Another Sunday, another weekly wrap update ! It’s officially the last month of the year and I keep asking myself where did all the time go? 2017 will be over in a few weeks – scary!
Unfortunately I didn’t get in a lot of workouts this week. I was in NYC for a team offsite from Monday-Thursday and each day was completely jammed packed. Meetings from 8-5:30 and then team dinners every night. I was basically in my hotel room to shower and sleep and that’s it. I did the best I could do under the circumstances – and since I’m not training for anything, I’m not beating myself up for the lack of miles and workouts from this week.
Monday 11/27 and 11/28
Nothing. Nada. Zilch.
Wednesday 11/29
Stationary bike (30 minutes)
Weightlifting (20 minutes)
I wanted to get in a run but the hotel gym only had ONE treadmill – seriously? The hotel was in Times Square so running outside wasn’t an option and I didn’t have enough time to get to Central Park.
Besides being able to see all my team members, it was great to enjoy some chocolate from London during our meetings!
Thursday 11/30
3 mile run
FINALLY got in my first run of the week when I got home from NYC. It felt good and I tried out a new pair of running sneakers.
Friday 12/1
Rest Day.
Although I didn’t complete many workouts, I was mentally exhausted from the week. However, I did stop at Starbucks for my first red cup of the season.
Saturday 12/1
5 mile run.
The week finally caught up with me – lack of sleep, busy days and not drinking enough water resulted in waking up with a pretty bad headache. Luckily I was able to get my run done later on that day.
Sunday 11/26
Spinning class – 60 minutes / 23 miles
Always a good time in this spinning class. The instructor is going to be out of town next weekend so I’m already sad that I’ll be missing the class, lol.
Total Weekly Mileage: 8 miles
This week was super busy and I’m glad that it’s over. Work will be crazy for the next 2 weeks but at least I won’t have to travel anywhere. I’m looking forward to getting back on track with my workouts this week.
I tried out the Saucony Guide 10 sneakers on my two runs this week and so far so good! I’m currently alternating between a few pairs of Mizuno Wave Inspire 10 and 11s, but I’ll probably have to retire most of them in a few months. That’s why I wanted to try out a new sneaker, especially if I start training for a spring marathon next month. If you know me, you know I’m a total Mizen girl, but the newer versions of the wave inspires just are not working for me. I wish sneaker companies wouldn’t make so many changes to sneakers when they release a newer version – sigh š
In other news this week, Momentum Jewelry had a great sale on Cyber Monday so I picked up a few more wraps for myself. I couldn’t pass up a 50% off sale!
Pro Compression also released their holiday socks – Blue Snowflake and Ugly Sweater Remix!
I also published a gift guide for runners – check it out here!
Did you have a good week? Do you find it hard to fit in fitness when you travel for work? Did you get any good Cyber Monday deals?
Iām linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap.
This Week’s Posts
2017 Holiday Gift Guide for Runners
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I so wish sneaker companies would resist the urge to make all those changes too – frustrating! Hopefully, the Guide 10s will keep working for you. Love your new Momentum Wraps!
kookyrunner says
It’s so frustrating! The wave inspire 10s were probably released about 3 years ago and I just LOVE them. The newer versions – not so much š
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
I love checking out all the gift for runners that bloggers share. There is always something on there I haven’t see. Sorry to hear that you didn’t get a run in NYC. I always thought that’d be the perfect place to run. Guess the timing wasn’t right.
kookyrunner says
Me too – I always get ideas from other peoples gift guides!
Jessica @ I Am Teacher Fit says
Sometimes it’s so hard to get in extra activity on work trips. That’s just life, but giving yourself grace is exactly what you should do. Way to go!
kookyrunner says
Definitely! Although I like having a routine, sometimes it’s just not possible and that’s okay!
Kimberly Hatting says
I’m “leap-frogging” back to Brooks Adrenalines (the 17’s), but keeping the Mizunos on stand-by. The toe box seems so huge on the Mizunos (I think these are the 13’s). They feel alright, but not ideal…I think my foot strike or something is a bit compromised from all the walking I did over the summer as well. The new Brooks feel awesome so far! Good luck with the Saucony’s!
kookyrunner says
Yeah I had the same complaint about the tow box on the 13s and they feel heavier as well. I’m glad that you also like the Brooks Adrenalines. If the Sauconys don’t work out, that will be my next sneaker to try!
HoHo Runs says
That’s a pretty blue shoe. I was looking at new running shoes today. I’ve been loyal to the Mizuno Inspires but one day (more than likely) they will either stop making them or change them enough to where they won’t work. I’d like to have a different brand that I can alternate with. I hope you have an easier workweek this week! Thanks for linking.
kookyrunner says
I agree – I really love the color too. I feel that by Spring I’ll have to retire the pairs I do have so that’s why I’m trying to find an alternative now š I wish I could still buy the wave inspire 10s – by far my favorite sneaker!
Deborah Brooks says
Any week with chocolate and starbucks is a win right?!
kookyrunner says
I would have to agree!
Marcia says
Mizuno did that to my fave shoe a few years back and it sent me into a tailspin. I hope the Saucony’s are the answer. Yes work travel and workouts are hard to mix sometimes. When I lived in England I toured the Cadbury factory. That was FUN!
kookyrunner says
It’s so distressing! I know I’m going to have to retire the few pairs that I have left by the Spring and it’s freaking me out.
Okay so touring the Cadbury factory in England just got added to my bucket list lol
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
It can be so hard to fit in workouts when traveling for work. I usually rely on the hotel gym but that doesn’t always work out. You still had a good week and did what you could!
kookyrunner says
Me too. I definitely don’t mind running outside when I travel, but I would rather eat glass than run in Times Square lol
Coco says
I’m in the same type of work situation right now, sneaking in a bit of social media before I do the “homework” I forgot out for our training, which runs from 8-6 and then there’s a dinner …. I brought my workout stuff but it’s not going to happen today. What bothered you with the new Mizunos?
kookyrunner says
It’s so difficult to get in workouts when the days are super jammed packed like that. I was happy I was able to get in one workout lol.
The newer Mizunos feel heavier and I think the drop changed so it hurt my heels as well.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Oooh, I missed the Momentun sale! š But I did get some good deals.
I think you did great. Meeting-filled travel is sooooooo tiring. No need to wear yourself out at this time of year.
kookyrunner says
That’s what I kept telling myself. Also since I’m not training for anything I knew that it’s wasn’t really a big deal if I couldn’t get in a run, etc.
Debbie says
Ooh, now I want some new Momentum wraps. I only have about 20. ? I usually hate shoe updates but I gotta say Iām loving the new Wave Rider 21. So cushy!
kookyrunner says
LoL, you can never have too many wraps!
Lesley says
The best chance I had at running while traveling was in Boston, when the hotel was right on the Charles River path. That made it super easy to get out and run. DC makes it hard since the hotel I’ve been at isn’t near any paths, and the gym is limited.
kookyrunner says
That sounds amazing. I haven’t visited Boston for over a decade but would love to go back one day.
Chaitali says
I’ve used the Saucony Guides ever since I started running and I love them! I’m scared to try other shoes now. And boo to only having one treadmill at the hotel gym. I always have a hard time fitting workouts in on work trips too. They always seem so mentally exhausting in addition to the packed schedule.
kookyrunner says
That’s great – I am so glad that you have had success with the Guides!
Wendy says
Maybe it’s ok that you got a little break from running? I bet this week, your legs will feel fresh and new again!
I bought a few Momentum wraps too!
kookyrunner says
That’s a good way to think about it!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
I’ve had work trips like that- where you’re so busy and exhausted it’s a struggle to get the workouts in! You did what you could!
I also dislike when shoe companies change a shoe too much. Many people complained about the change from the Asics Nimbus 18 to the 19th version but I liked that. However, the 20 is coming out this month and I’m anxious/eager to see how it works for me. The 19’s were great for marathon training!
kookyrunner says
I could barely keep my eyes open at the end of the day, lol.
I wish that sneaker companies would let us buy “vintage” versions of sneakers. They can make all the changes they want, but always keep the older versions available for sale lol
Jenn says
My work travel is usually running related, so I do always manage to get some time in. I struggle when we travel as a family because it’s hard to break away and sometimes tough to get up crazy early so my run doesn’t interfere with our days’ plans. We will be going on a weeklong ski trip in a month or so and I don’t know how I’m going to get any running in at all (hopefully skiing will count as a reasonable substitute).
I was wondering about your shoes LOL! We wear several of the same styles and I had to retire my 10s and 11s a while back. I also just got some new Guide 10s and I am enjoying them quite a bit. Do you like Adrenalines? They are another of my favorites.
kookyrunner says
That’s great that your work travel is usually linked to running! Skiing will definitely be a great substitute while you’re on vacation next month!
I have not tried the Adrenalines yet but you’re the second person to mention them so I will test those out if the Guides don’t work out for some reason.
Rachel says
I’m sorry, I got stuck at “chocolate” and then couldn’t read the rest of your post. Hahaha jk. š
I’m glad you found a good pair of shoes to replace your Mizunos! I don’t love when companies change their shoes, either. It’s such a bummer!
kookyrunner says
LOL, the chocolate was one highlight from last week š
Sara says
Ohh, dang. I missed the sale. I’ve been eyeing up a few of the new ones! Great job fitting in what you could while on your trip. It’s always hard to fit in workouts when traveling.
kookyrunner says
Yeah it was a quick sale, one day only š Hopefully they will run another sale soon š
Andrea says
These are great ideas! I love the motivation bracelets.
kookyrunner says
The momentum jewelry wraps are so great. Whenever you need a little inspiration, it’s there!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Unfortunately I don’t get to travel through work much, but I feel your pain – it’s frustrating when you can’t get in your workouts, but you were still as active as possible!
kookyrunner says
Luckily I don’t travel that much – maybe 2-3 a year. I’m not sure how people that travel all the time are able to balance everything!
Karen Bayne says
It always makes me nutty when i can’t get my workouts in, but honestly, it is probably good for us to take a break like that every so often š
I got some new bracelets too! It was hard to resist lol
kookyrunner says
I think so! If we’re not training for anything, there’s no need for us to worry so much about missing a workout!
Agness of Fit Travelling says
You are so dedicated to running that even when there are no circumstances, you make them happen! Excellent job, Kim. How do you stay motivated working out on a stationary bike?
kookyrunner says
Good music helps! š
Sharon says
I hate when brands change their shoes! I hope the Saucony’s work out for you. Love your new wraps especially the “It’s fine I ran today” one. š
kookyrunner says
It’s definitely one of my pet peeves when it comes to running! Finding a good sneaker is so hard.
