Happy Friday! I hope that the new month is treating you well so far. I have to say that August is probably my least favorite month because it always seems super hot and humid. I’m hoping that’s not the case this year (fingers crossed)!
July was a busy month but I was really happy with the amount of workouts that I was able to complete, and I hit all of my goals. Let’s see what August will bring!
First, let’s take a look at my goals from July:
Complete the Peloton Summer Launch Challenge
Grade:A
Happy to report that I completed the Peloton Summer Launch Challenge and I also racked up a few badges for other challenges in July as well:
-Pelothon 5/7 Challenge: Awarded for working out 5 of 7 days during week 3 of Pelothon
-Summer Launch Challenge: Take one class daily for 30 days in July
-July Cycling Challenge (Gold): Completed 181.5 miles (needed 150 miles)
-July Running Challenge (Gold): Completed 65 miles (needed 40 miles)
-Pelothon Live Class Challenge: Awarded for taking any two live classes during week 2 of Pelothon
-July Activity Challenge (Gold): Completed 31 days (needed 15 for Gold)
You could say I spent a lot of time with Peloton in July, lol.
Plan out workout schedule for the week
Grade:A
This has been working out really well for me and I will definitely continue to do it moving forward. It helps me take a look at the week ahead to make sure I have a mix of cardio and strength. One issue I’ve had since working from home is that I want to do ALL the workouts because I have more free time in the mornings, but I know that overdoing it will be a recipe for disaster in the form of an injury, and no one wants that!
Complete the Quad-City Times Virtual Bix7
Grade:A
I can tell that I haven’t been doing any long runs because this 7 mile virtual race was a bit of a struggle. The one thing that helped me to keep plugging along (in crazy humidity) was the fact that I knew I was running “virtually” with some pretty kick-ass women!
Here are my goals for August!
Complete the OTF #BackAtITChallenge
I took 2 weeks off from OTF, but I still think I have time to complete this challenge (it has to be completed by August 31). I just have to complete 7 more studio workouts and 3 more outdoor workouts to finish up the challenge. This was a really fun way to get back into the groove of OTF and I hope they offer more workouts like this moving forward.
Run 100 miles
I haven’t run 100 miles in a month since September 2019, so almost a year! Last month I ran 80 miles so I think I can log 100 miles in August. I’m still enjoying my lower mileage months so this will just be a goal for August.
Do yoga classes 2x a week
I still don’t love yoga, but I’ve been trying to do it more often to help my body recover after hard workouts. I feel like I ask a lot of my body with the different classes that I do so it’s only right to slow down and give it some proper TLC!
That’s it for this month – wish me luck!
If you set monthly goals, what are your goals for August?
I’m linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness from Fairytales and Fitness.

All the best with your goals! You go girl on those 100 miles! My mileage has been so low that looks enormous to me. Haha!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Marcia! I’ve been enjoying my 3-4 mile runs a little too much this summer so I’ll have to sneak in some longer runs lol.
Catrina says
You really are the queen of the Peloton Challenges, Kim! Well done!
100 miles for August sounds like a nice goal. Good luck!
kookyrunner says
Thanks – I really do love the Peloton classes!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I love all of the badges you’ve racked up with Peloton!
100 miles is an awesome goal – hopefully the weather will cut you a break. Good luck!
kookyrunner says
I hope so! I know I’ll have to add a few longer runs to get to my goal. I’ve been enjoying my 3-4 mile runs a little too much lol.
Darlene says
Great job.
Looking forward to hearing how you do in Aug.
My monthly miles are slacking but I do walk a lot.
Glad to hear that Iโm not the only one who doesnโt love yoga.
kookyrunner says
I’ve tried to love yoga but I just don’t, lol.
fairytales and fitness says
You have been Rockin it with your Peloton workouts! You are always so inspiring!
kookyrunner says
Thank you!

Nice job on your goals, Kim! Good luck with this month’s. I’m with Marcia, I don’t plan to be seeing a 100 mile month for a long time. This month was particularly low since I took a week mostly off — which is fine, I needed that.
Here’s to a great (and mild) August. At least it’s mild for a few days, LOL, we’re supposed to get up towards 90 by Tuesday.

Way to crush your goals last month! I am hoping to ride 200 miles this month and get some yoga back in as well. Fingers crossed I can resume running soon. Happy weekend
kookyrunner says
Those are awesome goals for August!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
You killed it in July! I’m sure August will be equally impressive! Fingers crossed for a cooler August. We’ve certainly had our share of storms so far this month.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Debbie!
Kimberly Hatting says
YOU are such a devoted Peloton chick! Well done with all those badges ๐ I’ve said it several times, but I am so glad (and honored) you did the Bix with me and all the other gals. It sounded like we all had similar weather, so it was almost like we were all experiencing the same race day experience. Best of luck with August…100 miles is something I should shoot for….#twinning LOL
kookyrunner says
Being at home so much has made me really appreciate the Peloton classes!
Liz Dexter says
Great work in July – well done! I did 100+ miles in May and June then something like 99.4 in July argh. So trying for over 100 this month but just had a low mileage week as it’s too darn hot.
I am considering getting the Peleton app as I’ll be cancelling my gym membership. Do you reckon it would work with my recumbent bike and cross trainer? I mean, you can still change the tension on them so it must be similar to doing a spin class, which is how I see the Peleton rides being. And the other classes look great and it’s cheaper than the gym. I can’t shell out for the proper bike however.
kookyrunner says
You had some great mileage months this year – that’s awesome!
I know several people that have their own bike and use the app for cycle classes and they love it! I do a lot of the run and bootcamp classes on my own treadmill (not the Peloton treadmill) and I’m able to mimic the speeds, inclines, etc. I think getting a subscription to the app would be a great investment!
Coco says
You nailed your July goals! Iโm desperate for new August goals! Iโd put yoga on my list, but the thought of it makes me dread it already, so thatโs not going to help my mood. ๐ I miss my hot yoga classes โ and my instructor.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Coco! Yoga and I will just never get along but I figured I should at least *try* to make an effort, lol
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Great job with all those Peloton classes! Sounds like you have some good plans for August. I’ve been thinking I need to do some yoga again too. Hoping to squeeze in a few minutes of it this morning!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Lisa! I hope I’m able to hit my August goals, especially the running one.
Cari says
I smile every time I see this collage. Such a fun run.
Way to goo on your Pelotone of workouts as a friend calls it. You’re kicking ass
kookyrunner says
Me too – I love running virtually with friends ๐
San says
Nice work on your July goals. I have no doubt you’ll crush the August goals as well.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much San!
Farrah says
Great jobs on your July goals!! That’s awesome! :] I’m…still working on a consistent workout schedule, although it’s gotten marginally better in the last month! I’m hoping to increase from 3x/week to 5x/week this month though! As long as I can convince myself to get my workout done first thing in the morning, that tends to bode well for me! ๐
kookyrunner says
Thanks Farrah! I’m sure that you will achieve your goal of working out 5x a week this month. Sometimes the hardest part is just getting out the door.
