Happy Sunday! I hope that everyone had a great week and enjoyed the first few days of October.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, September 28
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (45 minutes)
Peloton Keith Urban Ride 9/25/20 – Hannah C. (30 minutes)
Peloton Barre Warm Up 9/21/20 – Ally (5 minutes)
Peloton Intro to Barre 9/21/20 – Hannah C. (10 minutes)
My body was waving a white flag at me after these workouts. I think the combo of the Dri Tri and an OTF class on Sunday was a little too much. I wasn’t planning on trying the Barre classes this week, but Peloton released a ‘Raise the Barre’ badge for taking 6 barre classes this week so of course I had to participate. Y’all know I love the Peloton badges!
Tuesday, September 29
Peloton JLO Core Strength 9/29/20 – Robin (10 minutes)
Peloton FTP Test Ride 1/30/20 – Matt (20 minutes)
Peloton Walk + Run 4/9/20 – Jess (30 minutes)
Peloton Barre 9/21/20 – Ally (10 minutes)
Peloton Barre Cool Down 9/21/20 – Hannah C. (5 minutes)
I finished up the Power Zones training program with another FTP test. These rides are HARD because you’re basically going all out from start to finish for 20 minutes. My FTP did increase by 15 points from when I first did the class 4 weeks ago, so I think that’s good? I have no clue how amny points people usually improve between tests.
I didn’t watch the presidential debate because I didn’t want to be super pissed off before going to bed. I don’t sleep that well as it is so I don’t need to be riled up before bed. I caught some highlights and it confirmed to me that I made the right decision. My goodness – what an absolute sh*tshow.
Wednesday, September 30
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (45 minutes)
Peloton Barre Warm Up 9/21/20 – Ally (5 minutes)
Peloton Intro to Barre 9/21/20 – Hannah C. (10 minutes)
Peloton J Balvin Ride 9/21/20 – Erik (30 minutes)
Peloton Groove Ride 7/19/20 – Cody (15 minutes)
Peloton Cool Down Ride 9/10/20 – Sam (10 minutes)
OTF was good and it was also the day for the 500 meter benchmark row. I was hoping to complete it in under 1:40 but I went out too fast and had to slow down at the end. I’m still happy I got a PR though, especially because I did it with a mask on! I was also super close to logging 200 cycle miles for September so I hopped on the bike for a few classes to hit that goal.
Thursday, October 1
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (45 minutes)
Peloton XOXO, Cody Ride 9/17/20 – Cody (30 minutes)
Happy October! I was happy to kick off the month with an OTF class and a fun ride with Cody.
Friday, October 2
Peloton Advanced Full Body Bootcamp 9/26/20 – Jess (60 minutes)
I missed taking this class live due to the Dri Tri last week. I love Jess Sims but these advanced boot camps take everything I have. I was in a puddle of sweat when the class was over and I just sat on the floor for a good 5 minutes after to recover, lol.
Saturday, October 3
Peloton Hip Hop Bootcamp – Jess (30 minutes)
Peloton Hip Hop Bootcamp 10/3/20 – Jess (60 minutes)
Both bootcamp classes were really good and the playlist for the 60 minute class resulted in a few unexpected dance breaks, lol. Also I finally hit the 50th bootcamp class milestone which was nice as I got a few virtual high fives during class and I hit 1,000 total classes. If I had to guess, more than half of those were taken this year. Peloton has been a huge help in saving my sanity since March!
Sunday, October 4
Orangetheory Fitness – Power (45 minutes)
Peloton Basics: Cat & Cow 12/13/18 – Aditi (5 minutes)
Peloton Yoga Flow 1/31/19 – Aditi (10 minutes)
The treadmill block during class was super tough today (lots of inclines). Originally I had planned on getting in a short run after class but decided to forget that since my legs were feeling pretty beat from bootcamp yesterday and the inclines today. Instead I decided to start the 2 week Welcome to Peloton Yoga program.
Total Weekly Mileage: 11 miles
Summary: 8 runs*, 6 cycle, 3 bootcamp, and 5 OTF/strength/HITT classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 147/148
Grade This Week ā A
Over the weekend I signed up for another virtual race – Pro Compression Fall Classic. You can pick from four different distances (1 Mile, 5K, 10K or half marathon) and you get a pair of Pro Compression marathon socks and t-shirt with your registration. If you’re interested in signing up, use code PC10 to save $10 off registration.
On Wednesday I found out that my office location in Stamford will be closed (our offices in Boston and Hoboken are also closing) so therefore all employees at these locations will work remotely 100% of the time. Am I surprised? Not really – our office was small (less than 100 people), and we’ve all been working from home since mid-March, so from a cost cutting perspective, this makes sense. Am I in love with the decision? Not really. While I love the flexibility of working from home, I never thought it would be permanent and I do miss being in an office setting. I can’t express how tired I am of staring at a wall while working all day. On the other hand, COVID-19 is still here so I’m glad that I can work from home and continue to stay safe as much as possible. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that there are no new major announcements this upcoming week – the last two weeks have been a lot.
Okay, enough of being a Debbie Downer. I always like to end a blog post on a positive note so I’m happy to share that I will continue to be a BibRave Pro in 2021. This will be my third year with the program. I really like being a part of the BibRave community and hopefully I can take part in some in-person races once those are available next year (fingers crossed).
…and now for this week’s memes š
That’s it! I hope you had a great week š
Iām linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

oh wow you did 2 back to back bootcamps yesterday!! You are fierce! I tired a few barre classes I am so not cut out for them at all. Another week of crushing it on the workouts. Thanks for the memes
kookyrunner says
The 30 minute bootcamps aren’t too bad so that’s the only reason I could do two, lol. I did the barre classes for the badge but they are not my thing at all.
Wendy says
Great week of workouts! I’m sorry to hear about being permanently a WFH person. I couldn’t do it. I love seeing my patients. It was hard for me when I was working from home!
kookyrunner says
I totally understand what you mean – I feel so disconnected sometimes.
Wendy says
PS Thank you for the card! So thoughtful!
kookyrunner says
Awwe, you’re welcome! š
Marcia says
Seriously I wish I could unsee the debates. What a colossal waste of time. Children heck animals would’ve done a better job. Props to you for doing multiple FTP tests. I did those while tri training and they were brutal.
kookyrunner says
I feel toddlers would have done a better job at that debate – what a complete embarrassment. No wonder other countries laugh at us.
I never want to do another FTP test again.
Jenn says
I always look forward to your memes! Some are so funny!
The debate was indeed a Sh*tshow. I was so sad and angry at all the nonsense. When will it stop?
I’m sorry about your office closing. I get the mixed feelings. Everything is just so hard.
kookyrunner says
I think that memes have been the main things keeping me laughing lately, lol.
Yup – total mixed feelings about the office closure. I still haven’t really processed it to be honest.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
So sorry about your office being closed, but I guess the silver lining is you still have your job.
Congrats on coming back as a Bibrave Ambassador! Good luck with your Pro Compression challenge!
I didn’t watch the debate. It started at my bedtime & yeah, of course I saw the highlights the next day.
I saw 2 memes I liked this week: one said I’m not buying a 2021 planner until I see the trailer.
The other I was talking with Mr. Judy about how you know 45 is going to blame someone for COVID. He found this meme: Obama shaking his head, saying something like how is it my fault?
kookyrunner says
The highlights from the debate were all I needed to see. What a mess and an embarrassment.
I saw both of those memes, LOL. I actually purchased a 2021 planner but now I’m like, was that a good idea?? LOL
Coco says
Sorry to hear about your office. Our firm insists we will NOT be a virtual firm, but I think we will lose people if we arenāt more flexible about letting people WFH more once we are able to be back in the office. On the other hand, youāre right, there is a level of tedium about being home ALL the time.
I did watch the so-called debate. Thanks for the hotline number. š
kookyrunner says
I agree with you – companies are going to have to be a little more flexible with allowing employees to work from home, even if it’s just one day a week. They can no longer use the excuse that employees won’t be productive at home since 2020 has proven that to be false.
LoL at “so-called debate” – that’s the perfect way to put it.
Cari says
thank you for the memes, I need these laughs
Sorry about the permanent WFH news. Can you reconfigure your space at all so you’re not looking at a wall? I had the same issue early on and needed to change it up.
Way to go on the workouts and milestone
kookyrunner says
Always happy to provide funny memes š
My WFH is in my bedroom since I live with my family. Where I have my set up now is the best spot in my room. I’m think of getting a funky print that i can hang on the wall to at least add a little pizazz to the area.
Cari says
A funky print sounds like a great idea.
Shifting my desk had the accidental upside of creating an office nook that I don’t have to look at if I sit on my chair and watch (bad) football or do yoga.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
You were so smart to skip the debate – I knew going in that it wasn’t going to be pretty but was not prepared for the dumpster fire it was!
I’m sorry to hear about your office and the permanent WFH situation. I have a feeling a number of companies are going to doing the same. š
Congrats on hitting 1,000 classes!
kookyrunner says
Anyone that I know that watched the debate said they only got through it with a glass of wine or a martini – it was that bad.
I know that you have done WFH for a while so I may contact you for tips because I need to find a way to make this work permanently.
Zenaida Arroyo says
I had Open House that night and had no desire to watch the debate. I am glad I did not miss anything.
Bummer about your office closing and I can understand you want to be safe but I can also understand you being tired of working from home. I am also tired of it and like the change to go to my classroom.
Congrats on your 1,000th class! That is a great milestone!
Also, congrats on being a Pro again. I did not renew because I knew I would not be able to give it the time and attention that it deserves.
kookyrunner says
Based on how the first debate went, I think I’ll continue with not watching them and just watching the highlights the next day.
Once it’s safe to do so next year, I might go to a coffee shop to work one day a week. I know I’ll need a change of scenery at some point.
Jessie says
Oh wow, permanent WFH! Will you still go into the NYC office occasionally (post-pandemic?) That’s a big change…
Awesome week of workouts and I love those pro compression socks. Fun!
kookyrunner says
They are also reducing the number of floors we have in the NYC office so I probably won’t go there either (since we will have to reserve a desk in advance) š I usually don’t mind change but the past few weeks have been a lot!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
That’s crazy that you will be working remotely permanently! While I think it would be nice, I think I would really miss seeing people in person at least sometimes. Hopefully once COVID is better maybe you can at least go to a coffee shop or something to work. But yes, at least now you can stay safe at home. Great job with your workouts this week!
kookyrunner says
Yeah, I think once Covid is over, I will probably try to go to a coffee shop once a week to work. I will definitely need a change of scenery at some point!
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
I’m the opposite on WFH, it’s just so much less stressful so I’m soaking it up. But at the same time I’d be happy to give it up in exchange for the pandemic being over. Hopefully your employer is done with surprises for the year, that’s never fun.
Congrats on all of the awesome workouts and good luck on your races!
kookyrunner says
My workload increased by a lot since WFH so I don’t feel like I can ever get balance with anything, if that makes any sense? I know that it will turn a corner eventually, just waiting for that day to come lol.
Kimberly Hatting says
Wow, 1,000 classes!!!! YOU are a beast (in the nicest way possible). Sorry to hear about the WFH announcement. I cannot imagine that kind of a set-up. The debate was a nightmare. I’m in for BibRave for 2021 as well…forgot to mention that in my WRD. OOPS.
kookyrunner says
Congrats on BibRave for 2021 – hopefully we can actually do in-person races at some point next year (fingers crossed).
Liz Dexter says
So much work – you’re a machine!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Liz!
Laurie says
Wow! So many OTF and Peloton classes. You are a beast (and I mean that in the nicest possible way). Your fitness level must be through the roof. Sorry about the announcement from your work. I would feel safer working from home too, but I would probably miss the social interaction from working at an actual office. Good luck!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Laurie! I feel like my endurance has gotten better over the past few months, but my food choices really haven’t been the best lately!
Melissa K Carney says
Oh noooo I’m so sorry to hear about your job. As much as I have been enjoying so many things about the WFH lifestyle, there are parts that I would miss about being in-person (but not righ t now). What a great week of workouts!! Glad you got them in (and no -i refuse to talk about the debates…).
kookyrunner says
I never thought that my WFH would be permanent so I’m slowly trying to wrap my head around it, but I do miss the in-office interaction. I do a lot of video calls but it’s just not the same.
