Today I’m linking up Angelena Marie from Angelena Marie: Happy, Healthy & Balanced , Michelle at Fruition Fitness, Nicole from Fitful Focus, and Annmarie from The Fit Foodie Mama for Wild Workout Wednesday!
TOMORROW IS THANKSGIVING! I’m working until around Noon today and then I plan on enjoying the rest of the week off from work.
I look forward to Thanksgiving for a number of reasons:
- Spending real, quality time with my family
- Delicious food
- Time off from work
- More time to workout
Yes, you read that last bullet point correctly – more time to workout! I’m not saying that you shouldn’t enjoy your Thanksgiving feast, but also make time for a great sweat session as well!
Run a Turkey Trot – Many cities across the country have turkey trot races either on Thanksgiving Day or on November 28th. The distances vary – 5K, 4 Mile, 5 Mile, 10K and Half Marathon. What could be better than starting Thanksgiving day off with a run! No Turkey Trot in your area? No problem! Get the family up on Thanksgiving morning and go for a run or walk at a local park
Exercise While Cooking – Did you know you can get an effective workout while cooking? You sure can! Why not do some sumo squats with the turkey while it’s frozen? How about bicep curls with cans of vegetables, cranberry sauce or pumpkin? Do some lunges while you’re waiting for the food to finish cooking. There are tons of ways to stay active while in the kitchen.
HIIT Style Workouts – We’re all pressed for time around the holidays. Thankfully Fitfluential featured 5 different HIIT workouts on this blog post on their website. I will definitely be doing one of these workouts on Friday and Saturday!
If you’re getting active this week, don’t forget to use the hashtag #BurnTheTurkey on social media. Here is a little more information about this initiative.
Submit an original image or video of your #BurnTheTurkey exercise and Anytime Fitness will donate $1 to Feeding America (up to $25,000).
So, how will you get in your exercise this week and #BurnTheTurkey? Wishing you all a great holiday!

Someone at my gym suggested it and I couldn't stop laughing when I was thinking about it!

My coach would probably make me do sumo squats with a frozen turkey. Seems right up her alley…

Your coach must have a great sense of humor! 🙂

Great tips! I can't run yet, but my coworkers and I are going to a gratitude yoga class at a local studio! It's a donation based class and the money goes to charity so I'm really excited about doing something good for both me and my community. And then I'll eat lots of food afterwards 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!

That's so awesome about the yoga studio! I wish I had something like that in my city.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
