Happy Sunday! I hope that everyone had a great week. Work and life in general has been hectic so I missed posting last week, but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, FINALLY! I apologize for being MIA on social media too.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, April 25
Hip Hop Walk 7/28/21 – Adrian (45 minutes)
Paramore Arms & Light Weights 4/21/22 – Kendall (10 minutes)
Arms & Shoulders Strength 11/19/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
Still keeping things low impact, so most of the week was spent doing walks and upper body strength classes. Loved the playlist for Adrian’s hip hop walk!
Tuesday, April 26
Hip Hop Walk 4/25/22 – Marcel D (45 minutes)
Arms & Light Weights 7/15/21 – Tunde (10 minutes)
Arms & Light Weights 6/1/21 – Tunde (10 minutes)
Punk Rock Yoga Flow 4/21/22 – Kirra (30 minutes)
Celebrated my 200th walk with an on-demand class as I didn’t see any live classes that would fit my schedule. It ended up being a super fun walk class!
Wednesday, April 27
Full Body Stretch 4/22/22 – Erik (20 minutes)
Just a stretch to keep my Peloton streak alive because today was a big day – egg retrieval day AND the launch of the report I’ve been woking on for months. OF COURSE both would fall on the same day because that’s just my luck ๐ Surprisingly, everything worked out well! I prepped a lot of stuff the night before to make sure the report launch went well. I woke up at 6am to post the message from our CEO on our intranet (yes, I could have scheduled this to post at a certain time, but with the CEO messages I don’t like to rely on that, it’s way too important). Once that was squared away, I did some more work and I got ready for my appointment. I checked in at 8:30am and I was leaving the office by 10:30am. I really couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome – 15 eggs were retrieved and out of those, 12 were mature and frozen. I’m so thankful because I know that this is not the case for many women, especially at my age. I got home and showered, grabbed some soup for lunch and then spent the rest of the day working from my laptop in bed.
Overall the entire process involved a lot of steps and monitoring appointments, but the hardest part was getting over the fear of giving myself daily injections. Luckily I felt less anxious after the first day I did it. I probably won’t do a separate blog post about the experience, but if you have questions just message me on social media.
Thursday, April 28
Hip Hop Walk 11/4/21 – Joslyn (20 minutes)
Hip Hop Walk 2/21/22 – Jermaine (20 minutes)
Hip Hop Walk 1/4/22 – Kirsten (20 minutes)
Rock Upper Body Strength 4/23/22 – Rad (30 minutes)
Woke up feeling pretty good – a little tired and a little discomfort, but nothing crazy. I was in a hip hop mood (obviously) so I picked a few walks to get in my workout/steps for the day. I haven’t taken a class with Rad in a long time and I really enjoyed this one. It was a bit repetitive but still good.
Friday, April 29
Hip Hop Walk 4/28/22 – Jess (30 minutes)
Rock Walk 4/25/22 – Selena (20 minutes)
Upper Body Strength 7/27/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
Dance Cardio 3/5/20 – Cody & Hannah C (20 minutes)
70s Rock Yoga Flow 4/26/22 – Nico (30 minutes)
During the hip hop walk Jess spoke a little about her journey to running the Boston Marathon. I swear that woman is just an amazing human being and I love learning more about her. I made sure to do a dance cardio class to get the International Dance Class badge on my Apple Watch. I modified a lot and didn’t do any of the jumping, but I still enjoyed the class since Cody makes me laugh all the time.
Saturday, April 30
Grunge Ride 4/28/22 – Charlotte (15 minutes)
Power Walk 1/5/22 – Marcel D (45 minutes)
Upper Body Strength 4/5/22 – Jess (10 minutes)
Chest & Back Strength 10/29/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
First time back on the bike in a while so I decided to take it easy. I got through the ride but things felt a little off. It’s going to take about 1-2 weeks for my follicles to shrink back to normal size so I often feel a lot of pressure in my lower stomach area. I’ll continue to ease back into cycling. It will be nice to mix things up a little bit since I’m getting bored with the walk/strength combo. The power walk class was really fun. Of course I can’t hit all the speeds she called out, but it was still a great workout.
Sunday, May 1
Chest & Back Strength 4/5/22 – Jess (10 minutes)
Mana Ride 4/23/22 – Camila (20 minutes)
Warm Up Walk 3/7/22 – Tobias (10 minutes)
80s Walk 3/9/22 – Marcel D (30 minutes)
Spotify Women of Rock Yoga Flow 4/27/22 – Anna (30 minutes)
My ride today felt much better. The trick for now is to keep playing with the resistance. I hope that the rides will continue to feel better each day. The 80s walk was like a party on the treadmill. Great playlist and Marcel had a lot of sing-along moments which made me laugh. Usually I get annoyed when instructors sing over the music but in this case it was just funny to me. I’ll do the yoga class later on this evening after dinner.
Summary:
Running – 0 miles
Cycle – 6.67 miles
Strength Training – 140 minutes
Orangetheory Fitness – 0 minutes
Peloton Artist Series Classes – 555/587
So now that I have my eggs on ice, I just need to find a guy, lol. Honestly, the dating websites and apps are just SO bad. If you have any recommendations on how a 39 year old can meet a normal, mature guy, please let me know!
In Peloton related news, I’ve been trying to keep up with the Rock 22 Challenge. Basically you take a class fro their Rock 22 collection every day. Luckily they had a few stretch, walking, yoga and upper body strength classes in the collection so I’ve been able to keep up. There are SO many other classes in the collection I want to take – longer rides, runs and bootcamps – hopefully I can start doing those in a week or so. I also received my free gift for completing at least 15K minutes for their 2021 Annual Challenge. I was really happy with the outfit they sent me – the tank is super soft and I love joggers!
I paused my OTF membership when I started the egg freezing process since I knew that workout would be way too high impact to do during the process. I’m probably going to go back the week of May 9th, BUT a few days ago the studio decided to eliminate all of the 45 minute classes during the week (back to 60 minute classes for every class) and they changed the times of the classes too. The time change for the classes isn’t too significant, but it’s still enough for me to need to sit down and figure out what classes will now fit my schedule. I’m a little confused on why they eliminated the 45 minute classes because those were great and worked well for so many people. In addition, with switching the classes to 60 minutes, they now only have 5 minutes in between classes instead of the normal 15 minutes. I feel like this does a disservice to the coaches because now they have less time to catch their breathe between classes, interact with members, etc. I don’t know – between this and also all the switching of coaches schedules due to the soon-to-be opening of another studio, I really need to see if this is something I still want to do. I’ll see how things go during the summer.
…and now for this week’s memes.
That’s it! I hope you had a great week ๐
Iโm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
In Case You Missed It
Tuesday Topics: Solo vs. Group Running
Deborah Brooks says
ok wait that cannot be true on the peppers?! LOL. Glad to read that your egg retrieval went so well and that you are starting to feel back to regular again. Easing back in sounds like a great idea. You did fit in a lot this week. I have one more days of the rock 22 challenge which I found kind of annoying!
kookyrunner says
The peppers meme really shocked me – I can’t believe I didn’t know that, lol.
Ahh yes, you know how I feel about the Rock 22 Challenge. The challenges that count days vs number of classes are super annoying!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
I’m so happy that your egg freezing was so successful! I’m good on inflicting pain to others, but a little squeamish for myself, LOL! So great job there, too.
Glad that everything went well with the launch, too. That’s a whole lot of pressure at the same time, literally & figuratively.
I dunno, my neighbor who is a little older than me , has been married twice (divorced, and the second husband sadly died), and is now on her third relationship . . . I seriously don’t see how I would ever meet anyone these days. I really hope you do, Kim, you’re a catch for someone.
kookyrunner says
Ugh – it was such a high stress day but I am so glad that everything went well. The report got a lot of positive reviews too so I’m thankful for that too.
Awwe, thanks so much Judy ๐ It’s definitely hard to find men that want relationships nowadays, but I’m hopeful I’ll come across the right person eventually.
Wendy says
Good for you for having the foresight to save your eggs for when you want to be a mama! I remember going through that egg retrieval process when we had to do IVF. Fortunately, I had enough eggs to freeze for future use. My boys are technically ‘fraternal twins’ because they are from the same batch of embryos, lol. I am so grateful for the technology.
I did know that about the peppers, but I think the transformation makes them sweeter? Idk, but my hubs used to give me a hard time when I bought colored peppers. Seriously, they make me happy. Leave me alone. :p
kookyrunner says
That’s such a cool fact about your boys! I am also so thankful for technology and science that allows for this option.
I don’t eat peppers but my dad like red/green and my mom likes orange/yellow, so it’s always a funny discussion, lol.
Jenny says
That’s exciting about the eggs! Now you can relax and not feel the pressure to find a partner by a certain time. I think if it’s something you really want, it’ll happen for you.
Your upper body must be getting really strong- but I’m sure it’ll feel good to get back to your normal workouts.
I did know that about peppers! But they do get sweeter as they get more ripe- I like red peppers.
Have a great week!
kookyrunner says
Yes – I feel like I have a little bit more time, although not too much longer since I’m knocking on 40!
I haven’t been using super heavy weights for my upper body workouts so I’m sure I probably lost some strength but I will work hard this month to get it back.
Kimberly Hatting says
Glad the egg retrieval went well, but what a day! I knew green peppers turned red, but didn’t know the yellow/orange was part of the process. All I know is I love peppers, no matter the color ๐
kookyrunner says
Yes, it was quite the crazy day but so thankful that everything turned out fine!
The peppers meme still continues to blow my mind, lol.
Jessie says
I totally missed you were doing an egg retrieval! So happy it worked out so well, that’s incredible. It’s tough getting older isn’t it? But 15 age when you’re close to 40 is something to celebrate.
kookyrunner says
So tough getting older and I feel like I’m racing against a clock, lol. But I was glad that everything worked out well and I don’t have to do another egg retrieval cycle
Coco says
Iโm so glad your egg retrieval went so well! And that you were able to remain active and are feeling good through your recovery period. I canโt help you with dating apps. I met my husband at a club back in the day when I was going out at 10 instead of going to bed at 10. ๐
Iโm also glad your work project went well. I donโt blame you for not wanting to rely on a scheduled post for something really important.
Itโs always hard to pick a favorite meme, but the tampon one is pretty awesome.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Coco! I’ve been pretty much sticking to walking, yoga and upper body workouts, which have done a good job of keeping me busy, but I really miss my runs, boot camps and lifting heavy. I’m hoping to get back to running later on this week.
Marcia says
My mind was blown when I grew peppers and witnessed the color changes firsthand. Haha! So glad to hear the retrieval went well! Just trust that things will work out in their own perfect way. <3
kookyrunner says
I’m glad to know that the pepper thing was a shock to many people, lol.
Totally agree with you that things will work out in right way – I just get impatient waiting lol.
Michelle says
I’m so happy that Wednesday went so well for you – both for work and egg retrieval. What a stressful day!
I hope you continue to feel good as you ease back into your regular workout schedule. Such a bummer about OTF changing things up so much – seems odd that they would give up the 45 minute-classes .
Great memes as always – and I also have to weigh in to say my mind is blown over the peppers LOL
kookyrunner says
Wednesday was a super stressful day, but also a great day as well ๐
I’m still confused on OTF, and they also got rid of all the Lift45 classes. I just don’t know what their reasoning behind it was.
Darlene Cardillo says
That is so exciting and I am glad that it went well. I know another running blogger who just did the same (50by25).
I guess online dating is the way to go… but still..
My stepson met a great girl online. So t’s possible. Fingers crossed. You are a catch!!
I love those memes!! Peppers?!
kookyrunner says
Online dating is the main way people meet now but it just hasn’t worked for me yet.
It seems like everyone is very surprised bout the peppers meme, lol.
Wendy says
I learned about the pepper thing JUST LAST NIGHT!
And, I won’t worry too much about the 40 thing…..I think technology has come a long way. One of my running BFFs had her 1st at 41 and 2nd at 44. I don’t it’s not totally common, but technology and knowledge about the human body is always changing.
kookyrunner says
Oh wow, that’s great to know about your friend! I do know that women are having children later in life so that gives me hope.
Liz Dexter says
Oh that peppers one – I literally educated my husband on that when I met him (we were both 30) and had to show him some that were halfway turned in the supermarket before he believed me!!!
And well done on the egg freezing, that’s some hard crap to go through alone. I went through a round of IVF a good few years ago and I did not think I’d manage those injections, so massive kudos to all who’ve done that (esp when you have the two to do per day and the triggering one). And when I was growing the eggs I felt gross, I have to say. I’m actually glad for you that you’re done for now and don’t have to push on with the next bit, but can have a rest, and know you froze a nice batch. Take care of yourself and well done!!
kookyrunner says
I am so shocked that I never knew that about the peppers. This is going to be my “fun fact” to share on my team call later on this week, lol.
Other than feeling pretty bloated, I was glad that I didn’t have any mood swings. I will say that i used my heating pad almost every night to ease the “fullness” feeling from the bloating.
San says
I am glad the procedure (and the launch of your report) went well… what a day! Now you can hopefully relax and recover from both parts!
Congrats on also reaching 15k+ workout minutes and getting an apparel gift from Peloton. I did too and I thought that was a nice gesture!
kookyrunner says
It was such a crazy day, but everything turned out well! I am taking next week off work to relax – my brain needs it more than my body lol.
That was such a great gesture from Peloton – I hope they do it again this year.
Shathiso says
So happy the egg-retrieval process went well! It’s always the case isn’t it – big events happening on the same day!!
