Happy Sunday! Did you have a good week? Do anything exciting? My week was pretty basic but I was feeling pretty “blah” all week. Not sick or anything, but just very low energy. I have felt like I’m been running on fumes this week. I’m taking two days off work next week (Thursday/Friday) so I hope that will help me recharge.
Here’s how my workouts went this week.
Monday, August 16
Core Strength 9/27/20 – Matty (10 minutes)
2000s Walk 8/10/21 – Jess (20 minutes)
Castile-La Mancha Scenic Class (15 minutes)
Lake Como at Dusk Scenic Class (10 minutes)
HIIT Ride 3/3/20 – Leanne (30 minutes)
HIIT Cardio 2/4/20 – Jess (10 minutes)
#nevermissamonday almost didn’t happen. I was so sore/tired when my alarm went off. I decided to sleep in an additional hour to see if I would feel better. It helped a little bit I still didn’t want to do my planned workout so I switched things up at the last minute. It was still a great workout and a good sweat! Also I have to give a shoutout to Leanne because she is just so motivating on the bike – it was much needed!
Tuesday, August 17
Core Strength 5/16/19 – Matty (10 minutes)
HIIT Ride 3/3/20 – Ben (30 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – Power (45 minutes)
Fastest Mile 4/23/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
We had the benchmark 500m row at OTF and I missed my PR by 2 seconds. I was totally okay with that as it gets harder and harder to PR these benchmarks. I still got in a great workout so that’s most important. The fastest mile run was great because the first half of the run is more of a warm up and them the goal is to run a 7, 8, or 9 minute mile for the second half of the run.
Wednesday, August 18
Core Strength 5/20/21 – Matty (10 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (45 minutes)
Arms & Light Weights 3/26/21 – Cliff (10 minutes)
Tabata Ride 3/3/20 – Leanne (30 minutes)
Cultivate Courage Yoga Flow 5/1/21 – Anna (30 minutes)
I loved the workout template for the OTF class – it was probably one of my favorite classes this year. It really had a little bit of everything which made the class go by quickly. As always, Leanne provided a bunch of positive energy for the tabata ride, which was much needed! It was nice to end the night with a yoga class with Anna.
Also, I had a friendly visitor for dinner. She really didn’t care that I took a few photos – she was more concerned with eating tree leaves.
Thursday, August 19
Pre-Run Warm Up 4/26/19 – Becs (5 minutes)
HRZ Endurance Run 6/15/19 – Jess (60 minutes)
Post-Run Stretch 3/22/21 – Becs (5 minutes)
Core Strength 6/28/19 – Matty (10 minutes)
2000s Ride 1/20/20 – Irene (20 minutes)
Arms & Light Weights 4/8/21 – Cliff (10 minutes)
My day started super early (4:30am) due to and emergency alert on my phone due to a tornado warning. This was the first time this type of alert has come through on my phone and it was super loud. The alert suggested going to the basement of your home if possible so that’s what we did. Luckily nothing came of it and we only had a little bit of rain, but I couldn’t go back to sleep after all the commotion. I think I was half asleep for some of the workout but it went pretty well overall.
Friday, August 20
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance/Strength (45 minutes)
Core Strength 7/25/20 – Matty (10 minutes)
Climb Ride 3/3/20 – Ben (30 minutes)
Arms & Light Weights 5/21/21 – Cliff (10 minutes)
Hip Hop Yoga Flow: Live From Home 5/1/20 – Ross (30 minutes)
The OTF class kicked my butt due to the many inclines on the treadmill. My legs were screaming by the end of class. I know that running hills/inclines are good for you, but I don’t think I’ll ever enjoy it.
Saturday, August 21
Core Strength 8/4/21 – Rad (10 minutes)
80’s Ride 12/14/19 – Sam (30 minutes)
Warm Up Run 8/18/21 – Jess (5 minutes)
Pop Bootcamp 8/21/21 – Jess (60 minutes)
Post-Run Stretch 4/29/19 – Rebecca (5 minutes)
Another fun #Saturday60 bootcamp in the books. My legs felt super heavy so the class was a bit fo a struggle, but the playlist was really good so that helped. I think that running a bunch on inclines on Friday did a number on my legs so that’s why they felt so heavy. I picked a random, older stretch class to do after bootcamp and it was really good! It was just what my body needed.
Sunday, August 22
Core Strength 8/14/21 – Rad (10 minutes)
Spotify Disney Hits Ride 8/18/21 – Cody (20 minutes)
Intervals Ride 3/3/20 – Leanne (45 minutes)
Spotify Disney Hits Bodyweight Strength 8/20/21 – Rebecca (20 minutes)
90s Yoga Flow: Live From Home 5/1/20 – Aditi (30 minutes)
Kind of a weird mix of workouts today but it worked out well! I’m not a big fan of Disney songs but figured I would give these a try. Of course Cody made me laugh during his ride, which was much needed on this dreary and rainy day. The strength class was..interesting, I’ll just leave it at that, lol.
Total Weekly Mileage: 14 miles
Summary: 7 runs*, 8 cycle, 1 bootcamps, 4 yoga and 15 OTF/strength/HIIT classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 383/386
We got this alert on Friday. I’m still hopeful that the weather won’t be as bad as predicted. So far just lots of rain but not much wind. There are reports of some power outages across the state but so far so good.
I can’t believe that Matty’s Summer Crunch challenge is more than halfway done. There were a few repeat classes that I replaced with other 10 minute core classes from Matty that I haven’t taken yet. I usually don’t like to repeat classes unless I really love them. I’ve also been sprinkling in Rad’s core classes on the weekends and those have been amazing!
…and now for this week’s memes
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Cari says
omg the comments section meme.
I feel you on the drained. HUGS
Thanks for the confirmation that there were some repeat classes. I thought that was the case but wasn’t entirely sure I hadn’t done the wrong class once or twice.
I was with a friend Thursday night who also had the tornado warnings late Wednesday night/early Thursday in Westchester. I wondered if I slept through them until the flash flood one woke me last night. Most definitely could not.
kookyrunner says
That meme is my favorite because it’s so true.
Yeah I noticed there were some repeats during week 2 and then I decided to just pick classes that I haven’t done with Matty yet.
Michelle D. says
Despite feeling blah, it looks like another strong week of workouts!
How scary to get that tornado warning – glad it turned out to be nothing.
Enjoy your days off this week!
kookyrunner says
Yes, so glad that he tornado warning turned out to be nothing. It was so strange because we never get those types of warnings!
Jessie says
Yikes on the tornado warnings Kim! Hope all is okay.
OMG the comments section..argh. People. I tell ya…
I was really tired and blah this week too…you still got a ton accomplished!
kookyrunner says
Maybe there was something in the air this week because a few other people I have talked to have felt tired too!
Darlene S. Cardillo says
That was a strong week of workouts. No wonder you are tired.
Enjoy those days off. I have one off each week in August and it really helps. Sept will be hard. No more days off.
kookyrunner says
It’s so hard to find time to use vacation days but i know they are so important!
Deborah Brooks says
lol on the comments section meme! So true! Well, I would not know you felt blah by looking at all of the workouts you did this week. You always inspire me to do different classes. This humidity and heat is draining for sure and we will all feel better in fall.
kookyrunner says
Totally agree! This weather is just so draining and we have another heatwave coming this week – ugh!
Coco says
Ugh on waking up to that tornado warning — that would get my heart rate up for sure, but not in a good way. Glad you were safe. One thing I don’t miss about OTF is the rowing — good for you for keeping up with it. I think I may let both of those Disney classes slide …..
I hope you feel better this week!
kookyrunner says
For sure! It was really scary to wake up to that alert and I knew I wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep.
It took MONTHS for me to start to enjoy rowing so I understand where you’re coming from!
Jenny says
If this is you running on fumes, you’re a total badass. You killed it this week! I hope having some days off of work gets you feeling back to normal. Love the Big Bird meme, hee hee!
Hope your weather holds up this week. Feel better!
kookyrunner says
LoL, thanks! I will say that I felt a little better toward the end of the week.
The Big Bird meme makes me laugh too, lol.
Kimberly Hatting says
The “comments section” meme was spot-on LOL.I am so surprised we haven’t had any tornadoes (or at least warnings) here. The weather has certainly felt like the perfect atmosphere for a tornado with all the humidity we’ve had in recent weeks. I’s not be able to fall back asleep if such an alert woke me up either.
kookyrunner says
That’s interesting because I was wondering if all of the humidity led to the tornado warning here. Who knows!
Renée @runlaugheatpie says
you still got some good workouts Kim but it does sound a bit like you need a few days off to recharge!
that emergency alert would scare that crap out of me that early! glad you all were safe in the end anyway!
My summer holiday is totally those two hotdogs against a beach photo on the ipad…
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I am really looking forward to my days off at the end of the week – it’s much needed!
The summer holiday meme was me last year and this year but I hope it’s not me next year, lol.
Jenn says
OMG THE HOT DOGS!!!
I’m sorry you’re feeling so depleted. I’ve been running at such a high level of anxiety, that all I want to do is curl up under a blanket and nap for a month.
I hope you are back to yourself soon.
kookyrunner says
LoL, right?! The hot dog really made me laugh!
Thanks Jenn. I think my job and increased anxiety is causing my current mood. I know it will get better. I just have to hang in there.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I hate those tornado warnings! I remember getting some last summer right around dinner time. I was trying to cook and had to stop to go into the basement. I’ve been feeling pretty drained too. Hopefully a couple days off will help you recharge!
kookyrunner says
The tornado warnings can be so jarring! I hope that is the last we hear from them for a while.
Liz Dexter says
Sorry about the tiredness and hope the days off will help. And that tornado warning was scary! We don’t have that system here, but that does mean that when there is the rare Something we don’t know and aren’t prepared! Which is better? not sure!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Liz! i’m really looking forward to the days off at the end of this week.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I totally get the running on fumes feeling — that’s been me for weeks! Hope this week goes better, Kim.
I don’t have my phone on at night, and I don’t have alerts on it either. My husband has his on, anyway, and I really wish he wouldn’t. We managed to survive in TX without that, but yeah, it could save lives.
We just got a lot of rain, but even then, it wasn’t as bad as expected.
kookyrunner says
Sorry to hear that you’re feeling the same way too 🙁 I hope that this week is going better for you!
Marcia says
Getting that phone alert while you’re asleep had to be terrifying. We tend to get them in the evening. Not fun. Great week of activity Kim! I don’t think I’ll ever enjoy either. Blech. Enjoy those days off!
kookyrunner says
Yes definitely super scary to get that alert, especially so early in the morning!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Those alerts are LOUD. I get the reason but they’re no fun when it is in the middle of the night. Great job this week with your workouts. No wonder you are tired! 🙂 I will take Cody’s Disney class. I like him and Disney too. Great combo.
kookyrunner says
Totally agree! Thankful to have those alerts but really hope I don’t hear another one for a long time!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
I hope you are feeling a bit more recharged now. I wonder if I would get one of those tornado messages on my phone. I used to have a paid weather app that had alerts but that no longer works. We actually had a deadly tornado come through a close by town and it killed a family whom I was friends with. It was devastating and I was really freaked out about that happening to us for a long time. It’s one of those things you never think will happen, and then something like that comes along.
kookyrunner says
Oh man, so sorry to hear about that tornado and the devastation it caused 🙁 I always get nervous around this time of year since it’s hurricane season and I worry about everyone living in areas most affected by hurricanes.
