Baby, it’s cold outside! That was definitely the theme for this week. It was so cold during the week that I couldn’t take any lunchtime walks. My job is located not too far from the water so when it’s cold outside it seems EXTRA cold there!
Despite the weather, it was a good week. I worked out every day and actually felt pretty good during all my workouts except Saturday’s run (didn’t sleep that great on Friday night). I did 4 runs this week and my PF didn’t flare up at all so I’m thrilled about that. For some reason it did bother me a little on Friday’s walk, but maybe that’s because I was on my feet for a longer period of time? I’m not really sure but I’m going to continue doing all of my pre-hab exercises.
Here were my workouts for this week:
Monday, January 14
4.5 mile run + 5 minute post run stretch (Peloton) + resistance band workout (10 mins)
Started off the with a great run. This run felt really strong.
Tuesday, January 15
90’s spinning class (45 minutes) + hip hop spinning class (45 minutes) + 5 minute post-ride stretch (Peloton)
I felt like I needed a really good sweat when I got home from work so I doubled up on my Peloton spinning classes. To say my legs felt like jello by the end of the 90 minutes is an understatement.
Wednesday, January 16
2 mile run + total body workout (40 minutes)
I skipped my weekly boot camp class and decided to take a strength type class on the Gixo app. Through my affiliation with FitApproach, I was able to take a free class on the app. I was really impressed with the coaching I received throughout the class and I would definitely recommend the app. If you’ve never used Gixo and want to try a free class, send me a direct message on Instagram (I have a code that I can give to ONE person)!
Thursday, January 17
3 mile run + hip hop spinning class (30 minutes)
I was able to squeeze in this workout during my lunch break. The spinning class was actually live which was super fun. I was happy with what I was able to accomplish in an hour!
Friday, January 18
Core strength class (10 minutes) + 1 hour walk
This was technically my rest day but I felt the need to get in some movement.
Saturday, January 19
4 mile run + 5 minute post run stretch + HIIT cardio class (15 minutes)
I decided to get in a workout before the impending storm. It was actually a balmy 24 degrees which was pretty perfect for running and I warmed up quickly.
Sunday, January 20
Strength training (15 minutes) + Peloton Live DJ Ride (45 minutes)
Luckily the storm wasn’t nearly as bad as expected, but I still opted for an indoor workout. Unfortunately we’re getting buckets of rain today which will turn to ice overnight once the temps drop. Will definitely need to be careful tomorrow, that’s for sure!
Total Weekly Mileage: 13.5 miles
Summary: 4 runs, 4 spinning classes, 1 HIIT class, 2 strength training classes and 1 core class
Grade This Week ā A
I’m happy with my workouts this week. I feel like I tried to get a little bit of everything. I still need to do more with weights so I’m trying to figure out how to weave that into my workouts. I probably should have also thrown in a yoga workout as well. There’s always room for improvement!
It was a great mail week too! I received my first package from BibRave. I now feel official as I have the singlet, trucker hat and Buff š I also received a Weight Watchers cookbook I ordered with my WellnessWins points from the app. I took a quick scan of it and I already see many recipes I would love to try.
Wednesday was my mom’s birthday! When we gave my mom her gifts, something funny happened. My sister and I realized that we got my mom the exact same birthday card. We went shopping on different days and at different stores – what are the odds?!?!
On Thursday I hit my 50th Peloton spinning class AND even got a special shoutout from the instructor at the end of class š The instructors always try to give shout outs to anyone that hits a milestone during class. My next milestone will be at 75 rides.
Soo…I saw this tweet yesterday and just had to re-tweet it with a comment.
I don’t understand the need to judge people for how they exercise? I don’t care how you exercise, I’m just happy that your body is moving and during calories! Sure, it’s expensive and I couldn’t afford that particular treadmill, but so what? If someone can and it motivates them to workout, that’s awesome! She did post an apology tweet later on that night which I appreciated, but I’m still not sure why she felt the need to slam treadmills and Peloton.
That’s it for this week!
What were the highlights of your week? Did you get a lot of snow this weekend?
Iām linking up with Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap.

Wendy says
Why are people so hateful? You don’t extra points for working out in inclement weather. No matter where you’re sweating, getting it done and that’s what counts. I’m telling you that after I ran outside this morning, I was having big-time regrets. It was cold and it was hard. Geez.
I put my bike in the trainer this week and did 2 HIIT classes (on Youtube). I don’t stand up in the pedals–it’s not a spinning bike, but I was sweating! It’s a nice change of pace.
kookyrunner says
Exactly. I just wish that people wouldn’t be so judgmental, especially when it comes to exercise.
Sometimes those at home workouts are a nice change of pace and they can be super sweaty!
Jennifer @ Fit Nana says
I’m with you on that tweet. I do not understand why people have to be so judgmental. Who cares how someone else is getting their exercise in? I’m guessing she’s jealous that she can’t afford that treadmill and was just being a brat. I am glad she apologized but more people really need to get into the habit of supporting and lifting each other up.
I have a spin bike in the garage. Maybe I should bring it in for the winter? LOL. At least it would give me something else to do! Now, I just have to clear off the spiderwebs. YUCK!
I’ve had the same thing happen with the birthday cards. LOL. In fact, one year when I was growing up, I got the exact same card from both sets of grandparents and one lived in Michigan and the other in New Mexico. And they knew each other but they didn’t really KNOW each other. It was so funny!!
kookyrunner says
Totally agree! I just want to see less judgmental crap like this in 2019. A workout is a workout no matter when you do it, where you do it or what you do it on.
Clear off that spin bike and give it a try! It would be a good cross training workout for the winter š
That’s hilarious about the birthday cards! It’s good to know that the same thing has happened to other people too lol
HoHo Runs says
It’s great to hear your PF mostly behaved this week. OMG. That’s too funny about buying the same birthday card as your sister. Congrats on the pretty, bright orange accessories. I think you’ll wear the color and your ambassadorship very well. Thanks for linking (and hosting last week!).
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I never really thought that orange was my color, but I better get used to it, haha.
I’m glad that my PF has been mostly quiet this week and I’m just hoping that continues.
The Accidental Marathoner says
What a great week getting your workouts in! It’s brutally cold here in Chicago so any and all workouts are inside for at least the foreseeable future! Happy birthday to your mom. That is so funny about the cards. My husband and I have bought each other the same cards in the past.
kookyrunner says
I’ve seen a few photos from Chicago and I just want to send you a big does of sunshine your way! I guess Winter is officially here!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Glad to see your PF behaving – you got some great workouts this week!
Too funny about the birthday cards – I hope your mom had a great day!
And, I’m so with you on that tweet and your response! Especially disappointing to see such judgemental nonsense from the founder of a fitness apparel line!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle! The PF is having but my calfs are still so tight. I will keep rolling them out daily and hopefully it will get better soon!
Yeah it was a disappointing tweet for sure. I give her credit for apologizing but hopefully next time she’ll think a little more before posting such a judgmental tweet.
Darlene says
Congrats on getting your workouts done.
Kudus in the peloton rides. Iād love to try one. I agree about the tweet. Everyone works out in a different way. Just the green monster showing.
We had the snow and lots of it. Tomorrow weāll get the arctic temps.
Not a happy runner.
kookyrunner says
So sorry that you got so much snow š I did hear that upstate NY got slammed. Hopefully the temps will warm up a bit after Monday.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
It’s a good thing I basically never look at twitter.
Although I must admit that sometimes people have made me feel as though I’m less than for not hating my treadmill. Most of the time I don’t think they really mean to, but sometimes it does come across that way. That tweet was something else.
Judge not lest ye be judged!
Happy birthday to your mom! And I think a 90 min spinning class is totally bada$$!
kookyrunner says
Definitely understand what you mean. Sometimes I do think that people just tweet stuff without thinking about how it come come off to other people. People give me weird looks when I say I don’t hate the treadmill, lol. It doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy running outside, but I’m open to both!
I don’t know if I’ll do 90 mins of spinning often – my legs felt like glue for the rest of the night!!
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
Winter sure did arrive this week! I am so thankful that you got me into the Peloton challenge. I am loving the stretch and pre run workouts as well. I never would have tried out most of them if it were not for the challenge. Congrats again on 50 rides! I have to try one of the live DJ rides too soon. Happiest of birthdays to your mom!
kookyrunner says
You’re welcome! The Winter Challenge is forcing me out of my comfort zone and I love it!
My mom said thanks again for the bday wishes!
Kimberly Hatting says
Wow, now that’s a snarky tweet! I think some people are just looking to pick a fight with someone. I have learned to feel sorry for them, roll my eyes and move on. Besides karma will come around and bite them when they least expect it LOL Happiest of birthdays to your sweet mom!!
kookyrunner says
It was definitely pretty snarky but I think she got enough replies from it to post an apology tweet. All of the runners in Oiselle Volee are super sweet so I was surprised to see this from the CEO of the company.
My mom said thanks again for the birthday wishes!
Marcia says
Ha! That tweet made my blog as well. I was stunned the Founder of Oiselle of all people was throwing shade. That can’t be good for her brand. Sheesh. You had a great week! Glad to hear Mom Nature went easy on you with the snow. Happy Birthday to your mom!
kookyrunner says
LOL, great minds think alike. I rarely retweet stuff and comment but that just really pissed me off. There was no need for the shade and I’m glad others called her out on it as well.
angela @ happy fit mama says
I agree with you about exercise – if you are moving, that’s all I care about. We don’t have to enjoy the same things. Just move your body!
kookyrunner says
100% agree! There are sports/workouts that I’m not a fan of, but I also know people that hate running and pick other forms of exercise, but it’s all good. Whatever gets you moving and makes you happy, go for it!
Cari says
Ooh a 90s spinning class sounds awesome!
Oiselle is french for eye roll, right? She just does not play well with others
Yay for no PF flare. I am DETERMINED to keep up the pre and rehab. Been icing and moist heat all day – epsom soak later
kookyrunner says
I’m a sucker for 90s music so it was a lot of fun for me, lol.
I don’t know much about Oiselle but I have heard from a few others this weekend that she has a habit of putting her foot in her mouth so I guess this is nothing new for her, lol
Hannah says
Good to hear your PF is behaving! Hope it continues to get better.
I am still waiting for the snowstorms to make it here…unfortunately (and unusually), we are actually supposed to get rain tomorrow instead. Like you, I’m not looking forward to when that freezes.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Hannah! I’m trying to be diligent about it everyday and it seems like that is working well.
We really didn’t get any snow at all, but right now its super cold and icy outside so I’ll be staying indoors today.
Coco says
I missed the Oiselle kerfluffle b/c I’m not on Twitter much, but your reply was ON.POINT. Sheesh. OMG on your double Peleton classes – that’s intense. So funny that you and your sister chose the same card for your mom. Must have been the perfect one. š
kookyrunner says
Thanks Coco! I am so over all the judgement when it comes to exercise – just let people do whatever works for them!
I don’t think I can do any more double Peloton classes unless it’s 2 30 minute classes – the 45 min classes are intense!
Shathiso says
Good on you for responding to that tweet – there is just so much judgement when it comes to exercise and everything else really. It’s exhausting. š
But onto your week – you did so well! I cannot imagine staying motivated in such weather conditions and actually getting workouts (and work!) done. That’s impressive – and I love that you mixed things up too.
PS: you and your sister getting same card for your mum shows you how much you both know her and her taste! That’s so cool! Happy Birthday to her and hope she has another great year of running!
kookyrunner says
It really is exhausting! We just need to find more ways to give people encouragement to exercise instead of finding judgement.
Thanks! It was a fun week of workouts. I am enjoying trying a few new things here and there.
Jenny Albertson says
we are getting a lot of snow now. It hasn’t snowed in a while but today it will all day long here.
kookyrunner says
Ugh! Hope you stay warm today!
Farrah Fong says
I love Gixo! Glad you’re liking it too! :]! The short classes help me to at least get something in even on my super busy days. I like getting in a little movement even on my rest day, usually in the form of a walk or stretching or something.
kookyrunner says
Gixo was a really good experience! Like you said, I think it’s perfect if you need quick but effective workouts.
Jenn says
Great clapback, Kim! I don’t understand people’s obsessions with what other people do. Run outside, spend your money on equipment or trainer. Just do you.
No snow here, although we did have a freeze last night. The weekend was absolutely brutal for us, and while I know I shouldn’t complain because we don’t get the snow and weather complications, our heat is on and cranking!
ANother great week for you!
kookyrunner says
Exactly – It’s all about what makes YOU happy! š
We actually got lucky as well with no snow over the weekend but today the real feel was -20 so that wasn’t too much fun, lol
Renee @runlaugheatpie says
COLD seems to be the theme of the week! Except for those lucky ones in Florida haha! it’s just hitting us now… I can’t wait to see how running pans out for me later (today or this week…).
you had a great active week – so I’m wondering, why do you think you should have weights and yoga thrown it! Keep it varied, you are doing great and inspiring many to get up and kick butt!
I totally don’t understand the peloton/treadmill comment. Geez. At least people are moving, who are we to judge!!
Still laughing that you and your sister got your mom the same card !! š
kookyrunner says
LOL exactly! It seems like it’s cold everywhere these past few days.
Thanks for the kind words Renee! I guess I’m still trying to burn fat and lose a few pounds so I know that doing weights and strength training will help with that.
Jessie says
Oh wow, I hadn’t seen that tweet from Sally (I’m not on Twitter much, I need to though!) That’s disappointing. I mean, she was personally really supportive when I broke my leg and had to have my oiselle tights cut off- she sent me new ones for free! And I love being part of the Oiselle flock, so its a bummer she wrote that, as I’m on the treadmill more than most!
kookyrunner says
Everyone I have met (including you!) from the Oiselle flock has been super nice so that’s why I was also really surprised at the tweet. It just didn’t seem in line with everything I know from members that are in the flock!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
That’s so funny that you both got the same birthday card! Family knows!
I’ve been meaning to add spinning into my routine. I wish I had a peloton. Not in the budget at the moment though.
kookyrunner says
Yeah, my sister and I are still laughing about it š
Totally understand about the cost of the Peloton bike. If you already have a bike you can just sign up for their digital app which is $20 a month. That way you could still do the classes.
