Happy Sunday! I hope that everyone had a great week. August is off to a good start for me – I hope it is for you as well!
Here’s how my workouts went this week.
Monday, August 2
Women of Rock Ride 3/11/20 – Jenn (30 minutes)
Arms Toning 2/26/21 – Cliff (10 minutes)
Core Strength 11/20/20 – Matty (10 minutes)
Intervals Run 12/3/19 – Jess (30 minutes)
Antelope Island State Park Scenic Class (10 minutes)
WHM: Women of Pop Yoga Flow 3/12/21 – Aditi (30 minutes)
Happy Monday! I did a little bit of everything for this workout. I like to mix in an arms toning class at least once a week. It’s low impact but not easy. I also enjoyed the intervals run as it was a nice way to ease into the week. Today also marked the start of Matty’s Summer Crunch. I’ll be doing one of Matty’s 10 min core classes every weekday this month. He kicked off the challenge with a strong class – my abs were feeling the burn for most of the class!
Tuesday, August 3
Core Strength 3/5/21 – Matty (10 minutes)
Pre-Run Warm Up 7/22/21 – Matt (5 minutes)
90s Fun Run 7/31/19 – Jess (45 minutes)
WHM Celebration Ride 3/9/20 – Kendall (45 minutes)
Post-Ride Stretch 1/16/20 – Sam (5 minutes)
Arms & Light Weights 3/21/21 – Cliff (10 minutes)
Chris Cornell Yoga 8/3/21 – Kirra (30 minutes)
This run actually felt great! I find that Matt has the best pre-run warm up classes which usually get me pumped for my run. I threw in a few run/walk intervals in the middle of the run which helped me to conserve energy to finish strong.
Wednesday, August 4
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (45 minutes)
Core Strength 1/23/20 – Matty (10 minutes)
Hip Hop Fun Run 7/2/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
WHM Celebration Ride 3/4/20 – Matt (30 minutes)
Arms & Light Weights 3/5/21 – Cliff (10 minutes)
I feel like every day I go to OTF it’s a strength workout day, lol. Oh well, at least it’s making me stronger! Loved the 20 min hip hop fun run because of the great playlist. The core class was a little weird for me because some of the moves were hurting my back. There were two core moves that I had never done before and those were the ones that aggravated my back. I just modified the moves and it worked out okay.
Thursday, August 5
Orangetheory Fitness – Power (45 minutes)
Core Strength 5/6/21 – Matty (10 minutes)
Intervals Run 5/22/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
2000’s Bike Bootcamp 8/5/21 – Jess (45 minutes)
WHM Celebration Yoga Flow 3/16/21 – Anna (30 minutes)
Finally got a power day workout at OTF! Unfortunately for me it included a bunch of all outs on the treadmill AND multiple variations of burpees – yikes. Also, I don’t know what I was thinking doing an OTF class the same day as a Jess Sims bike bootcamp, lol. Since it was her birthday, it was only right to celebrate her special day with a live bike bootcamp. It was hard, as expected, and it took me a few extra minutes of stretching/recovery before I was ready to leave my mat. I decided to do a yoga class to help calm my body down a bit and get in a good stretch.
Friday, August 6
Core Strength 2/8/21 – Matty (10 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (60 minutes)
Flash 15 8/6/21 – Jess (15 minutes)
Women of Pop Ride 3/8/20 – Hannah C (30 minutes)
I had a great OTF class but those 60 minute classes vs 45 minute classes definitely feel very different even though it’s only a 15 minute difference. It’s been Spirit Week all week at the studio and the theme for the day was Twins, so my mom and I were “twinning”.
I also celebrated my 400th strength class with Jess for the Flash 15 class. As always, I’m convinced she tried to kill us in that short amount of time. On the plus side, there were no burpees.
Saturday, August 7
WHM Celebration Ride 3/9/20 – Olivia (30 minutes)
Core Strength 6/2/21 – Jess (20 minutes)
Caribbean Bootcamp 8/7/21 – Jess (60 minutes)
Post-Run Stretch 6/24/21 – Matt (5 minutes)
Fit Family Cardio Brain Break 12/14/20 – Jess (5 minutes)
Fit Family Cardio Brain Break 12/28/20 – Jess (5 minutes)
The bootcamp was actually fun! The running and strength portions weren’t “fun” but the music made it bearable, lol. I really love all of Matt’s pre-run and post-run stretches because they are short but very efficient.
Sunday, August 8
Dolomites Scenic Class (10 minutes)
BHM: Rock Ride 2/19/21 – Olivia (20 minutes)
Chris Cornell Ride 8/4/21 – Christine (45 minutes)
Chris Cornell Core Strength 8/2/21 – Emma (20 minutes)
WHM Celebration Yoga Flow 3/28/21 – Kristin (30 minutes)
I wanted a more low-key day for workouts (no running, no lunges/jumps, no weights, etc) and this was the perfect stack for that. The core class was an ab burner since there were basically no breaks.
Total Weekly Mileage: 16.6 miles
Summary: 7 runs*, 7 cycle, 2 bootcamps, 4 yoga and 16 OTF/strength/HIIT classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 374/377
On Thursday I saw that the Seawheeze Virtual 10K & Half Marathon was only $5.00 and that all the profits were being split between three organizations – Back on My Feet, Black Men Run, and Girls on the Run. Even though I wasn’t planning on running another 10K next month, I couldn’t pass up registering for this race since all the money is going to charity. If you’re interested, you can register here and run the 10k or half marathon anytime between September 18-26.
I also want to take a moment to give a huge shoutout to Allyson Felix! I haven’t watched much of the Summer Olympics, but I was beyond thrilled that she obtained her 10th Olympic medal in epic fashion. I also love that this is a big FU to Nike for the shameful way they treated her while she was pregnant.
…and now for this week’s memes
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

You kicked off August with a bang! Love hearing about all those OTF classes! I hadn’t realized Athleta was sponsoring Alison Felix until this week I also heard she with Athleta started a fun to help athlete mothers with childcare expenses — really getting to the roadblocks the athletes face.
Too bad there’s a Nike logo on her top, though!
kookyrunner says
I just found out about her sponsorship with Athleta last month and was surprised too. It seems like they kept that under the radar for a while!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I loved hearing about Alison Felix at the Olympics. So inspiring! Great job with all those workouts. And you and your mom look great twinning!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! We have a few of the same shits that we have purchased at race expos so it was easy to be twins for the day!
Deborah Brooks says
I did not know that about. Athleta and Nike-good for her I love that she told Nike to go stuff it. You started off the month super strong! Love your variety and congrats on your strength milestone.
I also signed up for the Seawheeze 10K “see you” there
kookyrunner says
It seems like Athleta is definitely a better fit and they value their female athletes which is a huge plus!
Kimberly Hatting says
Allyson Felix is SUCH a powerhouse, and it was amazing watching her on the track (and listening to her interviews). All I can say about the Nike thing is Karma is a 81tch, and she bites hard LOL I Love the twinning with your mom…even down to the shoes!
kookyrunner says
She really is! I was ecstatic for her 🙂 Nike is getting everything they deserve at this point!
Wendy says
Way to start off August! Congrats on #400 strength workout! Was it your mom’s 400th too? You guys are the cutest.
I love that Allison Felix killed it at the Olympics. Ever since I read that Nike book, I’ve been cheering for all the ladies who left them.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Wendy! I was pretty psyched about the strength milestone. My mom hasn’t hit the 400 strength milestone yet but she should later on this year.
Jenny says
Wow, you really killed it this week! You must have been extra inspired by Allison. 🙂 Watching those four women win the 4×400 relay was incredible! They crushed it- so much fun to watch. And how about Athing Mu- I could just watch her run all day long.
kookyrunner says
I think Allyson gave me a little pep in my step for sure, and also Molly! I just love seeing strong women crushing their goals.
Jessie says
Allyson is incredible. So fun to watch! You had a full and fun week Kim! Love to see how you stack up all the classes, it gives me great ideas!
kookyrunner says
I am so happy for her – what a great showing at the Olympics!
Marcia says
You are slaying August so far Kim! I am so SO happy for the amazing Allyson Felix. How stupid could Nike be doing what they did? Omg redemption is sweet! Congrats on the strength milestone!
kookyrunner says
Nike has to be licking their wounds right now, and rightfully so. Hopefully it’s a wake up call to other companies to treat their female athletes with respect.
Michelle D. says
Such a strong week Kim! Awesome start to August! And congrats on your 400th strength class.
I just love Allyson Felix and am so happy she had such a strong Olympics! I also love that she’s now partnered with Athleta – they also signed Simone Biles.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle! I saw that Simone was also with Athleta and that made me so happy. That company seems to really stand behind female athletes which makes me want to support them even more.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Great week for you! I love that picture of you and your mom. Congrats on the 400th strength class! I knew about Athleta sponsoring Allyson but didn’t know they also sponsor Simone Biles until I went to the store this past week and saw an ad. Ugh on Nike! I still do not understand how some women are still going with them for sponsorship.
kookyrunner says
Yeah, I really try to avoid all things Nike because I really just cant give my money to a company that treats their female athletes so poorly.
Liz Dexter says
Love you and your mum’s outfits, even down to the shoes!!!! And a great strong week. It was great seeing Felix do so well and we even got to see her which was amazing as we usually only get to see British people (which is OK but slightly annoying).
kookyrunner says
Thanks! We got the sneakers years ago at an expo because we loved the colors, lol.
Jenn says
Nike truly screwed up with that. Way to go, Felix!
A day without burpees is a good day, in my work. Happy August!
kookyrunner says
I secretly like burpees…just not an endless supply of them, lol.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
OTF + Bootcamp? Ouch! You are bada44, Kim.
Sounds like a really strong week for you (and your mom!).
kookyrunner says
OTF + Bootcamp was not my wisest decision – definitely will not be doing that again, lol.
