Happy Sunday! Well things have certainly changed a lot over the past week! No need to get into specifics since we’re all dealing with the same craziness, but man did this week feel like a month. I was so exhausted by the end of my workday on Friday that I just binge watched trashy reality TV for the rest of the night. It was all my brain could handle!
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, March 16
Orangetheory Fitness – Infinity Workout (60 minutes).
This workout was SO much fun, but hard. It was a good prep for the Dri Tri (which has been postponed). Lots of sweat and splat points. I was glad that I went to the 7am class because the state of Connecticut closed all gyms later on that day š
I also did my final weigh-in for the Transformation Challenge. Overall, not bad since I lost fat and gained muscle, but I still want to lower that body fat percentage number.
Tuesday, March 17
OTF Friday the 13th Workout (at home) – 60 minutes.
First day without OTF š I decided to start off my day by repeating the OTF workout from Friday. I was able to do the treadmill (1 minute all out, 1 minute walking recovery, 3 min run for distance and 1 minute walking recovery) and floor portions (burpees, froggers, bicep curls, tricep extensions and squat jumps) but for the rower I ran 0.1 on the treadmill instead of rowing 100 meters. It was a killer workout!
Wednesday, March 18
Peloton Club Bangers Cycle Class (45 minutes) + OTF at Home Workout.
This was a really fun ride. My legs need a break from running but I still wanted to get a good cardio workout. I also did the first OTF at Home workout. OTF is providing everyone (not just members) access to their daily 30-35 minute at home workouts. I really appreciate that they are doing this to help keep us active while the studios are closed. You can access the free workouts on the OTF app or on the Orangetheory Fitness YouTube channel.
Thursday, March 19
3 mile run + OTF at Home Workout + 5 minute upper body workout.
I did another “copycat” OTF workout at home. I used a treadmill template from an OTF class in early March. The treadmill was a 3 minute push pace, 1 minute base base, 1 minute all out and 1 minute walking recovery. I repeated that 5x and then did the OTF at Home workout of the day.
Friday, March 20
ESP Treadmill Workouts + OTF at Home Workout.
Another copycat OTF workout – the treadmill portion included endurance, strength and power blocks. The OTF at home workout had an even mix of arm and leg exercises which was great.
Also, the OTF studios in the TriState area (Connecticut, New Jersey and New York) started a 2 week #OTFTriState Challenge. They are encouraging members to workout 3x a week and post their stats on Instagram. They also gave us this awesome graphic to use to mark down our workouts.
Saturday, March 21
5 mile run + OTF at Home Workout.
It was nice to see my friends for a group run. We did try to adhere to the 6 feet distance rule while running so I hope that we didn’t break any rules? I had a really good run and ran longer, and faster, then anticipated. The head coach from my studio did the OTF at Home workout live on Instagram so I tuned in to do that with him – it was fun!
Sunday, March 22
90s Peloton Cycle (45 minutes) + OTF at Home workout (strength portion).
This was a fun class and a few of my Instagram Peloton buddies joined me live for the ride š I wore my OTF Heart Rate Monitor during my cycle class and I couldn’t get in the orange zone, so no splat points. It’s odd because I felt like I was killing myself on the bike. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow’s workout.
For every class taken this weekend, Peloton is donating $1 to the Food Bank for New York City, up to $500,000. I was more than happy to do my part and take a class this weekend to support this cause.
Total Weekly Mileage: 14.7 miles
Summary: 5 runs*, 2 cycle classes, 4 OTF at home workouts and 1 OTF studio workout
*I include running from my OTF workouts and stand alone runs as well.
Grade This Week ā A
What a crazy week! I am proud of myself for still getting in quality workouts even though things are so different. I’ve also been keeping in touch with my OTF Stamford family which has been nice (we’re all in this together)! I’m working from home until at least the end of the month but I have a feeling this will last into April, and maybe May. Pretty much everything in my state is shut down except for “essential businesses” – supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, etc. While I don’t mind working from home, I’m not sure how I’ll feel about doing it for weeks at a time. I do miss the office atmosphere and seeing other people throughout the day. One thing I did each day this week was to get out for a walk outside either during my lunch hour or right after work. The 30-60 minutes of fresh air really helps!
I know that we’re all practicing “social distancing”, but I actually felt more connected to people this week, and way more social. I feel like I have connected to more people virtually via Instagram and I even had a “social happy hour” with some friends earlier in the week. We had drinks and talked for about 2 hours. It was great. Next week we’re going to do a virtual dinner date (we’re having tacos)! I think that the more we can make an effort to stay connected, the stronger we will all be when all of this is over. I’m really making the effort to text/call/facetime people more than I have in the past. These are hard times but we will get through this.
…and because I think we could all use some humor after this week, I will leave you with this:
That’s it! I hope you had a great week š
Iām linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I agree, I feel like we’ve all been much more social at a distance. It’s been fun to catch up with friends that I haven’t talked to in a while and of course I love the blogs (and the instagrams) more than ever now. You’ve done a great job with keeping OTF going at home, congrats on that!
kookyrunner says
I’m glad that you feel the same way!
Wendy says
Oh, Prince!! Don’t you miss him? I remember seeing him in concert in the 80s when I was at college in Milwaukee. He wasn’t really famous then and it was an amazing show.
Glad you’ve been able to keep up with your OTF workouts! And having the peloton helps too.
kookyrunner says
I miss Prince! That meme made me laugh for a good 2 minutes haha.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Your post has got me smiling!! And LOL at Prince!! And… the workout with the kid as a weight? Love it! š Thanks for letting us know about the free OTF workouts. I’ve been intrigued at what OTF consists of, so now I can check them out! Great job getting all of the workouts in this week. Way to be creative!
kookyrunner says
I’m glad my post made you smile – we all need some laughter nowadays! I was happy to see that OTF was offering the at home workouts for free. I hope people will try out the classes!
Kimberly Hatting says
I’m gonna look into that Peloton app. I’ve been doing daily abs (for Lent) and I’m needing a bit more variety. I also think I’m feeling closer to my friends, especially my online babes. This is a weird time, but we all got each other’s backs!
kookyrunner says
Definitely check out the Peloton app. They are offering it for free for 90 days š I think you would really like the strength workouts on the app.
Jessie says
I’m so impressed by how much OTF you can do at home! I’m sure its not quite the same as in the studio, but it looks pretty close! Love the Prince meme š
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jessie! It’s definitely not the same but I’m trying really hard to keep myself accountable while I’m home.
Laurie says
So glad you can continue to do your OTF classes at home. That is awesome. I agree with you – thank goodness we have social media to keep in touch. I have been texting and calling ffreinds and family nore than usual this week too.
And oooh…that Prince. So sexy! š
kookyrunner says
Thanks Laurie! It’s definitely not the same as being in the studio but it’s movement!
Darlene says
You are doing great with your new normal.
Iām not doing as well. I donāt own a treadmill or bike. Luckily the weather was nice this week. But snow is coming tomorrow.
My friends did not want to run even 6 feet a part. Sigh. I had to run alone. Not fun.
We did a Zoom call with some friends. Gotta love technology.
kookyrunner says
I love that technology has the ability to keep us all connected during these crazy times!
We have had snow/rain/sleet all day today which has been a bummer, but hopefully the weather for the rest of the week will be good.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
That Prince meme is priceless š
You did great with your new normal this week! I haven’t looked at the OTF at home workouts yet but will check them out – I miss my classes!
kookyrunner says
That Prince meme gets me every time, LOL. We need a little laughter to get through this craziness.
Jenn says
I love how the gyms are offering virtual options for their clients, and in some cases, the general public. It’s just such a great way to connect.
I don’t know that I’ve bee more social. The boys are both such extroverts that I’m a bit drained and feel more withdrawn. It will be a learning curve for sure.
kookyrunner says
Me too! It’s a great way to keep the members and staff connected!
Cari says
I definitely feel you on the more connected. I’ve facetimed my brother and best friend so often this week.
Nicely done by OTF to keep people engaged and exercising. I’ll have to make sure a Texas friend knows about the online access — she was lamenting falling off.
The daily walks are key – for me it’s even just for morning coffee. A dose of normalcy
kookyrunner says
Thank goodness for technology to keep us connected virtually! It looks like we will need to rely on it for the next few weeks at least.
I am also glad that OTF is offering at home workouts and that they are free and open to the public.
Coco says
Wow, Kim, you did FANTASTIC with the transformation challenge! I know you were killing it, but glad your efforts paid off! Great idea to combine the OTF at home workouts with a previous treadmill template. I donāt like the long instructional sections on the at home workouts. I should just find the template and do it on my own. š
kookyrunner says
Thanks Coco! I was actually a little disappointed in the final numbers but your comment made me feel better š
For the OTF at home workouts I just screenshot the moves on my phone and then do them to my own music in the background, lol. But I find that I need to combine them with something else if I want to get my splat points.
Deborah Brooks says
You really have been crushing your OTF workouts and challenges. I may have to try it again once life resumes to normal. Way to go this week on merging all of your virtual workouts. Thanks for joining us and have a great and healthy week ahead
kookyrunner says
Thanks Deborah! It’s hard for me to solely do at home workouts because I like the social aspect of group fitness classes. It’s going to be a learning curve but I will adjust!
Catrina says
Well done for doing the OTF workouts from home! So nice that so many studios are providing free workout videos that people can do from home.
I love seeing how this virus drama is bringing out the goodness in people.
Have a great home office week and keep up the virtual happy hours/dinner parties!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Catrina! I’m so glad that OTF and a bunch of other gyms are providing free workouts to help people keep up their fitness at home!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Its great that you can still do similar OTF workouts at home! Ive also been getting out for daily walks and it helps so much.Glad you could get in a group run while also practicing social distancing!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Lisa! I’m thankful to OTF for providing the at home workouts. I’ve also been getting out for daily walks – well not today because it’s snowing – but hopefully I can continue tomorrow lol.
Liz Dexter says
Wow, getting body fat percentage down is really hard and you’re doing well at that! I also love your socially distanced run pic. I was just saying all the peleton folk are going to be happy they shelled out and can do that at home. We’re going to excavate the cross trainer; I think I can balance my Kindle on it, or I certainly hope so!
I am pulling back from running blogs for a bit as the info on the restrictions is so sapping and sad, but do keep in touch if possible!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Liz! I probably should have tightened up my diet those last 4 weeks but it is what it is, lol. I’m just glad the number kept going down. Let’s hope it doesn’t go back up – I’ve been snacking way too much since working from home so that changes as of today!
I agree that information – via blogs or news – can be depressing. What I’ve started to do is look for stuff that brings me joy and that includes any type of cooking or animal social media posts. You can’t help but feel good while looking at a photo of puppies š
Hannah says
Great job keeping up with the workouts! It is going to be weird working from home indefinitely.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Hannah! Yeah WFH for so long will be different – we will all have to adjust for sure!
Vanessa Junkin says
The social happy hour sounds fun! Iām doing a couple virtual book clubs with friends this week, and it will be so nice to connect with people face-to-face!
kookyrunner says
I love the idea of a virtual book club!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Well, I was already calling my mom daily. I’m messaging with a few friends. Seriously, though, I’m actually working on stuff too!
You had great results from your transformation challenge. I wonder what my BF% is, it’s been a while since I had it taken.
And thanks for letting us know about the free OTF workouts! I’ll probably never have the $$ to join but I’ll check out their YT Channel.
kookyrunner says
I hope that you get a chance to check out the OTF workouts. Let me know what you think!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
You should be really proud of yourself for getting in so many great workouts during trying times. It’s tough, but I think it helps us keep our sanity. I, too, have been trying to connect more with my friends now that we can’t get together – even friends who I wouldn’t have seen if this social distancing thing wasn’t happening.
Have a great week and stay safe!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Deb. I just hope that I can continue to be consistent. Moving my body always makes me feel good so I know that’s the one constant I can rely on right now.
