Disclaimer: I received the Nanami Zen Set to try for the 7 day challenge through my relationship with FitFluential. All opinions are my own. #keepitreal
Happy Friday everyone! Today I’m linking up for Friday Five 2.0 with Rachel from Running on Happy and Lacey and Meranda from Fairytales and Fitness. Today I’m discussing 5 reasons why you should try the #7daydrinkgreen challenge by Nanami Green Tea!
I’m a HUGE green tea drinker. I don’t drink coffee and I have at least one cup of green tea a day. I was excited to try this 7 day challenge which consisted of just drinking water and Nanami green tea. Now that I’m 5 days into the challenge, I wanted to share my thoughts on why you should try this challenge!
Decrease your sweet tooth
I don’t drink soda, but sometimes I do enjoy orange or cranberry juice. In the summer I also LOVE lemonade! Unfortunately these drinks are not the healthiest options and contain way too much sugar. By doing this challenge and just sticking to the green tea and water for hydration, my cravings for juice/lemonade has subsided a lot.
It’s organic
Nanami is a specialty 100% certified organic green tea brand. Although my diet isn’t 100% organic, I felt good knowing that the tea I was drinking everyday was organic and not full of additives, extra sugar or ingredients that I cannot pronounce. Bonus – almost all teas are calorie-free (Matcha has 3 calories per serving)!
Caffeine
I don’t drink coffee, but I still need a little caffeine in the morning (I start work between 7:15-7:30 am). Luckily two of the Nanami teas contain caffeine. Matcha has 70mg and Sencha has 30mg. This is still lower than the typical caffeine in coffee (95mg) but it’s still a good boost in the morning. Also if you wanted to enjoy a cup of Matcha or Sencha after dinner, it shouldn’t keep you awake for hours on end.
Variety
While each type of tea has it’s own unique flavor, you can enjoy all four of the teas hot or iced. This really works well for me because while I enjoy hot tea in the morning, I do prefer iced tea with lunch or with an afternoon snack.
Brewing Guide
Not sure how to prepare the different types of teas? Nanami has provided a “How to Brew Japanese Green Tea” Guide. Having no experience with loose leaf tea, I referred to the guide often. All of the teas require different brewing procedures, so it’s very important to refer to the guide to ensure your tea comes out correctly.

I agree – it can get boring drinking plain green tea over and over again. Flavors are definitely appreciated!

I’ve had green tea here and there, but don’t drink it consistently. There are definitely a lot of health benefits to drinking it and should try to incorporate it into my diet more frequently.

Kimberly Hatting says
I have not had green tea (unless you count the bottled kind that is sweetened LOL). Although I’m not much a tea drinker, I do prefer it over coffee (especially chai tea)….I got to have some flavor in my mug 😉
kookyrunner says
LOL, unfortunately that kind of green tea doesn’t count 🙂 Chai tea is really good too – I have that every now and then!
