Happy Sunday! Well – we survived another week. For that, let’s give ourselves a pat on the back š Things are still hectic now and they will be for at least the next few weeks, but I hope that we can all adjust to our new normal at some point.
Another week working from home and another week of at home workouts. I struggled a bit toward the end of the work week but I think that’s to be expected. I’m sure there will be ups and downs as we all navigate our new lifestyle but I have no doubt that we will get through this.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, March 23
3 mile run + 20 minute strength training + afternoon walk.
I ran intervals on the treadmill to make the run go by quicker and decided to add an upper body strength workout. I do feel like I’ve lost some of my strength since not attending OTF studio workouts so I’m hoping to build that back up.
Tuesday, March 24
3 mile run + OTF at Home workout + 2.5 mile walk.
This workout was similar to Monday’s workout.
Wednesday, March 25
2.5 mile walk.
My knee had been bothering me most of the week so I decided to skip a high intensity workout and opt for a nice walk around my neighborhood.
Thursday, March 26
2 mile run + OTF at Home workout + 30 minute afternoon walk.
When I woke up I really didn’t feel like doing another at home workout but decided to stop complaining and get my butt in gear. I added a run to the at home workout so that I could get my heart rate up and get my splat points. The at home workout was pretty good because there was a good split between the arm and leg exercises. My knee was still bothering me so I modified some of the movements.
Friday, March 27
2 mile run + OTF at Home workout.
One of my favorite OTF coaches did the at home workout live in Instagram so I followed along. The workouts are definitely more fun this way!
Saturday, March 28
6 mile run.
The weather was very ‘blah’ – a little cold and total overcast, but I was able to get my run done before it started raining. I did a 4 mile run and then finished with 2 miles of intervals. This was actually the longest I’ve run in a while and it felt pretty good. I ended up using KT Tape on my knee and it felt much better during the run.
Sunday, March 29
Peloton Cycle (30 minutes) + OTF at Home Workout
I was very productive this morning and cleaned/organized both of my closets. I still wanted to get in a workout and opted for hip hop cycle class and then I did today’s OTF at home workout which was all about core work.
Total Weekly Mileage: 16 miles
Summary: 5 runs*, 1 cycle class, 4 OTF at home workouts.
*I include running from my OTF workouts and stand alone runs as well.
Grade This Week ā A
Last week I felt pretty good but this week I struggled a little. Wednesday and Thursday were hard for me. I was just in a funk. Work was so busy which was stressing me out. I wasn’t really thrilled with the concept of working out at home. Basically, I was just cranky. I think because I started thinking toward the future and how we would more than likely have at least 6 more weeks of lockdown. Just the thought of that made me stir crazy. After Thursday I decided to just keep my focus on the current day. I think that’s the only way to get through all of this craziness.
In an effort to get my mind off of things for a little while, I started watching Tiger King on Netflix yesterday. This is literally the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. I’m only halfway through the series and I’m told it gets even crazier, which is very hard to imagine!
…and because I always like to end my posts with a little humor..
That’s it! I hope you had a great week š
Iām linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Glad you’re still keeping busy with your virtual OTF workouts! I too am worried about losing strength, being out of the gym. Not much we can do about that right now, tho.
We’re almost done with Tiger King–omg, it is the craziest show ever. This is what happens when you use meth, I guess! It’s been entertaining, that’s for sure! We signed back up for Comcast–not cable, but streaming this time–looks like we’ll be spending lots of time in front of the TV!
kookyrunner says
I have definitely lost some strength, but I’m trying not to worry about it. I’m still staying active which is most important!
Tiger King is absolutely insane! I still cannot believe that it’s a true story.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Everyone seems to be talking about Tiger King. I hadn’t even heard of it! Doesn’t really sound like my cup of tea though.
I’m sorry that you’ve been struggling, Kim. It’s a big adjustment, and it’s not like you had time to prepare yourself. One day at a time is a good way to think about it!
kookyrunner says
I had not heard about Tiger King until Friday but I’m so glad I started watching it yesterday, lol. Just the distraction I need.
Thanks Judy! I’m not one to really share my emotions that often, but I figure that other people may be struggling as well, so I should share. I’m hoping that this upcoming week will be better.
Laurie says
I feel like I’ve lost some of my strength since not going to Body Pump classes too. I could do online classes but I would have to use Bill’s weights and workout in the basement, which I hate….any other excuses I could use? š Nice workout week, Kim!
I have to check out Tiger King.
kookyrunner says
I was able to order some weights from Walmart which should hopefully arrive next week. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get in a great workout once those arrives. Still not the same as OTF, but at least it’s something!
Darlene says
This working from home really sucks. And the not knowing when it will end.
I feel like a caged animal.
Good for you in doing home workouts.
That would not be me.
Hope you knee continues to behave.
We will get through this!!!
kookyrunner says
The home workouts and getting outdoors for daily walks are the two things keeping me sane I think.
De Bolton says
You’ve pinpoint a lot of my week. I’ve tried to keep a routine and I’ve even taking up run ning which I have been saying I want to but never doing. It’s not so bad. Just adjusting every day.
kookyrunner says
Yup, that’s all we can do is keep adjusting as best we can. I know we’ll get through this!
Deborah Brooks says
One day at a time indeed! Way to keep up your workouts. We also started tiger king. Never would have watched it before but desperate times….Thanks for linking up! Stay well (to your mom too!)
kookyrunner says
Haha same here! I never would have given that documentary another look but desperate times call for desperate measures.
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
I think I’ve cried at least once a week since the second week in March thinking of all this crap. It’s depressing and anxiety inducing for sure. I’m also trying to take it one day at a time but knowing that this will probably be another couple months is depressing š
kookyrunner says
I totally agree, and I’m not normally an anxious person but this past week I have been so damn anxious and freaked out, it’s scary!
Coco says
Glad the KT tape helped your kneeāI hope it quiets down for good now. I had bad luck with rain last week ā almost every scattered shower caught me when I was about to head out with Scooby! Today it didnāt rain, but was so misty I couldnāt see out of my glasses anyway. I feel like week one it was novel, and this week my inner toddler is throwing tantrums and wants this ātime outā to be over!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Coco – me too! Now is not the time for an injury.
Speaking of weather…it’s raining here again, but hopefully it will stop by lunchtime so I can get out for a walk.
Kimberly Hatting says
Ha ha!!!! SO, you drank the Koolaid and watched Tiger King š Did I lie when I said it was like a bad train wreck, that you just could not look away from? Seriously, though, I’m sorry you’ve had some challenging days, Kim. It’s a great unknown arena for us all….focusing on the present day is a great strategy for coping. Hang in there <3
kookyrunner says
LOL, yup I sure did! I have to finish watching it tonight but it is so insane!
Thanks Kim – I know that struggling is going to be part of this process and I’m going to continue to do my best to adapt.
Jessie says
Glad to hear you’re adjusting to the new normal. Stay safe please!
Tiger King was NUTS.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jessie! And yes, Tiger King was just the type of foolishness I needed this weekend, haha
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
You did a great job with your workouts despite feeling a little blah. One day at a time is a good approach – I know if I start looking too far down the road I really start to feel overwhelmed.
Glad the KT tape helped – hope your knee settles down!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle! So far so good with my knee for today. Hopefully that lasts for a while. This is definitely NOT the time for an injury.
Catrina says
Look at you, running 6 miles! And including intervals, too! Well done!!
I don’t think you will lose a lot of muscle, as long as you keep up your regular strength sessions. You might plateau a bit, but that’s all.
And one day at a time: an excellent strategy! Hopefully your work will be calmer this week.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! Originally I went out for 3 miles but I felt good so decided to keep running – that never happens, lol
I’m going to try to make sure I do a workout with weights at least 4x a week and hopefully that will help me at least maintain my strength.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
All these adjustments are really tough! Ive been trying not to think about how long this will last. I am just desperate to hear some good news that we are making progress with slowing things down. Glad you could still get in your workouts, even if it was a little harder to get them done on your own!
kookyrunner says
Same! I just wish I could hear that cases are slowing down but sadly that doesn’t seem to be the case, and it won’t be for a few weeks.
Chaitali says
That’s good news the OTF at home workout was more fun with the instagram live addition! I keep hearing about Tiger King but I haven’t given it a try yet. I think I’m going to have to give in soon because the curiosity is strong š
kookyrunner says
I would highly recommend Tiger King if you just want to watch something insane to keep your mind off all the craziness of this virus.
Shathiso says
I hear you re: the struggle. I was mostly fine last week but today I just feel physically and emotionally tired and drained. So today I’ve just focused on responding to key emails but done a lot more home schooling. Will go for a run later and then tomorrow I think I’ll feel myself again and get back to doing more substantive work. We’ve got this.
kookyrunner says
I am so glad that we have running as an outlet to help us during this crazy time.
Jenn says
Tiger King has saved us all, quite literally. Joe Exotic is the hero we didn’t know we needed.
You’re doing great with your OTF at home workouts, although I know it’s not the same as being in the studio. All of this is just so complicated to navigate.
kookyrunner says
LOL this is so true. Joe Exotic took my mind off of all the craziness, just for a little bit.
Angie @ Planted says
Your week of workouts sounds great. Mine has not been so good. I find that working from home is really not my area. I miss the office and the interaction with people. I told my co-workers: when this is over I am coming into work and I am going to hug everyone!
Omg, the Tiger King is INSANE, but I just could not get past episode three. It is so crazy. And just when you think it cannot get any weirder, along comes another fruit loop in the cast of characters. lol.
kookyrunner says
Tiger King was just the distraction I needed after a hard week. It was just so crazy!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Is CT on lockdown? I had no idea.I am on my third week being at home. Right now taking it day by day and trying to stay positive. I know soon this will be all over. I have heard about the show but haven’t watched it. I started watching “Cheers” and am like it.
kookyrunner says
We aren’t “shelter in place” but might as well be as everything is closed except for the essential businesses like supermarkets and liquor stores.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Tiger King was quite the topic at work on Monday! Hooray for distractions!! Hope your knee is feeling better. Ever since they canceled my marathon, my body has gone downhill. I’m trying not to run (you know, where your body says No because it hurts but your mind says “I love to sweat!”). It’s tough š I’m happy to have the Peloton app right now!
kookyrunner says
I still can’t get over Tiger King – what a train wreck!
Angela says
I’m sorry to hear your knee was bothering you! Glad you were able to let up a bit. I had a few hard days last week too. I always work from home, but now that my kids are home all day and I am helping them with their remote school work, it has been a real challenge. One day at a time!!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Angela! The KT tape really helped.
We’re all in this together and we will get through this hard time!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
You’re doing great with your workouts from home and it’s great that OT is giving you virtual workouts to complete.
We haven’t watched Tiger King, but our son was telling us about it. We’re half way through the first season of Schitt’s Creek and it’s hilarious.
kookyrunner says
I’ve heard good things about Schitt’s Creek so I’ll need to add that to my list!
