Happy Sunday everyone. I’m writing to you today live from rainy Chicago. The RnR Chicago weekend has come to an end but I’m still smiling from ear to ear. It was an epic weekend (I got to meet both Wendy and Holly!) that I will recap later on this week, but for today, you just get my weekly wrap. Enjoy!
Monday, July 16
No workout. I had to take care of a few errands after work and ran out of time.
Tuesday, July 17
5 mile run.
I was happy with this run and still did my intervals. After this run, I knew I would survive both races this weekend.
Wednesday, July 18
Boot Camp (60 minutes).
First day back to boot camp. I modified a few moves but overall it was a great class. I really missed it and I’m glad that I can go again!
Thursday, July 19
3.1 mile run.
I ran 3.1 miles for the #VirtualHappyHourRun. There are 3 races in this virtual race series and all proceeds go to the American Institute for Cancer Research. You can click here for more information if you’re interested!
Friday, July 20
No workout. Travel day to Chicago for #RnRChi. Thankfully our flight wasn’t delayed and we were able to grab some brunch before heading to the expo. I met up with Michelle and Deborah at the expo – it was so nice to finally meet Deborah IRL and see Michelle again!
Saturday, July 21
Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K!
This race actually went well. I was feeling good so I stopped to walk less than expected and I’m happy with my race result. Before the race I met even more bloggers and then headed to brunch with them after the race. Such an amazing day!
Sunday, July 22
Rock ‘n’ Roll 10K
The weather was not delightful (rainy and windy), but I will say that I’ll take that over hot, humid and sunny any day! The first half of the race was good but the last two miles were a little difficult. Happy that I was able to push through! Also shoutout to my mom – she was 2nd in her AG for the 5K and 1st in her AG got the 10K! Too bad the race doesn’t give out actual AG awards for either distance, just the half marathon 🙁
Total Weekly Mileage: 17.4
Weekly Weight Loss: No clue as I’m still in Chicago, lol
Grade This Week – A
I was really excited about my workouts this week. Getting back to boot camp was nice because I missed the instructor and some of the people in the class! Hitting a 5 mile run earlier in the week gave me a great confidence boost. I was a little worried about being able to complete both races this weekend but I knew that if I could do 5 miles, I could definitely do 6.2 miles.
Earlier in the week I received this awesome care package from the RockN Blog team! It was a nice surprise, especially the SIS gels (I’ve been meaning to try those) and the shirt with names of all of the RockNBlog members.
I’m going to recap all the fun from this weekend in a separate post but I just wanted to give a quick shoutout to both Holly and Wendy for hosting Weekly Wrap each week. I started doing the link up about 2 years ago and it has not only given me a sense of community, but has also introduced me to so many awesome women running bloggers. I feel blessed to be a part of this community and hope that we can do another blogger meet up at another race next year!
That’s it for this week – thanks for reading my weekly wrap recap!
Do you take racecations? If so, which one has been your favorite so far?
In Case You Missed It

kookyrunner says
I think she’s finally realizing it now, LOL
Liz Dexter says
Fabulous! I’ve realised it’s the same series as the one we have in Liverpool. so maybe I can do that one and feel I’m joining in. Well done on a great week!
I know what you mean about the wrap up. I’ve been doing it, what, a month? And I was a bit intimidated by all the epic runners and achievements but everyone’s so lovely and supportive, it’s really fun (and my book-orientated readers don’t seem to mind me adding running stuff to my blog!).
kookyrunner says
Yup, its the same series. I would love to do the Liverpool race one day!
The weekly wrap is such an awesome way to connect everyone and I can’t express how much I love it. I hope that we have all made you feel welcome!
Liz Dexter says
Yes, I feel very welcome, it’s lovely! And my running friends like seeing their photos and names on my blog, too!

It was so great to meet you and your mom even though I feel like I already know both of you! Haha! Gosh Chicago really dished up some crapola weather but that didn’t dampen a bit of our fun. I too am still smiling!
kookyrunner says
LOL so true! I honestly felt like I was talking with friends that I’ve known for years and it was amazing. I’m so happy that I got o meet you IRL!
Shathiso says
It is such an amazing community – I love, love it! And so glad you got to meet so many bloggers this weekend. The biggest congrats to your mum!! She is killing it out there! Was she always a runner or is this something she took up later in life? What an inspiration she is.

I did Vegas 2 years ago and it was a lot of fun!
Darlene says
Darn. Sorry I missed this one.
Hope to meet you another time.
Glad the races went well. I agree – rainy is better than hot and humid.
Congrats to your mom!! They totally should have given out awards.
Still waiting for my Rock N Blogger swag.
My next race is Governors Island 5k and then there’s RNR Montreal half in Sept.
kookyrunner says
I hope that we will be able to do a blogger meet up like that every year.
I hope that you get your Rock N Blog items soon. I think Stephanie mentioned that they have sent all of them out as of last week so you should have it soon!
Jenn says
I really, really, really wanted to run in Chicago this year, but it just didn’t work out for me. Boo. I’ll be honest, the rain was not appealing, but I would have loved to see so many amazing bloggers and friends!
Looks like you had a fabulous week and lots of fun this past weekend!
kookyrunner says
Oh the rain was not appealing for us either, lol. But once I was already soaked I just embraced the suck and kept trying to move forward.
Chrissy says
Isn’t meeting up with fellow bloggers in real life SO fun?! I wish I had the opportunity to do that more. It looks like you ladies had a fab time in Chicago.
