Happy Sunday! Does anyone feel like this month should be over already? Between the rise in Covid cases and all of the celebrity deaths, this month has felt pretty heavy. I hope that last week of the month will be uneventful – I’m kind of over the “unprecedented times”.
Here’s a recap of my week in workouts:
Monday, January 17
Pre-Run Warm Up 7/3/19 – Matty (5 minutes)
Advanced Intervals Run 5/20/19 – Jess (45 minutes)
Top 50 of 2021 Ride: #20-11 12/29/21 – Emma (30 minutes)
Top 50 of 2021 Ride: #10-1 12/30/21 – Kendall (30 minutes)
Post-Run Stretch 12/6/21 – Tobias (10 minutes)
I was able do a few low impact workouts on Sunday after my back loosened up a bit. When I woke up on Monday, my back felt a lot better so I was able to run and decided to dig into the archives and take an intervals class with Jess from 2019. I also finished up the Top 50 of 2021 classes.
Tuesday, January 18
Warm Up Walk 7/19/21 – Becs (10 minutes)
Amy Winehouse Run 1/12/22 – Becs (30 minutes)
Amy Winehouse Full Body Strength 1/12/22 – Matty (20 minutes)
Amy Winehouse Ride 1/12/22 – Hannah F (30 minutes)
Fit Family Strong HIIT Cardio 12/14/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
Amy Winehouse Yoga Flow 1/12/22 – Aditi (30 minutes)
I always enjoyed Amy Winehouse’s music and thought she was super talented, so I was happy when Peloton announced her artist series classes. I thought that all of the classes were good – the instructors did a great job at balancing the music and their talking.
Wednesday, January 19
Warm Up Run 9/15/21 – Jermaine (10 minutes)
BHM: Live DJ Run 2/26/21 – Adrian (30 minutes)
Advanced Chest & Back Strength 8/29/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
Bodyweight Strength 7/7/20 – Jess (10 minutes)
Amy Winehouse Ride 1/12/22 – Mayla (30 minutes)
BHM: Broadway Ride 2/7/21 – Ally (20 minutes)
I always enjoy the Live DJ runs because Adrian and DJ John Michael have great banter and it makes the class go by quickly. I don’t know which class was worse – the advanced chest & back strength or the bodyweight strength class. The chest and back class felt hard because of my weight selection but the bodyweight class was non-stop and packed a lot of movement into 10 minutes.
Thursday, January 20
Power Walk 1/4/22 – Jess (20 minutes)
David Bowie Walk + Run 1/19/22 – Susie (30 minutes)
David Bowie Upper Body Strength 1/19/22 – Ben (20 minutes)
David Bowie Ride 1/19/22 – Jess K (30 minutes)
David Bowie Yoga Flow 1/19/22 – Denis (30 minutes)
It felt good to start off the morning with a nice power walk. Unfortunately I didn’t really care for the walk + run class. Usually it’s a 1:1 or 2:1 run/walk ratio in those classes but she didn’t follow that structure so the class had a little too much walking for me. I ended up doing my own intervals during the class. Thankfully the playlist was great! That class ended up being my 150th walk. I didn’t take the class live, so no shoutout, but it was nice to check off another Peloton milestone early in the year. Absolutely loved Ben’s upper body strength class – great circuits and it wasn’t too repetitive. I also surprisingly enjoyed the ride as well.
Friday, January 21
David Bowie Ride 1/19/22 – Cliff (20 minutes)
David Bowie Low Impact Ride 1/19/22 – Leanne (10 minutes)
Glutes & Legs Strength 9/16/19 – Jess (30 minutes)
Warm Up Run 2/23/21 – Selena (5 minutes)
David Bowie Run 1/19/22 – Selena (30 minutes)
David Bowie Yoga Flow 1/19/22 – Nico (20 minutes)
I had a rough night of sleep so I needed to sleep in a little bit in order to function for work. I split up my workout and did the cycle and strength classes in before work and the run and yoga after work. I dug into the archives for the glutes & legs class and I’m glad I did because it was really good! Lots of unilateral exercises which I loved.
Saturday, January 22
Pop Ride 1/11/22 – Cody (30 minutes)
Bootcamp Warm Up 10/6/21 – Adrian (10 minutes)
Saturday60: 2010s Bootcamp 1/22/22 – Jess (60 minutes)
David Bowie Full Body Stretch 1/19/22 – Ben (10 minutes)
Cody dubbed this ride “The Hoe Anthem” ride because of the playlist. I’ll admit, I probably did more laughing and dancing than riding, but it was just such a fun ride. Followed that up with the best part of Saturday – Jess’s tread bootcamp. Also, another great full body stretch with Ben. I really enjoy all of his stretching classes.
Sunday, January 23
Warm Up Ride 1/20/22 – Cliff (5 minutes)
BHM Celebration Ride 2/15/21 – Alex (30 minutes)
BHM: 90s Ride 2/18/21 – Emma (30 minutes)
BHM: Fresh Friday Ride 2/19/21 – Denis (30 minutes)
BHM: House Ride 2/20/21 – Jess K (30 minutes)
BHM Celebration Ride 2/23/21 – Cody (30 minutes)
Post-Ride Stretch 11/16/19 – Hannah C (10 minutes)
I completed my first PeloFondo! This wasn’t exactly planned as I just found out about it a few days ago. I knew what it was, but was always a little intimidated by it. PeloFondo is a long distance riding event and you can choose a distance between 35-120 miles. You have two days to complete your distance. I opted for the 35 mile distance today. Cycling isn’t my strength, so I was proud of myself for getting out of my comfort zone and doing this. I’ll have a recap posted on Tuesday.
Summary:
Running – 17.1 miles
Cycle – 83.07 miles
Strength Training – 100 minutes
Bootcamp – 60 minutes
Peloton Artist Series Classes – 501/502
Peloton has released some great Artist Series classes so far this month – Amy Winehouse and David Bowie. I can’t wait to see the next series they release!
Can someone fill me in on Wordle? I keep seeing posts about it all over my social media, but I’m a little confused since all the posts just show colored boxes. Is this a new game I should start? I’m hesitant to get sucked into something else on social media, lol.
…and now for this week’s memes
That’s it! I hope you had a great week š
Iām linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I haven’t tried wordle but my husband is playing it! Its just a new word puzzle game, I’m kind of surprised its so popular!
I am always so impressed by just how many classes you fit in! Incredible. Such a great mix.
I’m ready for February already! January is never my favorite…
kookyrunner says
It seems like it got popular overnight so I feel like I’m missing out!
This month has been rough and I’m also so ready for February.
Jenny says
Ha ha, you and I might be the last two people who don’t know what Wordle is. I refuse to be sucked in!!! For now at least.
Great week of workouts as usual! Glad your back is feeling good. I made a note of that Jess Sims glutes and legs class- I’ve been trying some different classes lately and this one sounds good.
kookyrunner says
Love that yo bookmarked that strength class with Jess – I think you will like it!
Darlene says
Will people stop posting their wordle score!!
Glad to hear your back is feeling better.
I do miss those artist series. FOMO.
Another active week and as usual I lol forward to your memes.
kookyrunner says
LOL – I was so confused when I saw the boxes popping up. I was like wait, what am I missing here??
Thanks – I’m glad that my back pain felt better this week and that I was able to workout.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
My husband “explained” Wordle to me but I still don’t get it. And i’m still not doing it. Probably should but oh well . . . .
Great job on your PelloFondo Kim! Nice way to push yourself.
I’ve still never taken a live Peloton class.
kookyrunner says
I feel like eventually I will get sucked into trying Wordle, lol.
I actually don’t take too many live classes just based on the times that I workout. Luckily Saturday60 is on the weekend so I’m able to join that one. For that class, it’s fun to know that we are all suffering through class together, lol.
Coco says
Oh, one of the best things about wordle is that you only can play once a day! I love it, but I also love crosswords and puzzle games.
Great week of workouts. I tend to reach back for longer Jess runs ā I miss those but I know she canāt do everything. š Now that I braved Cliffās 30 min gospel ride, Iām going to bookmark his Bowie ride. Maybe Iāll figure out the captions by then.
kookyrunner says
Oh really? Okay, then I might download the app since it will automatically cut me off at one play per day, lol.
I have a few more 45 and 60 minute Jess runs bookmarked. I agree that I love her longer runs too.
Kimberly Hatting says
yeah, what is up with Wordle??? Not one person has given me a legit explanation, LOL (I think it’s a secret society) Anyways, I don’t need one more social media “thing” to distract me. I am so out of the loop on Peloton rides! I’ve bookmarked too many classes to count, and I’m sure there will be a bunch of new ones…good thing I’ll be back in Iowa soon and forced into some indoor time. Congrats on the PeloFondo! That was a fun challenge!
kookyrunner says
LOL, I may download it just to see what all the hype is about. The good, and bad, thing about Peloton is that there are just so many rides to do – it’s impossible to do all the rides you have bookmarked. I think that I currently have 70 rides bookmarked, lol.
Deborah Brooks says
I caved in and started wordle as well now my family has a daily competition. š Congrats on the Pelofondo. Maybe I will try it over the summer. Think you will do another one? I have to catch up on all of the Bowie classes this week! You must have hit them all. Have a great week Kim
kookyrunner says
LOL, I love that your family has a daily Wordle competition! I will do the next PeloFondo in April. I think I’ll still stick to 35 miles but I am going to see if I can finish it in a shorter amount of time.
Michelle says
I will admit to loving Wordle but I’m not about posting my daily score.
Congrats on your first PeloFondo! I want to give this a shot the next time it comes around – in the Spring right? Do you think you’ll do it again?
kookyrunner says
I guess i may need to download it to see what the appeal is all about, lol.
Yup! The next PeloFondo will be in April but I don’t know the exact dates yet.
Marcia says
My husband plays Wordle as well. I’m not going near it. Haha! Wow! Congrats on the Pelo Fondo! That’s a lot of riding!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! My legs felt a little hungover today but it was managable.
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I really enjoyed Amy Winehouse’s music, she was such a talented musician. I’m glad you were able to take the class with her music.
I see those Wordle boxes in my FB newsfeed as well. It’s taking over! LOL
kookyrunner says
Wordle is definitely the new hot trend of the moment!
Wendy says
Wordle is a fun brain exercise, and I *do* enjoy it. But, you will never see me post it on FB or IG….so pointless. If you need a more detailed explanation and can’t find someone to provide it, LMK.
kookyrunner says
Okay, I might still check it out so if I have any questions I will let you know.
Black Knight says
Another solid week of workouts, congrats on your first PeloFondo. I have never tried to do something of similar.
Glad your back is feeling better.
Have a good week.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! Pelofondo was fun!
Shathiso says
Well done on your 150th walk! I love how Peloton marks all these milestones!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! The milestones are great because it provides a chance to look back at accomplishments – i love it!
Liz Dexter says
Wordle is fun but it frustrates me, as a professional “word” person! Glad your back has eased – I panicked when my lower back was stiff at the end of the year but I found a list of exercises and have got it free again. And January is GOOD – it’s my birthday month!
kookyrunner says
WSo glad that you find exercises to help your stuff back. It’s such an uncomfortable feeling!
