Happy Sunday! How is everyone doing? I’ll admit that the later part of this week has been a little tough for me. I keep waiting to have one week of peace since the pandemic started but it seems like there’s always something bad/sad right around the corner. Sometimes it’s hard to stay positive when there is so much sadness and injustice in the world, but I have to believe that things will improve at some point.
One thing I’m somewhat happy about is August coming to a close. I’m more than ready for all things Fall – cooler weather, leaves changing colors and pumpkin everything.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, August 24
Peloton Warm Up Run 10/24/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
Peloton Advanced Full Body Bootcamp 10/26/19 – Jess (60 minutes)
Peloton Cool Down Run 8/22/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
Peloton Billie Eilish Yoga Flow 1/25/20 – Anna (45 minutes)
It probably wasn’t a good idea to do another 60 minute bootcamp class so soon after the #Saturday60 bootcamp class but I wanted to challenge myself. Since it was an advanced bootcamp class it really challenging. At one point on the treadmill I think my soul left my body, lol. I took a yoga class later on that day to help myself decompress.
Tuesday, August 25
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (45 minutes)
Peloton Hip Hop Ride 4/2/20 – Kendall (30 minutes)
It was Rockstar Day at my OTF studio. I’m always down for a theme day so I was happy to dress up for the class. Besides my lightning bolt earrings stabbing me during the treadmill run, it was a fun class! The playlist for the hip hop ride was really good so I enjoyed that class as well.
Wednesday, August 26
Orangetheory Fitness – Power (45 minutes)
Peloton Rock Run 8/24/20 – Becs (30 minutes)
Peloton Madonna Yoga Flow 6/27/19 – Ross (45 minutes)
This was a nice fast paced class and I really enjoyed it. Lots of sprints (all outs) on the treadmill and rower. I don’t usually do back-to-back OTF classes anymore so I was definitely sore after class. The rock run class that I took once I got back home was fun because it was more grunge rock songs from the 90s so I knew most of them. I decided to do the Madonna yoga class later on in the afternoon because I knew my body needed a good stretch and I want to listen to some fun songs.
Thursday, August 27
Peloton Trap Fun Run 5/14/19 – Jess (30 minutes)
Peloton The Weeknd Ride 8/26/20 – Jess K (30 minutes)
Peloton The Weeknd Full Body Stretch 8/26/20 – Jess (15 minutes)
I’ll be honest, I really didn’t want to workout. It took me a while to roll out of bed. I didn’t do my planned workout because I was tired but still got a good sweat with all of these classes. The 15 minute stretch class was really good, especially for my upper body and hips.
Friday, August 28
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance (45 minutes)
Peloton The Weeknd Run 8/27/20 – Chase (30 minutes)
Peloton The Weeknd Yoga Flow 8/27/20 – Anna (30 minutes)
Even though I was pretty sore, I had two really good workouts. It was an endurance day at OTF which meant longer pushes on the treadmill and no walking recovery breaks. These workouts are normally hard but luckily I used my Body Helix face mask so I was able to breathe a little easier. I did a 30 minute run once I got back home and the playlist/instructor were both great! The yoga class helped my body feel less tight, especially my hamstrings.
Saturday, August 29
Peloton Hip Hop Run 8/20/20 – Jess (20 mins)
Peloton Trap Run 8/25/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
Peloton Intervals & Arms Ride 7/18/20 – Cody (45 minutes)
Peloton Pop Ride 8/8/20 – Cody (15 minutes)
For some reason Chadwick Boseman’s death on Friday hit me hard – I guess you just never know what will make you very emotional. I was up most of the night and only got a few hours of sleep. I was up early and just decided to workout. I couldn’t do the #Saturday60 live so I decided to spend some time with my two favorite instructors because they always offer words of wisdom and positivity.
Sunday, August 30
Peloton Bodyweight Bootcamp 8/29/20 – Jess (60 minutes)
Peloton Carnival Celebration Ride 8/29/20 – Hannah F (30 minutes)
Peloton Melissa Etheridge Yoga Flow 12/14/19 – Kristin (45 minutes)
I had to switch gears this morning due to a network outage that affected Peloton’s live classes this morning. I think it’s fixed now, but it affected a bunch of other companies too (Starbucks, Garmin, etc). I had planned to take a live 30 minute bootcamp class after Jess’s 60 minute bootcamp, but due to the outage, I hopped on the bike to take a really fun ride. Finished out the morning with a yoga class.
Total Weekly Mileage: 25 miles
Summary: 12 runs*, 5 cycle, 2 bootcamp, 4 yoga and 3 OTF/strength/HITT classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 127/128
Grade This Week β A
I’m currently at 97 miles for the month so it looks like I’ll hit my 100 mile goal for August – thank goodness we have 31 days this month. I haven’t done a 100 mile month since last year but it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be – it just took a little more planning on my part to make sure I averaged a good amount of miles per week. Next month I’ll back off the running a little bit since I’ll be doing the Power Zones cycling training.
…and now for this week’s meme collection..
That’s it! I hope you had a great week π
Iβm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

The news about Chadwick Boseman was so sound. Always so sad when someone so talented dies so young. π
I did a 60 min boot camp with Jess Sims too. Except I modify it β my treadmill doesnβt go up & down anymore! Definitely felt that one.
Have a great week, Kim!
kookyrunner says
Yes, the fact that he was so young made it even more shocking and super sad.
How did you enjoy Jess’s bootcamp? I really like them and she is so motivating.
Wendy says
It’s really such a hard time, isn’t it? I feel like every day, there’s something new and horrible. That Jacob Blake shooting really got to me and the 17 year old vigilante even more so. I lived in the town he is from when I was young. It’s just hitting so close to home. <3 Thank goodness for our workouts.
Sorry we had the same portapotty meme this week-I used it to illustrate a point I was trying to make. I love your memes, wouldn't ever try to steal your thunder!
kookyrunner says
Yes! The goodness for our workouts because that’s the only way I feel that I can get out any type of aggression/anger. Part of me wants to completely stop watching the news but then I don’t because I still want to be informed about everything going on in the world.
I think both os us finding the same meme, especially this week, makes total sense – and shows we have the same humor LOL.
Liz Dexter says
I am finding everything too much too. I was reading an article about Surge Capacity which hit home – we can’t work at this high level of stress for longer than x amount and that’s why it’s so tiring now. Plus everything does seem to be awful. Well done on your upcoming 100 mile month – with all the rest you do, that’s amazing. I’ve got one in but I only run! though I am building up to doing the 30 day peleton trial …
kookyrunner says
I never really thought about that, but you’re so right. I feel like I’ve been high stress/high anxiety since March/April so it’s no wonder I’m feeling very close to the breaking point by now. I’ve been trying to find different ways to decompress but it doesn’t always work unfortunately.
Please let me know if you have any questions once you start your Peloton trial!
Liz Dexter says
Ah, thank you, I will do, that’s very useful! I have sent in to ask them if it will be OK to use a cross-trainer or recumbent bike rather than upright bike as that’s what I’ve got … but I’m assuming it will be OK as I can just change the resistance like on a bike.
kookyrunner says
That should be okay. I don’t have their treadmill, but I still do a bunch of the walking, running and bootcamp classes on the app. I just try to mimic the speed and incline that the instructors call out.
Deborah Brooks says
It has been a tough few weeks on many fronts. Ugh. Thank ful for this group to share the good stuff. You are crushing your workouts this summer. Way to go on the 100 miles. Good luck w PZ
kookyrunner says
Same – I’m thankful for this amazing group of ladies. It always gives me some normalcy in a time that is so abnormal.
Coco says
OK, I definitely feel like that last meme sometimes, plugging away at work in my basement while the world comes crashing down around me.
Chadwick Boseman was so young. And so talented. And generous with his time and talent.
Thinking about his family keeping his cancer struggle from the public makes me feel for them even more. It sounds like Jess did some tributes to him in yesterdayβs Saturday 60, so Iβll probably brave that one to sweat it out β and shed some tears.
I enjoyed The Weekend run and stretch too. Was going to try Adrianβs bootcamp until it was canceled. I got a message from our work IT team saying a major fiber optic cable was cut somewhere? #Thanks2020
kookyrunner says
Right? I usually feel that way about once a week, especially if I’m working past 5 and have the news on my TV.
My heart is so broken for Chadwick’s friends and family. He was so young which makes it even more tragic. Jess did speak about him during this week’s class and it was really nice – she always has a way of delivering her messages in the best way.
Unfortunately I don’t think that Adrian is going to do The Weeknd Bootcamp class from what I can see on his IG stories. He said the class was cancelled and encouraged everyone to take all the other The Weekend classes.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Yes it’s all starting to feel like too much – there was something about Chadwick Boseman’s death at such a young age that really pushed me to the edge.
That scented candle meme pretty much sums up this year!
Congrats on reaching your goal of 100 miles – you have been crushing your workouts!
kookyrunner says
I agree – the fact that he was so young and that he dealt with cancer for multiple years – it’s just all so tragic and sad but I hope that he is at peace now.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
High 5 on your century this month! I’m one mile away from beating my highest monthly mileage ever and I am really shocked that August of all months is when that happened.
kookyrunner says
Thanks, and an early congratulations to you on hitting your highest mileage month ever!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Its really been tough all around lately. What a crazy year! I love your meme about forgetting how to socialize. I am really going to struggle whenever I start seeing people in real life again!
kookyrunner says
I am as well! Even just thinking about going back to the office in January makes me nervous. Granted I would still work from home some days but it will still feel so odd being in an office.
Kimberly Hatting says
Chadwick Boseman’s death was a shocker, and such a tragedy. I had a crappy night of sleep on Friday as well…but mine was due to the late night at the football game and not getting home until around 1:45 in the morning. Anyways, you rocked your workouts this week, and your running mileage is awesome…well done!!
kookyrunner says
Yeah it was just a hard week and weekend overall. So much sadness all around π
Marcia says
Omg that dog meme is my life right now. So pathetic it’s almost humorous. I too was so sad at the news about Chadwick Boseman. Congrats on just about wrapping up 100 miles this month. That’s awesome!
kookyrunner says
The dog meme is probably my favorite because I really do feel that way sometimes plugging away on my laptop while the outside world is crumbling.
Darlene S Cardillo says
Love that you are going to OFT in person. Human interaction is so important.
100 miles. That is awesome. I’m not running as much these days but still trying to keep active.
kookyrunner says
Definitely! Although we’re spaced apart it’s still nice to actually see other people and talk to them. Sometimes it’s hard to understand people because of the masks but we make it work!
Jenn says
I love your weekly meme fest! You always have a few I haven’t seen yet!
That being said, Thursdays and Fridays usually get me down. I love the weekends, and yet, they just aren’t as fun as they used to be. Blah. It’s ok, though.
You had a great variety again this week. Between OTF and Peloton, I don’t see how you could ever really get bored!
kookyrunner says
I understand what you mean about Thursday/Fridays. The weekends can feel like the weekdays a lot of the time.
Cari says
*HUGS*
Chadwick Boseman was so young, and amazing how much he did while battling physical health and internet bullying.
SMall talk sucks. So stealing that meme.
Way to go on 100 mile month! When times are normal-ish, we need to do a Mile HIgh Run Club class. You’ll love the music
kookyrunner says
Thanks Cari. Last week was just rough π Mile High Run Club sounds like fun – I’d totally be interested in that.
Cari says
It’s a 2021 plan!
Zenaida Arroyo says
What a week! Awesome about your 100 miles in August! You’ve been doing great with all of your workouts.
The news about Chad was sad. I loved him in Black Panther and had NO idea he was battling cancer. I love the story/interview he gives about Denzel Washington.
I also took one of Bec’s running class and enjoyed it. I usually take Matty’s but am always looking for other instructors’ as well.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Zenaida! I was able to hit 100 miles in August but probably won’t hit that monthly mileage again for a while, lol.
Glad that you enjoyed Becs running class!
