Happy Sunday! I hope that everyone had a great week. Can we discuss Daylight Savings Time for a minute – why are we still doing this? Granted this is normally my most productive day of the year due to the “extra hour” but it just seems silly to keep doing this twice a year, especially now that it will be dark by 5pm every night.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, October 26
Orangetheory Fitness – The Walking Dead Legs (45 minutes)
We did multiple push pace runs at a 10% incline, which really felt like an all out. Let’s just say I was glad I tackled the treadmill block first. Besides that, just more fast paced rows followed by tons and tons of jump squats and more craziness during the floor block.
Tuesday, October 27
Orangetheory Fitness – Invasion of the Dumbbell Snatches (45 minutes)
What really almost killed me during this class was the 4 minute row for distance, especially doing that after already rowing 1,000 meters and completing the treadmill block. The floor block had dumbbell snatches, squat jacks, pop jacks and froggers. My poor legs π I think this was the hardest workout all week.
Sunday, November 1
Recovery Day – Walk
I definitely needed a recovery day after 8 days in a row of OTF classes. Luckily I was able to get out for a long walk (a little over an hour) before it started raining. This is crazy to admit but I haven’t given myself an active recovery day in months – how insane is that?!? I really didn’t notice until I looked back and my workout log. The weather was great and although my body is still a little sore, I don’t feel fatigued which is great!
Total Weekly Mileage: 6.4 miles
Summary: 6 runs* and 6 OTF/strength/HITT classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 156/166
Grade This Week β A
This week was all about surviving Hell Week so I didn’t really do any intense Peloton workouts (mainly walks and stretches). I can’t wait to get back to my Peloton workouts next week. It felt great to finish out the week and I treated myself with prosecco and pizza for dinner on Saturday night.
While not surprising since COVID cases are on the rise across my state and my city was deemed a ‘red zone‘ on Thursday. We have now rolled back to Phase 2 (we were in phase 3 earlier this month). Unfortunately I think Connecticut is only a few weeks from going back into shutdown just based on this information and the upcoming Halloween/Thanksgiving holidays. New York and New Jersey cases are also increasing so it’s not looking that good for the Tri-State area overall, and because there’s so much travel between the 3 states, it’s just a mess. The only good thing (if there is one) is that I feel more prepared now if we go into another lockdown. What really concerns me is that schools are now seeing huge upticks as well. My mom works at a school so I really hope they can either get that under control or go back to remote learning.
In more uplifting news, I found these cute turkey masks on Etsy so of course I had to order some for the whole family. I really must be stopped from purchasing more masks. I have way too many but these were too cute to pass up.
…and now for this week’s memes π
That’s it! I hope you had a great week π
Iβm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

The OTF workout names are so fun and creative Looks like you really stayed motivated this week. Really nice job on those. Yay to mom too! ok those turkey masks are coming to my Thanksgiving love it!
kookyrunner says
I was definitely motivated by all the fun names for the workouts this week! Those turkey masks are so cute! As soon as I saw them, I knew I needed to buy them lol
Liz Dexter says
Wow, what a lot of work there, good going!
kookyrunner says
thanks Liz!
Marcia says
The human world is most definitely a mess! Congrats on another hell week. I runfess I think I’d be so darn sore if I tried one. And omg you girls worked out in costumes! I saw lots of people in Halloween themed masks and wonder why I didn’t get some. Maybe some holiday ones are in order.
kookyrunner says
Working out in costume isn’t too bad – all depends on the fabric!
You saw the turkey masks and I also got some Christmas masks from Old Navy last week. I figure that masks are going to be part of our reality for a long time so I might as well get festive with it.
Coco says
Congrats on surviving Hell Week! Iβm a little bit jealous until I read the details, LOL! Love the turkey masks β they seem like a fun way to encourage people to wear a mask at any large family gatherings that probably shouldnβt happen but probably will anyway (not referring to your family!).
As a lawyer, I have to go with the first meme β They sure did bury the warnings on 2020 in the fine print, didnβt they?
kookyrunner says
LOL! Yeah the workouts were definitely crazy for Hell Week this year but it gave me something to focus on besides Covid and the election so I’m thankful for that!
I thought the same thing about the turkey masks! We’re not going anywhere so it will just be the four of us, but I mainly got it to wear the week of Thanksgiving for workouts or grocery shopping lol.

As much as I hate that it gets dark so early, as a morning runner, I especially don’t like that it gets light so late! Last week the sun didn’t come up until after 7! I did get that noxgear, so that is definitely going to make my dark early morning runs more fun, right?
I always have the FOMO when you do Hell Week because I want the shirt. Priorities!
I don’t have any holiday themed masks but I sure do have holiday themed faces on my apple watch!
kookyrunner says
So true about the lack of sunlight this past week. We had a ton of rain as well so one morning it was still dark at 7:30!
I have Christmas themed masks too – and I’m sure I’ll be purchasing Valentine’s Day masks as well. Since masks will be around for a while, might as well get festive with it!

I am with you on DST, especially now that I have a kid who is an early riser. Most people get a little extra sleep today but we got an extra hour of crankiness! Great job with all your workouts! Our numbers are going up too. We haven’t even opened public schools in our county and they are working on a plan to do so, but at this rate I just don’t see it happening any time soon.
kookyrunner says
Yeah if the schools aren’t open yet I don’t see them opening up no, especially with the cases rising. Hopefully they can reopen sometime in 2021. Everything is just so crazy right now!

Keep those memes coming! They always make me laugh, and I definitely needed a laugh today.
Congrats on surviving Hell Week! Gotta admit that sounds like hell to me.
We’re on the rise upstate, too, but it’s not as bad as the city. Still definitely worrisome. I decided I’m just letting my hair go, although I feel badly for my hairdresser, I just feel I missed my window of opportunity for my comfort level.
kookyrunner says
I’m glad that the memes could give you a laugh – I know it’s been a very hard week for you π
Totally agree with you on the hair. I have only gone once, back in June, and I don’t see me going back again this year. I’ll just make it work. Besides, it’s not like I leave the house to do anything but workout and go food shopping.
Kimberly Hatting says
Since I’m an early-riser, and usually outside in the early hours, I look forward to the time change. It buys me a few more weeks of “morning daylight” anyways LOL Do you get to preview the Hell Week short, or is it a surprise when you receive it? Gotta say, those workout classes have the BEST names!!!
kookyrunner says
We get to preview the Hell Week shirts. They didn’t put a mask on it, which I think was a missed opportunity, but I still love the shirt!
Cari says
I’m not sure who rocked it more – your shirts or the workout names. Awesome and nicely done! Those memes are so good, especially the orange man. Hadn’t seen that one yet
Stay safe – and I hope your mom’s school has some strict protocols. NY changing the quarantine was a given with NJ/CT flaring, but it’s going to be a hard fall
*HUGS*
kookyrunner says
Thanks Cari! I totally agree – it’s gonna be a very hard Fall, especially with Thanksgiving coming up. I think people are still going to travel and attend large gatherings which will further inflate the numbers π
Darlene says
Congrats on surviving hell week. And it did look like hello
8 days! I think Iβd due after one.
The cases are in the ruse here too. Iβm trying g not to go crazy with fear.
I do have live zooms each week so I canβt look too unkept. I do feel safe at my hair and nail salons. Iβve been the only one there.
kookyrunner says
8 days was a bit much for Hell Week – I probably won’t do that again, lol.
Zenaida Arroyo says
You seriously have the BEST shirts! I laughed at the one that says “OMG, I am like literally dead”. I am still laughing about it.
Yeah, I don’t understand nor like the time change. I noticed how dark it was and thought it was late already. Nope it was 5:15pm.
I did not know your mom works at a school.
Now I want some fun masks!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I got that one from Party City. I hate that it’s now dark here at 5:15 – it’s so depressing π
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Awesome job making it through Hell Week! OTF really outdid themselves with the creative workout names. And your shirts were on point as always LOL!
I really don’t see the point of the time change either – while I love a little more early morning daylight, I really dislike that it’s now dark by 5 π
Numbers are rising here too…sigh.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! Hell Week was crazy this year but it felt good to have something to look forward to during the week. Each day was something new.
It’s now dark here around 5:15 and that’s so depressing to me – ugh!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
You killed it! You’ve been so consistent with Peloton and OTF, great job!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Well done, you survived!! Sounds like you crushed it actually π The workouts have such great names and I love the shirts too. What fun!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Lisa!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Good job on all of your Hell Week workouts! I love your t-shirt with the mask that’s pictured after your Wednesday workout description.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I got it from Amazon.
