Happy Sunday and I hope that you all had a great week! I enjoyed the mild temperature this past week but I was just told that we got 7 inches of snow last night – ugh! I’m currently in Cleveland where it is freezing so my love affair with 50 degree weather is over, lol.
This week was somewhat of a cutback week which was very much appreciated after peak week #1 last week. Today marks one month until the Shamrock Marathon – how did that happen?! I’m starting to get really excited for race day š Here’s how my workouts went this week.
Monday 2/12
4 mile run + 60 supermans.
My legs were still a little tight from Saturday’s long run so I took the pace nice and easy.
Tuesday 2/13
2 mile run + strength training (30 minutes) + 60 squats.
It was Fat Tuesday so these socks were very fitting for the occasion!
Wednesday 2/14
Boot camp (60 minutes) + 60 russian twists.
Boot camp class was great but she focused a lot on upper body and squats – ouchie!
I also went to a lunchtime Ash Wednesday service. I’m giving up chips for Lent.
Thursday 2/15
6 mile tempo run + 70 supermans.
I was able to nail this tempo run (probably because my legs felt rested).
Friday 2/16
14 mile treadmill run + 70 squats.
I was flying out to Cleveland in the afternoon so I wanted to get my run done before I left.
Saturday 2/17
Rest Day (but I still did 70 russian twists).
It felt great to wake up on Saturday morning with absolutely NOTHING to do! I’m in Cleveland for a girls weekend with my best friends that I only get to see 1-2 times a year. I wanted to have as much free time as possible to spend with them.
In the afternoon we went to go see Black Panther. I don’t go to the movie theatre often (maybe like once a year), so for me to go to the theatre means I REALLY want to see a movie. Black Panther was such a good movie and I highly recommend it!
Sunday 2/18
GrooveRyde Groove Cycle class (50 minutes).
Even though it’s a fun weekend, we still had to get a workout in! This class was awesome – super high intensity and the instructor used light arm weights for some of the songs. If I lived here I would totally take classes at this studio!
Total Weekly Mileage: 26
Total Training Cycle Miles ā 239
Grade ā A
A huge decrease in the amount of miles from last week but I think my legs are very happy about that š Overall my workouts felt pretty good this week. I have also been keeping up with my core work daily. This week I made it to mile 13 on my long run before my back started to feel a little uncomfortable and I was happy about that. It seems like I’m able to get further along in my runs before any pain starts.
I’m honestly having such a great weekend. I didn’t realize how much I needed this break. Sometimes a good 3-day weekend is necessary for a reset. Next week is my 2nd peak week of training and then I enter my taper period – I can’t wait!
Did you have a good week of workouts?
Iām linking up with Courtney for her training recap link-up and Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap.

ok 14 miles on a treadmill sounds like some sort of torture! Kudos to you! Fun to see you in normal people clothes and makeup š
kookyrunner says
LoL, it actually wasn’t that bad. I’ve done 14 miles on the TM a few times before but this one was probably the easiest.
I’m going to try to post more non-running photos more often lol
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Great job getting in that long run before your trip! How crazy is it that we have such warm temps all week followed by snow this weekend? Glad you had a fun weekend with your friends!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Lisa! It was a fun weekend and I’m glad I didn’t have to work about doing my long run while I was in Cleveland
Jennifer @ Fit Nana says
I can’t believe Shamrock is in a month!! We’re going to have to get in touch so maybe we can meet up before the race? Not sure when you’re heading down. Plus, I have to figure out where I’m going to be to cheer you on! haha
So glad you got away for a girls trip! I need one of those.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jennifer! The girls trip was so much fun as always!
Yes, let’s discuss Shamrock as the date gets closer. I’m heading down on Friday before the race and leaving on Monday. Looking forward to seeing you hopefully before and during the race!
HoHo Runs says
I think a fun girls weekend is the perfect way to unwind and get re-invigorated to nail the last peak week of marathon training! We should all schedule something like that. Groove Cycle says it all… love to groove and spin! Thanks for linking and good luck this week.
kookyrunner says
You are absolutely right! I needed this weekend to decompress from training and other things that are stressing me out. I’m hoping that next week’s training goes well (fingers crossed)!
fairytales and fitness says
Are you still in Cleveland? If so, I hope you have a safe trip back home. We were suppose to be on winter break here but it turns out we have to go to school to make up those snow days that we had off! Can’t wait till Easter…haha
kookyrunner says
I’m still here but I’m leaving tomorrow morning so I hope to have a safe trip back home!
Oh so sorry that the winter break got cancelled because of all the snow days – that’s a bummer!
Kimberly Hatting says
Congrats on a fantastic girls weekend š I can’t believe you’re almost to taper for your marathon! I love all your pics with your compression socks…so many awesome colors and patterns!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Kim – it was just the getaway I needed after many weeks of intense training!
I definitely have an obsession with Pro Compression socks, if you couldn’t tell, lol
Wendy says
You look so amazing in your real life gear! It’s so funny when we see our running friends in regular clothes. I’m glad you had such a fun weekend with your girls!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Wendy š I guess I need to post more non-running photos, lol.
Sara says
You look fabulous! Glad to hear that you enjoyed the movie. One month left! Time is just flying by. One last week of hard work. You’ve totally got this!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Sara! I really can’t believe that there’s only one month until the marathon – time to get excited!
Coco says
Yikes on the snow! I hope it doesn’t hamper your trip home. I love your diamond/argyle socks – those are awesome. Too bad I gave up shopping (excluding groceries!) for Lent. I hope to see Black Panther with my daughter this weekend.
kookyrunner says
Apparently we got all that snow yesterday, but then the weather was mild there today so some of it will probably melt, lol.
Giving up shopping for Lent is awesome – I don’t know if I could do that! I hope you get to see Black Panther soon.
Marcia says
OMG 4 weeks! Wow that really snuck up but on the other had I’ll bet you’re getting ready to be done with training too. You look so hot all dressed up in non-running clothes. š I just saw a preview for Black Panther and it looks great!
kookyrunner says
I know right?! I feel like this training went by rather quickly since it was only 12 weeks. After my marathon, I go right into training for the Cleveland Half Marathon but at least my weekly mileage will be much less!
Thanks so much for the compliment – I need to get out of the house more and post more non-running photos, lol!
Catherine says
What a great week away!
I don’t go to the theaters very often either but Black Panther might just get me there. My son saw it with friends yesterday and really liked it.
Have a great last week of hardcore training! It’s all taper from here!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Catherine! I hope that you are able to go see Black Panther, it was a really great movie.
Jessica @ I Am Teacher Fit says
Glad you enjoyed Black Panther!! We tried to hit the 2:00 today, but were so disappointed to find that there were only seats left at the front of the theater… For every showing for the rest of the day. Better luck next weekend!
kookyrunner says
Awwe that stinks! I hope that you are able to see it next weekend – it’s a fantastic movie!
Lesley says
I also took a down week, but I don’t know how my legs appreciated it. I’m feeling some twinges that have me thinking I might need some dry needling.
kookyrunner says
I’ve never tried dry needling, but I hear good things about it. I hope that it helps your legs!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Huge props to you for doing 14 miles on the mill! I can’t believe you’re just a month away from Shamrock! I’m taking my boys to see Black Panther tomorrow – cannot wait! Enjoy the rest of your girls weekend š
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle! I also can’t believe that Shamrock is now less than a month away, but I haven’t freaked out just yet lol.
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
I’m so glad to hear that you’re having a great time in Cleveland with your friends. We all deserve a break from our normal routine every now and then. When do you fly home?
kookyrunner says
I came back home this afternoon, right on time to get in my run and start another peak week of training – back to reality! lol
De Bolton says
The year is zooming by again. I almost forgot it was Valentine’s week. I am seeing Black Panther today and although, I dont go to movies because its like me paying to take a nap. I am such a Marvel geek and super excited to see this movie. I am sure I will stay woke the entire time š¤£ Wishing you another great week š
kookyrunner says
I hope that you loved the movie!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
How marvelous to have some girl time in the middle of winter! I’m still in awe that you did 14 miles on a treadmill. I can’t even imagine.
And nice to know Black Panther is worth it. We haven’t been to the movies in forever (mainly because we’ve both been sick off & on since the beginning of the year).
kookyrunner says
Yes, it was a very fun girls weekend, but now it’s back to reality, lol. I don’t love or hate the treadmill, I’m kind of in-between so that’s probably why long runs on the treadmill don’t bother me as much.
Darlene says
Your training is going great.
I can stand more than 3 on the treadmill. Kudos to you!!
Everyone needs time out with the girls!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Darlene! I am not a treadmill hate or lover, I’m kind of in-between, but I’m always thankful that it’s an option!
Angela says
Sounds like a great week! I saw Black Panther this weekend as well. It has been a long time for me too! I am not a treadmill hater but 14 miles is a lot! Good for you! Glad you were able to enjoy a girls weekend – those are so fun!
kookyrunner says
I’ve done 14 miles on the treadmill before but this time it didn’t feel as long, thankfully! lol
Girls weekend was a blast!
Alyse says
Well that looks like the perfect valentine’s day! š I can’t wait to see Black Panther – I hardly ever go to the movie theater either – so this will be a special treat! Glad to hear you liked it!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Alyse! Valentine’s Day was pretty fun – I love pizza and wine š
You will love Black Panther and I hope you can see it next weekend!
Jessie says
Great week Kim! It’s such a great feeling to get your long run done before a weekend getaway so you don’t have to think about it. Nice job š
kookyrunner says
hanks so much Jessie! The weekend getaway was much needed but now it’s back to reality š
A\ says
Great job with your runs/workouts! I’ve heard the Black Panther movie is awesome! It’s been ages since I’ve seen a movie!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much! I hope you get a chance to see the movie – it’s amazing!
Debbie says
I never thought I would say this, but I want all the socks! I love your Mardi Gras socks and all the others! Every time I buy a new pair of Pro Compression I find more that I need. š
Hats off for that 14 miler on the treadmill. I know I’d give up after 5. Or 3.
kookyrunner says
That’s the trouble with Pro compression socks – there are always more that you want to buy, lol!
Clarinda says
I’m getting excited about race day for you as well! I haven’t been to a movie theater in years. LOL I’ll have to remember Black Panther when it comes out on video. š Good luck with Peak Week #2!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Clarinda! Peak week #2 is in full swing!
Shathiso says
14 Miles on the Treadmill? I had to convert that – 22.5 km on the Treadmill!! Okay, I am going to stop complaining when I have to do 8 km! LOL! Fantastic work and glad it ended with such a nice weekend getaway too! You ladies looked fabulous at the cinema!
kookyrunner says
LOL, the treadmill is definitely not for everyone so I totally get it! I much prefer to run outside but sometimes the treadmill is the best option.
Thanks for the kind words – out girls weekend was great!
Sharon says
Sounds like a great cutback week and a fun weekend in Cleveland! Wow 1 month until your marathon. You are doing great!
kookyrunner says
I had a great weekend – it was just what I needed!
Jenn says
Oh, I really want to go see Black Panther! I love the movies so much and don’t get to go as often as I would like.
Great week for you! Mine was fairly fabulous. Miles are still up there and I am feeling great. Cross training is going well and as planned, so that’s fabulous. You are going to do awesome at the Shamrock!
kookyrunner says
I hope you get a chance to see Black Panther!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Glad to hear you had such a great week! I loved Black Panther too – I hope it makes ALL the money, lol!
I just love how you have compression socks for every occasion in life, lol!
kookyrunner says
Me too girl! I actually might go see it again š
Angela Cardamone @marathonsandmotivation.com says
Great job on the long run on the ‘mill! I had to do 15 miles once on mine due to an ice storm! It definitely builds mental toughness!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Angela! I don’t loathe the treadmill so if have to do a long run on it I’m okay with that.
Chaitali says
Sounds like a great week! I’m impressed with that 14 miler on the treadmill. I saw Black Panther on Sunday and loved it š
kookyrunner says
The movie was so good right?! I’m thinking about seeing it again.
vicki says
OMG, giving up chips would be so hard… they are my guilty pleasure š Great week of training… these last 4 weeks are going to fly by!
kookyrunner says
It’s hard for me so that’s exactly why I gave them up, lol. I was doing too much mindless snacking!
