Happy Sunday! Am I the only one that thinks it doesn’t feel like a long weekend? I have to keep reminding myself that tomorrow is Labor Day.
Monday, August 30
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (45 minutes)
Hills Run 4/9/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
HIIT Ride 3/4/20 – Sam (30 minutes)
Core Strength 8/10/20 – Matty (10 minutes)
My arms felt like jelly at the end of the OTF class and were pretty much useless the rest of the day, lol. I love Matty but I’m glad that the Summer Crunch challenge is coming to an end this week – I need a little more variety when it comes to the strength instructors, especially when it comes to core workouts.
Tuesday, August 31
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance (45 minutes)
Core Strength 2/28/20 – Matty (10 minutes)
Classic Rock Ride: Live From Home 5/3/20 – Ben (30 minutes)
Fastest Mile 7/23/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
Flow & Let Go: Live From Home 5/3/20 – Aditi (45 minutes)
We had a Covid-safe (not using the same equipment as your partner) partner workout at OTF which was pretty fun. I know many members don’t care for partner workouts but my partner is always my mom so it’s not awkward or anything. I liked the Fastest Mile workout because it had a very long warm-up, which my legs appreciated! I can’t put into words how good the Flow & Let Go class felt since I was so sore and tight.
Wednesday, September 1
Core Strength 5/20/21 – Matty (10 minutes)
Chest & Back Strength 8/15/19 – Jess (30 minutes)
Pre Run Warm Up 8/30/21 – Kirsten (5 minutes)
Premiere Run 8/30/21 – Kirsten (20 minutes)
Premiere Run 8/31/21 – Daniel (20 minutes)
Premiere Run 9/1/21 – Marcel (20 minutes)
Post Run Stretch 8/30/21 – Kirsten (5 minutes)
And just like that, we’re in a new month. I feel like August went by so fast. I absolutely loves this stack of workouts. I slept in on Wednesday since I knew I would be working out in the evening as I wanted to take Marcel’s class at 7:30pm. Peloton hired 3 new treadmill coaches last week and they all had their premiere runs this week. I really like all of them – they are all different but I vibe with each one. I’m happy that they have joined the Peloton team.
Thursday, September 2
Core Strength 7/18/21 – Matty (10 minutes)
Verzuz Ride 9/1/21 – Kendall (30 minutes)
Arms & Light Weights 7/23/21 – Cliff (10 minutes)
Verzuz Run 8/31/21 – Chase (30 minutes)
Glues & Legs Strength 10/22/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
Post Run Stretch 8/31/21 – Daniel (5 minutes)
Power Yoga 4/30/21 – Kristen (30 minutes)
The Verzuz classes were SO good! The Verzuz classes always featured songs from two artists and these classes focused on E-40 vs Too $hort. The playlists were awesome and it was just what I needed to start off my day since I had nothing but meetings all day for work. I think many people were planning to take off on Friday due to the long weekend so my Thursday was full of nothing but calls and meetings. The only plus side was that my work calendar was totally free on Friday, and that NEVER happens.
Friday, September 3
Orangetheory Fitness – DriTri Prep Workout (60 minutes)
Core Strength 10/16/20 – Matty (10 minutes)
BHM: Power Endurance Ride 2/6/21 – Matt (30 minutes)
Arms & Shoulders Strength 9/30/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
The workout for OTF was the DriTri prep class and it was a doozy! It was just a non-stop sweatfest. It’s always hard, but it gives a good representation of what you will feel like during the actual DriTri. Of course I signed up for the DriTri after class because I must enjoy pushing myself to the limit every 6 months, lol.
Matt’s BHM ride was SO good! I often forget that he’s from Georgia and knows a lot of Hip Hop music. The arms & shoulders class was a nice 10 minute burner – my arms were on fire!
I also got a high five from Matty when I was doing the last core class for his Summer challenge. It was my first time getting a high five from an instructor.
Saturday, September 4
Spotify We Everywhere Ride 2/15/21 – Hannah F (30 minutes)
Bootcamp Warm Up 8/31/21 – Daniel (5 minutes)
Run + Core Bootcamp 5/13/19 – Jess (45 minutes)
90s Bootcamp 6/13/19 – Jess (30 minutes)
Post-Run Stretch 9/1/21 – Marcel (5 minutes)
I’ve been meaning to take the Spotify ride for a while and it did not disappoint. I just love Hannah’s energy! There was no live #Saturday60 this week so I decided to tackle two bootcamps that I haven’t done yet. It’s always interesting to take older classes, especially bootcamp, because the format is different (longer bursts of running).
Sunday, September 5
Monterey Peninsula Scenic Run (20 minutes)
HIIT Cardio: Live From Home 5/5/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
Tabata Ride 3/3/20 – Leanne (45 minutes)
Pop Ride 5/1/20 – Erik (20 minutes)
Post-Ride Stretch 3/5/21 – Cliff (10 minutes)
Focus Flow: Core 5/2/21 – Kristen (30 minutes)
My knee felt a little sore after yesterday’s classes, so I opted to do a power walk instead of a run for the scenic class. As always, Leanne provided a bunch of positive energy for her ride, which was much appreciated! I’ll take the yoga class later on this afternoon to get in a good stretch.
Total Weekly Mileage: 17.3 miles
Summary: 9 runs*, 7 cycle, 2 bootcamps, 3 yoga and 13 OTF/strength/HIIT classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 388/391
This week was all about the insane weather. On Wednesday we received the “leftovers” from Hurricane Ida which resulted in 7 inches of rain in my city in only 6 hours.
Between the rain and wind, it was pretty bad. Luckily we didn’t have any flooding or house damage but I know many people that were not so lucky – either their basements flooded or the streets near their homes were flooded so they couldn’t leave their homes the next day. Around 10:45pm we got another tornado warning on our phones and we hurried down to the basement and stayed their for about 30 minutes until the warning passed.
The past 2 weeks have been crazy in terms of weather. Sure, we usually get bad snowstorms and blizzards in Connecticut, which we are equipped to deal with, but hurricanes and tornados? Nope, not our level of expertise! Hopefully this is it for a while with the extreme weather.
…and now for this week’s memes
That’s it! I hope you had a great week š
Iām linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I know what you mean about it not feeling like a long weekend – it will be nice to have tomorrow off though!
How fun to get a high-five from Matty! I do love him, but I struggled to stick with his core classes the final week of the challenge – I blame Peloton…too many other options LOL
That tornado warning must have been so scary! So glad you all were safe and had no damage.
kookyrunner says
I agree – I just need more variety when it comes to the core classes. But the good thing is that I’ve now completed all of his 10 min core classes.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
How tall are you Kim? That last meme made me LOL for sure, I’m 5’1″ and have been known to climb on grocery shelves to get stuff.
Good luck with the dritri!
Ida had thankfully petered out for the most part by the time she got up here. We were just discussing with friends/neighbors about how we are low on the tornado/earthquake/hurricane pole. Now to find another state that is the same with more sun!
kookyrunner says
I am around 5’2″ so we’re pretty much the same height. My mom is shorter than me so when we go shopping its pretty comical, lol.
I’m glad that you didn’t feel the effects of Ida where you live – it was such a nasty storm!
Jenny says
Ha ha… that sheet meme reminds me of myself making up my son’s bed at college- I also had to put on a bedskirt and I looked just like that woman.
Sounds like you had an awesome week as usual! Well, except for the flood and tornadoes. So crazy. Glad you and your house did okay in all that mess.
Kimberly Hatting says
Ha ha ha!!! Iām one of those tall people…I can easily reach things, but itās really awkward wearing heels & not biffing the doorway. I love the variety of all your workouts…you definitely keep your muscles guessing š
kookyrunner says
Haha yes that’s one way to put it, my muscles often try to guess why I hate them, lol.
Wendy says
I missed the CrossFit triathlon this year and I was so bummed! But I will do it next year! Or maybe I should just do it once I can run again. Good luck with the Dri-Tri! And yes, I do not like partner workouts unless it’s with Steph.
I didn’t expect you to share the tomato meme–everyone told me they found it terrifying, lol. Made me lol but I guess you know I have a weird sense of humor!
kookyrunner says
LOL I found the tomato meme scary and hysterical so we have the same sense of humor!
Coco says
OK, I did get carded last night ā¦ but then the guy said āwe card everyoneā. ;-p
Wow on stacking the three tread premiere classes – how was Daniel? Did you need subtitles! Cool on Mattyās high-five!
I liked OTF partner workouts ā I found it extra motivating to try to do well for someone else.
kookyrunner says
I didn’t need subtitles for Daniel! Surprisingly I was able to understand about 90% of what he said, lol.
Marcia says
I am reminding myself about the long weekend as well. Does not feel festive in the least. Sorry you got some IDA fallout. So scary. I feel a tad guilty the weather has been gorgeous here.
kookyrunner says
I’m hoping that Ida will be the last of the crazy weather here for a while!
Deborah Brooks says
I am so glad you did not have any damage that was one crazy storm! LOL on getting carded. My daughter is what she likes to call “fun size” so we joke about this all the time. Jealous you got a high five from Matty!
kookyrunner says
LoL I love the term “fun size” š Also I hate wearing heels so I am never really “taller” so I’m just learn to be very creative if I need to reach something.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I’ve also needed to remind myself that we’re off tomorrow! But I think thats a good problem. Thinking about the things I enjoyed doing when I was 16 and 26 makes me shake my head now. I definitely wouldn’t want to be at a crowded house party or loud bar!
kookyrunner says
When I think of some of the stuff I did in college I often wonder how I’m still alive, lol.
Black Knight says
Here, in Italy, Labour Day is May 1st. However as I am retired for me everyday is ….. Labor Day!
Glad you didn’t have damages because of the storm.
About the tomato meme …. holy water!!!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! We were lucky to be spared a lot of damages from the storms.
Angie says
First– I feel attacked by that last meme. LOL. At 6’1″, I am that tall person. But also it never fails that someone asks me if I can reach for something up high for them. š And second, that tomato memes– I felt the need to do the cross sign. For real.
kookyrunner says
You would be the person I would ask for help if climbing the shelves or using a stick to knock down the product didn’t work, lol.
Jessie says
Whoah, crazy weather. I’m glad you/ your house were okay! Insane…
What are the premier classes? I’m such a Peloton newbie! I mostly stick to the core and strength for runners. Any favorites of those?
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jessie! I am done with the extreme weather for a while. The premiere classes are just the first classes taught by new instructors.
Most of the strength for runners classes are great – Becs and Matt are both great runners and so knowledgeable.
Liz Dexter says
I’m just in awe, still, again, always at your workouts!
Do love that last meme. That’s me! I had a friend over on Friday and she had to get her own teabags down as they’re the ones my husband likes and on the top shelf …
kookyrunner says
Thanks Liz!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
You had a great week of workouts! You must love it when you can try out new workouts from new instructors.
The bulk of the rain hit just northeast of us so we didn’t have flooding on this side of DC. The weather app radar map showed it coming so close, but just skirted around us. We got lucky and it sounds like your family did, too, considering how much rain you got!
Oh my, that tomato is freaky! LOL
kookyrunner says
yup, I love trying out new instructors because it’s interesting to see their coaching styles.
So glad that the bulk of the storm last week missed you!
Jenn says
I’m glad you were safe with the storm coming through. Hurricanes and their side effects are scary for those of us who are used to them and prepared for them. I can’t imagine how it feels to have one heading at you out of nowhere.
Yay for that high-five from Matty! So cool!
I can’t believe it’s September. The year was dragging and now it’s on fast forward.
kookyrunner says
I agree that now it feels like the rest of the year is going to fly by. I also can’t believe that I’ve already seen some posts online about Christmas items!
Darlene S. Cardillo says
Yes that was the shortest three day weekend.
Iām 5 4 but still have climb to reach things in the supermarket.
Love the idea of a dry Tri. Good luck.
You are so inspiring with all your workouts. I need to step it up.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Darlene!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
That is crazy weather you have been getting! I’m glad you were safe. That’s cool your mom is your partner at OTF. When I go on group rides we ride in two lines (double) so I always end up with a partner. I’ve had some who are great conversationalist, and others who are challenging to talk to. I always try to get paired up with a chatty person! Makes the rides so much better.
kookyrunner says
It’s so hard when a partner doesn’t like to hold a conversation. I always find that talking through the workout makes it go by faster!
