Happy Sunday π Although this was a 4-day work week, it felt super long. I feel like that always happens with shorter work weeks for some odd reason. Also things have just been so crazy at work this month. It’s way too much to type out but basically just more changes that started at the end of 2019 and will continue until the Spring time. I definitely need my workouts to help keep me sane – I’ll just leave it at that.
This week kicked off week #1 of the OTF Transformation Challenge!
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, January 20
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance (60 minutes) + core work (5 minutes).
Monday kicked off Spirit Week as well. The theme for the day was tie dye and it was also a signature workout called ‘Capture the Flag’. Basically you are your partner alternate doing floor exercises, a short treadmill run and rowing. For example, I would do 20 reps of 3 exercises on the floor and then run 0.2 miles on the treadmill. During that time, my mom would be rowing. Once I was done on the treadmill, we would switch. The goal was to reach 3,000 meters (orange flag), 4,000 meters (green flag) or 5,000 meters (red flag) on the rower. Happy to report that we captured the red flag! I was rowing like a crazy person, lol.
Tuesday, January 21
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance (60 minutes) + core work (5 minutes).
Day #2 of Spirit Week and the theme was crazy sock day. Of course I had plenty of socks to choose from, but I choose the ‘orange boom’ π It was another endurance workout with a pretty long treadmill block but I survived!
Wednesday, January 22
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (60 minutes) + core work (5 minutes).
Day #3 of Spirit Week and the theme was camouflage. I’ll admit I didn’t have anything with a camp print but luckily I found this shirt and headband on Amazon. The ab dolly (aka Satan’s skateboard) made an appearance for this workout and I was not happy but I got it done! Unfortunately I got a really bad charlie horse during the last few minutes of class. It was so painful and I had to sit for a few minutes before the pain subsided.
Thursday, January 23
Orangetheory Fitness – Power (60 minutes) + core workout (5 minutes).
Day #4 of Spirit Week and the theme was favorite sports team. Of course I had to represent for NYC with my Yankees cap and Giants shirt. I’ll admit that my body was pretty tired at this point. Doing consecutive days of OTF classes isn’t really advised but I wanted to do all the spirit days this week.
Friday, January 24
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (60 minutes).
Final day of Spirit Week and the theme was Disney! I was so glad to have this workout over as my body was just completely over working out at this point. I still got in a really great workout though!
Saturday, January 25
4 mile run + core workout (5 minutes).
I was actually surprised I was able to get in 4 miles on tired legs but I’ll take it!
Sunday, January 26
Peloton Cycle (45 minutes) + core workout (10 minutes).
I took it a little easy today and ran some errands this morning and then got in a fun hip hop cycle class.
Total Weekly Mileage: 14.5 miles
Summary: 6 runs*, 1 cycle classes and 5 OTF workouts
*I include running from my OTF workouts and stand alone runs as well.
Grade This Week β A
Sorry that this week was a little OTF heavy, but Spirit Week only comes around once or twice a year!
Saturday’s run was very cold and windy, but my legs didn’t feel completely trashed, which was shocking.
Overall, week #1 of the transformation challenge went well. I’m back to my meal prepping and losing weight. I felt really in control this week. There are four teams for the challenge – green, blue, red and orange. I’m on the green team and my mom is on the blue team – yup, they split us up – but that’s okay because who doesn’t love a little friendly competition?! π
Last week I ordered a new case for my laptop since my old one was pretty beat up. I was also rowing Etsy and found these awesome decals to add to it – I love them and they will give me extra motivation for the next few weeks.
Unrelated to working out, can you believe that there was ONE jackass that didn’t vote Derek Jeter into the Baseball Hall of Fame?! I mean seriously, who does that?! Derek Jeter is one of those player that EVERYONE loves, even Boston Red Sox fans! I really want to know the reasoning that this person had to make that choice.
And now time for my weekly baby Yoda meme, LOL
That’s it! I hope you had a great week π
Iβm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I’ve heard such great things about OT and I am dying to try it, if it wasn’t so expensive…
kookyrunner says
I agree – it can be expensive! Luckily I got the Founders rate at my studio (since it was new) so it’s cheaper than other locations.
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
You are seriously crushing these OTF workouts! I love seeing your spirit and determination. May the odds be ever in your favor! Cute lap top cover
kookyrunner says
Thanks! Last week was rough with doing 5 OTF workouts in a row – I don’t think I’ll do that again!
Kimberly Hatting says
That spirit week looks painfully exhausting, but you rocked it outta the park! I didn’t realize in your Insta post, but you and Mom have the tie-dyed shoes LOL Way to go, BOTH of you π
kookyrunner says
That’s a great way to describe it – “painfully exhausting” lol. I was in bed by 8pm on Friday because I was just so beat.
Marcia says
Oh wow you killed spirit week! My body would be toast after that. Athleta has camo tights..in black and in green…not that I’d know anything about that. Haha!
kookyrunner says
My body was toast, lol – I fell asleep at 8pm on Friday night! I’m gonna check out the Athleta website – thanks!
Jessie says
I totally feel ya on work being nuts with the new year…workouts definitely help! Great job on your challenge so far!
kookyrunner says
Right?! January is usually busy for us but this is just so crazy. I barely have time to eat lunch during the workday so my workouts help me stay sane!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
What an awesome week of OTF workouts! Your transformation challenge is off to a great start! Can’t wait to see how things go for you over the next few weeks.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle! I’m really looking forward to toning up and losing body fat. This spare tire around my stomach has to go once and for all lol
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
Spirit week sounds so fun! I love themed workouts. You’re killing those OTF workouts! And I love your baby yoda memes.
kookyrunner says
Me too – the themed workouts tend to go by faster for some reason.
I keep seeing an endless supply of baby yoda memes online so I’ll keep sharing my favorites LOL
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
I hear you on crazy work…the sweat keeps us sane. <3 Baby Yoda
kookyrunner says
Yup, a good sweat keeps me sane daily lol
Coco says
You do all these theme weeks β Hell Week will be a breeze when it comes around. I suck at rowing so Iβm glad I missed Capture the Flag! Love the stickers! I know you and yoru mom are going to kill the Transformation Challenge!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Coco! I used to hate rowing but now I don’t hate it as much, lol. My mom and I know we won’t win the transformation challenge but we both want to lose a certain percentage of body fat so I hope we can achieve that goal.
Catrina says
I love that Spirit Week! So cool that you could dress up for the different themes! I would be trashed doing that for 5 days in a row, you are amazing!
Hopefully this week will be somewhat quieter for you on the work side. Good that we have our workouts to keep us sane!
kookyrunner says
I don’t think I’ll ever do 5 days in a row again. It was quite the experience and by Friday night I was asleep by 8pm lol
Liz Dexter says
Wow, that’s so hard-core. But I LOVE you and your mom, you are so cute (but also badass). We don’t have OFT really here, the nearest class for me would be about 50 miles away and impossible. I think I’d be too feeble for it, anyway! I have been putting more squats and lunges into my days, though, and with coming off my anti-anxiety pills and not being hungry all the time I’ve managed to drop some weight, so my own transformation season is going fairly well.
Hope you have a more chilled week this week, although knowing you, you’ll be leaping around again!
kookyrunner says
You are definitely not too feeble for OTF…you ran an ultra marathon so you could for sure handle OTF, lol
This week will probably be just as hectic but at least I’m better prepared for it now, lol.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
That’s alot of OTF workouts! It sounds like they keep things pretty fun and interesting. Not sure I would have been able to get in a run outside after all those hard workouts!
kookyrunner says
The start of the run was rough on Saturday but my legs started to come around after the first mile. I felt bad for neglecting running last week so I was glad that I could at least do that, lol.
Shathiso says
A little friendly competition is always good and spices things up! Well done on an awesome spirit week, rocking those workouts and those brilliant outfits!! And after all that, a run?! You killed this week.
kookyrunner says
Totally agree – I like a good competition, lol.
Wendy says
I’m so happy to see how much fun you’re having at OTF. Love all the themed workouts!
kookyrunner says
thanks so much Wendy!
Laetitia says
I’m not doing the Transformation Challenge but I love following your OrangeTheory adventures! You always make it seem SO fun!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I’m loving the challenge so far because I’m interacting with more people at the studio which is great.
Chaitali says
Wow, way to go with all those OTF classes in a row! That’s impressive that your legs still had 4 miles in them the next day π
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I was also surprised that I was able to get a run done on Saturday lol
Jenn says
Oh, Jeter! He’s truly one of my favorites (and I don’t tend to fangirl celebs). We got his autograph at a training camp in Tampa. It was super crowded, and my kid (who was maybe 5 or 6) was on his dad’s shoulders yells out “Hey, Derek Jeter!” and Jeter said “Hey what?” Little man goes “May I please get your autograph?” and he did! It was awesome.
But back to your mother and you in your matching tie-dye! I love her. Great Spirit Week for you. I hope the changes at work end up transitioning more smoothly than you anticipate. <3
kookyrunner says
Jeter is such a stand up guy! I’ve never heard anyone say one bad thing about him.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Wow! That’s a whole lotta OTF! Impressive! I always think it’s so sweet that you do it with your mom (even if you’re on separate teams.
Sounds like you’re off to a really good start with the transformation!
kookyrunner says
Totally! It was way too much OTF – there’s no way I’ll ever do 5 classes in a row again, lol
De says
You inspire me weekly with all that you do. Always with a smile. Have a fantastic week!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much De!
Darlene says
I donβt know how you do it all. Iβm impressed.
Youβre killing it @ OTF.
Almost FOMO. But not quite. Too expensive and not near my house.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Darlene!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Seriously girl, I get tired just reading your workouts. Way to go though!!!! Love the themes and I have the same Brooks tie dye shoes.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much!
