Happy Sunday. Well, the groundhog was certainly right. The weather this week was downright frightful for most of the country. We had a little bit of everything – snow, ice, rain, wind and then a random 50 degree day in the middle of the week. I’m sure we’ve all seen what Texas went through this week. My heart goes out to everyone there – being without heat, electricity and water in those weather conditions had to be extremely difficult. Thankfully they have warmer temps on the horizon!
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, February 15
Orangetheory Fitness – Power (45 minutes)
Peloton Speed Date Run 2/9/21 – Jess (20 minutes)
Peloton BHM: Listening Party 2/7/20 – Emma (20 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Ride 1/22/21 – Robin (20 minutes)
Peloton Yoga Flow 5/3/19 – Anna (30 minutes)
Happy President’s Day! I really don’t know why I get this day off work but I’m not complaining! It was nice to have a 3-day weekend. Started off the day with a great power day workout at OTF. The rowing block was intense but the rest of the class was fine. I did the 20 minute run once I got home to get in some extra mileage for the day and the cycle classes were fun too.
Tuesday, February 16
Peloton Pop Walk 8/30/20 – Matty (45 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Ride 1/12/21 – Tunde (20 minutes)
Peloton Full Body Strength Warm Up 11/12/20 – Jess (10 minutes)
Peloton Wicked Full Body Strength 1/21/21 – Matty (30 minutes)
No running today, but I spent a lot of time with Matty which is always a good time! I didn’t know that there were strength warm up classes (I’m always finding out something new on the app). I think this is great, especially for a longer strength class. I think I will need to try more of Matty’s strength classes because he always throws in moves that I haven’t done before. It’s a great way to keep things interesting!
Wednesday, February 17
Peloton Bootcamp Warm Up 2/2/21 – Matty (10 minutes)
Peloton Y2K Bootcamp 5/4/19 – Chase (30 minutes)
Pelton Run + Core 5/4/19 – Olivia (30 minutes)
Peloton BHM: Black on Broadway Ride 2/5/20 – Ally (20 minutes)
Peloton Post-Ride Stretch 2/5/21 – Ally (5 minutes)
Peloton Pop Yoga Flow 5/4/19 – Anna (30 minutes)
Chase’s bootcamps are always a good time. Olivia’s class was a little different as it was a 20 minute run and 10 minutes of core (most bootcamps are split 50/50 running/strength). She did a lot of intervals during the run portion which was a surefire way to wake me up that early in the morning, lol. The BHM: Black on Broadway ride was SO good! This was last year’s ride and I think Ally did another BHM: Black on Broadway ride last week so I can’t wait to take that one.
Today was also Ash Wednesday. Are you giving up anything for Lent. I’ll be giving up chips. I tend to snack at night so hopefully this will stop that activity, lol.
Thursday, February 18
Peloton Bootcamp Warm Up 2/16/21 – Jess (5 minutes)
Peloton Bootcamp: Arms & Shoulders 5/4/19 – Andy (30 minutes)
Peloton 80s Bootcamp 5/5/19 – Matty (30 minutes)
Peloton BHM: Funk Ride 10/23/20 – Leanne (30 minutes)
Luckily I was able to make my early morning dental appointment (6 month cleaning) before the snowstorm hit. I canceled my Thursday OTF class the night before because I figured the storm would be bad. I was right to do so since my studio ended up closing around noon anyway. Instead of OTF, I decided to do bootcamp classes since I feel those classes are similar to OTF workouts – both were good! Rounded out those workouts with a lunchtime cycle class.
We’re about halfway through the OTF Transformation Challenge and my coach had a cool idea to do a Zoom chat for our team. Only 3 of us joined, but it was fun and I really enjoyed the chat. I swear that my coach could have a second career as a motivational speaker. I felt really energized after speaking to her. I haven’t felt that way in a long time, probably months, so it’s a nice feeling to have again!
Friday, February 19
Peloton Pre-Run Warm Up 2/9/21 – Becs (5 minutes)
Peloton BHM Celebration Run 2/4/20 – Selena (45 minutes)
Peloton Mickey Guyton Ride 2/10/21 – Ally (30 minutes)
Peloton Mickey Guyton Yoga Flow 2/11/21 – Ross (30 minutes)
Another run, another glitch with the Peloton app/Apple watch. I lost over a mile of mileage when it reset after about 15 minutes. What’s very odd is that nothing else resets – the class keeps going and the calorie burn stays consistent – so I really don’t know what the issue is. It also seems to pick and choose when it wants to mess up since it was fine for the bootcamps on Thursday. Now I actually am annoyed that it keeps happening because it’s messing up my mileage for the Peloton February Running Challenge. Other than the mishap, the run was great and I really loved the music.
Saturday, February 20
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (45 minutes)
Peloton BHM: Pop Ride 2/17/20 – Ally (30 minutes)
Peloton Year of Yes Full Body Strength 12/20/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
It felt good to be back at OTF after having to miss Thursday’s class. The template had a very endurance type feel and the rowing and treadmills blocks really kicked my butt! I also really liked both Peloton classes I took when I got home after class.
Sunday, February 21
Orangetheory Fitness – Lift 45 (45 minutes)
Peloton BHM: Live DJ Ride 2/28/20 – Robin (45 minutes)
Peloton Flash 15 2/19/21 – Jess (15 minutes)
Peloton Yoga Flow 5/3/19 – Ross (30 minutes)
I didn’t feel like I got enough of a calorie burn during the Lift 45 class so I did a cycle and quick strength workout once I got home.
Also, happy vaccination day to my dad! Last Sunday night I checked the website to see if there were any earlier appointments and I was able to score one for this morning! The whole process was really well organized and the staff and volunteers were super nice.
Total Weekly Mileage: 13 miles
Summary: 9 runs*, 4 bootcamps, 8 cycle, 4 yoga and 6 OTF/strength classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 221/222
Grade This Week – A
Overall a pretty good week! I wasn’t super sore at all this week (unlike last week). I’ll attribute that to more cycle and yoga classes.
Last year I signed up for the Philly Love Run, but of course it was re-scheduled. First it was re-scheduled from last March to the Fall, then it was scheduled for March of this year. It’s now been re-scheduled again to this Fall. I actually opted to defer my entry to the March 2022 date as I still don’t know what racing will look like for a large race in a large city this Fall. I’m a little annoyed with the race organization because their communication has been horrendous. I only found out about the new date when I checked their Facebook page as they haven’t sent any email communications. They are also not offering refunds and I don’t want to run a virtual half marathon, so I’ll just wait until next year’s date.
…and now for this week’s memes 🙂
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I had President’s Day off as well and am not complaining! The next holiday won’t be for awhile….so good to break things up!
Yay for your dad getting the vaccine!
Giving up chips would be hard for me. I’m all about salty snacks, but could easily give up sweets!
kookyrunner says
Same here! I may take off Good Friday depending on how my workload looks around that time. Our next official day off isn’t until Memorial Day!
I’m such a huge snacker that giving up chips is always hard for me, but I know that is even more reason for me to do it, lol.
Liz Dexter says
A good strong week and yay vaccine! I think I know more people who have been vaccinated than have had covid now, which feels like turning a real corner.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Liz! I agree – I keep learning of more and more people that have been vaccinated and it gives me hope. Light at the end of the tunnel!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Glad you were able to get an appointment for your dad! I didn’t give up anything for Lent this year. It kind of snuck up on me. Good for you for giving up chips!
kookyrunner says
Giving up chips it hard since I’m such a huge snacker but I know it’s for the best, lol.
Kimberly Hatting says
HA ha ha ha … the waking for pee, then staying awake (bladder vs. brain) is SO true. I’m glad it worked out for your dad to get his shot. My parents got their first shots last Wednesday, so that’s a nice feeling. What is up with the weather? Momma N is having some attitude…
kookyrunner says
LOL it literally happens to me every other night – I even try to make sure I don’t drink a lot of water before bed but it still happens. You’re so right – it’s a really nice feeling that my dad is one step closer to being vaccinated!
Wendy says
In healthcare, we don’t get any of those Monday holidays off, lol. Actually, I think there are only 6 official holidays and believe it or not, Easter is not one of them. But Christmas is. How do they decide?
Glad to hear your dad got the vaccine! My parents and my FIL got their first one as well.
Love the memes. I’m going to send the adult lunchable one to my oldest, lol! Have a great week Kim!
kookyrunner says
I also wonder how they decide which holidays are ‘off’ holidays. For example, the supermarkets here are open on Thanksgiving but not on Christmas, and one supermarket is also closed on Easter. This year my birthday is on Holy Thursday so I may take that day and Good Friday off.
So happy to hear that your parents and FIL all got shot #1!!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
What a bummer about your Apple watch and your runs not counting. I’m all about technology until it doesn’t work and then I hate it! LOL
Great job on your variety of workouts last week.
Love that bladder/brain meme! So true!
kookyrunner says
Yeah I’m not sure what’s happening. I considering resetting my watch but I don’t want to mess anything up on it lol.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
That’s great that you got your Dad vaccinated! I’ve heard that once you actually score an appt, the process itself is organized. It’s just getting the damned appointment — then again, it’s not something I’ve even looked into, I’m not eligible.
That’s so cool about the Zoom call with your coach! So glad that she got you all fired up. 🙂
50????? Wow. If we get almost to freezing — or over — it’s a banner day! it’s supposed to get into the 40s one day next week. Party!
kookyrunner says
It was the highlight of my week! I’m so glad that he’s one step closer to being fully vaccinated. I can definitely agree with what people say about getting the appointment being complicated, but the process being way more organized.
I really enjoyed the Zoom call! IT was over an hour and it was really encouraging. She’s a great coach.
Marcia says
So glad your dad was able to get the vaccine and that it all went smoothly. That’s a big win! Great week of workouts for you. How cool your coach was willing to hold a Zoom meeting. That’s so nice!
kookyrunner says
For sure, that was the highlight of my week! I was so impressed with how organized it was once we arrived at the hospital.
Deborah Brooks says
Yay for your dad getting the vaccine! My parents are fully vaccinated now but I am not sure they are ever leaving their house again. I see you like to do the warm up classes as well. I find it hard to find them-there are tons of cool downs and post ride stretches but not too many pre/warm ups . Thanks for the smiles as always with your memes
kookyrunner says
Awwe that makes me sad 🙁 I hope that eventually your parents will feel safe enough to leave the house, even if it’s just to go to a local restaurant.
I agree that there aren’t many warm up classes. What I ended up doing was scrolling through all of them and bookmarking them so that I can find them easier.
Jenny says
You are very self-sacrificing and courageous to give up chips for lent! Why are they so addictive? I’ve also been forced to count myself as a “family” every now and then. Sounds like you had a great week!
kookyrunner says
Seriously?! Why are chips not only delicious, but come in so many yummy flavors? I especially enjoy kettle chips because they are super crunchy.
Michelle D. says
Great collection of memes this week 🙂
Another awesome week of workouts for you! Seriously, how do you do all of those Peloton classes after OTF! I did not know there are strength warm-up classes – I will have to search for those.
So glad your dad got his first shot and that the process went smoothly.
kookyrunner says
I like doing the cycle classes after OTF because they really help with the soreness in my legs for some reason – I can’t explain it, lol. The strength warm up class was good! It really gives your body time to get prepared for a longer strength class.
Coco says
Those last two memes! The work one is real. The other is just too funny! You had such a fantastic week of workouts. I do miss the ono-on-one motivation of my in-person classes. Maybe by fall ….
kookyrunner says
I don’t mind working out at home but I do like having the change to take OTF classes with coaches. There’s just something about working out with other people in a class atmosphere.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
Note to self: get a job that has President’s Day off. And move somewhere with random 50 degree days;-) But seriously, I’m so glad that your dad was able to get his vaccine. And sadly it sounds like a good call to defer your race to 2022.
kookyrunner says
Yeah, even if I’m able to get the vaccine by then, I don’t think I’ll feel comfortable doing a large race like that in the Fall.
Darlene S Cardillo says
Good news about your Dad. The first appt is the hardest. Easy peasy after that.
I have yet to try a peleton walk…this week I hope.
We have lousy weather today and tomorrow – snow, sleet, wind. But 40 on Wed. Woo Hoo.
I hate when there are no refunds or deferrals. Ii had that several times last year and I had no choice to run it virtually. Never again.
kookyrunner says
You would think the races would have more flexibility about their refund policies due to everything that happened last year – kind of a bummer.
Jenn says
Oh, that app glitch would really boil my bacon! Super aggravating, especially since you are laying down such incredible numbers!
We are technically Catholic, but I don’t give up anything for Lent. Chips would be hard. I am in full time snacking mode over here.
kookyrunner says
Every night since Wednesday I have wanted chips so giving them up has been hard!
Zenaida Arroyo says
I was also off on Monday and no complaints there. I went ahead and bookmarked a few of Matty’s walk classes. Thanks! I am not much of a walker but would like to add a variety of workouts to my schedule. I just noticed that in the filter option you can select any classes that you have not taken. Is that something new? I think it is a cool feature!
kookyrunner says
I like to add in the powerwalks every now and then, especially when I just don’t feel like running. It’s still a good way to get in my steps and do a low impact workout.
i think they added the “classes not taken” filter option sometime last year – it’s super useful!
Renée @runlaugheatpie says
good week! bummer that you are having a glitch with the app /watch though! ugh! my bike is also glitching now, but we think it’s just a wire that’s a bit loose (possibly from a cat…).
So so glad your dad got his jab!
Loving the memes, especially the chips and the “not a problem at all”. hahaha!
kookyrunner says
I hope that the loose wire issue isn’t too bad. It’s so annoying when technology doesn’t do what we want it to do, lol.
I love the chips meme too – one of my favorites, lol
