Happy Sunday! This is the first week where I felt like the days went by so quickly. I attribute this to being very busy with work. Luckily after April I think the craziness will die down – finally!
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, April 13
Peloton 90’s Ride 2/22/20 – Cody (45 minutes)
Peloton Chest and Back Strength Workout 3/11/20 – Jess (15 minutes)
Peloton Hip Hop Fun Walk 2/13/20 – Jess (30 minutes)
#nevermissamonday! Determined to have a good week, I started off the day with a positive attitude and an hour of sweat. The cycle class had great music which was just what I needed for a boost of energy. After getting off my bike I did a quick strength training class that focused on arms.
The weather was pretty gross all day – lots of wind, rain and some flooding. It literally rained all day so I decided to do the Hip Hop Fun Walk on my treadmill during my lunch break.
Tuesday, April 14
5 mile treadmill run
Afternoon Walk (40 minutes)
This run was less than great because someone (and by someone I mean ME) indulged in one too many Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies the night before, lol. My stomach was not happy with me and let me know that during the run. Lesson learned!
Luckily the weather was much better and I was able to get out for a walk during lunch. I really value taking a walk in the middle of the day because it allows me to break up the work day, especially since I’ve been working 10 hour days on average.
Wednesday, April 15
Peloton BHM Celebration Ride 2/25/20 – Cody (45 minutes)
Peloton Soul Music Ride 3/13/20 – Ally (15 minutes)
After-work walk (30 minutes)
Luckily I was able to squeeze in this ride in-between conference calls. I woke up with terrible cramps so I couldn’t do my normal morning workout. After taking Midol I felt well enough to workout during my lunch hour.
Thursday, April 16
300 bodyweight exercises
3.1 mile run
Peloton Cool Down Walk 7/31/29 – Jess (10 minutes)
Afternoon walk (35 minutes)
I did the OTF DriTri (minus the rowing). I did this exact same workout 2 weeks ago. I think it’s a good workout to measure progress. I beat my previous time by 20 seconds. Not a huge improvement but it’s something! I also got out for a walk during my lunch break – it was super windy!
Friday, April 17
Peloton WHM Celebration Ride 3/6/20 – Tunde (30 minutes)
Peloton PyeongChange Ride 2/16/18 – Robin (30 minutes)
Peloton 200k Strong Strength Class 11/8/19 – Olivia (10 minutes
Peloton Full Body Strength 3/24/20 – Robin (20 minutes)
Yup, it was a Peloton day (as you can see)! I really love doing their cycle classes and strength classes together as it always gives me a really great workout. The PyeongChang Ride was amazing! Robin taught the class from Pyeongchang, South Korea during the 2018 Winter Olympics. Also I find a cool thread on reddit that listed all of the different digital Peloton badges that you can get for doing certain workouts, so I decided to take classes to get badges that I didn’t have. I was able to get 4 different badges that I didn’t have just by taking these classes.
I also decided to take a photo of this cute little owl that I see every day during my lunchtime or after work walks. He’s kind of weird looking but it’s always a bright spot during my daily walks.
Saturday, April 18
3.1 mile run
Classic Rock Yoga 5/4/19 – Kristin (30 minutes)
Another weekend, another virtual race! I ran the Race Against Hunger 5K to help benefit the Connecticut Food Bank. The race was $20 and all proceeds went to the food bank, which is amazing since the food banks here are struggling due to the increase in demand. It’s really incredibly sad but it’s just another unfortunate side effect of COVID-19.
I also did a yoga class when I got home from my run. Yoga really isn’t my thing but I knew that my body needed a good stretch. The music made the class go by pretty quickly, and it made it fun!
Sunday, April 19
Peloton Club Bangers Ride 5/5/18 – Alex (45 minutes)
Peloton Arms & Shoulder Strength 1/15/20 – Jess (15 minutes)
Thought about doing a run but wasn’t really feeling it so I decided to do a cycle class and a strength training class. I loved both and the arms and shoulders class was hard! My arms felt like jello by the end.
Also I discovered this morning that my Apple Watch is RUDE! It gave me this message because I normally work out in the morning but I didn’t today since I went to the supermarket.
I guess it didn’t consider my supermarket experience a good workout? But most importantly I scored toilet paper today which made me super happy (isn’t that so sad?)!
Total Weekly Mileage: 11.2 miles
Summary: 3 runs*, 6 cycle class and 4 Strength workouts.
*I include running from my OTF workouts and stand alone runs as well.
Grade This Week ā A
What a week! Not a lot of running and no OTF at home workouts, but I’m happy I was able to get in a bunch of workouts this week, even if this week was pretty rough. My sleep pattern was totally off this week. For some reason I would fall asleep around 10/10:30, then wake up about an hour later and not be able to fall back asleep for a few hours. Needless to say, it was hard for me to get up when my alarm went off at 6am. Usually I just turn my alarm off and get up within a minute or so but this week I ended up hitting snooze everyday. It’s hard because if I don’t get in my workout before logging in for work, I worry about not being able to fit it in. Hopefully this upcoming week will be much better!
On Friday we had pizza and game night in my house. It was nice to do something a little different and we had fun. We’ll probably try to do this again. I actually want to buy a few puzzles but haven’t been able to find any online. Has anyone had success ordering puzzles that will get shipped in a reasonable timeframe? I found a few but they wouldn’t be shipped out for a few weeks.
I also finished up the Ultra distance (31.1. miles) for OTF Marathon Month. Of course I’ll keep logging miles throughout the month since I always have a monthly goal of hitting at least 50 miles.
I know that there are a few people that read my blog that are new users to the Peloton app. This is why I have started included the names, dates and instructors for all of the Peloton classes that I took this week. That way if something sounds interesting, you can easily find it on the app!
…and because I always like to end my post with a little humor..
That’s it! I hope you had a great week š
Iām linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
In Case You Missed It
Tuesday Topics: Do you want to run any of the Abbott World Marathon Majors?
Marcia says
Omg that pigeon! So funny! I’m so impressed with that 12-pack of TP. That is a serious score. Looks like Peloton is hitting it out of the park with their app as well. Wish I’d have bought their stock. Haha!
kookyrunner says
That pigeon made my entire week, LOL. I was so excited about the 12 pack of TP. It confirmed to me that this pandemic has now made me crazy, haha.
Deborah Brooks says
This is the first week that I felt like the days went faster as well. 5 down and only 5 to go! You got in a great mix of classes this week. thanks for turning me onto Alex’s classes love them
kookyrunner says
So glad that you like Alex’s class! He always has such great energy when he teaches.
Laurie says
Your Peloton workouts are amazing! You are certainly getting your money’s worth out of Peloton. Good for you! The virtual food bank race is awesome. We just made a donation to our local food back. There was a newspaper article about them running low on food. Love that “ducking mad” meme. I need to find that one! š
kookyrunner says
Ohh definitely! I for sure neglected the Peloton bike and app because I was doing so many OTF classes sp I’m very glad to be getting back to both. Even when OTF is back open, I will still try to maintain the balance between both.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
High 5 for your 5k! I turned off the move alert on my Garmin but the watch face that I use still shows it, so yesterday a few hours into my epic couch sit after my half I noticed the alert and I was like really? because the first 30,000 steps I got this morning weren’t enough?
kookyrunner says
LOL, so I see that the apple watch just acts like a jerk toward everyone!
Wendy says
That pigeon made me LOL! LOL! Still laughing!
I love seeing what everyone is doing for their workouts! You reminded me, I need to try that classic rock yoga! Have a great week, Kim!
kookyrunner says
The pigeon meme pretty much made my week, LOL.
Let me know how you like the classic rock yoga class š
Kimberly Hatting says
I saw that lonely pigeon meme a few days ago, yes…totally funny š Glad you finally had a “fast” week! My weeks seem to be steady…not any slower/faster than normal, but definitely pretty fast-paced. Not complaining! Hope the new weeks goes well!!
kookyrunner says
I have the pigeon meme saved on my phone so that I can pull it up and look at it whenever I need a good laugh!
Coco says
I like the Pac-Man meme ā so true! I scored TP this weekend too, but didnāt we need any so I gave it to my mom.
Your post reminded my I forgot to do those dri try moves. I overdid with strength on Monday and had to recover after that. š
Great going on the 5K. The food bank our church supports is helping 5X the usual number of families.
kookyrunner says
So glad you were able to score some TP for your mom. It’s really like striking gold around here if you can find TP, lol
Wow – that’s crazy that your church food bank is helping 5x the usual number of families! I really feel that things will get worse as we go into the summer – it’s so sad.
Darlene says
The Peleton app has some great classes. That yoga one looks like fun. The running ones are good but they use up too much data outside.
Congrats on your virtual 5k.
I bough Girl Scout cookies at work. Thin mints. Hmm. I wonder if Iāll get them?
kookyrunner says
The yoga class was different but it definitely held my attention, which is hard for a yoga class to do for me, lol
Cari says
That pigeon. And ducking mad. LOL.
Glad you’re being such a good resource to new peloton users.
Like you I’m working long days and want to try and find a way to do lunch walks. It’s a challenge as our office culture doesn’t lend itself to lunch breaks, live or remote.
Mom just got a puzzle. I’ll ask her where. I feel like maybe Target
kookyrunner says
My phone always auto-corrects to “ducking” and it drives me crazy, lol.
Totally agree about carving out time during the work day. I feel like people are online at all hours now because we’re home an dI hate it. What I’ve started doing is looking at my calendar at the start of the day and then blocking out 30 minutes around normal “lunch hours” to get in my walk.
Cari says
Mom confirmed, target. Curbside pickup had no delivery fee.
I feel you. I started closing Chrome, which I primarily use for work, on the weekend and I haven’t put Slack on my phone. It’s the little disconnects. I have a 15m window typically, but 5th floor walkup eats much of that.
Ducking and sinks.
kookyrunner says
I wish our Target had curbside pick up! I actually havent been to Target since the whole thing started but I have ordered items from their website.
Cari says
oh boo. My UES one does, alas they didn’t have bowls so had those delivered
Catrina says
That angry little duckling was the best, haha!
Well done on all the Peloton workouts. I especially like that you found a list of all the different digital badges and are working on getting the missing ones. It’s amazing how stuff like that motivates us!
kookyrunner says
Haha right? His cute little mad face makes me laugh š
I’ve noticed that anything different is motivating me now, hence the Peloton badges. I never really cared about them before but now I do lol
Black Knight says
Congrats on your virtual race for a social cause. It’s important to help people in this moment of crises.
Sorry for the poor frustrated pigeon. Here they make some raids over the garden!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! It’s nice to try to focus on something that can help people during this crisis.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I used to hate when my Garmin would yell at me to move more! Especially if I did a long run that morning and then later in the day it would beep that I should get up and move. Um no lol. Great week of workouts despite your busy work schedule!
kookyrunner says
What is up with these watches?! They are so mean to us, lol
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
10 hour days are long! Add that to not sleeping well — you’re a rock star, Kim!
I still haven’t been shopping in an actual store. Still doing deliveries. I thought I might this week, but ugh! Everything has changed so much! Mr. Judy orders TP via Amazon.
Thanks for the humor! The ducks are so cute. š Poor pigeon!
kookyrunner says
Yeah last week was rough so I’m hoping for more sleep this week (fingers crossed). I had a good sleep last night so I’m off to a good start lol.
I really wish we could do grocery deliveries here but unfortunately all the slots are always taken š I’ve been averaging between 10-14 days in-between shopping trips which has been good so I don’t have to go there that often.
SJ says
You are rocking those classes. I totally feel you on the morning workout thing, and it really sucks for me becasue I actually prefer to workout in the afternoon. So it’s like this whole mental struggle, where I know I should do it in the mornings to make sure I get it in and wanting to do it on my own time. Not sure if that made sense but it’s how I feel. I love that ducking mad pic to cute.
kookyrunner says
Yup, totally! And before COVID-19 I did about half of my workouts after work but now that I’m working from home, I just want to get the workout done first thing in the morning!
Chaitali says
Great job with all those peloton classes this week! I love that little owl from your walks, so cute š
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I’m getting back into the Peloton classes and I love it!
Heather Hart says
The memes coming out of this whole ordeal have been keeping a smile on my face during a rough time! Way to get in a killer workout week! Seemingly everyone with a Peleton is definitely winning right now!
Chelsea says
Way to go on your virtual race!!! You had such a great week of workouts. I’m loving the One Peloton app for workouts too. I don’t have an actual Peloton bike but I’m using my indoor trainer with my road bike and it’s made for a great workout alternative to my normal running. I plan on trying one of their run classes this week!
Also, I scored some toilet paper this week too! Woo hoo! haha…who knew it’d be such a treat!
Those memes are the best!!!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Great job with your workouts! I wish I had a treadmill so that I could get a run going when I’m too lazy to go out lol. And a PR is a PR, 20 seconds is great!
I have to admit the pigeon made me chuckle!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Janelle. The pigeon meme has given me an unlimited amount of laughs, lol.
Great to “see you” on Saturday!
Debbie Woodruff says
Ha, I missed that pigeon meme! So funny! I have plenty of toilet paper but I still got excited last week when I saw some at Aldi in the middle of the afternoon! Woohoo! Maybe I’ll find some hand sanitizer one of these day!
kookyrunner says
The pigeon meme is amazing – I’m still laughing at it, lol.
I’m happy that I have hand sanitizer because I haven’t been able to find any of it since this started!
Jenn says
Yay for toilet paper! Yay for ducks!
You are crushing those Peloton workouts! Well done!
I saw the pigeon meme too and thought it was hilarious and a half. A positive attitude and a good laugh never hurt anyone, right?
kookyrunner says
I was way too excited for the toilet paper. Ohh the times we’re living in, lol.
I have to keep laughing and working out to get through all the craziness. If not I would probably just put my head under the covers and never leave!
Nick says
That was a hell of a workout week. I’m very jealous of your Pelton sessions. I’d love an indoor trainer right now.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Nick. I definitely feel very lucky to have a treadmill and the Peloton bike in the basement, especially for times like right now.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
OK, that pigeon meme…I’m still laughing!
You rocked all the Peloton workouts! And, I’m so glad you are posting the name of the classes – gives me ideas of ones to check out.
kookyrunner says
Same! I’ve laughed at it at least once a day lol.
Zenaida Arroyo says
You’re doing so great with your Peloton workouts!! I stocked up on TP back in early March so we have enough for now. Haha, those memes are hilarious!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! It’s been nice to get back into Peloton workouts lately.
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I’m so jealous that you have (had?) Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies. We didn’t buy any this year (no Girl Scouts came to our door) and I never saw any at the grocery store. Of course, we may have already been into the whole COVID-19 social distancing thing by the time the Girl Scouts usually sell cookies in front of the stores.
I laughed way too hard at those memes, too. š
kookyrunner says
Yup…the word now is “had” lol. I did pretty well because I purchased them in February but just finished them this month so I’m calling that a win.
Those memes make me laugh too – humor is super helpful during these times!
Liz Dexter says
Well done on getting that loo roll! I found EGGS for my husband the other week and felt like I’d basically won Wife of the Year …
I am a bit jealous of all the peleton folk although I am managing to run outside five mornings a week at the moment.
kookyrunner says
Isn’t it funny the things we get excited about these days? LoL
Jessie says
Love the owl. And the pigeon š Humor helps!
Way to stay dedicated to your fitness Kim!
kookyrunner says
Humor definitely helps a lot!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
I love that pic of the owl, it’s so cute!
And your memes are always so on point. I love that “ducking mad” one. My phone finally learned the actual word I’ve been trying to type but the bad part is that now if I type something similar it autocorrects to the F word so I have to be super vigilant about double checking before hitting send!
kookyrunner says
Love that you like the owl!
My phone will STILL auto correct to ‘ducking’ and it dries me crazy, but it also makes me laugh to be honest, lol.
