Happy Sunday! Did you have a good week? I feel like this week officially kicked off “holiday season” with Halloween and the start of November. Does anyone start thinking about Thanksgiving as soon as November starts? Please tell me I’m not the only one, LOL.
This week was pretty good in terms of workouts. I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things and trying to get a more consistent schedule. I’m definitely guilty of slacking a little too much during November/December, but not this year! If I want to run a spring marathon I really want to make sure that I don’t lose too much of my stamina. While I won’t be running as many miles, I will still be consistent and run 3-4x a week. Let’s take a look at this week!
Monday 10/30
3 mile run. Monday was such a long day and I didn’t feel like running but I felt so much better after I finished.
Tuesday 10/31
Halloween! I’m not a huge fan of Halloween, but every year I dress up as “Invisible” in hopes that it will get me out of a few meetings – no such luck!
I enjoyed a Halloween party at my job and handing out candy to kids. By the time the last trick-or-treaters stopped by, it was 8pm and too late for me to get in a workout.
Wednesday November 1
I love the start of a new month! I set some goals for November, one being to get in at least 10,000 steps per day. I attended my normal Wednesday night boot camp class (60 minutes) and walked on the treadmill to get in my steps for the day. In class we did SO many squats – ouch!
Thursday November 2
I headed into NYC to get my bib and my mom’s bib for the Abbott Dash to Finish Fine 5K. When I got home I ran two miles.
Friday November 3
Fridays are normally my rest day, but I still needed to get in my steps so I went for an hour walk after work.
Saturday November 4
Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K. The course ran a little long at 3.3 miles. The course was crowded but it was still a lot of fun!
I also FINALLY got to meet up with Jessica and Jessie, two bloggers/runners that I really respect. Both of them are running the NYC Marathon for the first time. Jessica is running with Fred’s Team and raised over $16,000 for Memorial Sloan Kettering Center – I mean how amazing is that?! Jessie will earn her Abbott World Marathon Majors Sixth Star! I don’t know anyone that has run all 6 marathon majors – Berlin, Boston, Chicago London, New York and Tokyo. Both these ladies are rock stars in my opinion.
Sunday November 5
I spent the day spectating the NYC Marathon! Such a cool experience. This was actually my first year ‘just spectating’ – in previous years I volunteered first and then stayed to spectate the race. I thought I would might feel a little strange being at the race and not running it, but I felt totally fine. I much preferred cheering on all of the awesome runners today!
All in all it was a busy, but very productive week. I’m taking another “staycation” next week (I have tons of vacation time to use up before December 31!) so I’m looking forward to running some errands and getting in a lot of workouts.
Iām linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap.

I love whenever I get the chance to meet bloggers in one life. Jessie is an amazing runner and I was so happy for her today! I’ll have to follow Two Runner Travel – thanks for letting me know!

It was so much fun! I’m lucky that I don’t live too far away from NYC so I can always spectate/volunteer at the race as long as I’m not running it!

kookyrunner says
Thanks! It’s always a lot of fun š
I haven’t decided yet, but I’ll probably pick one by the end of this month.

I start thinking about Thanksgiving when it turns November, too. Definitely not the only one. That guacamole is freaking hilarious.

kookyrunner says
Yeah Halloween was low-key but still fun!
I’m still riding a high from spectate yesterday – so amazing!
Andrea says
Love the Frankenstein guac! That is so cute. And am in full support for “No Excuses November.” I started a burpee challenge and I just started monitoring my macros in preparation for New Years resolutions. This three weeks leading up to Thanksgiving is good practice š

It was so creative! My co-workers are super talented š
Oh that burpee challenge sounds really hard!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
It’s so cool that you got to spectate a major race like NY! I would love to do that one day…well I guess I will because I’m spectating Disney full in January. So you’re finally back into a routine post Chicago? That’s good to know…I’m also targeting a spring marathon, so I’m planning two-three weeks off post marathon now and then getting back to a training plan towards the end of November. It does feel weird to not have a structure right now, but I’m enjoying having a life and being able to spend time with my boyfriend and not having to skip out to go for a run.
kookyrunner says
Spectating Disney full will probably be so much fun!!
Congratulations on becoming a marathoner this weekend! I hope you take off some much deserved time š
Sara says
Great job this week! How fun was it to be in NYC for the marathon?? I think I need to put my name in the lottery for that or Chicago one year. Have you run the NYC marathon? If so, which one is your fav?
kookyrunner says
Thanks Sara! Yes – it was super duper fun and the energy in the city was just electric.
I ran the NYC Marathon as my first marathon. It’s hard to decide between Chicago and New York because both are fun and have awesome crowd support. Chicago is super flat so that works better for my knees, lol
Jenn says
Aw! I love your blogger metope!
I have never gotten to spectate at a huge race like NYC – the energy and vibe must be amazing! Add to that NYC is my favorite!
kookyrunner says
It was a fun meet up!
You’re right – the energy and all the positive vibes were just amazing!
Mary says
That lady raised 16K to fight cancer? Impressive! I’m glad you got to spectate the race, it sounds like a lot of fun! Was that you that make the Frankenstein guacamole with the blue corn chips and olives for the work party? It’s pretty cool!
kookyrunner says
Yup! She’s a super inspiration to me to be able to raise that much money!
I didn’t make the Frankenstein Guac, my co-worker did!
Coco says
How awesome to cheer on NYC! I’m not thinking of Thanksgiving yet because it doesn’t look like either of my kids will be home … š …. Love your Guac Frankenstein!
kookyrunner says
Awwe š I hope that your kids change plans and can come home at some point during that holiday weekend.
Sharon says
Love the Guac Frankenstein! So cool to run the 5k with your mom and also spectate the NYC marathon! I hope to do that race one day! Seems like it’d be an amazing experience!
kookyrunner says
I hope you get to do the race one day as well! I know you would love it!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Sounds like a great week! I did the Dash to the Finish Line last year, which was fun, but yes, way too crowded. Especially at the finish line! I considered doing it again this year, but I actually feel I had my fill of travel . . . for a little while.
It’s always great to meet online friends in RL -& not always easy to do in the madhouse that is NYC on marathon weekend.
kookyrunner says
This year I found that the first and third miles were crowded, but the finish area wasn’t too bad.
Jen @ SprinklesHikes says
Loving Guac Frankenstein! Anddddd now I want Mexican food š So much fun you got to spectate at NYC – I’d love to go there for the race some day.
kookyrunner says
All the credit for Guac Frankenstein goes to my awesomely creative co-worker!
I hope that you’ll throw your name into the lottery for the NYC Marathon!
vicki says
I start thinking of Thanksgiving when November rolls around… it’s my favorite holiday! I get miffed at all everything that go straight to Christmas Nov 1.
kookyrunner says
Same here. I love Christmas too but Thanksgiving is just such an awesome time to get together with family and of course, eat!
