned in my January 2020 Goals post, I’m back on WW (formerly Weight Watchers) and it’s going really well so far. I’m almost a week into the program and it’s really helped me to get back on track. I stopped by Trader Joe’s after my OTF class today and stocked up on some items to make sure I continue this wave of success into next week.
That’s it! I hope you had a great week π
Iβm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I love how you’ve embraced OTF! Are you completely giving up running or will you work it in? I love the balance.
I’m actually publishing a post on blog scraping on Tuesday. I figured that after all I learned about this, I need to share it! The sad thing is, there’s not much we can do to prevent it, just try to minimize the damage. Ugh.
kookyrunner says
I’m still trying to make sure that I get in 10-20 miles a week. It helps that we run during every OTF class. Eventually I’ll have to start half marathon training again so I’ll need to up the mileage.
Looking forward to your blog scraping post on Tuesday!
Catrina says
Me too, Wendy! Looking forward to that post on blog scraping!
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
I love how much you love OTF and you have gotten your amazing mom on board too! Are you doing the Peloton core challenge? Your year is off to a great start! Is there a new schedule for the Tuesday topics?
kookyrunner says
I’m doing the Annual 2020 Peloton Challenge. I’m not doing the Crush Your Core challenge again, but just picking different core workouts on the app to do each day. So far, so good!
I just posted the new schedule under the Tuesday Topics tab on my blog π
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
Sorry about the scrapers, I guess it’s a back handed complement for having good content? I love the champaign & gainz shirt. Congrats on a strong start to the year!
kookyrunner says
That’s what my friend said as well, but I don’t think I put out super exciting content, lol.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I still go to WW meetings. Pretty much every week. After like 12 years (but have been lifetime for about 30 years!). It does work. π
That is a LOT of working out. You are bada$$!
Doesn’t matter whether or not you make money from your blog, no one should steal your words!
kookyrunner says
That’s awesome that you have are a lifetime WW member! I love speaking to people that have had success with the program.
Darlene says
Blog scraping. Ugh.
You are doing great with your OTF and Peleton workouts. Very impressive.
Hope your foot pain is gone.
Mine is hanging around. Very frustrating.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Darlene. I’m really sorry that your foot pain is still lingering π
Kimberly Hatting says
YOU have become the OTG Queen!! Way to ROCK those workouts!! Years ago, I made a bunch of ebibs (?) on a site…and I put my FB page name on all of them. They have since re-used most of those ebibs, but have removed my name from them. UGH. Not the same as the scraping, but annoying! In the long run, I resolved that I should be flattered they like my content enough to keep it (and use it repeatedly), but still it sucks that they never gave me credit or recognized where it came from. Lesson learned!
kookyrunner says
Wow that’s really not cool at all. What is up with people stealing and thinking that it’s okay?
Catrina says
You are killing it!! And yes, you absolutely needed that rest day on 2 January!
I have never heard of “blog scraping”. How annoying that other people simply copy/paste your content on their own blog! How did you find out? That might be an interesting topic for a post one day.
kookyrunner says
It’s so annoying! And honestly, my content isn’t earth shattering so why steal it? LOL
Laurie says
Wow! You are killing the OTF. Way to go! No wonder it seems easier to you. My first days of 2020 have been good. I did a 3-hour trail race yesterday and it was a lot of fun. Looking forward to shorter runs in 2020. No marathons in the picture for me.
kookyrunner says
Wow, 3 hour trail race? Awesome job!
No marathons for me in 2020 either.
angela @ happy fit mama says
Ugh – blog scrappers. I’ve been hit with so many of those. It’s annoying even when you do get the link back. I still need to try OTF – it looks so fun! Maybe 2020 is the year?!?!
kookyrunner says
I just don’t understand why websites do this – it’s so annoying!
2020 should be the year you try OTF! π
Zenaida Arroyo says
I had never hear of blog scaping and actually had to look it up. How did you find that that’s what had happened to you? Congrats on the ProCompression ambassadorship!! You are definitely the PERFECT ambassador for them.
kookyrunner says
Another blogger actually contacted me after she found her content on the website. She looked at other blogs on the website and found that they stole from many other bloggers, including me.
Marcia says
Woot for an A+ week and congrats to your mom on her all-out PR! So exciting! No, the blog scraping IS a big deal and its SO annoying. I’ve dealt with it on a few occasions but was successful in getting it shut down pretty quickly. The worst was when someone lifted pics of my daughters (then 6 and 11) and used their pics (complete with my blog watermark) on some porny predator-type website. I was sick to my stomach. Notice now you’ll almost never see my kids anywhere on social media.
All that said, I hope you get the issue resolved. Scrapers suck.
kookyrunner says
That is just downright sickening! I do not blame you at all for not showing photos of your kids on social media after that experience. I am glad that you were able to get the photos pulled quickly.
Liz Dexter says
Blog scraping is SO annoying. I get it all the time on my professional blog. What I do is always have links to other pages or blog posts, then when I get an alert about a linkback I can trace it back to someone who’s stolen the content. My cease and desists have always worked but it’s tedious as anything!
Well done on a good week. I have had a look and the nearest Orangefitness place is about 70 miles from here! Very odd as I’m in the UK’s second city. Anyway Happy New Year and happy running (and foot arches).
kookyrunner says
That’s so frustrating that you have to deal with this so often! This is my first experience with it and it’s crazy how much I’m getting the runaround, even with sending the cease and desist letters!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Great job with all those OTF classes! That was smart to listen to your body and cut your run short. How did you find out about the blog scraping? Its so crazy that people do things like that!
kookyrunner says
Luckily another blogger contacted me about the blog scraping. She discovered her blog posts on the website and then did some more digging and realized that they had copied many other bloggers as well.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
You are crushing your OTF workouts! Way to go!
That really sucks about the blog scrapping – how in the world did you even know?
I am really glad to hear the thing with the arch of your foot was just a fluke!
kookyrunner says
Yeah I’m happy that the foot thing was just a weird fluke.
Luckily another blogger contacted me about the blog scraping. She discovered her blog posts on the website and then did some more digging and realized that they had copied many other bloggers as well.
Cari says
Glad your foot was just a fluke thing 0 and congrats on amazing OTF year. And yay mom on the all out.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Cari!
Chaitali says
That was definitely a well deserved rest day! And boo to the blog scraping π I hope it gets removed. And yay to your mom on that PR π
kookyrunner says
Thanks! Besides the blog scraping, it was a really good week!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
I’m very intrigued by the blog scraping. Looks like I will have to check with Wendy this week! I’ve never heard of it. i have heard of just about every financial scam on earth though because I work at a bank and we get that every day π Love your Chicago jacket. I need to run a race with a cool jacket like that!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! This was the jacket from the 2017 Chicago Marathon. It’s pretty thin so it’s perfect for running in the rain and I don’t get overheated!
Andrea Signor says
Woohoo!! Great start to the year!
kookyrunner says
thanks Andrea!
Jenn says
Congratulations on your ProCompression alumnus status! I’m probably going to need to purchase a bunch of those once I can get a sock on again!
Would you believe we didn’t even pop our bubbly on NYE? I was in bed at 9:30! #LAME
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jenn! If you need a discount code for Pro Compression, you know where to find me π
Coco says
I love all your OTF classes! And congrats to your mom! The blog scraping sucks. It happened to me a while ago, and after spending a few frustrating hours on it, I let it go. Do you think anyone reads those types of blogs anyway?
kookyrunner says
that’s a good point! The “blog” that stole my content looks really odd so I don’t know if they get visitors, but it still just sucks that the owner thinks it’s okay to steal content.
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
Ugh that’s so annoying about your blog content! Why anyone thinks its ok to plagiarize someone else’s work is beyond me. Hope it gets resolved!
And yay for being alumni! I miss you in the ambassador group but I’ll go alum next year. I just got one more year to make up for missing 2017 π
kookyrunner says
Yup, you’ll be in the alumni group soon!
RenΓ©e says
Happy 2020 Kim! You’re off to an amazing start! And your Mom smashed it up already!! Congrats to her!
I *really* wish we had OTF here. Maybe some year… !!
Congrats on PC ambassadorship again! I stopped buying socks last year so I couldn’t justify applying again. Still love the socks but it was easier to save than money (and also from not buying InB) than I thought. More travel money!
kookyrunner says
I’m all about more money for travel!
Angela Campos says
I am loving that Champagne t-shirt! Also, great weekly medal run down!! Sounds like a very solid week π I do really like Pro Compression as well!!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I actually forgot that I had the champagne shirt and it was perfect for the workout!
Jessie says
Awesome week Kim! Glad you gave yourself a well deserved rest day π You’re a machine!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jessie!
