Happy Sunday. This week was somewhat uneventful, thank goodness! I’m also looking forward to a 3-day weekend as well.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, January 11
Peloton Miley Cyrus Run 1/7/21 – Rebecca (20 minutes)
Peloton Miley Cyrus Ride 1/9/21 – Jess K. (30 minutes)
Peloton Miley Cyrus Core Strength 1/7/21 – Matty (20 minutes)
Peloton Power Walk 11/20/20 – Matty (20 minutes)
I really wanted to love these classes but I just couldn’t get into them. I think I was expecting the music to be centered on more of her Pop songs but they weren’t. The songs for the run weren’t upbeat at all (they were kind of slower tempo/depressing) which made the run drag on and on. The ride and the strength classes were just okay. Absolutely nothing against any of the instructors but I did have high expectations for these Artist Series classes. The day was dragging on and on, and I had some free time during lunch so I decided to do a 20 minute power walk to re-energize myself!
Tuesday, January 12
Peloton Full Body Warm Up 10/14/20 – Irene (5 minutes)
Peloton Power Walk 11/17/20 – Chase (20 minutes)
Peloton Core Strength 12/22/20 – Erik (5 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Ride 12/28/20 – Tunde (20 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance (45 minutes)
The endurance workouts at OTF are always the hardest in my opinion, especially with the masks. Luckily the floor block of the workout wasn’t bad but the treadmill block was brutal. My friend just purchased a treadmill and she has the Peloton app, but was struggling to find motivation to workout. I suggested that we meet virtually a few times a week to do a short power walk and she agreed, so I’ll be doing more power walks during the week. I love it because it’s a great way to get in extra steps and it’s helping my friend meet her fitness goals, so it’s a win-win!
Wednesday, January 13
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (45 minutes)
Peloton Core Strength 12/15/20 – Irene (5 minutes)
Peloton Core Strength 11/17/20 – Irene (5 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Ride 12/23/20 – Tunde (20 minutes)
I was on the #strugglebus for my entire OTF workout. I couldn’t get it together on the treadmill and had to slow down my pace as I was tired and my legs felt like bricks. My arms were sore which made the floor block difficult as well. It was a well designed workout but it just wasn’t my day. Later on in the afternoon I did a 20 minute ride to help flush out my legs which went well, but I’ve also noticed some soreness in my knee since Sunday so I’m going to try running less miles this week.
Thursday, January 14
Peloton Intervals & Arms Ride 12/13/20 – Kendall (45 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Full Body Strength 1/8/21 – Jess (20 minutes)
Peloton 90s Walk 10/21/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
I haven’t done an interval & arms ride in a while so that class was fun and the playlist was amazing. I’m also loving all of the Year of Yes classes as they all have great nuggets of information. I had already completed the 90s Walk but my friend wanted to do it and I never pass down a chance to workout with Jess 🙂 The walk didn’t aggravate my knee so I know i made the right call to lay off running for the day.
Friday, January 15
Peloton HRZ Bootcamp: Core 5/2/19 – Jess (45 minutes)
Peloton Flash 15 1/8/21 – Jess (15 minutes)
This was my first time taking a heart rate zone bootcamp and I really liked it! It made me slow down my pace so that I could stay in the proper hart rate zone to ensure that I wasn’t overdoing it. My knee felt a little bit better so running slowly, and not on a incline, felt fine. The Flat 15 class was another total sweat fest – no surprise there. lol.
Saturday, January 16
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance (45 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Ride 12/14/20 – Robin (20 minutes)
Peloton Bodyweight Strength 11/26/18 – Jess (10 minutes)
Have I mention how much I dislike endurance days? Especially with masks? It’s just a lot, and I got an awful side stitch right at the beginning of the block so I was miserable the whole time. The floor block had some crazy TRX moves too – definitely not my most enjoyable class!
It was also my mom’s birthday!! 🙂
Sunday, January 17
Peloton Hop Hop Bootcamp 1/16/21 – Jess (60 minutes)
Peloton Bodyweight Strength 4/30/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
Another great #Saturday60 on a Sunday. Everyone knows how much I love this weekly class!
Total Weekly Mileage: 11 miles
Summary: 6 runs*, 2 bootcamps, 5 cycle and 11 OTF/strength classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 206/211
Grade This Week – A
Peloton released a great new feature this week – the ability to stack classes. I tried it out for my Friday workout and it was good, although it didn’t work exactly as expected! I thought that once I selected ‘play” that the classes would just automatically keep playing. You still have to hit ‘continue stack’ after each class, but it’s much faster than how I used to stack classes so I still consider it a great new feature. I normally do a few shorter classes vs one long class (with the exception being the 60 minute bootcamps) so this just makes it easier to move between the classes.
I also hit 1,000 minutes in The Annual 2021 Peloton Challenge. The ultimate goal is to hit 15,000 minutes by the end of the year so I’m off to a good start!
My mom and I visited a Peloton showroom on Friday because we’re thinking of selling our current treadmill and getting a Peloton treadmill. We tested it out and absolutely loved it! The slats on the belt make it different from normal treadmills so the run felt easier on my joints. Once we figure out how to sell the current treadmill, we’ll probably put in the order for the treadmill. I know we can probably sell our current treadmill on Facebook Marketplace, but I just hate the idea of people we don’t know coming to our house. i might see if there are any fitness equipment resellers nearby that might be able to purchase it from us.
I’m starting the OTF 2021 Transformation Challenge on Monday. To be completely transparent, I’m only doing it this year because it was free. Last year the studio got closed due to Covid so we never finished the challenge. Because I did it last year, my entry this year was free. We’re doing a Mario Brothers theme this year and the four teams are Princess Peach (my team), Yoshi, Mario and Bowser (my mom’s team). It should be fun and I am curious on how they will change up the challenge this year vs last year.
…and now for this week’s memes 🙂
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

The memes are getting darker, lol! I think your OTF challenge sounds fun. Even better that it’s free. Anxious to hear how you like your Peloton TM! So fun!
kookyrunner says
Yeah this week the memes were a little more serious – hopefully I can find some funnier ones for next Sunday, lol. If we order the treadmill it probably own’t be delivered until April but it will be worth the wait!
Coco says
Happy Birthday to your Mom! I love how she goes to OTF with you.
I tried the Peloton tread for a few minutes when I was looking at the bike and am not sure I could get used to the knob controls, or to the controls being on the side. I’m also not sure how I’d like only being able to see the screen (maybe worse since I am so short). I used to have major vertigo issues on the TM. Next time I’m in the market, I’ll take a longer test run.
My week was not as uneventful as I would have liked, but at least now I’m catching up on the Tread classes I’ve been meaning to take. Good to know I don’t have to worry about the Miley Cyrus ones.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Coco! She was happy to get her birthday burn at OTF on Saturday, lol.
The knobs on the treadmill felt strange to me too. I know it would take me a little while to get used to it, but I love the slates and the huge screen. Right now I take all the bootcamp and treadmill classes on the app on my phone which is kind of tiny.
Deborah Brooks says
My week was also uneventful but sometimes that is good right?! I am loving the stack feature as well but I have to remember to set it up ha. Wow you already hit 1K good for you! Hope your mom had a great birthday. Thanks for linking up!
kookyrunner says
An uneventful week is a good week – especially with all the craziness going on in the world!
The stack featured isn’t as seamless as I thought it would be but I’m learning to work with it, lol. I love that there’s a new badge for it too.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
As always, your memes make me smile, Kim! So sorry about the knee soreness, hopefully that goes away soon.
Glad to hear about the stacking feature — I mean, I’d already heard of it (and had wondered why they didn’t have it), but I also just assumed everything would play consecutively.
My treadmill is as old as Marcia’s, so I considered a P tread for a hot minute, but really, I have no desire to pay a larger monthly fee!
Happy birthday to Mrs. Kooky. 🙂
kookyrunner says
Thanks Judy! The knee soreness is very odd as it seems to be an issue every other day – not sure what that’s all about!
The stacking feature is long overdue! I think they still have some work to do as it’s not as seamless as I thought it would be but it’s a good start. Totally get what you mean about the monthly fee. Because I have the bike and pay the monthly app fee for that, I wouldn’t have to pay another fee for the treadmill which is a plus.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I raised an eyebrow when I saw the Miley Cirus series – not really a fan so it sounds like I won’t be missing anything to skip this one. I’m glad to hear you like the stacked feature – I’m planning to use it as I plan out this week’s workouts.
Sorry about your knee soreness – hope it passes quickly!
Your mom looks amazing – a big happy birthday to her 🙂
kookyrunner says
Hahaha – yeah, you definitely didn’t miss anything with the Miley series. That’s 90 minutes of my day that I can’t get back.
The stacking feature is long overdue! I think they still have some work to do as it’s not as seamless as I thought it would be but it’s a good start.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
That’s exciting that you’re thinking about getting a Peloton treadmill! Hopefully you can figure out how to sell your old one. Happy birthday to your mom!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Lisa! I’m hoping we can figure out a way to sell the treadmill that doesn’t require strangers coming into our house. That just makes me so nervous!
Cari says
That I’m Just a Bill meme. Did I grab it from your twitter? I just fell in love with it.
I love the Mario theme. What fun. Happy birthday to your mom. Hope you’re able to quickly sell your Peloton and the knee is on the mend
I need to find the 90s stuff on Peloton. So far I’ve binged all the country but 80s/90s pop is also my jam especially for running and I’m loving the classes for picking up the pace.
kookyrunner says
The Just a Bill meme is so funny/true! I grabbed it from Instagram (not sure if I posted on Twitter).
There are a lot of 90’s walks, runs and bootcamps on the Peloton app. I know you can search by music but I’m not sure if that will specifically pull out the 90’s music classes.
Cari says
Robin Arzon’s 90s pop fun run was great this morning. TLC, Salt ‘n’ Pepa, Haddaway.
kookyrunner says
She always has great playlists!
Kimberly Hatting says
When our youngest was home for a couple weeks, I caught her watching Hannah Montana on Disney LOL Her and her big sis watched that show all the time (years ago), and I saw a few episodes now and then. OMG…watching it NOW almost had me rolling my eyes from start-to-finish. Miley and her father are so corny! I’m not much a fan of her music, so I can’t imagine working out to it…sounds like it would be an interesting experience! Happy Birthday to your Mommy Dearest <3 It's awesome that she's so dedicated to fitness, too 😉
kookyrunner says
LOL I never watched Hannah Montana – seems like I’m not missing anything, lol. Yeah the classes weren’t that great – can’t say I would recommend any of them.
Marcia says
My BIL has a Peloton treadmill and its just like a Woodway, which is what I used at the gym back when I actually belonged to one. I think you’ll love it! Great job pushing through all the workouts this week Hope your knee is okay!
kookyrunner says
I thought it looked similar to a Woodway treadmill but I wasn’t sure so thanks for the confirmation! I’ve never run on one before but I’ve heard they are the best treadmills and easier on your joints which is definitely what I’m looking for!
Liz Dexter says
A challenging week, so well done. And exciting news about the treadmill! I am having a bit of trouble getting the app going but will be there one day. Happy birthday, Mom, too!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Liz and I’ll pass along your birthday wishes to my mom!
Zenaida Arroyo says
I got the email about the stacked classes and wondered what that was about. Glad it is now working out for you. How exciting about the treadmill! Which one are you thinking of getting? If I had room for one, I would get one too.
kookyrunner says
Yeah it’s a pretty cool feature but I still think there are a few ways it can be improved. We’re thinking of getting the original treadmill, the treadmill +, because of the slate belt. It’s bigger but luckily we have the space in the basement to accommodate it.
Renée @runlaugheatpie says
Kim I’m so glad you had some awesome workouts mixed in with those not so great ones. What a bummer about the MC Artist Series and struggling through your OTF workouts. It does seem like the good outweighed the bad though.
The civil war meme. OMG.
You know if you sell your treadmill just make it clear to the buyer that they cannot come into your home without a mask, period. And if they have issues then they can’t buy the mill.
kookyrunner says
The civil war meme is funny but not funny at the same time. Totally agree with you about requiring a mask – we wouldn’t accept anything other than that. I just feel funny about people I don’t know coming into our home, especially during a pandemic – ugh!
Jenn says
Not even funny about the civil war OMG!
Happy birthday to your amazing and beautiful mom! She’s so strong and I love that she plays such a big role in your fitness life.
Sorry that Miley was a disappointment. She has some great music, so it’s hard that it wasn’t as motivating as it could/should have been.
Take care of that knee!
kookyrunner says
I agree about the civil war meme! I will pass along your birthday wishes to my mom 🙂
Yeah I was totally bummed about the Miley classes because I don’t think they picked the best songs for the classes.
Jessie says
oh my the memes…that rug one is so good! Thanks for sharing Kim.
I’m strongly considering a peloton bike. It would be tight in my gym space with the treadmill; they say you need two full feet on both sides, which is the hard part. But I really want a second cardio option other than running! And you guys all love yours so much 🙂
kookyrunner says
That’s so exciting that you’re considering a bike! I’ve seen bikes in all types of tight places, even studio apartments, so I bet you could make it work! If you have any questions about the bike, just let me know and i can also give you my referral code to save $100.
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
How exciting that you might be getting a new treadmill! Do you have Play It Again Sports near you? They buy used equipment, but I don’t know if they buy treadmills and how generous they are with their pricing. It might be worth investigating, though.
kookyrunner says
Thanks for the lead on Play it Again Sports – I’ll need to see if I have one nearby!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
The Peloton treadmills do look interesting! That’s very exciting you might be getting one. I also wondered how the stacked classes worked. It sounds like a good idea. One of these days I might start my Peloton membership up again so I’ll try that! Great workouts this week!
kookyrunner says
I’ve use the stack feature more this week – it still have a few bigs to work out but overall it’s a very useful feature!
