Happy Sunday. The beginning of March means the beginning of my bad allergy season. I lost count of how many sneezing fits I had this week. That, mixed in with a lot of nasal congestion, feeling itchy and watery eyes made for a not-so-fun week. It was also super windy this week so I’m not sure if that added to all the crazy allergy symptoms. Luckily my symptoms died down as the week went on.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, March 1
Peloton Turkey Burn Bootcamp 11/28/19 – Andy (45 minutes)
Peloton Bad Boy Entertainment Ride 2/27/21 – Alex & Tunde (45 minutes)
Peloton Core Strength 11/19/20 – Jess (5 minutes)
#nevermissamonday and happy first day of March! Kicked off the week with a little bit of everything. The Turkey Burn bootcamp was actually a lot of fun. We had fun “turkey” themed moves on the floor and Andy spoke a lot about showing gratitude during the treadmill sections. I knew the ride would be great and it did not disappoint. I’m declaring this month to be Core with Jess. Not an official Peloton program, but I’m going to work my way through all of Jess Sims’ core classes, ranging from 5-30 minutes. It should be fun!
Tuesday, March 2
Peloton BHM Celebration Ride 2/6/21 – Hannah F (30 minutes)
Peloton Core Strength 4/8/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (45 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Bodyweight Strength 12/21/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
Peloton Pride Yoga Flow 6/17/19 – Kristin (30 minutes)
I took advantage of having a late afternoon OTF class and got in a quick ride and core class during my lunch break. The OTF class had a little bit of everything and my chart finally looked like a pyramid (that’s ultimately what you should strive for during every class). The yoga class felt great, especially for my lower back.
Wednesday, March 3
Orangetheory Fitness – Power (45 minutes)
Peloton All-Star Warm Up Ride 5/30/20 – Alex (5 minutes)
Peloton All-Star Ride 5/30/20 – Alex (30 minutes)
Peloton All-Star Cool Down Ride 5/30/20 – Alex (5 minutes)
Peloton Y2K Fun Walk 6/5/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
Peloton Core Strength 7/3/19 – Jess (15 minutes)
Started off the day with an OTF class and had no idea I would spend so much time on the rower – it was a little brutal. I did Robin’s All-Star ride last year but never did Alex’s so I decided to do it because I heard it was really good, and it was! The weather was decent (a little windy) but not too cold so I was able to get out for a quick lunchtime walk – I really miss these walks and look forward to doing them more often as the weather gets better.
It was also my mom’s 200th OTF class!
Thursday, March 4
Peloton Hip Hop Fun Run 5/5/19 – Rebecca (30 minutes)
Peloton Hip Hop Ride 5/5/19 – Robin (30 minutes)
Peloton Post-Ride Stretch 1/11/21 – Jess (5 minutes)
Peloton Core Strength 5/23/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
Peloton Megan thee Stallion Ride 3/4/21 – Kendall (30 minutes)
I was glad I was able to get most of these workouts done before work because it was a very hectic day. I actually had to do a short meditation class mid-day and step away from my laptop before I replied back to someone with a not so nice email. The person really pissed me off which is hard to do. I usually don’t workout twice in one day, but I wanted to do the Megan the Stallion ride live at 7:30pm. It was a wise choice as it was fun and a great way to blow off steam after a long workday.
Friday, March 5
Peloton Core Strength 7/19/19 – Jess (15 minutes)
Peloton Pop Fun Run 5/4/19 – Robin (30 minutes)
Peloton Pop Ride 5/3/19 – Ally (30 minutes)
Peloton Pride Yoga Flow 6/25/19 – Denis (30 minutes)
I woke up at my normal time and had no desire to workout. I didn’t go back to sleep, instead I grabbed an early breakfast and watched the news before logging on for work. Again, another crazy day at work (I’m so over this week if you couldn’t tell). Granted I had to move my workout to later on in the afternoon but it was fine.
Saturday, March 6
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (45 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Strength 12/22/20 – Robin (20 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Run 1/25/21 – Jess (20 minutes)
Peloton Core Strength 3/19/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
I absolutely loved the workout template for the OTF class! It was a 3G class so we spent equal time on the treadmill, rower and floor. The treadmill had increasing and decreasing inclines, but they were manageable. The rowing block focused on steady paces with a few faster paces mixed in. On the floor we had lower reps with higher weights. I also got to take class with a coach I haven’t seen in a while so that was great too.
Sunday, March 7
Peloton 80s Fun Run 5/3/19 – Selena (30 minutes)
Peloton 80s Ride 5/5/19 – Denis (30 minutes)
Peloton Megan thee Stallion Core 3/5/21 – Emma (10 minutes)
Peloton Turkey Burn Yoga Flow 11/28/19 – Ross (30 minutes)
I’m a fan of 80s music but don’t listen to it as much as I should so these classes were fun! Both Selena and Denis had great playlists. The core class was pretty hard but I expect nothing less from Emma, lol. I’ll do a yoga class later on today.
Total Weekly Mileage: 14.8 miles
Summary: 7 runs*, 1 bootcamp, 7 cycle, 3 yoga and 11 OTF/strength classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 226/228
Grade This Week ā A
My favorite Peloton instructor, Jess, is taking some time off so no #Saturday60 bootcamp this week but that’s totally fine as there are tons of other classes available to take. This year I’m trying to take all of the classes that are linked to badges and I’m also doing #YearofJess which is basically trying to take all of Jess Sims classes. Right now I’m working my way through the 2019 classes with badges. I don’t think I’ll be able to complete either one this year but I know it will keep my occupied all year!
Earlier in the week, the governor of Connecticut announced that some restrictions for businesses would be eased as of March 19. This includes eliminating capacity requirements for businesses such as restaurants, gyms, malls, churches, museums, etc. But he also said that the mask mandate and social distancing would still be required. Anyone else confused by this? Just trying to figure out how you enforce social distancing at a restaurant or gym with no capacity restrictions. I think he’s basically banking on everyone getting the vaccine…but even with that thinking, lifting restrictions in 2 weeks makes NO sense considering most of the state has not received vaccines. It would have made more sense to do this in a few months. I’m a little concerned that my OTF studio will allow more people in classes after March 19th. They haven’t said anything yet so hopefully they won’t change anything, but if they do, I won’t really feel comfortable and will probably freeze my membership. Even though masks are still required, it kind of defeats the purpose if you have 30 people packed into a class.
…and now for this week’s memes š
That’s it! I hope you had a great week š
Iām linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I am so confused by the places that are lifting so many restrictions. I can understand wanting businesses to be opened but it needs to be done safely. (And I really don’t get the places that are lifting mask mandates…) It feels like we are so close to getting through this and I just hope we don’t have a big setback!
Great job with your workouts this week! I hope nothing changes at your OTF studio and you can keep going!
kookyrunner says
Totally agree. It feels like we’re making so much great progress and this behavior is going to set us back. It’s so annoying!
Jessie says
ha, a video chat kit by the desk is great! My company almost ALWAYS does video…I have friends whose companies don’t and I’m jealous!
That is confusing about listing capacity restrictions…I totally get your concern about OTF if they allow full capacity…
kookyrunner says
It’s pretty much 50/50 at my job – it all depends on who the meeting is with. The worst are the early morning video calls!
I hope that OTF keeps things the same. I love going there but will have no problem freezing my membership.
Kimberly Hatting says
Wow, another great week! Congrats to your mom on the big 200!!!! I can only imagine how great those 80’s classes are…that was my era LOL
kookyrunner says
Thanks #kimtwin! The 80s classes were fun š
RenƩe @runlaugheatpie says
Kiim you had a great week of workouts but I sure know about the stress and having to adapt and change your schedule. I also nearly lost it Thursday on my colleagues and instead of going too off the deep end I just excused myself and took a break. I think starting your day differently Friday was the right thing to do.
Personally I too would be confused by restrictions or lack thereof and just stay away from places or stay away if it’s too busy. I think most governments are banking on people doing the right thing when *gestures widely at everything* that’s the reason we are in this mess.
Hope you have a better week next week!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Renee! Walking away is always the best thing to do in those situations. It was hard for me to take a step back and have a break but at the same time it was absolutely necessary. Hopefully this week will be better for both of us!
You are so right about “people doing the right thing” – as we can see that literally doesn’t exist!
Deborah Brooks says
I can see how you might be leery of going back to OTF with so many people. I am not getting the rush to do these things yet. That Alex and Tunde right was hard and fun. Admittedly, I did not know half of the songs! I do feel like we have all aged this year! Cute memes š Have a great week
kookyrunner says
Yeah, I’m just hoping that OTF doesn’t change things because the process they have now is working and it’s safe. I just hate that the state is going to open back up so soon – it’s not a good idea at all.
I really liked the Alex and Tunde ride too!
Jenny says
Ha ha, those memes are hilarious. I would love to see what’s in your “video chat” kit.
Sounds like you had a great week of workouts! It’s funny because I was in high school and college during the 80s, but actually hate most 80s music. The songs are so strange! “Turning Japanese…” What?????
kookyrunner says
My “video chat” kit has a cardigan, headband, earrings and a few makeup items – nothing too extravagant but enough to make me look human on video chat lol.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Oh, the states lifting mask mandates — and the idiots throwing their masks away. Although it does feel like everyone around me is vaccinated, still. I do kind of get opening up businesses more, but keeping the mask mandates & social distancing in force. Well, I’m still not planning to dine in anytime soon.
Sorry this week at work was so hard, Kim. Here’s to a better week next week!
kookyrunner says
Same here. I will not be dining indoors anytime soon but will do outdoor dining this summer after I’m vaccinated. I’m just really worried about that this means for gyms. I would hate to freeze my OTF membership but would have to if they change the rules.
melissa says
Getting in a workout before a busy day is a must – for my sanity! Glad you’ve been able to. Also – I’m dying to know – what’s in your “video call kit” near your desk for those camera emergencies?
kookyrunner says
My āvideo chatā kit has a cardigan, headband, earrings and a few makeup items – just enough to make me look human on a video call, lol.
Darlene S Cardillo says
Boo on the allergies but Yay on al your OTF and peleton workouts. You rock.
I give up. I cannot understand what is going on. Is it so hard to wear a mask. I still wear one and I got both vaccines. Geez.
People don’t realize that most people have NOT gotten their vaccines yes.
kookyrunner says
Same here – I just give up on trying to find the logic in the decisions. I don’t even think 30% of the state has been vaccinated so opening everything back up to full capacity is just crazy to me.
Wendy says
I’m worried that states are lifting restrictions too soon. At least you still have to mask and socially distance! Texas and Mississippi have gone rogue. It’s concerning. We aren’t there yet. There’s an infectious disease doctor on the local morning news every day; he says we are probably at about 30% herd immunity, between people who have had COVID and those who’ve gotten the vaccine. It’s not enough. Praying that these variants don’t take hold. Oh, and I’m tired of it too!
Your OTF classes look like so much fun. Congrats on #200!
kookyrunner says
Same here – While I totally understand that everyone have Covid burnout and wants to return to “normal” as soon as possible, this just isn’t the right way to do it.
Coco says
LOL on that last meme. The basement where my office is set up is so cold, I usually do have a blanket wrapped around my shoulders, and one on my lap!
Congrats on your 200th OTF class! Iām sort of afraid of the Meghan Thee Stallion classes!
The lifting of covid restrictions right now makes no sense. Weāre struggling to get my Mom an appointment and sheās in the > 65 group (of course!). So far Virginia is holding strong, but I bet people travel for Spring Break ….
kookyrunner says
My desk sits right near a window so I’m always a little cold in the mornings and always have a blanket nearby lol. The Meg ride was pretty fun and the core class was hard but I expect nothing less from Emma. I’m going to do the bootcamp class tomorrow morning.
Michelle D. says
OMG, that last meme is me for sure LOL!
I would be confused by the lifting of the COVID restrictions too – makes no sense! MA is rolling back restrictions and yet the vaccine appointment process is still a cluster. Throw in spring break and I’m afraid things could get ugly.
You had such an awesome week – I’m always amazed at all of the Peloton workouts you do on top of OTF! And congrats to your mom on her 200th!
kookyrunner says
That meme still cracks me up, lol.
I didn’t even think about Spring Break. Ugh – numbers will definitely increase. It’s so unfortunate because once we make progress we seem to take two steps back.
Marcia says
I agree that makes no sense to lift all restrictions and expect everyone to be able to social distance. Sheesh. IL went from 25% capacity to 50%. I did notice that Trader Joe’s is no longer sanitizing their shopping carts. Seems like a bit of a free for all if you ask me. Great week of workouts as usual!
kookyrunner says
I haven’t been to Trader Joe’s in a while because the line to get in the store is always so long! They were sanitizing the carts when I went in December but that was a few months ago so who knows what they are doing now. It’s just sad because we are making progress and now I feel like we’re taking steps backwards.
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
You had a great week of workouts, Kim! And congrats to your mom on her 200th OTF workout!
I love the March 2020 vs 2021 aging meme. That feels so true!
kookyrunner says
That is the most accurate meme to describe how I felt going into this month, lol
Zenaida Arroyo says
I love anything with 80s music! Those are the best classes. A vide chat kit? That is too funny! I am required (of course) to have my camera on all of the time. My students too but many don’t do it. I’ve told them that if they keep it up then I will also turn mine off. See how they like that. š
kookyrunner says
LoL! I bet all the kids will have their camera on since you said that, haha.
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
Congrats on your 200th OTF class! I miss going but I’m glad I have something else I can do like the OCR classes.
As far as re-opening…Florida has been 100% open since last September. We still have masks but mostly social distancing is gone and most places have gone back to full capacity so I kind of think I’m desensitized to it. I heard it this way recently and it made sense to me: people with the pandemic are either Elsa’s or Anna’s. Elsa’s still want to isolate from everyone and don’t want things to go back to normal; Anna’s are ready to get back to normal and are starved for human contact and social interaction. I’m an Anna I think. I’m ready to get back to normal. I haven’t gotten the vaccine yet, but I wear my mask and try to social distance but I’m going out and doing things because I’m done living behind closed walls. I know this is a choice though and everyone can see things differently.
kookyrunner says
I feel like I’m in-between Elsa and Anna lol. Once the majority of the country gets the vaccine I know I’ll be more comfortable with everything but because I live with my parents who are both 70, I need to continue to be very careful, especially since neither is fully vaccinated yet.
Jenn says
Eesh. I’m not even paying attention to Florida anymore. I went to the grocery store the other day (masked) and it was crazy how many people were without! What?
Allergies are the worst. Everything is totally carpeted with green and yellow pollen here. The boys usually suffer terribly, but acupuncture seems to be working for Mr PugRunner, and we have been militant about A and his Zyrtec. I hope you aren’t too uncomfortable š
kookyrunner says
Sometimes I feel like Florida is a different country – things are just SO different there.
The crazy thing is that last week it was still in the 30s and all the plants and stuff are still “dead” so I’m still not sure why my allergies were crazy.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Way to go on the 200 Mom! š Ohio just opened up the COVID vaccine for people over 50 so I am very excited to get mine! That is interesting about lifting restrictions on capacity. Nothing like that happening here. Great job on getting all the Peloton classes this week!
Liz Dexter says
I hear you on the allergies. I can’t blooming well SEE any flowers anywhere except daffs and croci but I’m blaming the catkins. And I’m sorry about the restrictions lifting and hope your gym stays sensible. We actually have quite a decently slow lifting going on at the moment (for once) and more and more people getting vaccines, but I think I’ll still lag behind what we’re “allowed” to do . I would like to be able to run with more than one other person and I think that comes at the end of this month if all goes well. Fingers crossed for you and yours!
kookyrunner says
Hopefully you’ll be able to run with more than one person by the end of the month. I like that they are lifting restrictions slowly – that’s super smart!
