Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a great week. Things were busy here between work and a few other things, but all in all it was a good week.
Monday, September 12
Our Future Selves: Kim Kardashian 9/6/22 – Robin (30 minutes)
AFO Ride: Florence + The Machine 8/19/22 – Mayla (20 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness (60 minutes)
Evening Stretch 8/31/22 – Matty (20 minutes)
We had a more gentile template for OTF which is always most appreciated since most times it feels like they are trying to kill us. Matty’s evening stretch class was great. It was so relaxing that it almost worked as a stretch/meditation.
Tuesday, September 13
AFO Run: Lil Baby 8/19/22 – Marcel D (15 minutes)
AFO Bootcamp: Lil Baby 8/19/22 – Adrian (30 minutes)
AFO Cool Down Run: Maroon 5 8/19/22 – Jermaine (10 minutes)
AFO Ride: Lil Baby 8/19/22 – Alex (30 minutes)
AFO Yoga Flow: Thievery Corporation 8/19/22 – Nico (30 minutes)
I only know of a few Lil Baby songs but I enjoyed all of the classes. I know that the bootcamps follow a specific format (4 sections for 30 minute bootcamps, 6 sections for 60 minute bootcamps), but I will the 30 minute bootcamps were split at an even 15 minutes for the run and 15 minutes for the strength portions. It’s hard to do such short runs on the treadmill because once I feel like my body is ‘warmed up’ it’s time to hop off the tread for the strength section.
Wednesday, September 14
AFO Ride: T-Pain 8/19/22 – Camila (30 minutes)
AFO Run: T-Pain 8/19/22 – Jermaine (20 minutes)
AFO Cool Down Run: T-Pain 8/19/22 – Kirsten (10 minutes)
AFO Full Body Strength: T-Pain 8/19/22 – Jess (20 minutes)
AFO Yoga Flow: Thievery Corporation 8/19/22 – Denis (30 minutes)
This was a really fun stack! I woke up with a headache so I couldn’t do my typical morning workout so I fit in the workouts when I could during the day. T-Pain showed up in the cycle and strength classes. He was really fun and you could tell he was enjoying himself. Also his workout outfit was pretty memorable, lol. I closed out the night with another yoga class. I tried to do a bit more yoga this week to prep for Saturday’s DriTri.
Thursday, September 15
AFO Run: Nicky Jam 8/19/22 – Robin (20 minutes)
AFO Full Body Strength: Nicky Jam 8/19/22 – Rad (20 minutes)
AFO Ride: Nicky Jam 8/19/22 – Camila (20 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness (60 minutes)
I wasn’t familiar with Nicky Jam before taking these classes but I really enjoyed his sound. It was slower and fast paced reggaeton music which is pretty perfect for working out.
Friday, September 16
AFO Walk: Maroon 5 8/19/22 – Jeffrey (30 minutes)
AFO Ride: Maroon 5 8/19/22 – Cody (30 minutes)
AFO Yoga Flow: Maroon 5 8/19/22 – Kristin (30 minutes)
I wanted to take it a little easier the day before the DriTri. The walk was fun because Jeffrey is just always in a good mood and puts a smile on my face. Cody’s ride was a riot – his commentary was so fun. I did the yoga class later on in the evening. I was hoping it would help my joints loosen up.
Saturday, September 17
Orangetheory DriTri! – 51:55
AFO Yoga Flow: Nicky Jam 8/19/22 – Mariana (20 minutes)
It’s DriTri day! The event definitely didn’t go like I expected (no PR), but a finish is a finish so I have to be happy about that. Of course I felt great all week and then Friday night as I was getting up form the dinner table I felt a pull in left calf – just fantastic. I used muscle rub on it that night and covered it with KT tape in the morning. Overall the rowing and bodyweight exercises went fine but the 5K run was just awful. My legs started cramping after the first mile and they just felt heavy and uncomfortable. Unfortunately there was no way for me to run faster (I tried) but I also didn’t stop to walk either as I thought that would make it worse. As soon as I crossed the finish line and stopped I could feel my legs starting to buckle but thankfully I was right by a bench so I sat down to recover. I’ve only had that feeling one other time during (after a half marathon) and it’s so painful. Eventually the cramping subsided but I still don’t have a clue why that happened. I guess I must have been outside a little too long because I then had to deal with the worse allergy attack I’ve had all summer. So needless to say, I was pretty miserable for the rest of the day and didn’t do much.
Sunday, September 18
Gloria Estefan Walk 9/16/22 – Jess K (30 minutes)
Gloria Estefan Ride 9/16/22 – Robin (30 minutes)
LHHM Celebration Arms & Shoulders 9/18/22 – Tunde (20 minutes)
Gloria Estefan Yoga Flow 9/16/22 – Nico (20 minutes)
Thankfully I felt a little better once I woke up. I definitely have more energy today but still dealing with some residual allergy yuckiness. As expected, I woke up with post-DriTri soreness, primarily in my legs.
I allowed myself to move a bit slower this morning before tackling my workout. I almost scratched this workout but I know that my body always feel better once I get in some movement. I’m glad I picked these Gloria Estefan classes because the music was super fun and light – just what I needed. My upper body felt fine so I jumped into Tunde’s live LHHM Arms & Shoulders class.
Summary:
Running – 16 miles
Cycle – 32.67 miles
Strength Training – 60 minutes
Bootcamp – 30 minutes
Orangetheory Fitness – 120 minutes
Peloton Artist Series Classes – 776/834
I was kinda bummed that I wasn’t able to PR the DriTri since the was one of my 2022 goals, but I know I gave it my all so I can’t be mad about that. Plus, this was my 6th DriTri and there are some OTF members that never attempt to do the DriTri so I’m proud of myself for taking on the challenge every time it’s been offered since the studio opened in 2019.
…and now for this week’s memes.
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Congrats on finishing the Dri Tri even after you started struggling! Sounds tough–maybe you weren’t hydrated enough? I would love to do the DriTri. Sometimes at CF, they have similar events, using the rower, the assault bike, and a run. It’s been a while though.
kookyrunner says
The similar CF event sounds really cool!
I am going to think back to my last week to see what I could have improved on to prepare fr the dritri. I do believe that I wasn’t hydrated enough so that may have contributed to the cramps.
Darlene Cardillo says
You did it. I call it a win even if you didn’t PR. Those PRs are hard to come by.
I haven’t had many cramps but I know they are painful. I would have walked a lot.
Love those memes. They all resound true for me LOL
kookyrunner says
So true Darlene. I’m just happy I was able to complete it.
All the memes really spoke to me this week, lol.
Deborah Brooks says
congrats on finishing the dri tri with everything you had. Sometimes, we just have weird things pop up and there is nothing we can do. So the flutes glutes meme made me laugh since I have been texting so much about glutes this week and it keeps changing it. It’s just a pain in the ass! LOL 🙂
kookyrunner says
Haha my phone does that autocorrect for glutes too, lol. One time my friend thought I was trying to talk about champagne because it autocorrected to flutes.
Jenny says
“Not sure if I’m sore because I did it right, or very wrong.” Hahahaha… the story of my life. Well, sorry you had such a tough time of the DriTri. I wonder what in the world caused that cramping??? But, you did it. Something to be proud of even if it wasn’t a PR.
I forgot Matty has a nighttime stretch class! I want to try it- I’ve been having trouble falling asleep and it sounds like it would help (plus I need to stretch!)
kookyrunner says
That meme was perfect for me today lol. I think I may have been dehydrated which normally wouldn’t do that to me but I guess yesterday was just a fluke. Kinda disappointing but I know we can’t control our bodies so no need to beat myself up over it. Matty’s stretch class is amazing!!
Coco says
Ugh, I’m so sorry about that calf issue. I hope it’s feeling better now. I am afraid to set any goals because I’ve been bouncing from one issue to another for so long.
The T-Pain AFO classes made me love him even more. I was really impressed by the advice he gave at the end of Camilla’s class. I still have so many AFO classes to try. I also still need to try KK’s class with Ashton Kutcher.
kookyrunner says
The T-Pain classes made me laugh so hard, but it was such a good reminder that you can have fun while working out. Also he just seems like such a cool person! I liked KK’s class – I give Ashton a lot of credit because he really tried to focus the class on sharing a lot of the work that KK does that people have no clue about.
Kimberly Hatting says
Ugh, so sorry the Dri Tri was such a tough endeavor. But, you finished, so that goes to show what you’re really made of 😉 I have been cueing up the AFO Maroon 5 workouts for my walks…ILOVE that 30-minute walk! The soundtrack is killer! I listened to Cody’s ride this morning while walking…he is HILARIOUS!
kookyrunner says
The Maroon 5 walk was so good! I have definitely enjoyed some of the AFO classes more than other, and Maroon 5 is in my top 3!
Liz Dexter says
Sorry about the cramping – I’ve only had that once and on a terrible long run before a marathon I didn’t end up doing, when I’d eaten too soon before running and never absorbed my isotonic drink and gels. I was frantically running round the kitchen looking for crisps and bananas! Well done on completing on the day even when suffering!
kookyrunner says
It’s so discouraging, and painful, when that happens! But all we can do is learn from it and try to not make the same mistake twice. Next year I will make sure I’m properly hydrated.
Jenn says
I’m sorry about the PR. Cramping can be so painful, and you really did give it your all. You’ll get it next year, for sure!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jenn! The cramping was so painful so I was just happy to finish.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Ugh, what horrible timing on the leg pain! Congrats on getting it done though. It sounds challenging!! I haven’t done much rowing but it seems like such a great workout.
kookyrunner says
Such terrible timing! But at least I was able to finish and that’s all that matters 🙂
Chocolaterunsjudy says
I’m so sorry that the DrItri didn’t go as expected. It happens, of course, but it stings. Kudos to you for just kee;in’ on during the run.
Here’s to a new week full of possibilities, Kim!
That last meme! So true, LOL!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Judy. It was definitely a bummer but I was able that I was able to finish.
Michelle says
I’m really sorry about your cramping during the DriTri. Huge kudos to you for being able to push through and finish your 6th Tri!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle!
