Happy Sunday! I hope that everyone had a good week. If you have Monday off for Labor Day I hope that you’re enjoying the long weekend as well.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, August 31
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (45 minutes)
Peloton Hip Hop Fun Run 1/29/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
Peloton Billy Joel Yoga Flow 11/17/19 – Kristin (45 minutes)
I really like the ESP classes because as my coach states “it offers a buffet of options”. I did a quick run once I got home to finish up my mileage goal for August š
Tuesday, September 1
Peloton Power Zone Beginner Ride 1/30/20 – Matt (20 minutes)
Peloton Low Impact Ride 1/30/20 – Matt (15 minutes)
Peloton Spotify Housewerk Run 7/28/20 – Matty (30 minutes)
I love the start of a brand new month. Today I started the 4-week Power Zones Training program. I eased my way into the program with two short rides and then followed that up with a 30 minute run. This month will focus more on cycling than running, but I still want to log at least 50 miles of running this month.
Also, Kim and I decided to virtually ride together – she was outdoors and I was indoors. Nice to have fun with workouts when you can!
Wednesday, September 2
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (45 minutes)
Peloton Spotify Housewerk Ride 7/28/20 – Jess K (30 minutes)
I had some technical difficulties with my heart rate monitor on the treadmill (didn’t record all my mileage) and rower (wouldn’t connect so I had no data), but other than that it was a good strength workout. I feel like every class I’ve done recently has goblet squats so I’m kinda over those now, lol. Followed up classe with a 30 minute ride. I’ll admit house music isn’t my favorite but I wanted to try something new.
Thursday, September 3
Peloton FTP Warm Up Ride 12/18/19 – Denis (10 minutes)
Peloton FTP Test Ride 12/4/19 – Denis (20 minutes)
Peloton Power Hour with Deadmau5 Run 8/31/20 – Olivia (30 minutes)
Okay…so this FTP Test Ride almost killed me. I really underestimated how hard it would be and my legs were aching once it was over. The 20 minutes literally felt like an hour.
Friday, September 4
Peloton Hip Hop Walk 8/27/20 – Adrian (20 minutes)
Peloton Power Zone Endurance Ride 1/30/20 – Olivia (30 minutes)
Peloton Power Hour with Deadmau5 Ride 8/30/20 – Kendall (30 minutes)
No running today, but I warmed up my legs by doing a quick walk before hitting the bike for an hour of work. The PZ Endurance Ride wasn’t too bad but I still don’t feel like I have a great grasp on the different zones and the benefits of working out in each zone. I’m hoping it will make sense to me the more I do it!
Saturday, September 5
Peloton Sean Paul Ride 9/2/20 – Hannah F (30 minutes)
Peloton Sean Paul Core Strength 9/3/20 – Selena (20 minutes)
Peloton Sean Paul Bootcamp 9/5/20 – Jess (60 minutes)
Sunday, September 6
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (45 minutes)
Peloton Power Zone Endurance Ride 1/30/20 – Christine (30 minutes)
Today’s OTF class was great. It was hard but I felt strong during each block. Hopefully I will feel just as good at the end of this month when I tackle the Dri Tri. My studio is doing it outdoors this time which should be great, weather permitting. I did my last Power Zone ride of the week after class. I’m not exactly loving the Power Zone program so far. As you know, I’m really big on music as it often pumps me up during a class. The music has not been the best for any of these rides so it makes them drag on and on.
Total Weekly Mileage: 14.1 miles
Summary: 7 runs*, 9 cycle, 1 bootcamp, and 4 OTF/strength/HITT classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 131/131
Grade This Week ā A
Anyone else excited to welcome September? I was happy to see August leave this week and I can’t wait for the official start of Fall in a few weeks.
On Monday I hit my goal of logging 100 miles for the month. I haven’t had a 100 mile month since last September. So basically when I don’t have races to train for, I don’t really push the mileage – not really a shocker, lol. I was glad to hit that goal and I also hit my unofficial goal of taking all of the Peloton Artist Series classes. Peloton releases new Artist Series classes at least once a month so I’ll continue to do them as they pop up.
On Tuesday I signed up for two virtual races. I thought I was done with virtual races, but I couldn’t pass these up. I signed up for the Hartford Marathon 10K. The price was super reasonable ($25) and all the proceeds go to charity.
I also signed up for the SoNo Half Marathon. The idea of running a virtual half marathon isn’t too appealing BUT I couldn’t let 2020 go by without running a half marathon. Also, the price was right ($25) with some proceeds going to charity and the swag is awesome as well. Also the SoNo race is local and I’ve done either the 5K or Half Marathon ever since it started a few years ago so I feel loyal to the race. Both races will be in October.
I also did a few meditation/yoga classes this week. My favorite was a 5 minute chair yoga class. I sit a lot when I’m working, especially now that I’m not in an office setting where I walk to talk to people, so the chair yoga was a nice 5 minute break. I’ve seen a few more 5 minute yoga and meditation classes on the app that I want to try out as well. I just feel that with everything going on, I really need to carve out some time for mental health breaks.
…and now for this week’s meme collection..
That’s it! I hope you had a great week š
Iām linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I like DWTS, but I don’t know who Carole Baskin is at all????
I also don’t push myself when I’m not training for anything. I think it’s wise! Pushing all the time is a recipe for disaster.
How cute to link up with Kim!
Sounds like despite the weather, you had a good August Kim. Fingers crossed for a lovely September!
kookyrunner says
If you watch Tiger King on Netflix (it’s a wild true story) you’ll learn all about Carol Baskin. She is quite the character.
While I miss races, I don’t necessarily miss the training for races, especially the long runs.
Kimberly Hatting says
Nice work last week, and with your August mileage. So youāre focusing on cycling this month, too š The #twinning continues LOL Happy September!!
kookyrunner says
Yup! Switching over from more running miles to more cycle miles, which is A-OK with me, lol.
Wendy says
Congrats on 100 miles in August! It’s amazing–the hottest month of the year, too. Carol Baskin on DWTS? Hilarious. Should be entertaining!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I did do a lot of the miles indoors though lol. I can’t wait to watch DWTS!
Marcia says
Wait Carol Baskin is on DWTS??? Lololol! She may go to jail before killing her husband first!
Great week of activity! You are a machine!
That Hartford price is hard to resist. I’ve always loved their medals…
kookyrunner says
I’ve never done any of the Hartford races, which is ridiculous since I live in CT, but better late than never, lol. I really love the fact that all the proceeds from the race registration go to local charities.
Deborah Brooks says
Carol Baskin too funny! Guess I will have to tune in now.Nothing else to watch anyway. The power zone test was really hard and I am still not sure my zones are right. Congrats on a great month of workouts!
kookyrunner says
How crazy is it that she is on DWTS? It will definitely be a trainwreck.
I agree – I don’t know if my zones are correct and I’m not enjoying the music for the classes either..
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Great job with all your workouts, and congrats on running 100 miles! That’s exciting that you signed up for some virtual races. Can’t beat those prices!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Lisa!
Coco says
Oh, the outdoor dry-tri sounds like a lot of fun. Your post made me think of OTF Hell Week, which makes me start facing the reality that I might miss it this year. š
Awesome that youāve done all the Artist Series classes. Honestly, there is so much great content it pushes me to do more to try more.
Love you and Kim in your Bib Rave gear!
kookyrunner says
I’m looking forward to the outdoor dri-tri too! I think I’ll enjoy the running portion more since it’s outdoors. I didn’t even think about Hell Week until you mentioned it. I really hope that your studio is able to re-open by then – maybe they can offer outdoor classes? A lot of studios are doing that, mine included.
Liz Dexter says
Yet another strong week and I love the high-five! I had so many goes at getting my one with Cari the other week. And yay 100 mile month, too. I’d never had consecutive ones till lockdown, because I’m some kind of weirdo …
kookyrunner says
Thanks Liz! Kim and I liked setting up the high five photo – it was fun š
Zenaida Arroyo says
I like DWTS but have not watched it in years.
I also agree with the music in a class. I’ve enjoyed so many of them because of it and a few I have’t because of it. I loved the Prince Ride but the running one wasn’t that great. You know how I feel about the talking and the instructor talked so much that I was annoyed.
Great job on running 100 miles this month!!!
kookyrunner says
Yeah there was a lot of talking on the Prince run, lol. I had to tune him out after about 10 minutes.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
I can’t wait for fall running and racing. Yep, virtual isn’t my first choice but when that’s all there is I’ll take it. I don’t think I’m capable of NOT signing up for our two big local races so I guess that means I’ll be running at least 2 virtual halfs every year. Part of the fun there is planning your own race course.
kookyrunner says
I’ve never done a virtual half marathon so I’m a little nervous since I haven’t been running long distances this year either. I know I can get through it, but there will be several walk breaks!
Jessie says
Awesome week Kim, and congrats on the mileage goal!
I didn’t realize Dancing with the Stars was still on!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jessie! Yup, DWTS has been on for a long time but I haven’t paid attention to it for at least 5 or 6 years lol.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Kim you really have just crushed it all summer! Awesome job!
That Hartford price is hard to pass up – they always have the best medals! That half is still on my must do list – can’t believe it’s so close (relatively) and I’ve never run it.
Here’s to a great September!
kookyrunner says
I live in CT and have never done any of the Hartford races, lol. It’s crazy! The least I could do is run the virtual race this year to support the organization, especially since all the money goes to charity.
Shathiso says
I love the start of a new month. It always feel like a blank sheet with so many new possibilities and opportunities. Congratulations for that 100 mile month! It’s hard to get that kind of mileage when there is no race on the table. My mileage has dropped the last couple of months so I signed up for a virtual challenge to get to 200km for September (I think that works out to 125 miles). Let’s see how that goes!
Sorry to hear you’re not enjoying the Power Zone classes but music really does affect enjoyment. My husband used to do a lot of spinning classes and he would only have do those that had good music. Otherwise, he was just not for it.
kookyrunner says
Totally agree! I treat the start of a new month as a blank canvas and another opportunity to crunch goals.
Good luck on your virtual challenge this month – I know you’re gonna rock it!
Jenn says
Not going to lie. Billy Joel yoga sounds pretty amazing. My heart belongs to Billy.
You are really owning all of this OTF and Peloton stuff. It’s so inspiring and motivating.
kookyrunner says
That yoga class was really good. I’m not that great at yoga so good music makes the time go by faster lol
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
I haven’t watched DWTS much at all, but yep, I gotta see that one! Good job on the 100 mile month. I have been trying to keep my mileage up a bit, just for the heck of it. Maybe a good race will pop up for me soon!
kookyrunner says
I think it starts soon and I really can’t wait to watch it, lol.
